Alcon contacts caused significant reactions: Alcon and the FDA should be notified. The Alcon contacts were ordered by the Lorton location of myeyeDr, 9419 Lorton Market Place, Lorton Va 22079-1963 on 6/27/2024. Order #48070685. Received the daily disposable contacts, a year's supply that were mailed. In a matter of minutes while wearing the new contacts, eyes were burning, red, and face was red with blisters. Removed contacts. Attempted returning the contacts in October 2024 after first and second reaction following removal of contacts. Red, tiny blisters, burning sensation. Looked like a burn on face. First visited the Lorton, VA location and was told to go to the Potomac Mills location. Visited the Lorton, VA and Potomac mills stores in Woodbridge VA, Doctor advised Bio True to store disposable contacts and then rinse with saline. Disposable lenses are not stored in other liquid normally, however, did as directed by the doctor at Myeyedr. After rinsing the contacts as directed, used the contacts to drive. One and half hour of wearing the freshly rinsed contacts resulted in an eye bleed and eyelid swelling. This resulted in an emergency visit in November to ophthalmologist office and was provided prescription of antibiotic to treat eye infection. The eye bleed continues and looks horrible. This is all documented with paperwork. Alcon recalled certain disposable contacts sent in the mail and in my opinion, MyEyeDr should have reported all reactions to Alcon and FDA and refunded the purchase. read more

I saw eye doctor on 10-31-2024 at 3.00pm. I am not satisfied by the service provided by the Doctor. This was the recheck of my eye exam. The doctor checked my eyes and said that she will change my prescription because it's not correct then suddenly she changed her mind and said she will not change and leave prescription as is. Although, I can't read correctly on my right eye. The doctor didn't have patients to listen to patient, she cut me off two times when I was asking questions. read more

Initial Service and Eye exam were great. Dr. Choi is friendly and Mercedes who helped me with my glasses and insurance was very knowledgeable. Turns out she's the GM for the Stafford location helping out for the day. As for the Lorton location, it seems to lack good after service. They were closed during normal business hours without even a notice on the door. I called the next day at 9 am when they open to check on the status of my glasses and was put on hold for 20 minutes. The young lady who answered seemed out of breath and in a hurry to end the call. I asked why they were closed the day prior and she said, "if I'm being honest with you, I don't know." Either they are extremely short staffed and under trained or the front of house is very poorly managed. It's a shame because my initial impression was very good. It's also been two weeks since I had my eye exam and I still don't have my glasses. My prescription is very weak so I'm surprised it's taken this long. Office in total disarray. Frames take weeks to arrive. I called to check status and was put on hold and forgotten (three times). On exam day, the doctor left for the day without uploading our prescriptions, so we had to follow up later the following Monday. If I ever get my frames, I will never, ever go here again. While the office has my correct info, I cannot track anything online because that system does not recognize the same email and phone number that I use in the office. Frames arrived at office without the lenses. Do not have conficence I will ever see these glasses. Office says it will call me back and I do not believe this will ever happen. Hundreds of dollars spent. I don't know why getting frames is this hard, never has been in my 44 years of wearing glasses until now. read more

Had my eyes checked by the O.D. She was very professional and did a great job. I'll update when I buy the glasses using the prescription to see how that goes. Biggest problem I had was how they lock you in with Open Authorizations. Called them initially and they checked my eye plan benefits. AND THEY LOCKED MY OPEN AUTHORIZATION that kept me from pricing anything anywhere else. Called my insurance company and had it unlocked and had my eye exam there at My Eye Doctor. Good experience but I chose to shop for Frames and Lenses. THEY LOCKED MY OPEN AUTHORIZATION again preventing me from price shopping. Called my BCBS Vision program and they unlocked and confirmed what I said exactly. BTW: called yesterday asking that My Eye Doctor unlock the Open Authorization and the lady said the manager wasn't there and I would need to wait until tomorrow. I was standing at Costco Optical and yet another wasted trip due to their "locks". The Blue Cross Blue Shield representative said they are working to change this system---as they should. read more

I went in needing two pairs of glasses, as the one pair I had broke and were not able to be fixed. I had a 5 minute eye exam and the retinal scanning, as I am diabetic. I then picked out frames from the less expensive side and ordered progressive lenses. I was very clear that I needed 2 pairs. The saleswoman even repeated this to me and offered to provide me a great discount on the 2nd pair. My insurance Company paid over $800 and I paid $315 out of pocket. So a little over $1100 in total. This was very close to what I had paid at other stores for two pairs of glasses. After getting a text that my order was ready I went to pick them up. Imagine my surprise when there was only 1 pair. I had them verify the order and they told me I only ordered 1 pair. I said, "You're telling me that 1 pair of glasses costs over $1100?" The manager said these were the very best progressive lens and I only paid $315 for them. I told her that I've had glasses my entire life. I've also had progressives a long time. They do not cost over $1100 for one pair. She kept trying to tell me I only paid $315. Then the upsell/bait and switch tactics kicked in. The manager started telling me she would give me a great deal on a 2nd pair. I told her, if I was to poll people, every one would feel ripped off if $1100+ was paid for one pair. I went here for the first time recently & didn't have much of a good experience as I expected to. First of all, I walked in and it was a pretty unprofessional environment considering it's an eye doctor. It felt as if I were walking into some kind of retail store. I booked my appointment online to save time for checking in & in doing that I also put all my insurance information beforehand. When I walked in they were having trouble finding my information but still proceeded to let me go on with my appointment. It wasn't till AFTER I've done my eye exam that they informed me that they couldn't find my insurance plan. This is something they should've figured out and told me at first because these appointments aren't cheap. Hear me out, I would have not gone through with my appointment if I knew my insurance wasn't going to cover it. So I was left with no choice really and had to pay the appointment out of pocket even though three days prior I submitted my insurance info online when I booked my appointment AND they could've checked if my insurance was good to go before I went on with my appointment like any other medical/health offices would. This place advocates for valuing their patients with honesty but instead it just felt like they were trying to "just do business" which is the number 1 red flag of any doctor offices. I was told I needed glasses for a very mild prescription even though my vision was still 20/20. It seemed unnecessary and I even asked the doctor myself if it's necessary to even get them considering my vision was still in good shape and he replied in a way that implied that I REALLY did need them. I didn't order any glasses that day, instead I asked a trusted friend who was also an optometrist to look at my prescription and they told me getting glasses wasn't necessary unless I have trouble driving at night or in the rain (which I do not). The staff & doctor were still nice and helpful but if you're looking for an actual honest or professional place to go, I don't recommend going here. read more

**Did not buy any product so can only speak to the health exam & contact lens portion This was my first time at this location and have worn glasses since I was 12 so I'm familiar with the process. I was examined by the primary doctor (whose name I can't recall) for a contact lens exam. The process was fairly routine and straight forward, but the doctor made me feel comfortable about the process, why we were doing what we were doing, and took extra time to explain to me things that I simply took for granted. It was nice to feel I wasn't a number and the extra time taken went a long way. Will return to this location to make sure I'm seen by the same doctor. read more

Really shady up-sell practices going on here. Be careful when they sell you prescription glasses as they will not disclose the itemized costs with you and you will need to ask. They will just tell you the grand total and ask for payment. The sales person/manager told me they checked my insurance and that it will cover part of the bill. When I checked with my insurance the next morning, less than 24hrs after my visit, it turned out I do not have vision coverage. I tried to cancel my prescription order and get a refund as soon as I found out, but I was told I could not because "the lab had started working on the order"! I got stuck with a huge bill with no insurance! Did they lie and tell me I have insurance coverage so I do not question the huge bill? Only getting two stars because the actual doctors are great. Everything else? Forget it. I bought glasses after my appointment. The frames seemed reasonable, so I went ahead and bought a pair. What they don't tell you, is the ridiculous amount of fees you get. My glasses (not a super luxury brand) ended up being $300, AFTER insurance, and I have fantastic insurance that covers the first $130 and has a discount on the rest of the frame. On top of that, I did not have my HSA card because I had just started a new job. I was told I could switch my transaction to my HSA card later. After waiting 20 minutes to be served, I was told I was lied to and I couldn't switch it. The manager promised to call me after "fixing" things with corporate, and I never got a call back. Get your eye exam, collect your paperwork, and walk straight out the door without making eye contact so that the salespeople can't scam you. read more

The Anti-Reflective coating you pay extra for apparently sometimes just peels off (per the MyEyeDr reps I spoke with today) and if you didn't pay for standard/extended warranties you'll find no relief at MyEyeDr for your AR coating just peeling off all by itself (my sunglasses lived in the overhead sun/eyeglass compartment of my automobile - no wear and tear). Took my 6 yr old daughter to this location and not only was the doctor great, but the whole staff was phenomenal! We were immediately greeted as we walked in and did not have to wait long at all to be seen. The consultants were very patient and kept complementing my daughter on her glasses choices. The doctor was also very patient, thorough, and informative. He gave us excellent information regarding high myopia that my daughter unfortunately has. I highly recommend this MyEyeDr location. Went in today with my daughter for her yearly exam. I asked about a pair of glasses of mine that were broken. Initially they quoted a price of around $180 for a replacement frame. I was all set to decline when another worker came over. She used a similar frame and repaired my glasses for free!!!! I have never felt so lucky! I did not previously have my eye exams there. To spare you the gory details of my latest experience, let me just say I would tell my best friends to RUN, do not walk away from this business! The staff is argumentative, pushy, not well trained, and the Optometrist failed to discuss my options for contacts or inform me that I had astigmatism until much later. This location is one of the friendlier MyEyeDr locations I have utilized. I have only personally received a vision exam from this location. I order my eyewear online because it's so much cheaper and I'm not that particular. I realize that online eyewear retailers don't accept vision insurance, but it's STILL cheaper for me to order it online than pay my "portion" using a provider who accepts assignment of benefits. But I digress. The doctor at this location (I saw the female) was extremely professional and gave me several great recommendations for my dry eyes (to include specific brand recommendations for eye drops which were quite helpful). My husband visited this location and had the male doctor and he was well-pleased with his manner, also. MyEyeDr, in general, tends to be on the more expensive side of eyewear and contact lenses than, say, WalMart, but with insurance, it's easy enough to budget for what you need. With our vision insurance, the price of my husband's annual contact lens supply was equal to WalMart, and we have a rebate through our insurance company, as well. So I deemed it affordable enough. On a few occasions, I have not been greeted immediately upon entering this location. And on other occasions the staff greeted me immediately. I come from a small town where patronizing a business is a big deal and businesses are very grateful for this and recognize you immediately when you enter their business, so I do look for this immediately upon entering any business. In Norther Virginia, it's actually quite an unexpected occurrence to be greeted upon entering a business. It's always welcome, though. We will likely continue to patronize this business as long as we are in the area. read more

Very helpful staff!!! I broke the frame my glasses at work and rushed into the Lorton location in dire straits. I was told the frames couldnt be replaced by there. However, Daniel was extremely patient and helpful. He found a frame that fit my existing lenses perfectly. He also recommended an eye exam since I hadn't had one that year. I left with a brand new frame and was very pleased. I was so pleased that I decided to take Daniel's advice and come back a couple days later for an eye exam. I've purchased 3 pair of glasses from this shop. I've always gotten great service regardless of when I go in there. I had to visit them tonight (20OCT15) because I needed to have a prescription lens removed from one of my glasses. I just got Lasik surgery this past week and the lens is no good to me anymore. The kicker is I went to a MyEyeDr over near where I live (Duke St) and they said they couldn't do it. I called this store and they say they can do it. I get my glasses back by the end of the week. Thank you so much, great customer service. As for the Duke Street store they got the review they deserve. I gave 1 star but it should have been a negative star.
