I got my Lasik eye surgery done on Oct 31, 2015. It's been half a year and my eyes feel great!
1. Consultation: It was a breeze. I made my appointment online, they had a spot in a about a week. On the day of my consultation, I went through two eye exams, and then I met with a financial adviser about payment and loan. They didn't push me or anything. I just told them I'd go home and think about it.
2. Appointment and loan: I decided to go for it! First I called my financial adviser to make an appointment, and then I contacted Desjardins to apply for a loan. My surgery came to about $3000, and my loan was approved in 10 mins! Now I can do the surgery and pay in two years with zero interest.
3. Surgery Day: Dr. Ghislain Boudreault was my surgeon. He was calm, patient, and knowledgeable. They gave me two squeeze balls so i can hold onto them if I get nervous. I laid down on a bed, they put in some numbing drops, and used some tools to keep my eyes open. As soon as they started the surgery, I smelled something burning (geez it was weird lol), but I didn't feel any pain. The surgery took less than half an hour. After that, I stayed in a dark rest room for another hour, and I was free to go!
One thing to keep in mind though: don't think you're doing the most important surgery in your life and everyone has to treat you like a king/queen. In fact, I was in the rest room with 3-4 patients, when one patient left the room, the next one entered. I think the doctor does more than 10 patients in a day.
4. After Surgery: I went home and slept for a couple hours. They prescribed me with 3 different drops, 4 times a day. During the first two days, putting the drops in was kind of a torture... simply because my eyes were not recovered and the drops felt irritating. But things got better eventually.
5. Post-Operative exams: 3 post-operative exams were included in the price - the day after surgery, a month after, and a year after. Each exam takes less than 30 minutes. The day after the surgery, my vision was still blurry and they told me to use a lot of artificial tears (one of 3 prescribed eye-drops). I went back a month later, and wow, my vision was perfect! By that time I was allowed to get rid of the other two eye drops. Artificial tears was all I needed.
6. Now: now my vision is perfect of course. I don't really keep up with the artificial tears lol... well the doctor said I can only use it when my eyes feel dry. I tend to do it twice a day, before and after bedtime :)
Anyways, I've been considering lasik eye surgery for years! My family wasn't a big fan of it, they said "if it ain't broken, don't fix it". Oh well, I made my own decision after all, and I'm so glad I did it! read more
