I've been to this clinic a few times now and tried a few of the docs. Each time the eye appointment was extremely rushed and impersonal, no matter which doctor. Barely 15 minutes to do the eye exam including photos, no hellos, asking about your day or interest in getting to know you as a patient or your eye history, just quick in and out and then "that'll be $140 please". My previous optometrist would spend 45min-1hr testing my eyes with all types of gadgets, multiple acuity, lens and distance tests, and took the time to properly review results and explain things in detail. Unfortunately I moved into Vancouver so cannot visit him anymore due to distance. This place is rapid fire and just seems to churn through patients as quick as possible. Couldn't believe how fast the eye appointment and testing took, in and out within 15 minutes... how is that enough time to properly evaluate someone??? In my opinion, it's not. After a brief "exam", I was directed over to the eyewear section where one can buy frames and lenses, at what I consider to be VERY high prices. No thank you! Felt like a totally rushed and impersonal experience, and will NOT be returning ever again. I was just a number here, herded between multiple rooms, people and testing stations, way too fast. I work in Downtown and I wanted some clinic near my workplace so that I can easily visit during week days. I came across this place through Google/ Yelp. My first visit with Dr. Chou had been very pleasant. He's friendly and courteous. Its been a while since I had done my eye checkup and he answered all my questions with patience. I went with an eye-condition that's intermittent. He has done a couple extra tests than the regular ones (that I knew at least) to assess my eyes' health. He ruled out each possibility that could lead to my eye condition and it's a relief when he finally said my eyes are perfectly alright. They have charged an extra $50 for fitting my contacts, but I feel its worth it because they tested my eyes again after wearing them to make sure if the dimensions are okay for the eyeballs. Plus, they gave me a complimentary contacts for a week before I can order. Overall, the service has been top-notch (worth the money I paid), staff are well-trained. DO NOT get your prescription lens there unless you want your new and expensive plastic frames came back all scratched up!! The one star is for Dr. Chou only whom i had no issue with my eye exams. I lived in Ontario for 10+ years and had only moved to Vancouver 3 years ago.Got my first eye check with Dr. Chou in 2016 and came back for my 2nd one a few weeks ago. My prescription needed updating, and since I could not find the frames I liked at the clinic, I got a brand new $300 Tiffany's and Co. frame as a gift from my boyfriend when I visited California. Thinking that an optometry clinic would be more professional in getting me the correct lens I went back to the clinic and left my new frame with them for installing a pair of new lens and adding nose pads. Little did I know that would be the last time I saw my frames with its high polish and glossy finish. A week later the clinic called and said my glasses were ready. I paid the remainder of my $405 bill and left with them. I was on my lunch break so was in a hurry to get back to work so I only tried them on to see the fitting and left wearing them. However when I got home in the evening and took them off, I've noticed the right side of my frames have numerous scratches that are quite visible. After 20+ years wearing glasses and numerous pairs of plastic frames, I have NEVER ever gotten any new frames back with scratches. I brought my glasses back the next day and asked the gentleman that served me whether they can polish off those scratches. He said he could send them to the lab and see if they can do that, but his comments were that he couldn't be sure if he received the frames with the scratches already on them. I emphasized they were BRAND NEW. I waited for 4 days until he called me and asked if they should go ahead to polish my frame with the chance that the color would come off and the two side wouldn't match in colour. Well, I am a gemologist who works in a jewelry workshop and know a lot about polishing. I understood what he said is possible but I am really upset that a professional optometry lab would leave scratches on a client's new frame and said nothing and could do nothing to fix them. I told him I would just get my glasses back unpolished as who would want to wear them with two different shades on each side?!? It took them another 3 DAYS before I could get my poor glasses back. I went to pick them up earlier today. I mentioned my disappointment about my glasses getting scratched and the lady at the clinic blankly told me "yeah, it's possible that the frame got scratched when they installed the nose pads..."; no apology, no mention of other options of how they can make this up to me. But my point is: they shouldn't have scratched the frames in the first place if they do the installation properly!!! Very upset at my first time getting lens in Vancouver. I would rather go to an optical store like Lenscrafters next time for my glasses. Never going back. read more

A friend of mine referred me to this place. In the past I had used a groupon for a checkup at a different business but the service was shoddy so I didn't mind paying regular price for decent service. I sure got my money's worth here because the service is top notch, and it's not by chance that their service is top notch. The staff has seemingly been trained well. I had my glasses assessed and was told what was and wasn't necessary to be replaced. They didn't try to up sell everything they carried. I overheard a conversation in which there was a warranty issue and the staff was very understanding weren't apprehensive with dealing with the issue. It's rare these days to see this level of service these days (see my low star review reviews). This is one business that I'd feel comfortable going again knowing they'll take care of the customer. read more

This review is for Dr. Chou and not the clinic or the other doctors in this clinic. The complete eye examination is not comprehensive and it was in an extreme rush (that would explain it). I went to other optometrists and they were much more thorough in their tests and explained to me about my eye health and conditions. Assessment of the health of the eye itself both inside and outside using a biomicroscope, ophthalmoscope and a dilated eye examination was NOT INCLUDED in the complete eye examination. Neither was checking my eye health and screening for eye diseases was made during the complete eye examination. And it was only during my second visit to check my suitability for Latisse that Dr. Chou performed peripheral vision test. I was not informed to make or have another appointment. Thus, the 10 minutes complete eye examination was just a simple diagnosis of my glasses and validity of my contact lens prescription. It might be alright to charge extra for the contact lens' validity but since the complete eye examination is incomplete and yet being charged extra just makes it money grabbing service. I paid for a complete eye examination and obviously expect for a complete eye examination. read more

DR KOMARNICKY is really the contact lens master!!! I originally saw him upon a recomendation from a client. I have a difficult to fit cornea for all contact lenses exacerbated by dry eyes. I saw three other optometrists who couldn't fit me properly with rgp lenses. Ive seen DR K for 15yrs + and he just refit me with MULTIFOCAL rgp lenses and I can see clearly near far and everything inbetween. I highly recommend Dr.Komarnicky and his staff are also amazing too. Dr K will give you the best care possible for all your contact lens needs. read more

Dr. Mehin is what everyone should look for in a health care practitioner. She's knowledgeable, courteous and respectful. I went in for a standard eye exam, thinking I had perfectly healthy eyes. When Dr. Mehin saw some results that she did not like, she asked me to come back. On that second visit she diagnosed my detached retina and made some calls to get me to see an ophthalmologist immediately. It's because of Dr. Mehin that I have a fully functioning healthy eye.If you are looking for an optometrist, I highly recommend Dr. Mehin. read more

Great Optometrist. Bad customer service. Dr. Kormanicky is great so for that reason I will return for my annual eye exam. The customer service is bad. I plan to get my frames elsewhere next time. The frames I selected were on back order and so I knew that I would have to wait. Cut to two months in to the four month window I get a call asking if I wish to order the back ordered frames. To which I replied. Yes, I have already paid $440 for them and expect to see them arrive in two months. Two months later, no glasses. No call. No follow-up or status update. I then call to inquire and told they won't arrive for another week. Great. Ten days later, I receive a call. The frames have arrived. Hooray! I visit the clinic again and yes they are the ones I want. Okay another two days to cut the lenses. I told them I will be in Friday, is an appointment required? I am told no. Cut to Friday, I arrive and told to wait in the frame selection area. One assistant is clearly busy with another couple both of whom are getting fitted for glasses. I browse, try on a few glasses. Time passes by a good 15 minutes. No acknowledgment...no update, certainly no one else on hand. By this time I am extremely irritated and impatient. Is it so hard to have another person inform me of when to expect some assistance? I considered leaving and coming back another day but I also figured I'm already here so wait it out. It was a really unpleasant experience. Everyone is polite by have no clue on how to inform a customer about wait times, and status updates on frame orders. Inform a customer when an appointment is recommended. I was told I wouldn't need one but the technician didn't really care because that was his day off. When I called to make an appointment, I explained that I needed a thorough battery of eye tests done as soon as possible. The whole process took about an hour and I had several tests.
