I realize that the retinal physicians are generally the ones who receive Yelp reviews, but in this…read morecase I would like to talk about the staff. I received exceptional care from 2 employees today. Because my morning had been stressful, I arrived at the office having forgotten to remove my contact lenses. The receptionist kindly helped me resolve this problem and also provided me with a face mask. But what happened following my consultation with the doctor was truly amazing. Because my eyes were dilated and my vision seriously impaired, I could not use my phone to call an Uber and I really needed a ride because it was snowing. An assistant named Alberto leapt to my assistance, offering to book a pick-up on my behalf. When he accessed the app on my phone, we discovered my credit card information needed updating. He helped me through this process in private and then input my request for a ride. When the driver was on the way, which took only a couple of minutes, he offered to accompany me down on the elevator and out onto the street so that he could ensure the car arrived and I actually got into it. We stood on the street corner in the snow (him shivering without a jacket), his fingers flying on the screen to indicate to the driver our exact location. Bingo, the car arrived within seconds and he helped me into the rear seat. I couldn't escape the feeling that I must have come across as a seriously foolish and inept old woman. But I don't believe Alberto thought that at all. He is simply a very kind man, dedicated to doing his best for all the patients, and happy to go out of his way to help a senior overcome some obstacles. This experience restored my faith in the milk of human kindness.

You will feel like a cog in the wheel and you only get minimal time to see the doctor so get your questions ready. I went to see Dr. Sullivan today, 1200 Burrard St Vancouver. Never experienced such an…read moreunprofessional clinic. Firstly, the receptionist couldn't answer the most basic questions like how long the wait would be in the waiting room, just got an arrogant response. Once I saw Dr. Sullivan, she was so rude and with such bad attitude it was almost laughable. I asked her a few different questions regarding my eyes and she responded by attacking me on how can I question her. She just wanted to give me a quick sypnosis as to the condition of my eyes were red and I could not ask her any questions. She even got angry and blew a tantrum when I asked her if she could kindly write down the name of my condition so I wouldn't forget. Stay far and clear from this place

My Dad just had his check up last week and once again she patiently explained in detail, that they can understand, what's going on. My dad has dementia and has trouble with his memory, but he always remembers Dr. Sullivan. He is 84 years old with a number of other medical challenges so often gets bad news at the doctor. Dr. Sullivan has always made my Dad feel great about his eyes. She tells him he has the eyes of a 25 year old (which is true!!) and he just beams with pride. My mom has had a few eye emergencies over the years and Dr. Sullivan is always able to see her quickly and reassure her recommend treatment every time. My Aunt, who is also a patient of Dr. Sullivan's, travels all the way from Vancouver Island just to see her. The staff in the office are always kind and helpful. I would highly recommend Dr. Sullivan and am thankful that she has been their eye doctor for the past 20 years.
