He was smart, polite, respectful and he has a light sensitive touch. In fact, Dr. Chew advised against getting the more expensive lens as it was not suitable for me. When I arrived for the surgery, the process was simple and very efficient and the actual process seemed like it was only 15 minutes. Had my right eye done, which was so blurry, I could barely see. Absolutely amazed at the result. Had the left eye done one month later, again, perfect and I was already working on the same day on my computer. Highly recommended.

I did not receive any contact from this office to advise that my appointment had been cancelled. The attitude of the receptionist was extremely unprofessional . Upon returning the receptionist seemed irritated that I was back and when I asked how contact was attempted they responded " I closed your file , now I'm going to have to open it again." It was clear this was a bit more effort than this person wanted to make. In essence the email they used was incorrect,and even though they had my phone number no attempt was made to ensure contact. There were some other pieces of the conversation that I won't take up space with, however it was the condescending tone of voice and attitude that prompted me to write this review. This person was rude, condescending and disrespectful towards myself. They indicated that they would be the person performing some of the procedure I was booked for. In that light and with a strong sense that the front desk staff is an indicator of the tone of the office I made the decision to decline any appointment at this office, I returned to my optometrist who referred me to ask for a referral to another ophthalmologist outlining my reasons for the request. I made an appointment for 8am and at a quarter past 10 she still wasn't in the office. The waiting room is so tiny and was completely filled up. People were sitting on the floor (which wasn't unusual) and out into the hallway. About 10 am people started walking out and NOT making appointments to come back. I left, too. I never went back and found another dr. whose waiting room is pleasant and not crammed. Dr. MacIntosh also misdiagnosed my cataracts, saying I didn't have any! I had 2 cataracts removed within the year. I also have macular degeneration that was diagnosed before I saw her. She never discussed that. I now have hardly any vision in my right eye and poor vision in my left. I know she wasn't responsible for this but it did need immediate attention, which she didn't give me.

However the doctor knows what she is talking about, and wasn't rushing like many doctors who have 8+ people waiting do. This is likely one of the reasons why she is so backed up, and the fact that the receptionists overbook! If you can get a appointment at 8am, there won't be much of a wait; maybe 10 minutes. After 11, you are looking at 45 minutes. Not worth it. There are plenty of other ophthalmologists who are competent, and who won't make you wait close to a hour for a 5-10 minute visit. She also has another office on Broadway. And you need a referral from your GP/optometrist to see her.

You walk up to the front to get registered and then you wait for your name to be called in for a quick eye pressure test and exam. Then you go back out and wait for your name to be called. Dr. Yu has two offices. I ended up going to the Coquitlam office because of the day of my appointment and follow-up. Dr. Yu is very knowledgeable and he solved my problem after seeing him. Note that you do need a referral to see Dr. Yu.

The receptionist was very kind and helpful. We got there around 8:30 AM and was seen by a caring doctor within 10 minutes. This was super helpful because most clinics don't open until later on a weekend and our GP was away until Wednesday. Thank you to the awesome doctors and receptionist at this clinic!
