I had my brows first done by Amy about two years ago and they completely transformed my look! I…read morewalked in to her super clean and cute office with barely any brows at all. They were super thin to begin with, and with age they had started to thin out even more. They were so thin, they disappeared in photos . Anyways, she helped me pick out color that would complement my ever changing hair color. The process it self isn't completely painless. She uses numbing creams on your brows so it is a lot less painful than getting a tattoo, but you do still feel the tools slightly on your skin. (A little) pain is beauty, right? Keep in mind your skin and your skin care routine can really impact how long it will take your brows to fade. You should expect to come in once a year for an annual touch up. Immediately after after a visit you'll need to avoid getting water on your brows for a day, and then avoid being in direct sunlight and sweating (I avoided taking cardio) for about a week for the ink to set. This is the same with tattoos (which I have a few of so I was prepared for this). Your brows will look darker than expected due to scabbing but your real brows will be revealed by the end of the week! One last thing to be prepared for: funny looks from people when your skin starts to heal and peel One patch of skin on my right brow which for no good reason just does not hold ink. It fades super quick compared to the rest which stays and fades consistently over a year, but this one spot just refuses to keep ink! Amy has been super helpful and nice in doing extra sessions to try going over that spot a bit extra. It's definitely easy enough to fill in this one spot with makeup but wanted to mention since Amy has done everything to to try to help it, but it's clearly an issue with that patch of skin. For you people who hate calling to make appointments, you can schedule online and even text her direct (I've sent photos of my brows this way) and she's super quick (within 24 hours) in responding!

Sometime in the last 3-4 years, my eyebrow hair has either slowed in growth or stopped altogether…read more I've been filling them in with eyeshadow or using those brow pens that draw a few thin lines at a time. I was chicken about this process because I wasn't sure about whether I could tolerate the pain or, even worse, I'd end up looking like Groucho Marx. I am not about the trendy, strong eyebrow game. I had been searching through Yelp and Facebook to see what reputable places offered microblading and I was about to head to Baltimore until I read all the reviews for Amy. And since location is also important, it helped that Microblading Magic & More was in Fairfax. Amy listens to your concerns and she definitely knows what she's doing. She makes herself available for any questions and she really knew what I wanted. She also told me exactly how my brows would heal, so I didn't freak out too too much. Amy knew that I didn't want strong brows, so I chose the shade lighter than black, which was maybe a brownish gray. During the healing process, your brows are pretty dark, and I actually grew to love the 'bolder' brows; so when I go back for my six week refresh, I'm choosing 'to go black.' I'm super happy that I took the plunge and got my eyebrows done. I had my misgivings, but beauty is pain right? If you're in the market for semi-permanent eyebrows, Amy of Microblading Magic is the real deal.

Hi Christina, Thank…read moreyou for your response. I respectfully disagree with your conclusion that AHA and BHA products were the likely cause of my reaction. As I explained multiple times, I am very aware of the contraindications associated with brow lamination services and did not use any acids, retinoids, or other products that would have compromised my skin before or after my appointment. What I find concerning is that your conclusion appears to be based on speculation rather than any medical evaluation. The fact remains that I developed redness, irritation, and scabbing in the exact areas where the chemical products were applied within 24 hours of the service. Delayed skin reactions following cosmetic chemical treatments are well documented and do not need to be visible immediately after a procedure to be related to it. I also find it disappointing that throughout this process the focus has been on defending the service and assigning fault to the client rather than acknowledging that adverse reactions can occur even when procedures are performed by experienced professionals. At this point, I am not interested in a redo of the service. My concern is not the appearance of my brows, but the reaction that occurred and the lack of accountability shown in response to it. Given my experience, I do not feel comfortable returning to your studio in the future.

I want to start by saying that my technician, Carmen, does excellent work. She's professional, fun…read moreto talk to, talented, and the quality of the lashes themselves was consistently good. The salon is clean, well lit, and the atmosphere is relaxing. That said, the membership structure and billing practices are confusing and not customer-friendly, and that ultimately led me to cancel. The salon offers a monthly membership that includes two refills per billing cycle. In practice, if you go every two weeks (which is a very common refill schedule), your appointments will occasionally fall just before the billing reset. When that happens, you're told you either need to pay out of pocket for the visit or move your billing date forward and pay the full monthly fee early. There is no proactive warning when booking that a visit will fall outside your available credits. Nothing about this was clearly explained up front. I had to ask multiple questions to understand why I suddenly "didn't have credits" despite being on a paid membership and coming regularly. Once explained, the math may technically work -- but the structure almost guarantees periodic extra charges for clients who come every two weeks. This isn't about the technician (again, Carmen is great). It's about a membership model that relies on billing-cycle timing rather than real-world client schedules, which creates avoidable confusion and unexpected costs. If you're considering the membership, I strongly recommend asking very specific questions about billing dates, credit resets, and how often you plan to come so there are no surprises. Also, I was drawn in by an advertisement for a $99 offer for my first set of lashes. Wonder how many people actually leave paying less than $200.

For the most part. she always did a great job on my nails, although she was a little slow at times and was sometimes late for my appointments. I texted her to set up an appointment one day and she shared that she was no longer doing nails because she was going back to school. I think that is great, but wouldn't you let your clients know that in advance? I can't imagine my hairstylist or anyone else just leaving their clients high and dry - especially when you have been their client for years and always had a great relationship. There are lots of people who can do great nails in the city, but it's the customer service that sets the great ones a part from the good ones. For that reason, I will likely never return to her.

Had the Groupon for lip blushing…read more First, she tried to have every conversation with me while my lips were being numbed and insisted I had to text her if I had any questions. Second, she also asked me for what color I wanted... Without having any color palettes to show me while my lips were being numbed, so I couldn't talk. Third, after showing her a picture and making sure that she understood I wanted a mauve, pink, purple sort of color... She ended up doing a lighter color, then went over it with red after I complained, which the red isn't what I desired either. Finally, she did not lip line anything... And there is a line around my lips for not doing so. I literally now have bright red lips, which I hope that actually fade at some point. She was very confrontational when I tried to have a conversation with her about my concerns. She insisted I just had to trust the process... Which, if she actually picked the color that I requested... Maybe my lips would not be so bright red. Also, if she actually had a consultation prior to trying to numb my lips... And rush the process... Then maybe we would not be having this situation. Everything seemed rushed from start to finish. It was very unprofessional. Also, if she would've done the color I selected from the start... Instead of doing a super light color then having to "try to fix it"... Then maybe I would've had the color I wanted. She was honestly just trying to sell more and more throughout the process instead of focusing on what I purchased. Instead of understanding my point of view, she just kept trying to justify her side and refused to listen. I will not go back as I have bright red lips, and I am hoping that my lips actually fade. I recommend going somewhere else for your services and if you want lip blushing... Which is to get the illusion of larger lips, then just go somewhere else.

I've been searching for a salon that does properly does Gel X extensions as I was trying to grow…read moreout my nails and found that Peony did them. I went ahead and made an appointment for a Gel X manicure and gel pedicure. I received a text confirmation when my appointment was booked as well as reminder texts as well for my upcoming appointments. I had a great spa pedicure experience and felt relaxed throughout my service. The gel polish was applied neatly and my nails weren't cut down too short; there was plenty of room left for growth. Moving onto the manicure... there was way too much glue added onto each nail and there was so much residue left underneath my fingertips. When the LED light was placed over each finger, I vocalized to my nail tech that it was getting pretty hot and she said "it's okay" (of course it was, because it wasn't hot for her!) and I just ended up taking my whole hand out because she clearly didn't care or listen to my concern. When the polish was applied, it was done neatly and I liked the final color result, but there wasn't any cleanup done beneath my nails. I was able to pick some of the glue residue out when I got home, but wasn't able to get it all out. The pricing here is reasonable and the salon is clean and well kept, but I don't think that I'd come back since I was brushed off during the process of getting my Gel X manicure.
