My wife had grilled chicken sandwich & enjoyed. Fries were fluffy inside and yummy (though I stole half from my her since they were so good ) Don't miss the dessert (cannoli & gelato, tiramisu, cakes). Service was quick & bathrooms clean to make a quick pit stop off of 64/13. Was told they've been here since 2002 - so don't let the small number of reviews or MIA website link worry you . We ordered the cheesy breadsticks. It was fried dough that must have been fried sometime in the past and then microwaved so it caused the outside to be really tough but not at all crispy. My entree was chicken Marsala. It didn't come with any pasta or mash potatoes and the sauce was very thin and didn't stick to the chicken at all while also being flavorless. Basically boiled chicken. I usually like to get desert when out at dinner, however the deserts in their case looked so unappealing, we decided to drive 15 mins away to get cake from the Sea Horse cafe. The two servers were okay, generally polite but didn't look at you when passing the table so it was hard to let her know when you needed something.

I discovered Nino's when looking for places to dine over my stay in Greenville, NC. I read it was a…read morebusy place so I made sure to make a reservation. When I arrived, I thought I was going to a fine dining establishment with the decor outside and patio. Even the chandeliers and painted ceiling when entering set my expectations high. Then I was seated in the empty Rat Pack room. It was obvious that I was exiled to be hidden away from the other diners in the main dining area. A couple did join me over an hour later. I would have been fine dining in the room to myself if the staff standing around the hostess stand were not loudly complaining about their personal problems such as their high electric bills, rent payments or needing to complete homework. These conversations belong in the break room, and not for guests to need to listen to, so much for the fine dining atmosphere. My waitress was friendly but did not go over the specials, or seem that familiar with the menu. I started with the Sicily Sunset and some bread. Then I ordered the Pear and Cheese Sacchetti. The pasta pouches filled with cheese and pears in an Alfredo sauce. It was to come with the garnish of cracked pepper, Romano cheese and parsley but that was missing. Parmesan was added at the table. I was a little shocked when my dish arrived within minutes of ordering. It made me feel like I was being rushed as I was isolated and the food came out too quickly. I do wonder if it was freshly made. I could tell they were trying to turn the table quickly as then the dessert menu arrived while I was still eating my entree. The pasta dish was good with the textures and flavor. I would have had a better opinion of the food if I had just ordered that and skipped the dessert. The dessert menu wasn't very Italian so that was disappointing. I had to laugh that the assorted Italian cookies contained chocolate chip, sprinkles, and a chocolate dipped cookie. I did take a photo of the menu, so you can read it yourself. I went with the profiterole, not realizing their version was pre-made. So they took it out of the refrigerator and served it cold. The pasty's texture was changed by the temperature and was chewy. The chocolate ganache had hardened rather than flowing like lava. The dish was not good and I didn't finish. I did mention to the waitress that it was not good and she just said that they might make it different. They pre-prepare it so it isn't fresh. For the price, the service, atmosphere and pacing were below professional standards. I do not recommend Nino's if you are looking for an upscale environment. I would not return after my experience.

We stopped at Mama's Pizza for lunch on our way headed further east on 64. I tried the Salami Sub…read morewhile my dining companion opted for the baked Ziti. My sub was definitely on the sparse side. The 6ish inch sandwich arrived at the table warm on a small metal tray. The serving of salami was skimpy; I seriously doubt that it had much more than an ounce of salami and about the same size serving of mozzarella. Despite the modest amount of protein, it really was OK. I've had better versions of this sandwich, but I've had worse too. The baked ziti showed up piping hot in an enormous baking dish that dwarfed the metal tray of my sandwich. It was easily a large enough serving for two or possibly even three. I got to try a bite and it was also OK. There was a lot of pasta with a barely adequate serving of meat sauce and there was a lot more tomato sauce than meat in the sauce. The sauce was definitely on the sweet side; I've had baked ziti many times and do not recall ever eating sauce this sweet before. Our server was not overly attentive but did eventually refill our drinks. The restaurant is clean and had a bit of a 1990s feel. We both noticed that there was pay telephone in the lobby that appeared to work. It definitely reinforced the 1990s vibe. The restaurant charges a 4% fee to use a credit card. There really aren't too many dining options easily accessible off of highway 64 east of Rocky Mount until you reach the OBX. Momma's Pizza is a reasonable choice as long you have modest expectations.

It's a normal wait for the meals. As I mentioned in a previous review, the decor doesn't give the customer an "nice Italian dining" vibe. The pasta dishes are a good portion and has the flavor of standard Americanized Italian fare. That's not a negative opinion of the food, just a little info for the potential customer anticipating a gourmet Italian meal. My only serious ding would be the decor, tables, and seating are in dire need of replacement or renovation.

Their menu has a great mix of pastas, pizza, salads, and appetizers. All of their entrees come with bread, and you have the option to add proteins and vegetables. I decided to go with the lasagna with a side of vegetables. The food took a while to come out, but it was so worth it! The lasagna had tons of flavor. Each bite you could taste the oregano, tomatoes, red pepper, and one other seasonings. One just popped after the other. The vegetables were a little over cooked and sad, so I added them to the lasagna, and that seemed to help a little bit. Minus one star for the server being a little snappy and rude when I asked about the wifi. She seemed to get a little nicer before we left, but the escalation of her attitude while I asked her questions was surprising. Being a server myself, I understand having an off day; but you can't let that mess with you too much. However, the other server that helped us at the end was a delight. I would come back for the lasagna and skip the vegetables.
