Beautiful inside with a gigantic spacious bar area. When I walked in on a weekday night the host didn't greet me at all. Strike one for etiquette. I met my dad and my sister for dinner. Our waiter, he never told me his name, but it was his first day and he was incredible. However, when I received my arugula salad it was supposed to come with sun-dried tomatoes, roasted eggplant, roasted red onions, gorgonzola cheese, pine nuts and white balsamic dressing. The salad arrived in a nice large white bowl. No lie, there must have only been less than a handful of teeny tiny toppings. You couldnt even taste them. The only thing that you could taste was the arugula, cheese and pine nuts. The menu description should reflect what I received. LaScala Fire is one of my favorite restaurants which is why I chose it for my Mother's Day dinner. The food is always fresh, consistent and delicious! We loved our meals: Ricotta Board (10 stars for this if I could), Ricotta Tortellini, Seafood Fra Diavolo and the Cavatelli special. Service was excellent as well. Unfortunately the weather was not nice enough to open the doors or eat outside but inside is equally enjoyable with lots of space between tables and a gorgeous decor. Looking forward to trying LaScala Beach this summer, too! read more

First off the space was beautiful and the staff super friendly & attentive the night we visited. So my review of those two would be 4+ stars. However, I just feel the items I ordered that night fell short of a great rating. I had ordered the short rib pizza and to be honest I should have ordered something different. The short rib pieces were not enjoyable. They were dry and crispy due to the pizza baking perhaps. The texture felt like if beef jerky would have been julienned and sprinkled on top. The menu also lists truffled pecorino. If you know truffles, there is a very particular taste that comes along with using it, whether in cheese or oil. There was none of that taste on the pizza so I think they just use regular pecorino. Is that a big deal, no. But because the short rib topping fell flat, I was hoping for something else to make the pizza enjoyable. Since it's an open kitchen I saw the cook use oatleast what seemed to be the same block of cheese to finish the plating of other meals( grating it on top of items that were to go out) Maybe consider to order a different pizza if you were looking at those options. read more

I live right down the street, and finally had an opportunity to check this place out. Overall, I'd say that it's a solid, relatively inexpensive, family-style Italian restaurant. There is a large bar area, which would be a good place to sit for a couple, though we sat at a booth. The place is LOUD, partially because it attracts large groups and partially because the sound dampening doesn't seem to be very effective. I'd also note that they bring out dish as they are ready, not necessarily in order or at the same time (ie. family style). For those reasons, I'd recommend for families or large groups. Food was a bit mixed. Appetizer of stuffed long-hots was good (very spicy). Seafood Fra Diavolo was good (and large), though the couple of shrimp in it were raw and had to be sent back. That may be the first time I've ever had undercooked shrimp at a restaurant in my life, as usually they're overcooked if anything. Pizza, which I had the highest expectations for, was actually the biggest disappointment as it was very soggy with too much cheese and undercooked. Tasted fine but expected a crispier crust at an Italian restaurant like this. Tiramisu for desert was very good and easily large enough for 2 people. Limoncello was overly sweet and served at room temperature (whereas it should be served very cold, right out of the freezer), so that was weird. The cocktails we had were good though. Overall, good ambiance for large (loud) groups and families. Would not recommend for couples unless you want to sit at the bar. Food was mixed but about on-par for chain restaurant quality. Service was excellent - our waitress (don't recall her name) was extremely attentive given how crowded it was. Overall, decent for what it is though I'm typically looking for something a bit better if I'm going to an Italian restaurant in the Philadelphia area. read more

Stopped by the restaurant yesterday to meet a friend for lunch at 1 PM. Although the restaurant was pretty empty, the maitre d' took me to a small table for 2 all the way in the corner in the back and pulled out the chair for me FACING THE BACK WALL! It made feel very unwelcome. When I visited the Center City location, the maitre d' there took me to the table reserved for our party of 5 and asked me if the table and location were okay. He offered that some patrons said the table was too big and when he offered a smaller table, I agreed with him and felt like he appreciated my business. Definately didn't feel that way at Upper Dublin. Probably won't return although the waitress was wonderful! read more

This location was not prepared for Mother's Day at all. First off we had a reservation, they held my wife's card and told her that they would charge her if she canceled. The issue is we did not sit until an hour after our reserved time. Then my mother-in-law was told that there was no veal left. So all veal dishes were out. My meal had risotto and it was on the special list. The risotto was crunchy so it was not done right. Then they ran out of the 2 desserts on the menu. We have been to this location one time and it was great! Food quality on par with other locations. To add a note about some negative reviews: the plain fries are NOT $15. The Truffle Fries are $15 because the ingredients (truffle oil) are expensive. Additionally, many places are doing the 3.5% surcharge for credit cards to pass the surcharge they are charged by credit card companies to the customer. Many restaurants are doing this, not just this chain. There is an ATM on site, signs posted, and they verbally tell you that before order. You can just bring cash to avoid the surcharge. read more

It's really simple just some thin pizza dough seasoned and cut in strips served with ricotta mixed with honey...it doesn't sound like much but honestly it was really delicious! For dinner we ordered a pizza to share and 2 types of pasta to try. The pizza we ordered was the fig&prosciutto...I really wanted to like this pizza, the crust was great and the ingredients sounded good but it was just too much in the mouth you couldn't taste the fig or prosciutto over the taste of the bleu cheese and pesto they added to the pizza. The Alicia's Sunday pasta was nice; perfect al dente rigatoni in a tangy marinara with meatballs and ricotta on top...very tasty for a chain restaurant! The rigatoni Vodka was very disappointing; the pasta was over cooked so it was soft and fell apart, the sauce didn't have the nice bite from the pancetta and vodka like it should it just tasted like a creamy marinara. Our waitress was really sweet and always made sure we had what we needed. Overall I'd stop here again since service was good and while I didn't like some of the food, the stuff that was good would lead me to give them another chance. read more

Let me say the appetizers tasted good and the kitchen seems to have its act together but our waiter's indifference was truly impressive. Service like this could put this place out of business. We were promptly seated at outside at 7:15. Our table had an old bottle of water on the floor next to it. Strange and gross but odd things happen. Our waiter was a little slow which is understood on a Saturday night. We ordered 3 appetizers and drinks. Fifteen minutes later appetizers arrived but no drinks. I asked about the drinks. A half hour later we finished our appetizers, still no drinks and no dinner order taken. 45 minutes later still no drinks and no dinner order. At this point, I gave up and asked for the check. There are simply too many better options available in the area for this nonsense. Properly train your waitstaff or suffer the consequences. read more

I am a huge fan of their Marlton NJ location so I was really excited to find out they built a brand new one in my new town! I can't say enough positive things about LaScala. The food is always incredible, the atmosphere is great. The wings are my favorite around and the pizzas are so good. The manager, Chris, is also from Marlton location and does an amazing job making sure the customer is 100% happy. It's so similar to the Marlton location, I can't wait to come back. Where do I start--greeted with a poster saying they charge a 3.5% fee to use a credit card, dirty water glasses... not just water spots, but crusted food on the glasses, only to be replaced with even dirtier glasses, red sauce tasted like Prego at best, food came out sporadically... this place may survive because the nearby 55+ community can walk there, otherwise, I had a bad experience and won't be back. read more

This was our second attempt at this place. It was poor the first time too. We thought to give it a second chance this afternoon in case it was just growing pains the first time we visited. Sat at the bar and waited 15-20 minutes. In that time, two couples on each side of us were greeted, orders taken, and drinks brought to them. If that wasn't a sign to leave and not come back, I don't know what is. It's a shame because we live in the apartment complex above the restaurant. Have been to the Pennsauken location several times, always wishing there was a location close to us... our wish came true! I disagree with the other reviewers on so many levels... also, you have to give this restaurant a chance, it's only been open for 3 weeks! The hostess couldn't have been more accommodating while being hammered by questions and impatient people. We ended up sitting at the bar, the bar staff couldn't be nicer while handling a packed house. We had the ricotta board, crispy artichokes, Caesar salad, Spaghetti & Clams with crab (which I requested), and seafood Fra Diavolo. All came out hot, fast, and delicious! This is not a gourmet restaurant, however, it is a fun atmosphere, solid drinks, and above-average food. Yes... they need more staff but doesn't every restaurant since Covid?
