We came to dine here yesterday arrived around 3:30 ordered our food and drinks everything took so long to come to table. We informed server that one drink was not good and her response was that's how they make it and we cannot take off bill. She didn't really check in on us and didn't ask off we wanted to order more drinks. We asked were our food was since it took almost an hour and a half she finally told us they gave our food to the wrong table. No apology No hey we messed up let me make it right for you We decided to cancel everything and give us bill for drinks and paid and left I feel like this place has so much potential but they are more focused on getting money and not customer service. Also manager was not there to talk to Would never come to this place again read more

English Version (Polished but still real): This place has potential, but unfortunately the service was very disappointing. The staff seemed inexperienced and unprofessional. Our server took our order, but when another table arrived after us, our food was mistakenly given to them, which caused a long and frustrating wait. To make things worse, the drink we ordered (the Capirinha) tasted terrible--completely undrinkable. When we politely asked if it could be replaced, we were told no, which was surprising and not customer-friendly at all. Overall, the long wait, poor service, and lack of attention to detail made the experience frustrating. I really hope management addresses these issues because the place itself could be great with better service. The owner needs a good manager in this location read more

Service is stellar and some of the food is amazing, but what should be the star (the meat) is not. The shredded beef empanadas were fantastic and pleased even the kids. The sauces were also delicious and the perfect level of spice to the chimichurri. The drinks were also great. Then we got to the mains and things fell apart. The shrimp was over cooked as was one steak. Medium rare came out at medium well and tough. The yucca and natures were delicious, as was the rice, but the sheer effort to get the shrimp out of its shell (butterflied) was insane. The pastas were just okay. Chicken a bit dry on the linguine and the calamari also overcooked and rubbery in the spaghetti. Mussels were fine in that. All in, just under $200 which is certainly high for what you get. I want this place to succeed - it seemed very empty on a Saturday at 6. read more

Sorry ...I lived in the area since 1985. Got excited when Las Tablas opened up closer to my home. Been there several times. Great atmosphere, and service WAS great in the past. Then I heard the on a neighborhood news ad the place was expanding. Haven't seen much change over the years. It was a favorite for dinner. TODAY we went to celebrate my daughter's birthday. She made reservations for 8 people. We were the first to arrive at 6:15 on a Wednesday. Reservations means they expect us to arrive. It seem they were clueless. For $40 dollars per plate and ordering pitchers of Sangria plus appetizers. We were disappointed today. The service was as if they were not prepared. Not enough help. More people were coming in. Only one young guy that was not prepared and an older woman were the waiters for the WHOLE place. We waited a long time for our drinks. No sauce on our table then appetizers arrived. We couldn't eat the appetizers since we were waiting for the different sauce tray. After a waitress took care of a customer picking up an order and paying, then the waitress went to get the sauce for our table. The dinner plates finally arrived; however, the plates were definitely not sizzling nor were they hot. More like cold. Yuca was not crispy, instead dried. My daughter in law her churrasco was not grilled. No grill marks or even good. Seemed as the steak was tossed on a flat iron. Awful food presentation. We were disappointed. Then we asked for more napkins since not everyone at our table had silverware placed. What blew my mind was our waiter brought half sheets from paper kitchen towels!! We couldn't paper napkins. $40 dollars per plate yet we did not deserve decent extra paper napkins. We ate and sat there watching people as they waited to be served. Out waiter kept walking by us but never looked our way. Never were we asked for refills. Neither were we offered if we wanted to order dessert. I felt bad for my daughter, since it was her birthday and we had mentioned what we were celebrating. It was the worst experience there. However ; It's our last time at Las Tablas. They were not prepared with enough help and were very short handed. The waiter which I don't believe was 21 had stopped serving his customers and was making the drinks by the bar. No bartender. We waited thirsty and finally stopped our waiter to ask for boxes and our bill. We paid and tipped the waiter. He seemed surprised. The kid still needs training. Las Tablas lost their quality in food service. Never again for us. Too bad. read more

I always dine and eat this restaurant They have good food, but for the past two times I'm gonna say within the past 2 to 3 months their food portion has changed a smaller Portion And the price is not cheap. I'm advice. Send them to go back to the old size of meal. The meal is matrimonio which is contain of a steak, chicken and platinum and sweet banana a good portion of it this time is really not enough to feed me and my that's not right and it's not cheap either I called to talk to the manager they told me he's not there i'm gonna try to do it again. I need this to be corrected. read more

Food: 9/10 The empanada combination plate was ok. It came with beef, chicken, and cheese empanadas. The bread was crispy, but the fillings inside were mostly potatoes and not a lot of meat. I would not order that again. The bandeja paisa is "Colombia's most well-known dish," and that is well deserved because the steak was so juicy and was marinated to perfection. There was even more meat on this plate! There was fried pork belly and chorizo as well. The rice and beans went well with the meat. The avocado and fired egg were nice palette cleansers. The sweet plantain was a nice dessert! The matrimonio meal was my favorite! It had angus skirt steak (very juicy) combined with a pollo al ajillo (chicken that was also deeply marinated). I loved the potato and sweet plantain with it. The yuca was tasteless though. Service: 10/10 For a Columbia steakhouse, it was very quick, food came out in 20-30 minutes. Staff were very nice and helped answer all our questions. Ambiance: 10/10 Dimly hit Colombian restaurant set in a romantic setting. I loved that there was a small stage for the band that plays at 8pm. read more

I've always considered Las Tablas a great place, with excellent food, atmosphere, and service. I also visited their Lincoln Park location years ago, which was outstanding. Unfortunately, this will be my last visit to the Six Corners location. The restaurant was visibly dirty--floors covered in food and unclean tables. The empanadas were just okay, but the bandeja paisa was very disappointing: cold food, tough meat, stale arepa, and hard, non-fresh chicharrón. The restroom had no hand soap and was not clean. I ordered coffee and flan--the flan was fine, but the coffee was served with ground coffee in the cup, making the first sip unpleasant. While the server tried, the overall experience was poor. This visit was extremely disappointing, and I will not be returning. read more

So this place is exactly as everyone else described. We were seated right away but then waited 20min before someone came over and just lit the candle but said nothing. Finally we flagged someone down and they said the person who lit our candle was our server! I was like no way cause she didn't even say hi so then luckily we got a new server. The food is amazing and plentiful. They also have 3 sauces they provide which are phenomenal. They had live music which was nice. Our service was still very slow but at least he smiled and checked in after we got our food (40min after ordering) I would go back again but only when I can take 3 hours to have dinner. read more

I came here for the first time for restaurant week! The service was great, everyone was super polite. It wasn't crowded when we went in, I had my reservation at 6pm and it didn't start filling in until around 6:30. I loved the dessert options, both were delicious. I had the chicken and beef empanadas, I preferred the beef over the chicken. I also preferred chicken for my main course over the steak. The steak felt a bit too tough. I didn't give this place 5 stars because we waited 30 minutes just to get our appetizer. I felt like the wait was too long. read more

I was truly looking forward to celebrating and enjoying dinner with our large group; however, the evening ended up being pushed back by nearly an hour due to several reservation and seating issues. To begin on a positive note, the food itself was excellent, and I would especially like to acknowledge the young male host who did his very best to assist us throughout the evening. His efforts and professionalism were genuinely appreciated by everyone in our party. That said, our experience began with some concerns. We called just under four days in advance to make a reservation for a party of ten on a Saturday evening. Unfortunately, the person who took our call did not seem very attentive and was about to end the call without collecting a name or phone number, which felt unusual for securing a reservation. While this raised some initial concern, we gave the benefit of the doubt and looked forward to what had been a highly recommended dining experience. On the day of our reservation, we arrived to find that although our reservation had been written down, it had not been entered into the system. As a result, we had to wait to be seated while our full party arrived. The host kindly offered us seating in the back, but we chose to wait in hopes of sitting closer to the front for the entertainment. Eventually, we were seated. When orders were taken, mine was initially missed due to a misunderstanding regarding a shareable platter. While this was an honest mistake, it did mean waiting about 15 minutes while the rest of the table had already begun eating. Again, understandable, but still unfortunate given the earlier delays. At the end of the meal, we were offered three complimentary desserts, which was a thoughtful gesture and appreciated as an attempt to make up for the challenges earlier in the evening. The food itself was truly wonderful; however, it is difficult to say the overall experience was fully enjoyable given the repeated delays and confusion that pushed our evening back by an hour. I appreciate the efforts made by the staff, but when an experience begins with reservation issues, it is hard to completely recover from that initial disappointment. My recommendation to future guests would be to ask that your reservation be read back and confirmed when booking--just to be safe. read more

Food was great BUT misinformation was given. Went during happy hour and was told they don't do that. Informed waiter that it's clearly written on the board that happy hour was from 3-6pm and we were there at 4pm. Told us the sign was old. Also, on the website it had 2-6pm happy hour with menus but they don't have anything at the restaurant. Never again, well maybe a to go order but wouldn't recommend dining in. read more

Surprised about the one star review on this place coz evetytime we go here the food is really good. We love their steaks so we always order the colombiana or matrimonio. Very tasty even the chicken. Especially if you dip it with their spicy chimichurri. The service could be slow if there are a lot of people on the table but thats always a problem now with restaurant industry because of lack of manpower. The music makes the place lively and always welcoming. It could be pricy but if served family style not bad at all read more

Are you on keto? Or do you just love meat? Well either way this is the place for you! We got the big combination platter for two and what a pile of meat that came out. All of the meat and starches were very well seasoned and cooked. The sauces complimented everything very nicely. We came mid afternoon and it started filling up soon after. Basically only one waitress working the whole room and I can see how some of the service issues arise in the other reviews. I think the bottom line is to go here for really well done South American grilled meat. Expect it to be bumpy, be patient and you'll have a great gastronomic experience! I've been meaning to try Las Tablas for the longest and finally got the chance to enjoy a dinner here. Overall, I enjoyed my experience but I think there are a few things they could work on to give themselves a higher amount of returning customers. The vibe is a lot less stuffy/uppity than a typical steakhouse, which I found to be nice. I saw a band instrument set on a small stage that wasn't in use; but i could imagine it's fun when a band is performing on a special occasion. When looking over the menu it was clear they hadn't been wiped and had old crusty food on it, which I think is something that can be easily avoided. There was a food stain on the happy hour table menu as well so I feel they could put more love into the cleanliness of the place. Shared a couple beef empanadas and cheese empanadas with my mom. I could've devoured 7 more cheese empanada, they were delicious. I ordered a house-made strawberry lemonade and it was super refreshing but I was off put by the fact it was in a glass that clearly had just come out of the dishwasher and was uncomfortably warm... on top of that the drink had no ice so it was a no for me (until the server kindly brought me a side of ice) The steak I ordered was cooked to med-rare perfection and it paired so nicely with the side of asparagus we ordered. My only qualm about the entree was that the potatoes were undercooked and a little hard. I would come back if I'm craving Colombian, but it's not the place I'd go to impress any dates or out-of-town family. read more

Very frightening experience. So after spending a great day at the Kris Kringle market followed by the Lincoln Park Zoo lights, my wife and four teenagers developed a hearty appetite. We voted on some Colombian food and made our way to Las Tablas. Service was slow but I figured Tuesday night and there were about 15 other patrons so maybe an unexpected amount of customers. Anyway, we placed our orders and the food was fine and came out at a reasonable time. The teens each battled their own Churrasco and my wife and I ordered a Picada Colombiana. We were half way done with our meal when from a stack of clean dishes that were meant for sharing of our Picada Colombiana a big healthy Roach crawled it's way out of the stack. My wife started freaking out and I felt nauseous but we kept out composure because we did not want to ruin such a great day in this manner. To top it off we were celebrating one of the teens 18th Bday. The teens never saw the roach and we did not disclose it to them. As soon as we saw the roach I alerted a waiter who swiftly used a receipt he had in his hand to pick up roach. He soon communicated to me that he had alerted the manager who was also our server. 5 minutes later she/the manager came by and was very apologetic and stated that it was not really their fault since the apartments above restaurant had been treated for pest control. From my undestanding when you do pest control it has to be done to the whole building to prevent transfer of pests from unit to unit. Assuming Las Tablas did not want to close restaurant down for a few days to properly treat the whole buiding. The roach crawled out of a clean set of plates which tells me the roach issue comes from kitchen area. Most of you are probably wondering if I got my meal comped.Well, I guess I could have pushed the issue after the only remedy to the issue was some free desert. But to be honest I did not want to make a scene and first and foremost I did not want my kids dinner to be ruined. I opted to pay bill and stay calm, furthermore, it would be a form of bribery and also unethical for me to exchange my silence for a comped meal. It would defeat the whole purpose of the Yelp platform. Eat here at your own risk. I will be contacting the Health department first thing tomorrow. read more

I really enjoyed my dinner! But the overall experience was only ok. There was nothing fascinating to talk about...maybe because of the time we dined. The place was fairly empty, but it was Saturday so I was surprise that there was no music or that it wasn't a little more of a crowd. We made reservations to make sure that we would not have an issue being seated. This was not an issue. Service: Everyone was attentive. If I had to mentioned an issue, it was the communication. We ordered several dishes; including an appetizer. The waiter confused our one appetizer ordered with the full plate ($17 versus $30) Good thing I notice prior to digging in. He seemed confused on how to handle this and stated he couldn't take it back and place the right order... This was a little odd. but eventually after some time he came back to the table and informed us that he ended up resolving and would be charging us the appetizer price for the dish. Food: Absolutely delicious! The portions were large. The meats were tender, and everything was seasoned well without the need for any sauces. Overall, nice place and worth visiting for the FOOD. read more

My one of my favorite steakhouses. I love Colombian food and this is some of the tastiest steak you can have. I love the empanadas here but I don't over do the appetizers as I go straight for the steak and eat it all. My personal favorite here is the entrana which is a skirt steak and my second favorite is the ribeye. Normally I like a ribeye more but for some reason it's the entrana here 100% the steaks come with potatoes yuka and a delicious fried plantain. The chimichurri sauce is amazing and I drench my steak in it. I always add the side of rice and beans. It's the perfect South American meal. The staff here is super nice and it's a very charming decor. The service was a bit slow especially since it was late and empty and the rice and beans served to us were pretty cold otherwise I would give five stars. Live music some nights and they have outdoor seating available. read more

Loving all kinds of food, I have not tried a Columbian restaurant until last night. Having a girls night out made the experience even more enjoyable. Our waitress was stupendous and helpful with the food selections. The pitcher of margarita was so tasty and easy to finish. The ambiance fits the Columbian food and there was live music on the weekends. I preferred the Latino music that they played toward the end of our dinner. Early on it was easy listening pop from the 50's. For appetizers we enjoyed the combination empanadas and my favorite was the cheese filled one. Dinner entrees were great. I tasted the ribeye served with yucca and plantains and enjoyed the meat cooked to perfection. I chose the combination of 2 and had the skirt steak with calamari. All the entrees were grilled perfectly seasoned well and very enjoyable. There was so much food and I will enjoy it for lunch! The restaurant is very clean, it's great for couples and larger groups or gatherings. I will definitely be back. It's located very near I-94 so perfect from the North Shore to meeting my friends from Avondale and Lakeview. read more

Las Tablas - Mango and regular margaritas - Steakhouses Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Food is always good here and the service very attentive. Love the bandeja paisa and sancocho. No wait time,

My husband and I went to Las Tablas in our neighborhood last night. We had only been there once and wanted to try it again. We got there early on a Thursday. There was only one other table of four seated already drinking margaritas. The host sat us and took our drink order. It took a long time for our drinks to arrive as the host repeatedly stopped to talk with another gentleman who was there not eating or drinking. I'm not sure if he worked there or not. I scanned the giant QR code at our table to look at the virtual menu because the paper menu had old prices scratched off with new prices written in with a pen, making their price increases very obvious. We waited and waited. After at least 10 to 15 minutes I awkwardly turned around to make eye contact with the host who was talking with the other gentleman. He took the cue and walked over to us, apologized, and took our order. I ordered the salmon "gently cooked". A while later the busboy delivered our food and I could immediately tell my salmon was extremely overcooked and it was supposed to be topped with two quail eggs. It was a $30 dollar salmon and just looked sad. No sauce. Just dry and plopped on the plate. I patiently ate my broccoli and waited for the host to come over and check on us. I waited and waited. Finally, I walked up to him behind the bar and ordered a daisy cutter for my husband and told him my salmon was missing the quail eggs. He said they didn't have daisy cutter even though it was on the menu so I said he'd have to come talk to my husband to see what other beer he wanted. A bit later he came over to tell me that the salmon didn't come with quail eggs. I asked why it said that on the menu and he argued with me and said that it didn't say that on the menu. I opened my phone and showed him and he said "that's an old menu". I said, "You should probably remove that QR code from the table and update your website then". At this point we were done and definitely won't go back. read more

For those who love a tender, juicy steak and a leisurely meal, Las Tablas is the perfect fit! I have had my my eye on Las Tablas for a while and felt Chicago Restaurant Week would be the perfect time to try out a handful of items from their menu. My brother and I planned to visit the Lakeview location, but unfortunately the grill was down, so we were encouraged to visit the location in Portage Park. We had no plans beyond eating and took the drive. When we arrived the location was very busy -- a foreshadow that the food was going to be delicious but that service would be very, very slow. We were asked to seat ourselves and waited 20 minutes to be visited by our waiter. He apologized and we felt he was genuine so it didn't impact our experience. After we each ordered the empanadas, chicken soup, and skirt steak with chicken breasts our food came out steady, hot, and absolutely delicious. The portions were hearty and on a subsequent visit one portion would be enough for two. We were so stuffed that we got our dessert -- chocolate mousse and coconut flan -- to go. Our restaurant week meals were around $50 each, considering tax and tip, which was a great value for the quality and portions we received. We were also happy that all of the staff wore gloves and masks. We will definitely return, but on a day when we have lots of down time to have a meal just in case slower service is the norm. read more

What a wonderful establishment! So happy to be supporting a local business. Although the service was a bit slow at first, the excellent food and hospitality by all the staff made up for it. That being said, we did come with a cranky 2 year old, and our moods were not the greatest. The server was hospitable and helpful and our food (and drinks) came promptly. The food was excellent. We had the seafood appetizer and it was well prepared. Even our 2 year old loved the grilled calamari and octopus, although the pink sauce was his favorite. He also mowed down his steak, rice, and beans,l; the beans were his favorite! He also adored the fruit plate. First time having papaya and he loved it! As for the adults, as I said, the seafood appetizer was wonderful. But, honestly, nothing was anything but. The steak was excellent! Arroz con pollo was delicious, and I look forward to it tomorrow as leftovers. They have someone performing during dinner and we were lucky enough to be right next to him. Sweetest man.
