As a first time diner here I was thinking this would be a great hole in the wall, however the food was decent however, my pambazo was a little charred with the burnt taste overpowering the main flavor of the meal, my family also had a dish called a Huarache which was given more variety of beans and cheese as well as sour cream! The sauce they offered me were red and green salsas with the green one having a little spice to it but mostly with a watery taste and the red one having a slight more kick to it but having a salty after taste. Another family member having a torta with the meat being a bit tough ( asada ) but the food was decent. However fountain drinks have a refill fee of 2.45 and aguas frescas had also a refill fee with a medium being 1.75 and a large being 2.45. They also offer a snack verity and a candy verity as well. I've eaten here before, but this time around, it disappointed me. I took a star away for false advertisement, another for the lack of additional items to my torta, and another for the 15 minutes it took to make it. I ordered a torta de lengua (a beef tongue torta). I told the guy taking the order "sin verdura" because I didn't want onions or cilantro. Typically a torta comes with plenty of meat, lettuce, tomato, and Mexican cheese (queso fresco). The name of the place was a bit misleading, but that's just the beginning. The price on the menu says $8.00, but he charged me $10, and then added a $1 CC surcharge, again something that wasn't mentioned. So what I thought would be a $8.50 torta, came out to $11.83. To top it off, when I got my torta, the bread was a little soggy, and there was no cheese, lettuce l, or tomato. The lengua was tasty, and that was about it. When I asked the guy about the price on the menu, he said they've been telling the owner she needs to update it, but hasn't had the time. She happened to be right there when I asked, and when he basically threw her under the bus, she gave me a blank look, then continued discussing business with him. Have been coming here for a couple of times now and the food is pretty good. Previous experiences have been great. However this particular visit was the exception. There was a middle aged women behind the counter taking orders. From the get go she seemed frustrated and impatient while taking our order. To summarize, I ordered two plain cheeseburgers among other items. My total was almost 100 dollars. When we received our order my 11 y/o son mentioned that his cheeseburger had lettuce and tomatoes. I was surprised, I mentioned out loud to my son, "oh, yours was supposed to be plain, I ordered it plain." Immediately after even completing my statement , the cashier lady rushed in and yelled "No! You ordered it regular! That's why I even repeated your order to you!" I was flabbergasted and confused because I wasn't attempting to make a huge deal out of the situation. I asked her if she had repeated the order to myself or to the other adult in our party. She then said she had repeated it to someone else in our party. She appeared to want to continue the discussion and she was causing quite a scene. I cut her off and mentioned to my son that he could simply remove the lettuce and tomatoes - no big deal, right? Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily all about " the customer is always right" or whatever but I do believe , as someone who works in the restaurant industry myself, that there's a point in which we shouldn't create conflict and try to resolve issues in a calm manner. I don't know what this woman was experiencing today or if this a normal reaction to situations in her workplace but it's definitely unprofessional and super uncomfortable. Safe to say I won't feel comfortable returning any time soon. My little ones felt super uneasy after the awkward encounter and we honestly didn't really enjoy our meal.We left shortly after. I ordered a wet burrito (red sauce) ... this has to be the best wet burrito I have ever had, it was drenched in sauce!
