Tacos

Super awesome sidewalk taco stand in front of the store. You pay inside and get a ticket to take outside, the tacos are $4 each and quesadillas are $6. Once u get your ticket u order which kinds u want outside. Once you get your tacos there is a topping bar so u can put whatever other items or sauces you want on yourself. It's a great concept and the tacos are all really good. I had one with chorizo, one with carnitas, and one with steak and onions and all three were really good along with the sauces and toppings I picked. It's so convenient to be able to grab food right on my walk home from classes so I'll be a frequent visitor.

Was looking for lunch in the neighborhood and yelp recommended this place. Holy cow was it fantastic! Awesome guy behind the grill and there's a grocery store also so you have your pick of drinks and snacks. Absolute home run 5/5 Pittsburgh is lucky to have this spot. I chose to eat the tacos with a view of the catty and what a lovely lunch.

THE BEST TACOS IN PITTSBURGH! You won't get better tasting and better priced tacos anywhere. I come here at least once a month for my taco fix and they are better every time. Super fast service, in and out in a few minutes. They have the full taco toppings bar also that's always stocked with fresh limes, cilantro, hot sauce, peppers etc. Las Palmas is a staple in my must try food places in Pittsburgh. 5 stars across the board!

Don't know why this place doesn't have way more reviews and hasn't blown up yet, but it deserves so much more hype!! Las Palmas has the most authentic tacos I've had anywhere in Pittsburgh. It's essentially a taco stand outside of a Mexican grocery store -- you can't get any more authentic than that! You pay upfront by letting the cashier know how many tacos you want to get (3 was a good amount for a filling meal) and then you go up to the guy cooking and specify which meats you want in your tacos. You can see them literally cooking the meat right in front of you and it smells sooo good. I tried 3 different ones because I couldn't decide. There's a self serve toppings bar w all the classic options (salsas, guac, onions, etc) for you to load up your tacos after you get them freshly handed to you. The tacos were fire. There isn't any seating nearby which is probably my only complaint so we just ate them on some random steps nearby, but it's such a good vibe especially in the summer. If you're looking for tasty, cheap, and authentic tacos in Pittsburgh, this is your place!

For authentic Mexican street tacos Las Palmas was thought to be mediocre. The Lengua needed more flavor as it was very bland. The chicken tasted all right, but my son didn't feel too well afterwards so not sure how fresh the meat was when we visited. Still on the fence if I will give the place another try next time in Pittsburgh.

I am writing this review to state my case that "Las Palmas", the renowned Mexican taco establishment, is the best restaurant in Pittsburgh. I can hear your voices -- "But Adam, how is that possible?" -- let me paint you a picture. Las Palmas is a grocery store/taco stand that has 4 locations across the greater Pittsburgh area. The two that I frequent are the Oakland location, and the Brookline location. Both are near flawless. To get your hands on these delicacies you must walk inside the grocery store part, go to the register, and ask for the amount of tacos you'd like to order. You pay, and then they give you a slip of paper with the number of tacos you get. The grocery store part also provides Mexican sodas, as well as other various goods. After you get your slip, you head out to the grill, hand the person cooking your paper, and then tell them what kind of meat you want inside your corn tortillas. I usually go for steak, Al pastor, or chorizo. There's also ribeye which they grill right in front of you. After you receive your food, there's a toppings bar that has various sauces, onions, tomatoes, and limes. No restrictions on how much you get. No condiment police here. You can either take it to go or eat is outside. The Brookline location has benches you can eat on in the summer. The ambiance is one of hungry people looking to get a quick bite. One taco is 3 dollars. They are BIG, lots of meat, infinite toppings, 3 tacos is more than enough for even a human being over the size of 6 foot 5 inches. So: to recap -- as someone that has been to las palmas over 100 times (no I have not counted), it is consistently cheap, quick, delicious, and filling. GO HERE NOW OR ELSE!!!

So the tacos are made on the grill top right outside of the grocery store. You go inside to pay ($3/taco) then hand the receipt to the cook and tell him your order. While they make your tacos, you peruse the salsa bar. You can add as much onions, pico de gallo, and cilantro as you want (so I piled up). So, so good. I was searching for an authentic taco place and I found it in Las Palmas.

Food is unfortunately a major scam. The price does not match the quantity or quality received…read more First, they provide a small cup of guacamole for $14. While flavor is fine, it's the same size you can buy at Chipotle for $3. Then, the queso fundido is bad. The queso isn't really melted, the flavor is missing, and they don't give tortillas to eat it with, just tortilla chips. For $14, this is really bad. The chips and salsa is again bad. The chips are so stale which is disappointing. Don't get the fajitas. I got the "mix 3" and ordered chicken and shrimp. There were 5 pieces of shrimp and a few measly, dry pieces of chicken. At $22, fajitas should also come with tortillas. But again, no tortillas are provided. Quite disappointing. Churros are decent and the chocolate ice cream is actually tasty (definitely store bought). Avoid this restaurant if you don't want to be scammed and left disappointed in the entire experience.

Happy Hour drinks: Tocayo Margarita $8 (delicious) Ranch Water $8 (Hubby liked this, not I) Loud, festive music playing overhead. Tables in the middle, booths along the walls. Pretty decor on the walls.

We love this placeeee!!!…read more They have a sister restaurant in Shadyside.. Tocayo... but Totopo is sooo much bigger. Right on the Main Street of Mt. Lebanon, we have been here a handful of times. The restaurant has won countless awards through the years and they deserve it. Right from the jump, you can see the modern and thematic choices that transport you into an ambiance worth the dining experience already. The staff is great, always attentive, and the wait staff constantly will check in on you. This trip, we had earned some rewards (they have an awesome reward program... who doesn't like free food) so we just wanted a quick bite. It was happy hour on apps, so we just got the Carnitas Nachos and Queso. They always give chips and salsa... which is soooo good. We almost ordered the table side fresh made guacamole but the nachos came with guacamole. Let's just say two apps... STUFFEEEEDDDD us. Everything was so good. The carnitas had a wonderful smoky taste and was so juicy. Everything was fresh made. We ate and left happy for only $3.

The chips and salsa are a great start but the meals were even better! My husband ordered two sets of two tacos...not great! He did not need both sides of rice and beans but didn't realize they would bring out one for each order. I picked a combo dinner and both of my picks were delicious. We would love to go back and try even more items from the menu.

We sat for a long time actually waiting for a server to come speak with us and get our drink order. So long, despite not being a full place, that I told my wife I wanted to get up and leave. I was very, very frustrated. I had been glancing at their menu on Yelp and saw some tacos that I wanted to try, unfortunately the restaurant cut their menu back to only five tacos to choose from. I'm guessing to simplify things for the Draft crowd that they anticipated coming. Our server finally came to take our drink order and after so long we knew what we wanted. The server wasn't exactly friendly or attentive. We started with street corn as an appetizer, it was awesome. My wife had the chicken tacos and didn't like them. She said they were mushy and had an off flavor that she didn't enjoy. I had the birria tacos. They were not bad, they didn't come with any sauce/juice as all the other birria tacos I've ever had typically come with. I have to say, I was disappointed in the menu being reduced and other than the street corn app., just wasn't impressed. The service was not good, my wife's taco were bad and my were okay. I'll not be rushing back unfortunately.
