First off the atmosphere is super cute with great decor. Food was fantastic. GET the STREET CORN before it's not available after late October! it was so fresh and dressed perfectly! The barbacoa meat was a stand out as well and the crunchy taco shell was exactly how a taco should be wrapped. So, it has been a hot minute since I last visited this eatery. Now I am just noticing that my last review was in April 2016. According to that review it cost me 8 dollars to get two tacos and a soda. Wow, things have really changed since then, but it is good to know that some restaurants don't change that much. On this day I was checking out guitars at Pittsburgh Guitars which is directly across the street and I was thinking about dinner. I really worked up an appetite doing all of that strumming, plucking and shredding. The lady at the counter explained some current menu items. I thought about the quesadilla, but went for two tacos, the black bean and the potato. They were both vegetarian with some cheese, salsa, crema, herbs on soft corn tortillas. I only got two, but she piled on the toppings and they were huge tacos. She hooked me up so hard and they were super yummy. I had forgotten that their tacos are really good. They still have great service and high quality food. The taco price has gone up by two dollars, but mostly every thing else has stayed in tact. A taco spot that feels welcoming, fresh, and easy to keep in rotation. I stopped into @docetaqueria and it's one of those places that just feels good the second you walk in. Christie (@cmnst4 ), the owner, was genuinely so kind when we talked about coming in-warm, easy to chat with, and proud of what they've built. That energy carries through because the staff was extremely friendly and honestly couldn't wait to make up my order. I love that it's an open kitchen. You can see them pressing tortillas, building everything fresh, and actually talk to them while they're making your food. It feels interactive and intentional instead of rushed. We tried a handful of things, but I have to specifically mention the chicken tacos on a corn shell and the quesadilla because they were exactly what I wanted-flavorful, fresh, and done right. Not over-the-top, not trying too hard. Just solid food made by people who care. And that's the kind of spot I'll go back to. read more

Stopped by for their taco box deal and definitely worth it! The tacos were great, carnitas was one of the best and they're both stuffed full! Very clean, but stark environment. I was there at 2:30PM. My server highly recommended the fish taco. The fish was mild and crispy. The base was a small tortilla topped with a smaller fried tortilla, topped with the fish and mild jalapeño coleslaw. It was small but very tasty. If you follow my reviews, you know that I don't eat dessert. Because I had such a light lunch, I requested their special dessert, Tres Leche. This was a disappointment. It was a large square of white cake soaked in milk and covered with coconut and topped with a slice of maraschino soaked canned pineapple. It lacked the richness that I knew in Mexico. The pineapple was a distraction. There was only 2 other tables occupied while I was there. The server provided the perfect amount of attention and was very pleasant. Somewhat bland and uninspired. All of the food seemed highly salted but generally lacking any other seasoning. The fish taco might as well have been made with a fish stick from the freezer aisle. The two different vegetarian tacos were fine, but somewhat bland. The Dino bowl seemed like it might be some sort of salad bowl, but the lettuce was overwhelmed and wilted while the other ingredients lacked much brightness. The various salsas were fine, but more salty than flavorful. The side of black beans might have actually been the ironic star of the show. In terms of of the overall experience, we ordered takeout and were very happy with the overall process. The online ordering page was straightforward and made it easy to customize each dish. The order was ready exactly when it was supposed to be, and the staff were all very pleasant. If you're hungry after a night out, this might be a reasonable destination for tacos and Mexican-adjacent cuisine. Probably not the kind of place that you really want to seek out. read more

Doce is absolutely one of my favorite taco spots. Every single taco is incredible. My favorite is the potato and the fish. The pollo one is a close third though. The potato one is a MUST try. Their queso is unmatched and so flavorful. They are always on time with my order and always so friendly, no matter the location. The box deal is what dreams are made of!!! No thanks...these tacos were NOT it. Not sure how this place has such high ratings but every so often, Yelp fails me. This place is one of them. These tacos may be considered a solid choice if you've been living on the East Coast but come to the West, baby. We make them better here. My group and I wanted tacos so we searched up places close by to our location. Menu looked promising so off we went. Between the four of us, we ordered the following tacos: -carnitas -pollo -carne molida -fish -steak One star for the fish taco only. Everything else was below average. Even worse, the carne molida was GREASY AF!!!!!! (see photo attached). Plus, the meat looked/tasted like taco bell meat. Unappetizing and cheap. How the hell was it so greasy??? Yuck. Also, wasn't sure if there was option to choose between corn or flour tortilla. If there was, the cashier never told us. FLOUR tacos suck. Customer service wasn't the greatest. The female cashier looked like she didn't want to be there; hence why she probably didn't bother letting us know about the tortilla option. They don't serve water here. Not even tap. You have to BUY A BOTTLE OF WATER. Coming from the west coast, that's not a common scenario, even if it's a quick service casual restaurant like this one. read more

The tacos had this really nice smoked flavor with just a bit of a kick to them, and adding hot sauce took them to another level. Everything tasted super fresh and packed with flavor, and the food came out insanely fast. I also got a churro and it was amazing perfectly crispy, warm, and easily one of the best churros I've had(I got it with the Nutella dipping sauce). This place completely exceeded expectations. I knew this restaurant felt semi-familiar. I have been to the other location on McKnight Rd near Ross Park Mall! The tacos here are the same and just as good! A tasty spot in the South Side for some good tacos! There are no bad choices here, although I didn't necessarily taste any standouts either. The fish taco has a good crispy fish with spicy slaw on top. The potato taco is a great option for vegetarians, although the potatoes aren't quite as crispy as I had hoped. The chicken taco was fine, but it didn't do anything that I couldn't have done at home. The ground beef tacos similarly are tasty but maybe not worth the $4.75 price point. The churro is a nice way to end the evening! I love the Nutella dipping sauce. There are many sodas available as well. The interior is very cool--although there is limited seating-- and the staff are very kind and fun too. If you need a quick taco fix, this is certainly not a bad option at all! read more

The order was delivered to my hotel at the end of the timeline with an in person meet up in the lobby. The order was a single beef taco, cheese, quesadilla & loaded nachos. Also ordered chips & guacamole. Not surprising everything was cold, that was expected. The hotel microwave revived the quesadilla. However the other items soggy. Really cute taco shop on the South Side with a nice selection of tacos to fit any taste. We tried the Americanos, the fish taco, and the carne molida. All were very different from one another but tasty in their own way. The taco competition in this town is fierce and while I wouldn't say these are the best in the city, they're up there. But I'm not a huge taco snob. What I am is a queso snob and let me tell you, the queso here is great. The chips were a little too salty for my tastes though - not sure if they're always like that or just this batch but it did get in the way of my queso enjoyment so that's why I'm taking off a star. read more

I wasn't a fan of the nachos, definitely needed more meat and was overly salty for nachos. They had different types of meat you can add on. I've never had molida(ground beef) on my nachos, I wasn't a fan. However, I did do half and half protein so the chicken saved the nachos from being a disaster. They use a white cheese on everything that works well with some items and others not. My order arrived faster than usual, and I was happy for this because I was starving. The wife and I split the Chicken, Carnitas and Fish tacos and were impressed with the fresh guacamole and pico that accompanied the expertly prepared meats! Deep flavors, perfectly cooked and loaded with generous portions of meat. I appreciated that these tacos weren't too runny and so the corn tortilla didn't get soggy or start to tear either.
