Margarita with warm salsa!
Linda P.

The service: everyone was so kind and helpful. The ambiance: a fantastic little hole in the wall with the perfect amount of lighting, low key, not too loud and very clean. The food: where to even start.....I hit the jackpot here. The salsa tasted like it was freshly made and served warm, so so good. The refried beans (which I don't typically order) were hands down the best I've ever had. The enchiladas were top notch, full of flavor and not overly salty. Honestly, I have nothing negative to say, it's a must try when in Bastrop!!

The margaritas are really good, only one got me messed up super delicious. The food was immaculate tasteful, the only problem that I had and the reason why I am dinging a star is because they did not devain the shrimp. This is a huge pet pie of mine, so I went through each shrimp devainingin it on my own. When I spoke up about the matter, the excuse was that it was busy and that usually they do but they just didn't this time. I felt that to be a lame excuse in all honesty. Yes I would definitely come back. However I would hope that The integrity improves in the future, every plate dished out should always be immaculate, there should be no excuse because it is busy. that excuse worries me that the kitchen could be unsanitary if it is busy, but that is not a valid excuse. This place is very delicious and has potential for greatness with the authentic flavors that it has. Please make sure every dish is perfect and the way it should be. I hope this criticism is taken wholeheartedly and not in a bad way. I look forward to coming back another time .

One of the best TexMex restaurants in the greater Austin area. The la crema fajitas are just so amazing. And they have one special added ingredients rarely seen... sundried tomatoes and perfect little mushrooms in a luscious creamy sauce!!! Very different than the usual onion and green bell pepper. OMG... yes there could be tears it is so good. The balance of the menu features all the classics, including mariscos (seafood) dishes. One small caveat, they are closed on Saturdays. Casual friendly atmosphere. Generous portions, very reasonable and a friendly staff. During the Holiday months (Nov through Jan only) they also offer home made tamales to go!!!

Carne Asada, best I've ever had!

Epic stumbled upon score! Hole in the wall adjacent but still nice enough to take the fam. But the FOOD! OMG no exaggeration here, best Carne Asada I've ever had! And those refried beans, wow! Staff was super nice as well and had tamales and trinkets for sale.

Staff was amazing - big smiles and checked in several times to make sure all was well. Of course, after seeing the reviews and upon our waiters recommendation, we got the street tacos. It could have used a little more moisture but, very tasty overall. The charro beans were amazing. L

Food, Service, and Ambiance were all excellent! We stumbled upon it while picking up a U-Haul rental down the road and sooo glad we stopped! Friendly service, cute and clean with plenty of seating and parking !

Stuffed avacodo:)

This place was a great surprise! So worth the drive up sh95 from 71. Service 100%! Was going to order nachos but asked about the stuffed avocado and on the daughter of the chefs recommendation got the stuffed avocado. It was so good that ordered another to take back to Tennessee. My husband ordered the chicken fried chicken and it was excellent! Thank you for a delicious dinner. Hope to come again soon!

Wonderful service! Restaurant was very clean with lots of seating! The food was great! We went for lunch & was surprised with free chile con queso along with our chips and salsas!

Only American cheese is served. Authentic Mexican food? My ass.

If you're in the Bastrop area and want Mexican food, you can't beat this place. It's my favorite restaurant in the county.

I just say it, best in Bastrop. I was sold when I realized the jalapeños were homemade. Friendly service and great service.

The stuffed avocado was worth the few miles off the freeway. Service was great and kept the fresh chips and water coming.

They do not serve tequila in the margaritas. And the nachos literally have canned cheese. I would not recommend, keep driving.

So much better than the other Mexican restaurants in Bastrop. Extensive menu, seafood options, good green salsa, and good queso.

Ok, so this used to be a favorite spot. Consistent. Good. Great service…read more Lately, it's gone down hill a little. I won't cross it off the list of restaurants I will go to but it has fallen off the high pedestal I used to have it on. Somewhere along the line a new management took over. The menu is the same, but the quality has dropped a little. I usually can't stop raving about my chimichanga with fajita beef, but the meat is...different, like maybe not the same cut, a little less tender and more stringy. It was still good, the taste was good, cheesy and fried to a crisp crunchy goodness, but, just not what it used to be. Wifeh mentioned her Mexican Martini was not the best, but honestly, that depends on which bartender makes them and can vary. I got a mango margarita which I liked, she didn't. She also tried a banana margarita, don't ask me why, she said banana sounded good at the time. While the mango was made with a fruit puree, the banana was made with a liqueur and it was basically like drinking rubbing alcohol. All burn, no flavor. The waitress removed it from the bill at least as we only tried a few sips of that. The kids had no complaints on their chicken fajita tacos and quesadillas. The service was good, the staff didn't have a united appearance though. At one point a teen in a regular tshirt asked us something and it took a moment to realize she wanted to refill our drinks and worked there. Overall, what used to be a go to place we went to when family visits had turned into a less than regular place.

The service was great, my server was amazing and attentive. The food, however, was sub par. I…read moreordered carnitas and the me meat looked like an undercooked chopped pork shoulder instead of shredded or stewed pork. The sauce was good but couldn't cover the taste and toughness of the meat. I've never had pork cooked so poorly. I didn't finish my meal and will not be returning. Even my diet coke tasted rancid, like the lines were dirty. The bathroom was covered in urine and one urinal was covered by a black plastic trash bag. I'm shocked that a restaurant can operate in that condition. Save your money and go to Taco Cabana.

I ordered nachos and my son ordered the hand battered chicken strips. The food came out fast, just as listed on the menu. And they offer both options every day/all day, which is great. She'll come back with her sister to enjoy it again. I had two breakfast tacos: one with egg, sausage and cheese and the other with migas. I really loved the migas. While the first taco was unremarkable, the migas was great. It was perfect, in fact. And it really celebrates their home made corn and flour tortillas. The only thing I didn't like was the salsa. It tasted like canned tomatoes and it was a wee bit salty and not very spicy. I really liked the migas, though. It was made with fresh jalapeño and had just the right amount of heat without needing any salsa. So I think this is one of those places that does some things very well... enough to build up a solid base of regulars, even though some of their other offerings were disappointing, like improperly reheated enchiladas. But if you know what to order, you can really enjoy this place. Oddly enough, they have chorizo on the menu, but don't list it among the available proteins on the breakfast taco menu, which I personally find very strange. Chorizo and egg is such an iconic breakfast taco offering. I'll bet they'd do it justice.
