After driving from Houston to La Grange, we were starving, so we were happy to find Las Fuentes just a short walk from our Airbnb. One of the highlights of the meal was the fresh, homemade tortillas. They were warm, soft, and clearly made in-house, making the fajitas even more enjoyable. The fajitas themselves were flavorful, tender, and arrived sizzling hot. And if you're in the mood for a margarita, be prepared--they're gigantic! Definitely big enough to help you unwind after a day of traveling. The only downside was the service. We came in for a later lunch, and it felt like the staff was eager to clear our table while we were still finishing up. A little later, we realized the staff was getting ready to eat their own meal. I completely understand wanting to take a break, but it would have been nice if someone had simply let us know they were about to close for a staff meal. That bit of communication would have made the experience feel much more welcoming instead of rushed. Overall, the food was the standout, especially the fresh tortillas and delicious fajitas. I went here this week with a friend of mine - close to lunchtime. I rated it at three because I didn't like mine at all but my friends meal looked delicious! I got two enchiladas with a guacamole salad and a cheese puff. I had no idea what the cheese puff was and it was very disappointed to find out it was nothing more than a small taco salad bowl filled with cheese. The guacamole salad was very small. I was not wild about the taste of either the beef or the cheese enchilada. But my friend got shrimp fajitas and they looked good, smelled good and tasted so good! Everything was prepared very well, especially the shrimp. If I go back again, I will definitely know what to order and what not to order lol The staff was very friendly and very attentive! read more

So far I've been there twice in the food has been excellent. I've read some of the other reviews and I do not agree with them at all. I have not tried everything off of the menu so I can't speak for the entire menu, but what I've had has been quite tasty as far as the margarita being weak, yeah whatever I think any one that could finish that grande has to be a large person that can handle their liquor I live an hour and a half away and I will be going back!!. read more

I wanted to like this place more than I did. The place has ample seating, we were seated almost immediately after entering, and tended to well throughout the meal. I ordered the two taco dinner. It was okay. My biggest complaint was about the shells; they were not fresh made and clearly came out of a box. Hard shells would've been okay if they had been fresh made. Soft would've been better still. My brother-in-law ordered the cheese enchiladas and really enjoyed them. My sister and niece ordered nachos, which they split between them. Again, okay. Biggest complaint was the guacamole, which clearly came from a store bought tub. Again, c'mon! The margarita I ordered was certainly festive, very limey, loaded with fruit (and a cherry!), but was very weak. Again, okay. They could do better with their salsas. It's southern Texas, after all! The complimentary salsa was okay, warm and not very spicy. I asked about a hotter salsa, which our waitress did not recommend; it was made from habanero and was too hot even for her. Overall it was ok. The salsa was excellent but the chips were so stale we hardly ate any. I just got a quesadilla and it was ok also. Nothing amazing, nothing horrible. Service was good. Nothing worse than sitting down, placing your order, and 3 minutes later your food is being delivered to your table, and I'm talking about food that requires being cooked. Stopped here with my parents on our way down 71. My mom frequents the area and was saying we should stop for lunch at this Mexican food restaurant in La Grange it's easy to get to and not far off the freeway. So we did. The entrance is nice and spacious, plenty of parking (some shaded). Right away they come out with warm chips and salsa and a small queso. Salsa: my mom kept raving about and even ordered some to go; my personal opinion was it was just ok and I didn't eat a ton of it. Its not spicy. I really only like my salsa warm if it's going to be like a fire roasted style, which this is not. Queso was decent. The margarita was beautifully designed! I just ordered a plain margarita on the rocks with tajin rim. And they gave me a whole presentation with fresh fruits. It was a nice to touch, because the liquid inside tasted like a store bought pre-mix and I couldn't taste. The tequila, not fresh squeezed lime and high quality tequila - but thats ok! It was still good We ordered lunch platters but since we were in a hurry, we all just went with tacos and enchiladas because we knew they could have those out in 10 minutes or less. And they did! Super speedy service. The cheese enchilada and the chili gravy were pretty good. I would eat them again. But the refried beans to me were not anything special (i should've ordered charro but I forgot) and the rice was just OK, the rice did look fresh house-made and had diced pieces of vegetables in there If I lived there I might frequent, i dont know that i would recommend getting off the freeway to go here specifically. Got here around 12:30 Sunday,so it was getting busy but we're seated quickly. Service was fast, really fast. Barely ordered margaritas and food and the margaritas were on the table. The jumbo Rita's come with a lot of fruit on them. By the time I get the thing where it can be picked up to drink, my taco and Chalupa plate along with girlfriends fajita plate. As I finish my taco, my hot plate arrives w/ enchiladas, tamales, rice and beans. Everything was delicious but I have to say the tamales were awesome. I wish they offered them for sale by the dozen. Damn the cost, it would have been worth it. If you have been to a Las Fuentes restaurant before, you know what it looks like so no new surprises here. Selection is overwhelming. The food was bland and not super tasty. Luckily for them, they're open later than everyone else in this small town. i pushed to eat at a local restaurant instead of buying groceries for the quick one night stay. I would defer to subway and skip this joint. We wanted to love it but the guacamole was chunkly cut avocados with some seasoning there were no onions tomatoes etc to be seen. We stayed at a nearby container Airbnb, Flophouse. Get some grilleable meat, cook it on the on-site grill, grab some beers and enjoy dinner under the stars instead. Skip it. Really cute place w/ fast & friendly service. Were there on a Saturday around 11:30. They start u w/a warm salsa which was good & queso which has little taste & very watery. My husband said his chicken fajita tacos were O.K.. our refried beans were tasteless but the rice was O.K. My taco meat had no seasoning. The queso puff is served like a cup I guess because it is so watery. No way to eat it unless u cut into it which then spreads the stuff all over ur plate. My chalupa had no flavor due to unseasoned refrieds! BUT the weirdest part of our meal was the "guacamole"! It was whipped!! It was like unset pudding w/no seasoning, except for a flavor we couldn't identify. Some restaurants thin out their guacamole w/peas to stretch it. Maybe that's what happened here? Don't know. Third time here and last time here. Person I was with said Margarita tasted watered down and here fajitas had no flavor. I ordered the summer plate and my taco meat was no even lukewarm. Cold meat in my taco. My guest said that there chicken enchilada meat and taco meat were not warm nor hot. The avacado salad was like baby food.... Puréed and little avacado taste. Frankly was really disappointed so.... I will tell you eat somewhere else. The fact that they served cold taco and chicken meat at 1:30 is sad. Cook in kitchen needs more training. Oh my gosh, bring your stretchy pants. This restaurant is tucked away in a residential area. It's very festive, with bright, bright, colors. We sat down for a late lunch, and they were still half full. The menu is huge, just like the plates! The tables are big because they have to be. Our lunch specials were all 2 plates each. So much food! Chips and salsa were very good. More chips please! I slammed down the taco and chalupa. The enchilada came on a plate by itself. So big! Even I didn't eat it all! Definitely some good Mexican food, and the crowds at night proved that. You couldn't get near the place. We all enjoyed it. Next time your in La Grange, Las Fuentes is your place! read more

The avocado salad was supposed to be "mashed avocado on a bed of lettuce " instead it was green smoothie on a very tiny 3"x4" single piece of lettuce. The enchilada was so salty I couldn't finish it. They a special on margaritas, so a group of us decided to go. Ordered margaritas with a shot of amaretto thinking they were $9.95. I asked the waiter if that was the price or would they cost more. He said 'no' on the extra charge. We got the bill and they were $12.95. Found out from the manager that the waiter spoke no English. Argued my point to no avail. Need staff that can communicate and truthful advertising on specials. They lost a customers today. read more

Second trip here. Always pass through and finally stopped last year - nope! I know it's a Sunday early evening and it's not busy - no excuse for such SLOW service. Wait staff moved at a turtle pace. Food came out cold. Certainly not freshly prepared. I ordered Beef Fajita and my husband ordered a Mixed plate. The Beef Fajita was chopped up like Asada- and cold. Solid authentic Mexican food and so so so much more. While off the immediate freeway a mile or so.... you gotta try this place. Generous portions served from a HUGE menu by a friendly staff. First of all, the service was superb! Our server was friendly and very attentive. It was my first time at Las Fuentes, but my dining companion had been there multiple times. She recommended the quesadillas, so that's what I ordered (al pastor). The first thing I noticed was the "guacamole" served with the dish--it looked more like light green pudding than actual guacamole, and I honestly couldn't even taste any avocado flavor. So, a fail on that, one of the key items upon which I judge a Mexican restaurant. The second fail was that my quesadillas were soggy on the bottom, making them hard to pick up & eat by hand... I had to use a fork. By the end of the meal I still had half of them left on my plate, and I declined a take-out container because I had no interest in completing the meal. I may go back to Las Fuentes if someone else in my party really wants to go there, but otherwise I'm done. read more

In town for a work thing, had to wait for office to open after lunch. Wife and I decided to try a new place. Smelled good just walking up to the building. Inside is decorated well, Mexican style tables and chairs etc. We were seated at a little table near the bar. The chairs were a little too straight to be comfortable but the food more than made up for it. The wiater brought chips and the standard red and green salsa, but also queso! They were all good. The red salsa was chunky with vegetables and tasted great. We poured it into the queso after trying it all seperate for a while. I ordered a beef Chimichanga. The food was great, beans and rice (which are my measuring stick for Mexian food) were good, the rice maybe was alittle light on flavor. The chimichanga was good, but I found I wasn't a fan of the ground beef type ( I usually get fajita meat). The amount of meat and it's consitency turned the chimichanga into a meat/sauce puddle once cut up. It still tasted very good though. Wifey ordered chicken flautas and she said they were great. The portions were more than we could finish and they were from the lunch menu. I was hungry before we arrived and I couldn't finish mine. Left at least a 1/4 of it at the table. Dear god. Should we start with the fact that when we walked in practically nobody was wearing a mask? Or all of the unbussed tables on the patio where we asked to be sat? Or that it took us asking three times/fifteen minutes to get a high chair? Or the Trump caravan that pulled into the parking lot with their flags as we were getting ready to leave? Actually, the porch was directly across the street from a house that was draped--literally draped--in Trump regalia. And turns out that the reason we were at this horrible restaurant on Sunday was to meet up with friends from Houston and San Antonio to toast Biden's victory, so it felt AMAZING to do that with the house in the background. Thank you! Oh, the food here is gross. Like really gross. One of us split open her spinach enchiladas just to eat the spinach and the other could barely eat his burrito because the meat was so alarming-looking/tasting. Beans and rice were edible. The frozen margarita was comically bad. The red salsa was OK, but the green one was like cilantro water. Service was on par with the kitchen. I mean, we'll always look back fondly on this place because we were with our Texas pals on a special day, but seriously, find somewhere else to eat if eating good food is your kind of thing. read more
