Friendly service, great food. I love the frozen margaritas. Everything I have tried has been great.

Ate here only once, there was only another couple there at the time. The food was ok, but it wasn't great.

I'm not a fan of the food but the service was good for some very energetic ten year olds celebrating a birthday. The staff was very patient and never complained. I just chose the wrong thing. My co diner's fried catfish looked amazing. read more

We are from the Fort Worth area. We come to the LaGrange area twice a year for the RoundTop antique show. We eat at the la Marina every time. It has never disappointed us. Good food! Good prices! Good service! My husband and I are not big eaters. We always split something when we eat out. The picture represents a 1/2 order. The food is pretty good. The entire building is moldy, though. The staff is slow and seems depressed. That could be because the mold is affecting their health. The owner should do something about the hazardous working conditions. read more

WOW. I have never eaten here until yesterday when I placed a take out order, and never will be returning. To begin with the gal taking my order clearly had no idea what she was doing or where she was considering I asked for a side salad on the seafood platter MULTIPLE times, whilst she continued to tell me there was no side house salad, but half orders of the main menu salads. I gave up and accepted one of those, till the very end of the call when she said "Oh yeah that seafood platter comes with a side house salad which dressing would you like?"... omg. Fast forward, I get to the restaurant to pick up my order, and the restaurant doesn't look very clean... I leave with my food and shortly get a call back from them saying, "You forgot your salad!" I go back to her handing me an empty box and pointing at the salad bar... Im not sure if that's the policy for togo orders, but if I had to make my own salad why would you ask why dressing I wanted. At this point I was upset and just wanted to go home and eat. I made my salad and as I am walking out this gal says something snarky about me making my salad (I was silent the whole time till she said something) I then turned around and looked at her and asked for the managers cell phone number and her name. I woke up this morning throwing up, and hate to think I also have food poisoning after this horrible experience. I work in service industry and have never experienced something like this. Just happen to stay the night,here in LG, for the antique show up the road. She wanted Mexican, I wanted steak. This place delivered both and was delicious, generous, reasonably priced, with a friendly staff. If I'm ever here in LG again, I'll beck back. read more

Walking distance from the Hampton inn, we tried this restaurant after reading mixed reviews. Very Good Tex mex food. Large portions good food. Restaurant is very plain, but it was much better than others in La Grange. They have happy hour 5-7 alcohol half price. A margarita for $2 well worth it. We were on our way from Austin to Houston and La Grange is the perfect halfway point. I'm not a regular and this was my very first time through. I had to stop at a gas station and use the rest room and I asked if there was any place good around to eat. The gas station attendant pointed us to La Marina. When you pull up, its a tiny, brick building and it really reminded me of a building that should have been a Moose Lodge or a VFW instead of a restaurant. Maybe it was at sometime, I don't know. The parking lot is pretty small. Most of the spots are actually right up against the road with no curb or divider at all and they aren't marked. Walking in though, it smelled delicious and we were really pleasantly surprised with the food. The salsa was more liquid than chunky, but the flavor was delicious. It was the perfect blend of spice, tomatoes, cilantro and onion. I hadn't read Andrew's review, but I also got the combo place with a flauta, taco, chalupa and I got a chicken enchilada with sour cream sauce. My favorite part of the meal was the Chalupa. It was covered with refried beans, flavorful taco meat, lettuce, tomato and guacamole. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. I had my father with me, a Michigan native, and he even went so far to say that it was the best Mexican food that he's had in Texas. If you are traveling between Houston and Austin or are just on TX-71 for some reason, give La Marina a try. I don't think you will be sorry you stopped. read more

I live in Austin but am originally from Houston. I have to travel to H-town at least 2-3x annually. When I do, I usually make La Grange my half-way stopping point. I sure do miss the Bon Ton. I also miss the Cottonwood. However, the Cottonwood is now occupied by a Mexican and American food restaurant called La Marina. I can't comment on the American food, but I've had their Mexican food several times; the most recent time being this past weekend. I ordered a combo plate w/ a flauta, taco, chalupa and a cheese enchilada. All items were very good; not great, but still very good. Their salsa is pretty watery but it has a mild kick and is very fresh. Service is fast, small-town friendly and efficient. I've certainly had better mexican food, but this is still pretty good, especially considering you're in La Grange. I still think the Bon Ton would be a better choice, but even it's replacement (Mak's Roadhouse) has gone out of business. Maybe somebody will lease that building and re-open the Bon Ton? I sure hope so.... read more

Walking in I wasnt impressed... It was empty and dark. The server was super sweet and ready to serve. The salsa was runny (but thats what i like). I was very hesitant to order but I got the cheese quesidilla plate and it was delicious! Dad got beef fajitas and they looked good. Mom got the #2 and she said it was wonderful. I was pleasently impressed. It was definitely one of those "hole in the wall" wonders. I will be returning! read more

We were three and started out with their home made fried onion rings. They were hot, crispy, and just delicious. Debbie and I ordered two #2 Mexican plates with different options and Mark a hamburger. The Mexican plates were attractively presented, very tasty, and served on a hot plate with generous portions. The salsa was tasty but very mild and they couldn't offer any thing hotter. The atmosphere was drug store metal chairs and table. It was crowded and noisy. My husband and I have lived in Texas for about six months and this is truly the best steak we've had. The salsa was homemade and delicious. I tried my husband's steak and it was cooked perfectly. I had the fajita burrito and it was huge and very tasty. Service was awesome our server was so nice and even the people eating there were friendly. Sure the place is old and could be updated but you're there for the food not the aesthetics. We will definitely be back and refer this place to everyone read more

Great place to get a steak. I had the Tampiquena plate. It was excellent. It came with a cheese enchilada,pico,and guacamole. The salas was also great. The chips were fresh. The service was also great. I recommend it highly. The others at the table had chopped steak and enchiladas. They really enjoyed it. The price is very reasonable. read more

Stopped here while driving back to Austin from New Orleans... Had the #10: taco/tamale/chicken enchilada plate. They brought the taco portion out first as an app (I love it when Mexican restaurants do this--wish more did!) and the chicken enchilada was especially tasty. There isn't any "cool" ambience of which to speak but the waitress was friendly and attentive. Can only vouch for the Tex-Mex, but there is Seafood, Italian, and American (burgers, Chicken Fried Steak) on the menu as well. If you find yourself starving while driving on Hwy 71 between Houston and Austin, you may find yourself pleasantly sated by La Marina, too. read more

Great service with a continued smile. If i were rating on service alone it would be a five for sure. We ordered the pancakes and sausage and the biscuits and gravy. Both were hot and tasty but nothing over the top. I think i should have tried something off the Mexican breakfast menu. Stupid me it is a mexican restaurant. Food was just ok. Nothing special. My problem was how dirty and outdated it looked even for an old restaurant in an old town. Even the sign outside looked dirty. It may be the cleanest restaurant in town but little things like they make you balk. Bathroom was clean but needed an upgrade and salad bar looked fresh but everything else just looked really tired. The plates were big and there was a lot of food and a big menu. Seemed popular with the locals. The waitress was a real sweet older lady who happily told us that she had been there (over a decade) and the history of the place. read more

Since moving to La Grange this has become my least favorite place to eat. I do kit recommend it at all. The food is buffet style. Even the food that you order from the kitchen tastes like buffet food. I give it to stars cause the one saving grace is the friendly service read more

Food is great, prices are awesome and most of the employees do an amazing job, Jannie especially. We request to sit in her area when we go as there is one waitress who always messes up our order and is so very slow. Buffet is always well stocked and salad is fresh. My husband and I wanted a great hamburger but Dairy Queen was way too crowded and Back Porch BBQ was sold out (again?!?) so we ventured to La Marina. My husband got a cheeseburger and onion rings. I got the hamburger and fries. OMG! His onion rings were absolutely amazing! The burgers were very good! (Beat Dairy Queen for sure; and that's saying a lot because La Grange DQ burgers are dang good!). I ordered a frozen margarita which was superb; and ordered cheese queso (with the free salsa and chips) as an appetizer. Best cheese queso in La Grange. We will definitely be back. Our waitress was Jan who is amazing; she's attentive and so personable. No wonder everyone who came in wanted to sit in her section. A little more expensive than DQ but that's because of the margarita which was way worth it! Do not overlook this place. We ate here years ago, and the food was mediocre; the margaritas way too sweet. But it's since been perfected and well worth the stop. Nearly everyone seated around us were locals and that says a lot! read more
