Based on a review by someone on NextDoor, I decided to make the extra drive over to try this place out. There were pros and cons, but overall, nothing extraordinary. The bathroom was very clean. I sure appreciate that! The chips and salsa leave a lot to be desired. They provide thick, cold chips and 3 types of salsa, none of which I liked. There was a green salsa, a burnt flavor salsa (darker in color) and the standard salsa which did not seem freshly made, by any means. I am always looking for a good taco burrito in town and was thrilled to find it on their menu! However, I asked if they have ground beef and was told no, so I quickly changed my order away from the taco burrito. You can't have a taco burrito without ground beef! I had a chicken enchilada with green sauce. It was fine. Daughter had a chicken quesadilla. It was fine. My margarita was very good! Quite strong and once used to the strong alcohol, it tasted good. They do have an extensive menu and I wouldn't mind trying other items, but I didn't find a reason to make the drive back over there. I am happy to see they are succeeding. read more

I was sitting and another women helped me thinking she was my waitress, she served me right away. Really excellent food! Excellent service also. You must try the cactus soup. Really delicious! This place has been around FOREVER (since the 1950's) and little has changed; it's still offering the same satisfying "old school" Mexican comfort food. Their yummy soups fill my belly (and heart) with warmth on cold, rainy days and I always come here whenever I have a hankering for a crispy shredded beef taco. And yes, they are known for their delicious Margarita drinks (bet you can't have just one!). Many of their staff have worked there for as long as I can remember and are absolutely WONDERFUL. Las Brisas also holds a special place in my heart because in 1959, my parents' garden wedding reception got rained out and the owner of Las Brisas back then allowed my parents and their guests to come and take over their basement to continue the celebration until the wee hours. So my family and I have been longtime patrons since then, and about 5 years ago, we began a new tradition of celebrating family birthday dinners here because... well, it just seemed appropriate. read more

We always pass by this place and have been wanting to try it so me and my husband finally decided to do that today. At first glance the restaurant is a hole in the wall and usually those places are really good. The host said the time for food to come out would be about 20 minutes which is no biggie. We sit down, they take our food and drink order. The restaurant is full but no one has their food or drinks, we later find out the table next to us waited 30 minutes for a plain salad and by then we had already waited 40 minutes and still no drinks. They are very low staffed and the waitresses avoid contact and are rude. When we asked if we could just pay for our drinks they made us wait another 20 minutes. read more

This is a steady reliable Mexican restaurant. We've always drove or walked by, and it's always looked large in size/space and we've seen it busy with customers dining outside as well as seemingly empty like a ghost town while open, so were fairly curious to the point of eventually checking it out. It felt reliable and a place I'd return to, 'tho not necessarily make it a point to rant n' rave about to the point of craving, at the same time if in the area and feeling like Mexican food, it's a solid good choice to dine at. There's not an abundance of Mexican restaurants in the area that's walkable, but enough with a short drive where there's competition and options to choose from. This is a go to place when I want to eat Mexican food close to home. The food is good. I like that they have a lot of combination plates to choose from. My favorite is the bean and cheese burrito and the cheese enchilada. The enchilada sauce is the best I've had anywhere. The combos also come with a cup of soup or a salad. I usually get a salad with oil and vinegar. The lettuce is very fresh. The margaritas are awesome with just the right amount of tequila. The chips and salsa are good and they bring you two different kinds of spicy salsa. I always ask for a side of pico de gallo to add to it! The service is great and very friendly. On the weekends there is a jazz singer and he also plays guitar. It's a nice way to have dinner. The decor is kind of run down and old but it shows that is has been around for a long time. I recommend this place if you're in the area. tip: the parking lot is small and can get pretty crowded so I suggest to park on the street if you cant find parking in the lot. read more

So, how do you make me pleasantly surprised?!?! Well, you kill me with kindness, and awesome service. So, a small party of 5 last night. We grab a booth in the back - of adequate size for 6 or so. We have a waiter bring us piles of chips - and the salsa (both kinds) were hotter and more yummy than usual. It was empty when we arrived - except for a couple people outside. But within about a half hour - the whole place was pretty packed. We had a waiter getting our drinks, a waitress taking care of our food needs, and the other waiter there checking on us pretty constantly. Not to mention the food server guys refilling our water, taking empty plates, glasses, etc. And they are tag teaming the whole place - a constant update, refill & spot check. Very impressive. I order my usual - the # 1 - Taco, Chile Relleno, & enchilada - and, knowing I don't care for there "beef" or whatever that concoction is ground or chunky - I go with chicken (see, old dogs can learn new tricks) The chicken was real tender - and cooked right - just lackin' a lil panache.. or something.. But, recommend a chicken taco there any day. Maybe I will try their shredded beef again next time... lol The murky colored margaritas were super as always - This is the only place I get blended margarita's at. My typical is a Cadillac on the rocks, but not here - Cuz they are just great blended. I still have not figured out why they are the color of dirty bath water - but they are one of the better margaritas in the South Bay for sure. (I say that, cuz you still get lil chunks of ice at times that clog the straw - some day, they will invest in a new blender I hope) Oh, and lets not forget the "live music" - an older gentleman on synthesizer who sings.... He has been here for years, and he was totally on last nite... funniest thing: The aiky breaky heart in spanish - good touch... I almost prefer this to live spanish music being piped in over aged speakers. Give the place a little bit more of a personal touch. Overall, service was spectacular - salsa kicked it up a notch, and food... is about the same as it always is. I went here for the first time last night for Cinco de Mayo. The atmosphere is fun, this particular night and weekend nights they have live music and a little dance floor where my toddler had the best time rockin out while we waited for our food. The service wasn't the best, but I don't think that's normally the case based on other reviews. I think it's just because we went on a "Holiday". The food was decent but not the best Mexican I've ever had. I would go back again though, it's great for families and within walking distance from where I live. read more

Las Vegas...ohhh sorry, Las Brisas! A nice little Mexican restaurant located in the south bay, not really in a "touristy" spot, more of a locals place. Parking lot holds about 10 cars, if it's full street parking you a-go. Upon entering there's a nice little bar,not very big but they have what you want. Very typical decor, good fast service. Chips and 2- kinds of salsa before your meal. Offering everything like traditional combinations,Mix n' match how you like, great chicken enchilada's,tamales and chile relleno. Las Brisas is definitely an Iconic restaurant franchise in the South Bay. The waitress gets a 5 star, the margaritas get a 3 star, as always a great Mexican restaurant should make a great margarita and serve its customers great quality tequila drinks. Thankfully Tequila is becoming very popular and customers are paying attention to the cheap well tequila and the junk it is. Back to the food , service and overall experience , I like the older more authentic tile and arched walkways, this is a sign to customers we have been here and we are authentic. The new places like Fridas are nothing like an authentic Spanish restaurant except for the staff. If u took out the staff at Fridas would u know it was Mexican food ??? No. There u go. Las Brisas food carnitas was very good, but the owner needs to kick up the overall quality. Maybe fix a few things like the outside parking, and facelift the place , don't change it. I went there for lunch yesterday and it was not bad. The chips and salsa are almost great. I love that their chips are home made and very crisp but I would have liked another salsa choice like a simple pico de gallo (their house salsa is good but I prefer a little more body to my salsas). The service is great. From entering to exiting I felt welcomed and well taken care of. The food is good. I ordered chicken fajitas and my only complaints about the meal were that the beans were a little too salty and I thought the chicken was a little bland. I also have some questions about their guacamole. It was really thin (not chunky at all) and almost had the consistency of something pureed and perhaps store bought. It too was overly salty. Not bad but definitely not great. The menu is what you'd expect from a typical Mexican restaurant. We ordered two combos....shredded beef burrito (comes with rice, beans, soup or salad, and chips & salsa) and beef enchiladas (same extras). We called in our order and walked from our house. The takeout containers were paper plates stapled together and the soup came in a styrofoam cup. My guess is that they don't have to go orders very often. No big deal though. The food was...fine. First time here. Was greeted at the door by a nice yet timid man. Was sat in the back booth. Unfortunately we are directly under the speaker. Hardly hear what was being said. Nice If you're overweight the tables move to adjust for your size. Now let's got to the food. First the chips are unsalted but warm. The $6.25 guacamole is literally a 1/4 cup of mashed avocado. Salt and some lime with cilantro. For just being avocado the price could have been a tad lower. I will not order it again. Was a little confusing ordering my plate. It was not disclosed that the shredded beef came with potato (I do not care for them). The size was perfect for lunch. The rice was not overly seasoned. It mixed with the rest of the food on the plate. A good accompaniment. Both the rice and beans were hot. Which is amazing! There are NO REFILLS. That is a big deal. I nearly walked out. I was talked into staying. I'm not so disappointed. The ranch is awful and the carnitas were dry! But overall not a bad experience. This will be my only trip here. read more

After many years of driving by this place on Artesia, we finally checked it out on a whim last weekend for lunch. What a pleasant surprise! We arrived with some tired/cranky kids, and almost considered leaving. But the waitress, I wish I got her name, was so incredibly friendly and accommodating. She went out of her way to make not only us feel comfortable, but also our children by doing things like drawing funny faces on their cups, bringing them special sauces for the chips, joking with them, and even bringing them candy canes. She also offered to make basically any child-friendly meal we wanted whether or not it was on the menu (and we ended up taking advantage of that). We called her the Child Whisperer! The menu was large and varied, and the comfort food very good. It arrived hot and fresh and we all enjoyed our meals. My eldest said, "this food is amazing!" and asked if we could come back for his birthday lunch. We ordered a couple of drinks and were surprised to see that they have what I believe is a full bar! My margarita was very good and apparently many agree as every table seemed to have margaritas on them. The decor seems original and adds to the charm of the place. Also a nice patio out front. You can tell that there's a lot of love and pride in this restaurant which has been here a very long time. We enjoyed our first experience and will definitely be back. read more

This is a great place, everything I have tried on the menu is worth reordering. First off, some of the best chips and salsa ever! I usually get a margarita, cuz it's massive. I've had almost everything from many lunches, but the best dish isn't on the menu anymore but they still make it. I always map it out and they understand me, Two Eggs on Chicken. Everything comes with really good beans and rice, it is a lot of food for a slim price. If you find yourself there at Christmas time, you're in luck, cuz they have the most demented robotic Santa Claus there. Say it with me, Cadillac Margarita!!! Oh yeah! They have some of the strongest, margaritas around. I kind you not, one margarita you're happy, two margaritas and you are drunk! Good chips and salsa and friendly service even when you've reached that second margarita and everything becomes a little blurry. It's one of those mexican joints where they have the beans with the gooey cheese on top and soft flour tortillas. Abondigas soup is A-OK as are the bean and cheese burritos and carnitas platters. Be careful when you park at the parking lot next door, they have now posted signs threatening to tow. My husband and his best friend ditched school one day back in high school. The Jeep ran out of gas a few blocks away. They pushed their car up to Las Brisas and had lunch while waiting to be rescued. The boys have been coming back here ever since. Las Brisas starts you off with awesome salsa. That roasted one in the small container packs loads of flavors. Order a side of guacamole and add that spicy, smoky deliciousness to it and you will end up eating that for lunch...like I did on more than one occasion. Their margaritas could kill a pony...a blissful, happy little pony. Order the traditional on the rocks to get the full experience. Although their flavored, ice blended ones are quite yummy and almost as equally potent. As starters: Albondigas (meatball soup) tastes like my friend's mom's recipe. The green salad comes with a variety of dressing. What surprises me is that they offer French dressing. Nobody else does that any more these days. We recommend Arros con Pollo, beef tacos, tequitos, enchiladas and carnitas. We keep driving up here from the OC because we crave the usuals so we haven't ventured into their seafood entrees just yet. The three times I wandered off my usual path, I wasn't happy with the fajitas, carne asada, or that experimental chicken in mole sauce (not on the menu). On certain nights, they have a live one-man synthesizer band to entertain folks.
