El Tarasco is located on Pier Ave along a bunch of other shops and restaurants. Parking is street, and you have to pay. It was $6.25 for 2 hours. I ordered a deluxe burrito with shredded beef! I honestly did not like my food. The taste wasn't great & there were large chunks of fat still on the beef. Overall, these place has cute vibes and I love how breezy and open the restaurant is. I love how they open the side up so the store still gets airflow & all the Hermosa passerby traffic. I probably wouldn't come back here for Mexican food. read more

I came here on a Friday night with my husband since he was craving Mexican food and we always walk past this restaurant going home. The staff was so kind and we got complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered the Chicken Soup here. Chicken Soup - Obviously, you're not really supposed to get the chicken soup here, but I am on a diet so I needed to get a healthier option. The soup itself was flavorful and light veggies and chicken. It came with rice and onions (you can order tortillas on the side). The chicken in the soup was pretty tough and difficult to chew, however they gave a LOT. You definitely get a bang for your buck if you're trying to eat high protein. Although I could have done without the cars honking while being impatient waiting for parking spots. Not El tarasco's fault. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito and it was tasty. Cheese was all melted inside and the tortilla had a nice browning. You would be surprised how many spots don't melt the cheese thoroughly! My only feedback, I would have loved to have eaten the burrito without a fork and knife. The burrito fell apart on me as I was eating. My friend and I came to eat on Sunday, July 12th and we were overcharged. We ordered two agua frescas which costed $3.75 each while the receipt showed $5 each. We were also charged $1.50 for a mystery item that we did not order. When asking the hostess/waitress to correct, she immediately became hostile and defensive, exclaiming that "she does not make the prices or keep profits for herself". We calmly replied that we figured as much, but thought it was important for the restaurant to ensure that they were charging patrons according to the menu prices. She continued to be defensive and begrudgingly subtracted the overcharge instead of correctly ringing up the items. It's never too busy, so you should be able to get a table right away - either inside or outside (much nicer). The service has been great every time. I don't want to say the tacos aren't authentic but it's not what I'm used to from tacos at least but I'm sure being right on the beach in a bustling area plays a role in that or maybe it's the region the restaurant comes from? My s/o liked the tacos but I really enjoyed carnitas enchiladas with rice and beans. Mix all that shit up together and scarf scarf scarf mmm.. our total bill for 2 orders of enchiladas plus 2 orders of asada tacos was only $36. That's what I call a steal, my friends. Well worth it. The service was fantastic. Wish I remember the servers name but she helped us switch tables so we were able to watch the basketball game even though it might not have been convenient for the restaurant.
