Not much to say here but just excellent tacos. I've tried a number of different ones and all are really great. My wife is a vegetarian and she just loves their veggie options. The tacos are on the smaller side so it does take 3-4 tacos for a meal (if no sides) but that is a good thing in that you get to taste all the different options! I rarely eat breakfast out, but this past weekend I was walking by on a Saturday morning and thought a breakfast burrito might be the move. I stopped in to Guisados and ordered the Chuleta con Chile Verde - pork chop in chile verde with crema, diced tomatoes, onions, and jalapeño over scrambled eggs. My wife ordered the Mexicana - diced tomato, onions, and jalapeño scrambled with eggs and topped with salsa and queso amarillo. We took them to go since we were almost back to the car. By the time I got home, I was pretty hungry. When I opened the bag, I found what were essentially kid sized burritos. Even my wife immediately commented on how small they were. Definitely one of the smallest burritos I have ever had. The flavor was good, actually very good, and the sauce was solid. Unfortunately that was also portioned light, with the container only about half full. No chips with the burritos, and they were $10.50 each, which was higher than the listed online price. I love the Burbank location. The Long Beach location was good. So when I saw there was one near LAX I had to try it. Unfortunately it was not good. It was really early in the morning like 930am. So I expect food to be fresh. Non. The shrimp was. But the rest of it was lukewarm. The shrimp needs seasoning. Good sauce but not enough. Flavors are all there but when it's lukewarm and not hot. It is not good. The place also is not well cleaned. Tables were sticky. And restroom reeked of urine. It's 930am. How is it that bad already? read more

So happy I discovered this place!! It's close to home and work and the tacos are REALLY delicious!! I love that the tortillas aren't fried like their competition around the corner in Hermosa!! after enjoying the tacos the other day from a different location, we made the stop here a little closer to home. Never knew this location existed of all times we've passed by it. It's camouflage to the parking lot before the pier. Small parking lot and weird entry to it. The location wasn't as busy as the last so I was skeptical. We ordered pretty much the same thing, fish tacos and bistek en salsa Roja. They were good! I think we had a little more beans per taco and the tortillas were not as good. I mean still enjoyable. The customer service was great and the workers there were very attentive. We sat outside in the nice sun and overall I'd say it's still worth visiting. read more

This location is fun cause you are near the beach. Their food is absolutely delicious and always hits the spot. I always go for their Sampler and their ceviche tostada and Agua de melon it's not too sweet and refreshing. The Young girl at the front was very sweet and loved the vibe of the cooks I always like to see people who love their job. Their parking lot is very small maybe like 6 cars fit there but there is more parking across from the restaurant as well. Arrived at the restaurant around 7:15. The person taking orders must have been having a bad day because she wasn't friendly or hospitable. Took our order and the delivered food made up for the bad service. Salsa verde taco, fish taco, mushroom taco plus quesadilla and cheese tamale. The masa on the tamale was heavenly. Soft, moist and delicious. Tacos were a little spicy but so very tasty. Noticed that staff were taking in napkins from patio before 8 so we thought they were closing. I thought the tacos were fine. We're in LA so there's a taco spot every 15 feet lol. I've had better but these weren't awful. Came here bc I wanted to try the taco sampler and it was a fine enough experience. Of the 6 I would only need to eat 2 again (chicken mole poblano and pork cochinita pibil). The others were okay. I have no idea why anyone would ever order the chicharron. That was such an interesting texture I'd never need to eat again!! Haha But the staff was lovely, restaurant was very clean and they have a mini parking lot which is amazing for the area. Had a bite of my sisters shrimp taco and it was nice. They had a wide variety of tacos and tamales available and the servers were excellent at recommending which ones to try based on taste and spice level. The servers also brought out the food quickly. This place is the perfect compliment to a trip to Hermosa Beach, where beach culture reigns supreme. After a walk by the beach or some time in the ocean, these bites are exactly what I want. This is supposed to be a restaurant review, but destiny clearly had other plans because somehow YOU became the plot twist of my entire night. I think it was almost 9pm. I was circling the beach parking lots like a lost Victorian ghost, starving, stressed, and waiting for the ocean to fix my life. I had eaten nothing but a sad tuna sandwich that I'm convinced did more emotional harm than nutritional good. Then I saw your restaurant glowing in the night -- warm, golden, dramatic lighting like a spotlight saying: "This is your moment." So naturally, I BUSTED a U-turn so intense I'm amazed the universe didn't pause the scene and add slow-motion effects. I walk in. The steak aroma hits me like a cinematic slap. Juicy, rich, theatrical. Then I see you behind the counter with this calm, soft energy like you've tamed many hungry goblins before me. I tell you: "I have $11. I'm starving. I'm fragile. I need tacos before I faint." You didn't judge. You didn't flinch. You didn't call security. No. You asked if I wanted a drink and then casually delivered the line that may haunt me forever: "The horchata's on me." Sir. That is rom-com behavior. You can't just SAY things like that to someone on the brink. Then you applied your employee discount like some kind of culinary guardian angel, dropping my total to $7.92. I tip $2, because respect is respect. BUT THEN -- the universe, dramatic as always -- decides to sabotage the moment. My phone tap fails. The machine freezes. You ask if I have a physical card. If you've never had Guisado's before, I would recommend getting the sampler platter. If you're HUNGRY, you can probably eat the whole thing yourself or easily share it with one other taco lover if you're ordering other things. Their tacos have a distinct flavor that you won't find anywhere else. I've never been to this location before, but the flavors and the quality of their tacos were the same. Consistency is KEY. We did try their tamale which comes with a fried egg (YUM) on top and it was a bit on the dryer side. They keep their place very clean. They are also dog friendly. Every time I go to Guisados is always a good experience. I've been going for years and tried this spot a couple of times. All their different locations taste the same, which I love. The tacos are just delicious, it's like trying the real traditional Mexican dishes in a freshly hand made tortilla. My fav are steak in salsa roja, chicharrón (it's spicy), cochinita pibil, carnitas en salsa verde. The horchata is also good even though it's on the sweet side, and there's an option for the cold brew horchata which is great! I meant to take pictures but I inhaled my food so fast that I forgot. If God made tacos, these tacos are what he would have created. I got a steak taco, chicken taco, and an elote tamale. Normally, I have to cover tamales in salsa because they are so dry, not here. The tamale was so sweet and moist that it didn't need salsa. The steak taco with the avocado was freaking perfectly stewed and seasoned. I add a dab of habanero hot sauce just for heat, but it didn't need it. The chicken mole taco with a couple onions was consumed in two bites, just perfect. I love the food at Guisados so much that I go out of my way to stop by a location if I'm near. From echo park to Boyle heights and Long Beach so I was excited when they opened something closer to me in the South Bay. Ive even put on friends to this purveyor of Mexican classics. But it's been 3+ times now that I've frequented this Hermosa beach location and 3+ times that I leave feeling cheated. Their tacos have more beans and sauce than any actual food. The portion of the actual guisado they serve is absolutely laughable. I don't know if the kitchen staff need retraining or if they like to feel like they're getting one over on the clientele. But I would stay away from this particular location unless you like eating puros tacos de frijol. read more

Review for aguas frescas only. I am a sucker for a good agua fresca, but only if it is freshly made. The stuff that comes out of the machines is ok but it's basically just sugar water. I think the aguas frescas here are freshly made. If not, they fooled me. They have a standard horchata one but also offered some different interesting ones, like a cold brew horchata and their take on an Arnold Palmer (Armando Palmero--half lemonade and half jamaica). The cold brew horchata is a regular horchata with cold brew coffee thrown in and it was delicious. The Armando Palmero was tart and refreshing. I loved it and could have drank endless cups of them. I would have loved to try their food but we already had ordered food elsewhere. This location is just a stone's throw from the Hermosa Beach boardwalk. read more

I was first introduced to Guisados in Echo Park and loved it! I never get the same vibes from the Hermosa location, but it's in my hood, and I enjoy numerous tacos there from time to time.... The other day I ordered a breakfast burrito to go. I was on my bike and I wanted to take it home. I usually don't like to go food, as I like to eat food fresh, but the situation was a bit different. When I got home, they gave me the wrong burrito. There was no way I was going to ride back so I ate the whatever burrito when I ordered a chorizo burrito (honestly I don't know what it was little half inch squares of meat no spices no potatoes nothing) I called later and had a terrible connection so noisy, three times so I gave up...drove by there in my car today and the guy was not helpful whatsoever maybe he didn't believe me as there's always somebody different at the counter there. It's hard to get to know people or them know me. I left empty-handed and very disappointed. I don't know if I will return again. I think I'm done too many good places to have tacos. read more

Been wanting to try this place as we were able to walk to the bars right after and the food was alright. My friends and I all tried different tacos and while we liked the meat, the tortillas were not our favorite. Even though they were pressed and cooked fresh, something about the flavor wasn't the best or maybe just wasn't my favorite. I got one beef taco which was yummy but I had thought was going to be sliced beef rather than shredded and marinated. The chicken was a hit but was super spicy, a lot more than we expected but luckily I'm a huge spice fan. We all said we wished there was an option to do them street style with onions and cilantro and have some salsa options on the side as the tacos themselves were a little basic. The chicken one only had a scoop of chicken and sliver of avocado and the beef was a scoop of beef and beans. The tacos were a bit too simple and the tortillas weren't our favorite so I think overall maybe the tacos weren't our style. I got the sangria from tap and they put fruit in it which was cute. Tried this place for a random taco Tuesday and to be honest I was kind of disappointed. There was no real taco Tuesday deal which is fine, but unfortunately all of the meats tasted the same to me. These tacos were just ok, nothing spectacular for the price, and honestly were served to us kinda cold (the tortilla) The best taco I had was the shrimp taco, we tried a quesadilla but the cheese used inside was not a melty cheese so it had a very off-putting flavor and I ended up trashing it. The service was fine, as you walk up to a register to order. The gal working the register was cordial but honestly not overly friendly or even very memorable, the interior of the restaurant reminds me of a fast food joint, and the outer patio area was small but cozy.
