I came with a group of friends on Saturday and had a wonderful bottomless brunch! The staff was very friendly, and the food came out quickly. I kept things simple with eggs, bacon, homefries, and toast. A simple fare which nonetheless was delicious. But most importantly, I never got to the bottom of my glass. read more

Never been more disappointed In a restaurant. Was expecting to have a good time with my friends while being here but the service from our server was beyond horrible. The pizza here tasted like chef boyardee! When you come here expect lacking service and awful food. The reason I gave one star was because the margaritas were good but not worth the 20 minutes we waited to order drinks each time we wanted something. read more

I used to really like this place when it was the Halstead Grill. This place use to do nachos, that instead of using tortilla chips, they used tater tots. Totchos as they call them. They were fantastic, so good that I used to order this as my main entree when this dish is really an appetizer. The dish was large, the tots were covered in a cheese sauce and a Smokey tasting salsa, jalapeños, a dollop of guacamole and pico de gallo. The added grilled chicken was a worthy addition with a very generous portion. I will order this all the times. We actually used to go there almost every two weeks. The price was also good. I recall it was around 12. Many of the other dishes were also excellent. This time I came back now that it has an improved interior and another name, Lark's. I'm sad to say that what they gained in looks, they now missed in the quality of the food. The totchos are not the same, in fact I will not order them again. Barely any cheese, barely any chicken and a different salsa. The flavor was off. The price went up, a lot. 16 We also ordered a Cuban sandwich - 16 dollars as well. It that was really good, but 16 was pretty high. For dessert we had the brownie a la mode. The Brownie was good but the ice cream was not. Cheap vanilla ice cream. 9 dollars In all I was left disappointed. Everything that I had tried in this place when it was the Halstead Grill was great and reasonably priced. Now, I can't say the same. Prices went up, quite a bit but the quality of the food did not improve. The service was good and the waiter took out our sodas from the check when I gave him feedback. Well done. In all I'm not sure we will come back. Other things may be good but then the prices are so high that I'm not sure we want to give it a chance, pay a lot and be disappointed. Shame. read more

We did the bottomless brunch today and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The drinks were free-flowing, servers were attentive, and food was delicious. I had the Ultimate Chicken Breakfast Sandwich, and split a brownie sundae with a friend, and the portions were large. The only reason I didn't give a five star rating was because of confusion over our reservation "grace period." According to our reservation, we were supposed to be given 15 minutes grace period. Seven minutes after our reservation time, the hostess called me, asking where we were. I told her that we were just a few minutes away, and that we would definitely be there within the allotted 15 minute grace period. She instructed us that they could try and hold the table for "a little longer" but that they couldn't hold it for the full 15 minutes...Luckily, we arrived in time, but just be aware---don't run late for a reservation if it's busy, no matter what the reservation information says! read more

We had the most supreme wait staff- Matt- our table had a deep convo on Britney Spears efficacy on live singing vs performing. Looped our server (Matt)- he sided one side is the table. Flew in from the Bay Area and was starving for good food. Found Lark was in the area so we decided to go by for food and drinks. Let me tell you...it did not disappoint! The service we received, after a long day of traveling, was absolutely amazing! Major shout to Jon who created delicious drinks and made our experience there! Very attentive and could not recommend this place enough as a result. The vibe was great as it was a fun atmosphere! read more

First off, I love the environment of lark I think it's super cute and cozy. The back patio is something we didn't expect it to have and it's so nice and private. We had the pumpkin ciders and honestly we loved them so much we could come back just for these ciders they are delicious! The breadsticks are some of the best I've ever had, super fresh and the fact that they gave us a big side of marinara sauce is a huge bonus lol. We will definitely be back with some friends to try out their brunch because all of their other food looked amazing! read more

Outstanding service, food and drinks! Ambiance was perfect, you can sit inside and people watch from the front or enjoy the outside in the adorable lit up garden area! We started with the cheese stuffed breadsticks and marinara, which was cooked to perfection! The meatballs, the pizza, everything we ordered was fabulous! Literally, everyone working went above and beyond to make our dining experience a memorable one! I definitely recommend trying this place out, I know we'll be back real soon! read more

Lark is an upscale pub in Boystown with a full wood fired pizza oven and a large patio. They cater to a wide and diverse audience in their eclectic bar and restaurant. They are on Halsted between Addison and Belmont. I attended a surprise birthday party here on the back patio. The staff did a great job with heavy appetizers and a nice bar setup. Their patio area is set up like your cool friend's backyard with a huge television, lots of patio furniture, and other decorations. You are even surrounded by real fire escapes and apartments in a urban area. The food was good and inventive with great flavors. The bar staff was mixing up nice drinks and pouring a good selection of wine and beer on a rather hot and humid summer night. Inside the setup was a bit more awkward with lots of stairs to enter and exit all the rooms. Unfortunately I did not get any of the wood fired pizza! Lark is likely a popular place with many people. The main theme is sports without being a bro hangout. We had a great time here, and you may too. read more

Just moved to the neighborhood and quickly found my new spot! I've been here three times and each time was great. I love the environment, the staff is absolutely wonderful- super attentive and sociable (shout out to Kelly who was a rock star with my order modifications). The food is great- happy hour deals make it even better, so get there before 7! They even carry the beyond burger which is a nice change from most restaurants who have a measly microwaveable black bean patty, much appreciated. I only removed one star because the old fashioned i ordered was steep in price. I have a feeling I'll become a regular here. read more

LOVED THIS PLACE! My boyfriend and I live in the area and wanted something away from all the preseason MLB action a few blocks over. I am so glad we came across this gem. We came in on a Friday at 6:30ish for a quick dinner and were seated immediately. The place was not empty by an means and continued to fill up through our time there. Props to the friendly host for being prompt and explaining happy hour/October specials. Our server Kelly was a peach! He was so friendly and knowledgeable of the draft selection. He explained every last thing I had a question about. His suggestion for my drink and appetizer were on the point. TRUST the process with this man! We went with the cheesy breadsticks and the Italiano pizza to share. It was definitely enough food for two people. I would definitely recommend getting an app with the pizza if you do plan on sharing. The food was great and came out in the expected time. For drinks, I went with a $10 beer flight and the fella went with a 312. The draft selection had a very good variety to choose from so no complaints on that end. We will DEFINITELY be back. The service was on point with everyone being so friendly. The food was exactly what we wanted and soooo good. Good crowd and overall atmosphere in the place. Good prices. Five stars, no question. See you again very soon Lark! read more

I'm guilty of having a bitter taste in my mouth from the prior restaurant in this space, Halsted's, which IMO had bad food and service. Hence, since Lark was the same owners I hesitated to return and had low expectations. Let me eat crow, those expectations were exceeded. Lark seems to do everything Halsted's did wrong, right. So much so, it's prob not even fair to be comparing the two. In fact since it's a different business so now I'm second guessing myself for comparing the two. The service was awesome - friendly and attentive and helped us newbies navigate the menu. Food was tasty and a good value and portion size for the price. My one negative and it is MINOR is the prosciutto added to the meat pizza after the 'za was cooked. Cold chewy meat on a hot pizza - odd. But everything else we ordered was great (including the adult beverages). They also have daily specials to lure you in during the week. But again, the staff that served us deserve the kudos bc they made us feel so welcome that we want to come back. All in all a great experience. But, as a neighborhood resident maybe I deserve to lose a star or two for being so hesitant to try Lark sooner. read more

I'm so happy I found this place! My boyfriend and I came in for a less-Cubs-fan dinner before a home game on a Tuesday night. Fair warning: Tuesday night is trivia night, but there's no obligation to play. We'll likely come back to participate- it looked fun! We walked in and stood sort of awkwardly at the door (clearly first-timers). Someone eventually came over to guide us to the host stand (further into the room, on the left) where we would be seated. Everyone was SO kind and attentive through the entire meal. Our drink and appetizer order came out quickly and in the meantime, we received a free sample from a beer rep. Who doesn't love free beer? I loved my Dark Lark cocktail- probably will be my last summer-y drink of the season. (See ya, summer.) It had black raspberry liquor and lemonade- I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to taste their alcohol. The prosciutto and argugala pizza was great and came out super hot! It's pre-cut so no awkward table cutting to worry about. Unfortunately we were in and out very quickly; we had to get to the game. But I can't wait to come back and spend more time here. Dark wood, leather couches, a fire place AND 80's music videos? (See poor quality photo) I can't get back soon enough. read more

This place is seriously so shady, I knew I should not have come back. They add a 20% tip to the bill without mentioning it--leaving room to add more, as if a tip hadn't already been added. This was for a table of just four people. It's truly awful; I'm not returning. They give gay-owned businesses a bad name. read more

I wouldn't recommend unless you have a reservation - even if their website says they have a ton of availability. We checked an hour before and saw there were tons of open reservations so figured we'd be fine. We went at about 530 on a Saturday and were told it was a 10 minute wait. 30 minutes later we were told no chance at a table (even though there were several open ones) and to just take bar seating. Wasted our time, because we'd of just left if they had been honest up front. Shame because the food / menu looked very good. read more

Don't bother tipping. It's included in the bill and they don't mention it to you. Avoid this places mediocre and overpriced food and drinks.

I've been to Lark multiple times and typically have no particular complaints or raves about the place. I came in with a group of 7 Saturday for brunch at 1. It was rather busy and our server Martin took about 15 minutes to come over to our table - no worries. We went ahead and put our drink and food orders in then. After about 45 minutes, we hadn't received food, we drank all our waters as well as our drinks. We had seen other tables seated after us, although smaller, receive their food while we were waiting. In the meantime, we had asked for a couple of the orders to go because our friends probably didn't have time to eat there. By this point one of our friends had to leave to catch a flight, and I politely asked Martin if we could just cancel his order since he wouldn't be able to eat it. He snapped back that if there was another big table before us which was why our food was delayed, and that we should have said something if we were short on time - as if not having food for an hour after sitting was completely normal. No apology, no courtesy, nothing. It felt like being at Ed Debevics, except that there was no joke to be in on here. We resorted to going to the bar to get drinks. By this point, another person I believe to be the manager offered us a round of complimentary purple shots and said it would be another 15 minutes for our food orders to come up. This was nice, although it would have been nicer if Martin had come by earlier and said the kitchen was backed up and it would take longer for our food to come out than usual. We suspect perhaps he forgot to put our order in earlier. We got our food and it was fine. By this point another friend had to leave soon and asked if he could get his check. Martin said we were all on one check and wouldn't accommodate. Fine. We got our check and nothing had been comped, and the 18% gratuity was already added. I presume that this was because we were a party of 7, but it was clear they knew service was compromised. As someone who worked as a server, I would have still left a tip. However there was just no acknowledgement on the restaurant's part that anything had gone wrong, other than some cheap purple shots. Anything would have helped to stave off a 1 star review, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. read more

Lark has great food & a great vibe! The staff are all great. Be sure to ask Jon at the bar to make you something delicious! Enjoy!!

Waited 30 minutes for the server to take our orders. Got our waters refilled 3 times before we got our drink orders and still was charged full price for food and drinks. We had 4 different people help us for different things and as a very patient person I am highly disappointed. As friendly as the staff was this was a poorly ran establishment. I have nothing bad to say about the personalities of the staff, but the obliviousness was uncanny. The server asked about another round of drinks and didn't even wait for a straight answer and brought back $75 worth of drinks that we didnt order. Was not the best experience overall. Also... who serves a $25 watered down margarita. read more

You should be ashamed! You tried to charge $5 just to get in your cheesy little joint on the Market Days weekend! Then you served "food" on paper plates and watery drinks in plastic cups. Service was horrific and the "food" was worse. RATS - big ones - are scurrying about your patio (and you can bet they know how to get in your kitchen and dining room!) Then you have the nerve to ask a complaining customer to contact you privately, thus avoiding letting anyone read on Yelp how you resolve issues. For shame! NO other restaurant charged a fee just to walk in the door during a busy festival weekend. Money grubbing! You seriously should be ashamed of yourselves. I can only imagine how much business you lost because of your asinine decision to extort a fee from your customers! read more

Lark - Yikes! - Pizza Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

This play is a great spot for brunch or dinner, right in the heart of Boystown. First, the aesthetic of Lark is cozy. Lark also has a top covered back patio, which helps in the summertime to beat the sun but still enjoy outdoor dining. The menu is decent with a lot of different options and great drink options. There's also a lot of great events, like drag shows and free bingo with prizes (on Thursdays). If you're out and about in Boystown, I highly recommend popping in. One note to Lark: please consider adding Apple Pay/Google Pay for a paying method. It would be nice not to have our cards touch other people's hands. It'll also reduce the back and forth with the sever. read more

Arrived at Lark and asked if we could sit outside. They said no there were no seats. There were but they were 4 tops and obviously the didn't want to give them to a party of 2. We ordered our drinks and waters. Then when the waiter came back we ordered our food and I asked for more water. The waiter virtually disappeared. There were no barbacks doing anything at all. Finally I had to get up out of my seat and go to the bar to ask for water. The bartender blew me off totally and the owner had to step in and bring me water. Can you imagine? Then my friend got his Pizza, I didn't get my dish. He asked the waiter for cheese and hot peppers for it. The waiter again disappeared. He had to get out of his seat and go get those items himself. My food never arrived after my friend ate half his pizza. I finally found the waiter and he magically found my food once I complained. (Isn't it funny how that happens?). The table next to us had the same issue - one person was eating their food and the other wasn't getting his. These were not complicated orders - I had a sandwich. The other guy had ordered wings. The food was good but certainly not good enough to endure this bad service. It wasn't even that crowded really even with a street fair going on. Overall I'm not going back and I suggest you don't unless you have lots of time and don't care when you get your food. read more

Came here through a Groupon valentine dinner and it was a complete mistake... Service was not bad. Our complaint is the food and the value for money. For $80 between 2 people, we received 1) a very small bowl of salad 2) 2 meatballs for an appetizer 3) a main course with a chicken fried to hell - literally so hard that I could barely bite into it without breaking my teeth 4) a drink that was half off on the day we came in (so like $5 worth) On top of that, they had the audacity to slap a 18% automatic gratuity between two people. Granted it was Valentine's Day, but seriously? I thought groupons were supposed to bundle up deals and give you a good value for what you were buying for.
