Lark is located squarely in Chicago's Gayborhood, which I assume is why they host a weekly drag brunch. Otherwise, it's a pub and gives off that vibe. We made a reservation for the drag brunch as part of my friend's bachelorette weekend. When we arrived, we were seated in a side room that had no other guests. The show was clearly happening in the main room, which was busy and had a fun atmosphere. Being placed away from the event felt very misguided and significantly impacted our enjoyment. We persistently asked to be moved into the main room, and about an hour in, we finally were. From that point, our experience improved vastly. I had an espresso martini and avocado toast. The drink was excellent, but the avocado toast was a bit soggy. I'm giving three stars because I appreciate that they eventually moved us into the main room, the drag queens made a decent effort, and the drinks were good. Got tickets for St. Patty's Day drag brunch with friends and we had a blast! We used Eventbrite, and got a choice of an entree, a shared app, a shot, and bottomless drinks. I think we paid $70ish each for our tickets, which I think was worth it for the amount of food and drinks that we got. I ended up getting the cinnamon toast crunch shot (don't remember the actual name), the lemon coffee cake starter, the burger for my entree, and the (green!) mimosas. Our server was great - pretty attentive and very funny. Everything we got was great - I enjoyed the burger and the drinks were perfect to celebrate the holiday. The performers were great! The queens were so fun and we had a great time watching the event. I will say the restaurant is broken into two sections and we were sat in the sit room (not where the main entrance is). I wish we were sat in the main room because the performers and host/DJ spent most of their time in that room. The queens would come to our room, do one small routine, and then go back to the main room. Kind of disappointed in this but overall we still had a great time and really enjoyed the performance. We had a birthday drag brunch here and it was great! Our server was very accommodating and nice. We had about 20 people and they sat us in this back room area, we were no able to see the show fully, but the performers more than made up for it by coming back and performing for us like a private show! It was amazing. Food was pretty good, they are known for their pizzas and I'd say their breakfast pizza was a favorite. They also had solid wings. Drinks were good, the unlimited drinks were nice but I think I'd just stick with the mimosas. Def recommend doing a drag brunch here at least once read more

We returned here during another recent visit to the Boystown section of Chicago, and I'm glad we gave this bar/restaurant another chance. When we were here on a Thursday night they had a drag queen hosting BINGO and doing a performance after every few games as well (and some of the prizes she was giving out were quite good!). We had a seat at the bar and each ordered a beer, I ordered the chicken pot pie which came with a caesar salad and my husband had the poblano burger with fries. The service from the bartender/servers wasn't the most attentive but the food was good and prices were reasonable. Beers were $8 each, a cocktail $14.95 and both our entrees were $19. Again, I'm glad we returned here to give this place another shot - and I'm happy to raise my rating of Lark from the 2 stars they were worthy of during our last visit, to the 4 stars they earned for this most recent one. read more

We came here for hh deals before a cubs game, not realizing how it was not near the action and in a different part of the neighborhood. Therefore it was quite empty on this Tuesday night. My hh white wine was pretty awful so I switched to a glass of rosé of the regular menu. I also got the Buffalo cauliflower, which was just cauliflower drenched in sauce. The sauce wasn't good and had a weird aftertaste, and the cauliflower should have at least been breaded or fried. They come with rubber ducks, which is always a fun surprise to see which ones you get. We ordered the Winter Pasta, which was really good. It had a unique flavor profile but had a kick to it. We split the Buffalo Cauliflower, as well. However, I think my favorite item that we got was the Caldo Speziato, which is a pizza with hot giardiniera and hot honey. It was amazing! I don't like when out with a group of friends having to review a bill, a quick look to make sure the right number of entrees and drinks are on there and it's time to pay - especially when we have somewhere to be. To my shock and disappointment, I was overcharged for multiple glasses of wine on the bill vs the menu. Being able to trust the price in the menu is the price I'll pay is pretty fundamental to operating a successful business. If adjustments need to be made queue them up then reprint the menus, as well as adjust the online one - and as they had us scan a QR code this seems pretty easy to update. However, the host immediately put me at ease--she was an amazing greeter and set a welcoming tone as soon as I walked in. Honestly, if the vibe had been off, I would have left, but she truly sold it! We dined in on a Monday night around 7 PM. Our server was outstanding--attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. The decor was stylish, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the seating was very comfortable. Our server took our orders promptly, and everything came out on time. The drink specials were great, and overall, the low-key vibe was exactly what I needed after a long weekend. The Food: The pizza was cooked perfectly--not doughy at all, which I really appreciated. We wer invited for a breakfast brunch for a birthday. It was actually my birthday so of course we would go. The entertainment was Venus C, doing drag lyp-syncs and that was fun. Pricey due tot he fact that I don't eat that much and I don't drink bottomless anything as it's way too filling. So we asked the waiter to separate our bill from the party of 12. He couldn't but we asked not to charge us the brunch price and we would pay for our individual at the end by giving our friend what we consumed and drank. He agreed and everything was fine. The mimosa was excellent and the breakfast was great also. But here's the issue. The bill came and of course we were keeping tabs on our consumption. After having a $700 bill it turns out they charged us for the full brunch price. Ummm. We drank 2 mimosas and a breakfast plate. Not the brunch menu. Even after telling the waiter he said it was too late and they still charged us the menu price. We decided to not create a big deal since it was a new experience and many new friends we met that day, needless to say it was a bad experience with the bill, but I would definitely go back, but not in a large group as they can't separate bills and it seems to cause confusion. They would of got my rare 5 star, but not after that confusion. Still, I like to give honest reviews and their salads are excellent and the mimosas are perfection in spice! First of all, the patio during the summer is super cute! We've been here multiple times and somehow had never made it back there. The inside is a little dark and dreary, a lot of dark wood like an old school bar. The duck mules have a cute little novelty in that each drink comes with a little rubber duck on top - as far as how they taste, they're are a solid 8/10, not going to knock your socks off but they're quality drinks and they have a really large variety so they're fun to try. The blueberry is my favorite! I've had brunch there once, the food was unremarkable but I was there for the bottomless and they were great about keeping my drinks full. The other few times I've had pizza of various kinds, all Neapolitan style. They're not going to win any awards, but they're always solid and you're not going to regret ordering it. This was a weird experience... We came for brunch with our friends that got married last night. We had a group of about 14... asked about separate checks when we made the reservation... the person we spoke with said "no problem!" We arrived right at 11am. At 11:20, the server, Noe, finally took our drink order... then at 11:45 took our food order. Again... we've been there 45 minutes and you're just now taking our order? The menu says tables have a two hour max... interesting... and dude had one other three top. The place was not busy. A couple of us ordered bottomless mimosas... could've fooled us though. I had to get up twice to find our server to ask for refills. I wanted to split an entree with my partner. Noe tells us that we CAN'T share a plate of food... that we HAVE to order separate entrees... Then he tells two of our GF friends that they don't really have a GF menu... just to let him know what they don't want (e.g no toast, sub fries). I wanted a bagel... which btw, you cannot order on its own... you HAVE to order it as an entree add-on. Well... even though bagels are clearly on the menu, they haven't had bagels in awhile... Food came out. Three orders were wrong. They were corrected relatively quickly. Food was VERY mid... lukewarm stuff I could make at home. Bill comes. Were informed- no separate checks... and of course no one knows who we talked to on the phone. My boyfriend and I Venmo'd our buddy for our meals. We each had an entree, bf had one cocktail, and I had bottomless mimosas. With tax and 20% auto-great, our portion was $142... IKYFL!!! Pleaseeeee tell me why a breakfast sandwich on a hard ciabatta roll with a small scoop of "funeral potatoes" was $34? Drag performance was wonderful! Here's the thing... we dine out a lot and this is obviously a very competitive neighborhood... plenty of options. The experience was unsavory... if I am spending close to $150 for brunch, I expect great service and food. Lark really missed the mark. We stopped in for an early dinner this weekend and sat on the back patio. I loved all the plants and lights out there, it was super cute and had quite a bit of seating. The inside area was homey and had exterior windows that opened to the seats by the street. Our server was very friendly and attentive. My friend ordered the bacon cheeseburger, it looked greasy but he ate all of it and said it was juicy and well seasoned. I ordered the caprese sandwich. I did really enjoy it, although it was cold and the bread was not toasted at all. I expected a warm sandwich but I still really liked it and ate the whole thing! The fries were a bit overdone but didn't manage to ruin the meal. I was there with a group of 6 people and from the beginning they did sit us until the group was completed, I understand that part but I try to sit my self at the bar to order a drink an they didn't let me cause that was not my table!!! Your bad behavior speaks louder than your response. Original review: I used to love the Lark. From the boozy brunches, to Bingo night, and just a random evening, there was always a good time to be had. However, the past couple of times I've been, it's been really disappointing. Unfortunately, a lot of the bad behavior has come from Ralph, himself. When I arrived at Brunch my friends mentioned that the server rudely told them that they needed to hurry up and order because there was a table that was arriving in about 90 minutes. I didn't hear this myself, so I took it with a grain of salt. But I told them we could hang out at the bar if we were having a good time. As I'm finishing my sentence, Ralph comes over and says to my friends, "Ladies, I hear you're very confused. What is the confusion?" They just kinda stared at him at first. My one friend says, oh we had questions about the time limit and the drag show. He cut her off and said extremely patronizingly, "This is a drag show. It's not J. Lo doing an entire set list with lights and choreo. It's a DRAG show! She might only come out a couple times anyway. Are you confused about anything else?" He was so rude that pretty much everyone in that moment decided we didn't want to do a boozy brunch. A total vibe killer. I don't know if he was having a bad day, but that was a memory that will stick with me for a long time. It's not the way to treat people who want to spend money at your business. We ordered the basics. A couple of coffees. Food. And 2/4 of my friends had one drink. So much for Funday Sunday. For this experience, we were blessed with gratuity already being included. Being yelled at and talked down to made for a wonderful experience. Felt like the Old Ed Debevic's, except we weren't in on the joke. At the end we were getting our cards/cash together, and Ralph came over again. He said, "Do you need any help with figuring out how to pay?" My friend said, "No, I know you want us out. Lark is definitely a vibe! My husband and I visited after the state started being a little more relaxed on restaurant capacity. When I walked past the restaurant and they had the windows open so it had a lot of ventilation which helped to make it a comfortable experience. When I got into the restaurant they had clear dividers between the tables in the inside of the restaurant. The tables were also six feet apart from each other. I came during the happy hour and the drinks weren't bad. I got a vodka with cranberry and the vodka didn't choke me like the useful bottom shelf liquor. I got the pulled pork mac-n-cheese and split the an appetizer of stuffed breadsticks with my husband. All of the food was delicious. The menu is typical bar food and American cuisine. The portion size of the food is pretty good. I got a few meals out of the pulled pork mac-n-cheese dish so the price was worth it. My favorite part about the restaurant was the music that was playing. They had the music videos playing along with the song so it was a fun time. I would definitely come back with friends, another date night, or solo because it's that kind of place. Though to be fair, the pizzas coming out of the wood fire oven looked amazing. The avocado toast and Benedict were nothing to write home about. I was very interested the duck mule selection they had, and I chose the strawberry duck mule while my sister chose the proper apple mule. Our waitress recommended plenty of popular options, which contributed to one of our decisions. We ordered a pizza, the cilantro lime chicken, and the Nashville hot Fried Chicken Dinner. We chose to reserve outside seating which ended up being the best choice in my opinion, the music was great and the atmosphere was very fun! Came to Lark for their Halloween Hocus Pocus Drag brunch and had so much fun! Anything that involves bottomless mimosas is a guarantee to a good time though. We got our bottle of champagne right away but it did take a little bit of time to get our mixer so we were already about halfway through our bottle by the time we got our juice. The staff was very friendly though. The brunch was surprisingly very good. There were a lot of great options to choose from but I ended up going with the eggs Benedict, because it's my favorite. The Hollandaise was super flavorful! I've had so many mediocre eggs Benedict before where the sauce has no flavor or the poached eggs were super watery, but this one was very tasty. The show itself was great even though we sat in the pizza oven room that was tucked away from the main room. Next time we will have to get VIP seating so we can see more of the show. read more
