I did make an appointment a few weeks ago because my schedule wasn't super flexible. My technician who did a manicure and pedicure was Dejah and she was lovely. She took time cleaning and filing each nail meticulously. I did get an express manicure and a nourishing pedicure with gel polish - both services cost around $135, but I thought it was well worth the money for the professionalism and detail that the technician offered. Since I didn't have cash for tip, I was able to leave a tip via Venmo. PS: they have drinks you can purchase. Hands down my favorite salon in Atlanta. I've tried a few other spots around town, but this is the one that stuck for me. I have naturally brittle and textured nails, so I wanted to transition into natural nail care. Techs usually use harsh drills to fully take off acrylics/SNS/gel, which tear up my already vulnerable nails and have led to lots of breakage in the past. Not anymore. My girl Ravis is amazing and has helped my nails get long and strong with her magic. I generally get a gel polish plus a gel removal, which is always gentle and without the use of drills or harsh-smelling substances. Her designs are also a hit with me, and she works with me to come up with fun styles that I could never imagine up on my own. I trusted her with my wedding nails, and she did an amazing job. She even managed to find foil colors for me that matched my rings and shoes! All the techs are great though, it just depends on what your nail needs and wants are. They truly know what they're doing and can help you transition to natural nails fully if that's what you're looking for. I recommend giving the salon a call if you're picky about what you like. The receptionists are sweethearts and can lead you in the right direction. The salon itself is low key and has a great vibe, located in a cute neighborhood with plenty of street parking. They have drinks available for guests (if they forget to offer, you can always just ask and they are happy to oblige). Always clean, cheerful, and relaxing. Came here after seeing pretty pictures and great reviews, but left feeling underwhelmed. First impression was good--it's a lovely, bright, relaxed atmosphere. But when asked to pick my color for a gel manicure, they sent me to a wall of non-gel colors, assuring me that they would have the same color in gel. Long story short, they did not. (Why not just let your customers look at the gel polishes?) People were perfectly nice, but when I pay $45 for a manicure, I expect perfection. Okay, I go because it's a wholesome atmosphere and it being organic. But, I must say, the prices don't seem worth it. I paid for a "basic Pedi" for $40 (not including tip.) Very much a half a** job, and they didn't do much cleaning in the nails nor trimming. I know I asked for a basic, but for the price, I can buy their product and do that myself or go somewhere else for $20 and get a whole lot more work done on my feet than a paint job. But, when I pointed out that they didn't clean the nail, they instead said, "well did you ask for them to clean your nail?" I didn't realize I had to ask. Then they were like, "well, if you want a clean job from a trained professional, you can pay for the upgrade for $50 (not including tip)" .. ? So the people doing the basic aren't trained? I LOVE L&S! I've been going here for about a year and a half now and I've never been disappointed. I'm from DC and I've never been able to find a shop in DC or ATL that I really love before Lark & Sparrow! I started coming in early 2017 due to a horrible experience I had at a nail salon in Brookhaven! It's quiet and always busy at the same time. Every time I come I am offered a drink (flat water, wine, or sparkling water), a neck wrap and attentive service. Amanda is my go to for my hands. I started going to her about a year ago and she never disappoints! She does book out easily 3 weeks in advance so don't sleep on her. I also love Sam, Dashauna, Jai and Kristen ! PROS: I scheduled a next day appointment for a pedicure online which was super easy and convenient. When I arrived at Lark&Sparrow, the first thing I noticed was that it doesn't smell like chemicals which I appreciate...sometimes the smell in traditional nail salons gives me a headache. They also don't have the typical nail salon seats with the attached foot tubs. Instead they bring over a bowl of water which I'm sure is more hygienic...another plus! I had to wait a little while but that wasn't a big deal, they offered wine and had jewelry and magazines to look at. Lisa, the girl who did my pedicure, was super sweet, very easy to chat with, and took her time. I wanted French tips and she let me know up front there was an extra fee for that, which is nice...no surprises. The white tips on my pedicure are perfection...thin, meticulous lines...very happy with that part! CONS: My toenails are BLUE. I look like I have terrible circulation. The base coat they use there is blue....very blue. I asked her about the blue and she said it would eventually dry clear but here I am five days later with blue toes still :( I also feel like they are pricey...spending $45 for blue toenails made me an unhappy camper. If I was going to have color on my nails I would come back, but since I almost always do French manicures/pedicures, I will likely not be a repeat customer. *****UPDATE***** The owner, Linda, contacted me super quick to re-do the polish on my blue toes. The three-star rating is because I didn't appreciate not being made aware of an environmental fee that is automatically charged to the client's bill without notice. Although it is not a large amount, as a business, any additional fees should be communicated to the customer. When I asked if this fee was on the website, I was told that it was not. My daughter just turned three and wants to be a princess. We decided to host a party at Lark & Sparrow for five of her three year old girl friends, a seven year old neighbor friend and her six year old brother. Man did they have a good time. Tracy set us up with the party and her and another technician took amazing care of our group. They were patient, accommodating and kind. They suggested additional activities to go on and provided us with a few tables for our snacks and cookie cake. The girls and boy had a blast. There were pinks, glitters, blues, oranges, alternating colors, thumbs different than the rest and even glow in the dark skulls on their tiny hands. I visited Lark & Sparrow last Saturday and had a good time with a "Mama Bird" pedicure, 10min add on leg massage, and manicure. Jai worked with me for the entire time and was very good at her work but also very good at reading whether I wanted to chat or not. She let me have a relaxing experience, which I really appreciated. Parking is on the street, there's no dedicated parking area. There is 1 bathroom inside for clients. There is some jewelry for sale at the front near the waiting area. During my visit, some very polite vendors came in offering smoothies, wraps, chips, and Jamaican patties. I got one of the strawberry smoothies, which was frozen in the center for transport, for $7-something. I like the polished Lark & Sparrow uses. I did not get gel, I just got the regular, and while I had one nail starting to chip at the tip after 2 days, most nails looked good for a full week. One cool thing to note : I wasn't sure if I wanted to get nail art or nail foil at all, and when Jai started painting on the main color I had chosen, she said it looked really nice and said, "are you sure you want the foil? this looks really good against your skin as is." This made me feel comfortable saying no to the fancy ad-on which let me save a little money and still feel great about my nails. read more

The owners Linda and Jody have not just set the bar for natural nail salons in the south, they created the unofficial relaxation haven in the neighborhood and now a second one (Petite Sparrow) in Inman Park. I have been coming here since they opened and book gel manis with removal and "elaborate nail art" every two weeks. I make it a point to book my next service at my last so I can look forward to this treat, knowing how in demand they are. Besides Linda and Jody, Sam and Skye are veterans and all do insanely beautiful work. The newcomers Desmond, Elle, Dashiona and Kristen are already blowing the doors off with their own unique and creative approach to design. They are growing fast with their second location Petite Sparrow, yet take their time hiring the right people and it speaks volumes. So no matter who I go to, I have an incredible (and hygienic!!) experience and always walk out happy and proud. On weeks where I work too hard on my hands or spend time in water or dirt, they always work to get me right in an fix any concerns I have at no charge. Their commitment to service is unparalleled, and I always get a zillion compliments too! I read some of the (rare) negative comments here and have to say, when you take time for self care - you get what you pay for. On my first visit, there was confusion about my service and scheduled appointment, which resulted in me cancelling my service. A few hours later, I received a call from the owner Jody, apologizing for the mixup. She also offered an discount off of my next visit! The only thing that stands out about my experience at Lark & Sparrow was the attitude and judgy vibe. The completely average pedicure I received was both expensive and forgettable. Nothing out of the ordinary aside from the price. As another reviewer mentioned, the people who work here have a bad attitude and make you feel like you should be thankful to be in their shop (when it should be the other way around). As someone else also mentioned, they are extremely particular about booking times and you can't change or add any service when you arrive. Even if the place is empty when you finish and there is clearly no one rushing to get services after you, don't expect to be able to, for example, add a manicure if you only booked a pedicure, or ask for gel when you didn't specifically book gel - because how dare you. I really wanted to love this place, instead the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. The problem: I was told by the nail tech "you didn't book enough time for nail art, you need to schedule more time for that service next time" he went on to vent or add " it's not even worth the headache and drama that this place will give me- to give you even simple nail art" these comments for several reasons are a bit much. For one, TMI- save that drama for someone other than customers. Secondly, the receptionist never asked nor mentioned additional time needed for nail art. That option was never given. Better communication from the start and/or an improved process is needed here with new clients. How would new clients know to book more time for nail art? How would new clients know how much time is even needed depending on the art you're interested in (lol, come onnnn) Anywho, for that experience over the weekend she "took care" of my tab and asked that I come back today. I was here with my mom over the weekend who was also not exactly over the moon with her nails. But she loved her nail tech! Sweet girl! So I originally booked a pedi and mani and refused to move forward with the pedi for obvious reasons! I wasn't happy with my nails! Not rocket science! They proceeded to tell me "we are going to charge you for your pedi anyway" "per our policy blah blah.. hmm, no you're not! I'll never pay for services that I did not get. I canceled that pedi for a very good reason. So listen, I'm sitting face to face with this woman (Linda, the owner) today. I'm not even sure why she wasted my time this afternoon! She had a look on her face that was unpleasant from the start! The problem: she looked at my nails and said "I don't see anything wrong with the application" hey that's fine we can agree to disagree. But why start off on that note? Why did you invite me here? Linda asked for her nail tech over the weekend to send pics of my nails! Following those pics she said that she would take care of the mani. So we are staring at one another because of her silly demeanor and idiotic comments. It's now clear to me that I wasted my time. So I say, hey you know what, don't worry about it. She continues with insult to injury "I mean, I don't know how you do business but you refused to pay" I said "for the pedi yes, never refused my nails lol. In fact, when I went to pay the receptionist mentioned it was taken care of" I showed up today to obviously pay! Silly rabbit. It gets worse! I told her it was never about freebies for me. I clearly still tipped my nail tech even though I was extremely unhappy with him and the service that he provided. She laughed, and said "yeah 10 dollars" he doesn't even make that an hour" basically she said my tip was a joke! She ended our convo abruptly by saying "yeah welcome to the neighborhood we are not a good fit!" And walked away. You guys!! When I tell you, I have never been so disgusted in my life! Hey Linda, not only have you lost a customer for life. You've lost my respect as a woman and business owner. You could never sit at the table with me. You are classless and ridiculous!! Avoid supporting owners that act this way. Too many other good people doing good business to support! God bless! **I figured she would not be honest. How embarrassing! A fit? I offered to pay! Perfectionist to a fault much?! My nails looked great and my heels were softer than they've EVER been! That was amazing. I was annoyed though 2 days later when my Vinylux gel polish started bubbling so that by day 8 it peeled off.. The best nail salon I've ever been to in my entire life. Seriously. I've traveled far and wide and this one takes the medal hands down. The COVID-19 procedures made me feel extremely comfortable and safe. It was beautiful, clean, the staff was super friendly. Their use of organic and natural products that are tailored for natural nail care is phenomenal. They don't even use the unsanitary jet foot spas and utilize skin friendly products for pedicures! This is my FAV nail place. Anytime a friend suggests getting s mani/pedi, I would immediately shut it down. I never knew what was so relaxing about the nail salon. They're crowded, the manicurist are in a rush, the chairs are close togeher....everything about it feels claustrophobic. And then i found this place! (cue the angels singing) The staff are so friendly and they don't overbook. You can get a mani at the table and pedi in the comfy chairs -- which i love. And most importantly, THE NAIL ART. They can basically do anything you want them to do. Anything. No really, anything. Go see for yourself. Pro tip: book an appointment well in advance because they can get all booked up quick. read more
