This is my first and last experience with this store. I ordered the Flight of Fancy tote on May 10th, with one more left in stock after I placed my order. It is now May 29th and today I received a generic email saying the item is out of stock and I was issued a refund. BUT before that, I received a text from the store manager Mari that due to a glitch in their system, my order had just gone through on May 18th. She assured me the issue was remedied and my order would ship out the next day. When my order had not shipped by the end of the week, I emailed her directly. She replied this past Monday, saying the person responsible for shipping orders abruptly left. She again assured me my order would ship the next day. It did not, and I contacted her via text, asking her to cancel my order. Without a response directly from her, I got an automated email today that said my order was refunded because the item is now out of stock. I waited almost three weeks for my order to ship and then it got canceled, not because I requested it, but because the tote bag was out of stock. They didn't set aside one to ship to me when it was available once my order actually populated a week later. The locals seem to love this store but I'm not a local and if I were in charge, this is not the experience I'd want a customer to have or the impression I'd want to make. read more

We specifically came here to patronize this amazing business that allows so many other businesses a space to showcase their talents. It's easy to get lost in here because there is so much amazing stuff to choose from. Jewelry, clothing, food, crafts, soaps, and much more. I found things that I didn't even know I needed in here and I can't wait to go back. I saw some cologne and intention candles that I want. The price of their items range from $4 - $100 for certain things, but from what I saw the value outweighed the price repeatedly. The best part, again, is supporting so many other businesses in one place. Kudos to the owners for having such an awesome vision. There's lots of parking here because they are located off Caroline in that shopping area. Parking is free too. The shop is super organized and Mari greets everyone who comes in. I'm always on the lookout out for small business gift shops with handmade jewelry and goods, and Beehive didn't disappoint! The manager Mari was so sweet and greeted us with an introduction of how the shop included displays curated by the featured creators. There were so many beautiful gifts from jewelry to art to housewares. There were some very cute dresses I would have loved to buy, though sadly they only went up to XL. Complimentary gift wrapping was offered too. We all walked out with something! Beehive was so cute and welcoming. If I were a local, I'd definitely be checking out the art classes offered. read more

Easily accessible by the front or back entrance in the Edgewood Shopping Center. I arrived with a gift card hoping to purchase gifts. I was greeted with pleasantries and cheerfulness from the sister of shop's owner. Because it was apparent I was new to the store, she graciously gave me a rundown. I browsed casually. There's mostly a large selection of locally crafted jewelry -very nice collection but also there's clothing, candles, cards, treats, and other interesting odds. The store inventory is based on vendors so I'm sure it's it switches up. After settling on some gift, I checked out, and was happy to find free gift wrapping with purchase. Definitely charming! I also enjoyed the flow and friendless of different vendors coming in to restock their inventory. So I happy I was introduced to this store via gift card - will definitely return. read more

You'll find products from several makers ranging from clothes, jewelery, stationary, food, candles, to bath products; there is something for everyone. I don't like the vibe here. The manager always seems very business oriented. I went out of my way to purchase some gifts there (over $75) and while they clearly do gift-wrapping and we talked about my items being a gift multiple times, she insisted I could wrap them myself at home? Like, when they have all these gift boxes and ribbons right behind the register. She also ripped off the price tags stickers in a very sloppy manner which peeled off the labels making it look all jagged. Now, I'm supposed to give these items as a nice gift? I stumbled into The Beehive one Monday with my mother. The title reminded me of a honey store so I've walked past this location plenty of times. But to my surprise this was a local, boutique artist showcase. The Beehive has locally crafted skin care, local baby clothes and accessories, locally made accessories, locally crafted clothes, and local foods. Such a cute a unique store. The day we stopped in was especially surprising to me because they were having a sale. And sales are my thing! I wanted to purchase everything from the store. However, what steered me away was one of the employees. She seemed to be an older store manager or supervisor. But her approach was disapproving, unapproachable, and unfriendly. Generally, this is enough to make me leave, but I didn't let her distaste deter me from searching through the goods. Nonetheless, I did my best to avoid her in the store and I hope on any future occasion I can do the same. Overall this boutique is a B-. This local artist collective boutique was exciting, unique, filled with treasures, with plenty decent prices. Pitfalls the customer service from one of the employees was enough to make me reconsider my first visit. I LOVE this place! This is my go-to spot for gifts and accessories. Beautiful and unique jewelry, accessories, artwork, clothing, kitchen wares, spices, sauces, candles, etc. from local makers. The manager is very friendly and helpful. I asked her whether she carried any nickel-free jewelry given that I am extremely allergic and have almost entirely given up on finding legit nickel-free stuff. She pointed out about 8 different vendors of jewelry. I was skeptical and even asked about the return policy, given that I have bought "nickel-free" stuff many times only to find my ears swollen after a few hours of wearing. Lo and behold, I have two new sets of earrings that I can rock all day long, everyday! After I left, I opened up my bag to put on a necklace and found that it was missing. I went back and asked the manager and her assistant whether it might not have made it into my bad. They were very concerned and kind and spent several minutes looking for it. I went back outside and retraced my steps and found that it dropped out of my bag without realizing it. I was obviously embarrassed at wasting their time looking for something I lost, but they were incredibly gracious. I'm not sure who wrote that "the customer service is BAD" in a previous review and gave 1 star... I simply just can't imagine someone having that experience here where there are wonderful high-quality products and consistently good staff. A bright cheery splash of green (but not too 'lime' of a green. and not too 'forest,' either. I mean, seriously. These people are designers. It's a lovely "I would enjoy a room in my house painted that shade of green" green.) in a strip of businesses on Peachtree is the entrance to Beehive. Beehive is a collection of various artists (think home goods, baby clothes, jewelry) all housed in this 'co-op' space. Many of the designers are the same ones you'll often see at local festivals, hawking their wares under tents and battling crowds of potentially intoxicated festivalgoers. The atmosphere is much more calm of a shopping experience. Some specific designers that come to mind are Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves, which are pretty much cotton American Apparel-ish goods hand screenprinted with hipsteresque designs. I've scored a pretty cool tunic for a birthday gift from this line before. Also, Relic's cute vintage headbands can be found here, too. You'll also be able to see work from Bee Good Studio, which cranks out Domino Magazine style custom silhouettes of whatever your little heart desires, for a truly personal gift. . . way less cheesy than a wooden name cut out or engraved frame. There are about 30 designers to choose from in a pretty large range of price points. Notsomuch a place where you can expect to walk out of here with a quick, inexpensive welcome gift for your new neighbor, but the kind of place to peruse, and finally decide on something supercool for yourself or to buy for your best friend. You'll also be able to release your inner Martha Stewart here with a little help from the Beehive team. This is my most favorite store in all of Atlanta. Today I scored a baby gift and a birthday gift plus cards for a party tomorrow. Maybe it's the power of last minute shopping or maybe it's just the great selection of stuff! You can purchase an entire outfit and accessories (I stopped myself at two pairs of earrings) plus body products and even craft supplies and delicious candied pecans. The shop has lots of fun and unique items. The woman working there was also very kind and helpful, she hand-wrapped each gift item for customers in cute little boxes. Excellent store for all those people into Etsy and hand made crafts! It doubles as both a handmade crafts/bath store (natural soaps, beautiful jewelry, etc) and supplies store (felt, fabrics, items for making necklaces, etc) and manages to fit it all in one small space! The store also consists of several sections divided up by local artist. I went during their 50-90% sale, when much of the goodies had relatively low price tags, but when things aren't on sale they can be pretty pricey. The clothes selection is a bit limited, but there's only so much they can fit into one store! Very exciting being able to stop by during the sale event, but I probably wouldn't be a regular since handmade goods do come at a cost! read more

Before I stepped into The Beehive, I was already expecting to love it. A space that sells local goods and hosts craft classes? I'm sold! Thankfully, the place lives up to its hype, or at least the hype I'd built up in my mind. A friend and I went for a class recently. She'd been to several before and was very positive which I took as a good sign. It was easy to register online in advance, and you just sign in when you arrive. There are two entrances to the shop; the back one from the parking lot seems to be the way to go if your class is going on outside of business hours. The owner of The Beehive was actually the teacher. She was very outgoing, enthusiastic, patient, and helpful. After a quick tutorial, we were allowed to go to town. I went home with some terrific pieces which I was happy about. The only suggestion I have would be to enroll a slightly smaller number of students since it was a little cramped around the narrow table, and I was terrified of messing up someone else's stuff. Luckily, I didn't, whew. One of the best aspects of taking a class at The Beehive is that you get 20% off your purchase in the boutique. The Beehive is heavy on the jewelry, but you can find clothing, baby stuff, edibles, decor, and bath treats as well. I left with some presents for a friend, and the employee wrapped them all up in a box tied with a ribbon in the color of my choosing. For free too! Yay. I shall return to Atlanta's bricks-and-mortar version of Etsy! read more

Summary: the customer service Is just BAD! The attempt to teach people is great, however they should reduce the class size and get a new instructor. Long Story: This place is honestly a cute concept. Upon arrival, its love at first sight for any local business supporter. This studio is a place to support up and coming "crafters" as they start off because most things, if not all are hand made. We signed up for a few classes, jewelry making, clay jewelry making, and sewing a skirt. Each class was 2 hours. The first class was layered jewelry making. It contained approximately 14 to 16 people with one teacher. So you already knew the issue....The staff/student ratio. The class presented a few "challenges" in my opinion 1. staff/ teacher ratio- most people in the class have never made jewelry. 2. There were approximately 5 mirrors on the table. I won't call this class hard but it was a little challenging opening and closing the rings that attach the jewelry pieces. With there being one teacher and 16 of us, the issue was getting the teachers attention! Most people needed help closing the rings. She stood on one side of the table more then other and the table was very long. With this type of class, since you're actually using tools and making things, verbal instruction wasn't enough. The rings had to be closed completely, which required people to be able to use their left and right hand at the same time. If you didn't close the clasp, we later learned, your jewelry would fall apart. Which is what was happening with me and a young lady next to me, along with my friend who came with me. Throughout this project i can not lie, i wanted to quit. The teacher even gave a story of women who quit the class because it was overwhelming. The teachers response was "jewelry making isn't for everyone". Most people who sign up for classes do it because they are interested and are open to the challenge. But not having support from the teacher could result in making you want to quit. The other issue was how the materials were laid out. There were small dishes that were going up the table. Each participant had to get up and reach over others who were sitting to get a chance to look at all the charms and fixtures. While making the necklace you had to determine the lengths you wanted the chain to hang. This required a mirror. There were 4 maybe 5 mirrors on the table for everyone to share. Which is not enough for someone making a 3 layer necklace. About an hour and a half into the class there were a few people who were concerned with whether or not they would be able to finish the necklace. The teacher told us that everyone would leave with something. At this point the teacher decides to be more hands on. I'm going to safely assume she was getting annoyed with us towards the end. She was talking in that really unnatural high pitch "I'm being nice" voice with a forced stiff smile. But Whenever her sister/ business partner came into the area her voice would change into her natural voice. With 10-15 minutes remaining, the teacher was able to make time and assisted with my necklace. Throughout this class you were constantly asking the person next to you if they understood or if they heard what the teacher said. Which isn't fair because you paid for instruction. I left with jewelry i could never wear. I come back for a sewing class. In the class description we were told to bring fabric and everything else would be provided. there was no specifics on the type of fabric that would be best. The teacher (same as jewelry) began to complain about everyone's fabric. We visited the website and confirmed, a specific type of fabric was never specified. Our instructer( lets just call her carol) had us spread out to cut our fabric. Now this is where things got funky. We spread out around the store. But the problem arises for people who wanted a long skirt, which was more than half of us. Carol says we can't make long skirts. So why have us measure ourselves if the short skirt was the only option. If we wanted a long skirt we'd have to do something different. Now remember we are all around the building when this discovery was made. The steps for the longer skirt was not explained while we were all together. So Everyone is calling Carol. At no time did she just ask us all to come together so she could explain. To make matters worse, Carol has began to mentally check out of instructing us. Her "man" has began calling because he needs grocery store assistance. She's eating chips while talking to her sister, all while we try to assist one another in making this skirt, we paid to learn to make from Carol. And the chips were Fritos! Fritos are the most stink chips EVERRRR. I get being hungry, but the way this chip eating went down was just unprofessional and stinky. Needless to say my friend and i didn't leave with a skirt. Nor did we come back for the other classes we signed up! Overall this place is a good concept that wasn't executed well. read more

It's sometimes a difficult task, but co-ops like these enable you to see [and hopefully purchase!] the wares of different artists and craftspeople. Beehive boasts a variety of locally produced goods and wares, mostly for the women and the spawn in your life. There isn't a lot for men, but you can find a little something here and there, if you look. I like the layout and its winding path around cute onesies and whimsical stuffed animals, through edgy tees and dresses, and by minimal, sleek jewelry and homemade bath salts. The location is a bit of a drawback. It's very easy to miss and parking can sometimes be cumbersome. It's a great and welcome addition to Atlanta's shopping scene. read more

The Beehive has become my newest obsession. It's dangerously close to my house, meaning a quick pop in has become part of my regular routine. There's always something to new to look at, whether it's a completely new designer or just something I missed on my last visit. The shop owner, Malene, is an absolute joy to work with and is INCREDIBLY talented: I just found out she makes the awesome giant wood bead necklaces I've always coveted. Everyone who works there is incredibly friendly and super committed to the mission, which is such a nice change from the lack of service you get via most chain shops. If you're looking for gifts, it's a one stop shop as they've got a little bit of everything: baby clothes and gifts, locally made jams and jellies, Sugar Coated Radical treats, jewelry that ranges from simple to over the top, and so much more. read more

I wanted my 200th review to be something special so I opted to leave Beehive Co-op alone until I got to this mile marker. Four stars, why you might ask? Why? I can't afford some of the things they have! And it kills me! The other reason? It's in a part of town that is a pain-in-the-ass for me to get to. Otherwise, they have the cutest jewelry, purses, clothes, baby goods, stationary, books, etc. known to man. The only place that I think can beat this is my new Knoxville hot spot, Bliss. Maximally obsessed. The Beehive is the type of store that makes me feel like shopping is an acceptable hobby. Everything in the store is so unique and I can quickly find plenty of things that I'm convinced either I must have or I know someone who would die if they didn't own it. Sometimes I feel like these "unique" stores have really weird arts and craft projects that only a mother could love but the Beehive is totally the opposite with well crafted and legitimately cute things. The store is little "booth" like areas each with its own flavor. Lots of jewelry, other accessories, stationary, pottery, kids toys and clothes, knick-knacks, and a few clothing items are to be found here. I purchased an infinity scarf with an ikat design, a beautiful gold bracelet, a magnet featuring a man from the 1800s saying "holla at a playa", and a unique card. I could have kept going but I had to cut myself off. I was very tempted by the coasters featuring scenes of some ATL classic locations, the knit koozies, and the mustache-centric stationary. Usually I don't drive across town to go to one store, but honestly the Beehive is worth it. The staff is so nice and parking is a breeze in the giant lot next door. The Beehive is one of the reasons I enjoy this city. A collection of wonderfully talented small businesses under one roof selling unique items year-round. Everything from jewelry to prints to jams to dog biscuits. If you are looking for a gift, check it out. In fact, this is where I went when I was trying to put together a goodie bag of items that represented Atlanta when visiting friends in Amsterdam. I walked away with a box full of handmade/crafted items ranging from soap to jam and it was nice to say it was all made locally. Their bi-annual Warehouse Sale (going on this week!) is my favorite time to visit. Most of the items are on sale and you can peruse for hours looking at all the great finds. They also hold crafting classes (jewelry, knitting/crocheting, body stuff, etc). The place is usually estrogen central but you may see a guy every now and then. He's usually been brought there. There are a handful of crafted items for men. What I saw last time - bear/mustache grooming items, t-shirts and a company that made specialty cufflinks. The only thing that sucks about going to The Beehive, to no fault of their own, is the horribly designed clusterf*ck that is the Edgewood Shopping District. Real life mouse trap. read more

I love the concept here and I love their lovely jewelry. Not all the jewelry is incredibly affordable, but they do have a lot of very unique, creative and pretty stuff. They have several jewelry sections throughout the store, and then a little room in the back that only has jewelry. I love jewelry and this store is fun for me. I enjoy looking at everything in the store and I appreciate the design and work put into everything. It's a lovely little shop and it's fun to shop here. The Beehive is located in the Edgewood Retail District on the same side as GameStop. It's a lovely shop that sells goods (food, jewelry, clothing, home goods, etc) all created by local artists. I love that this shop embraces the 'shop local' movement, and that it supports local artists. PLUS, you can always find great, one-of-a-kind gifts for just about anyone on your gift list here. While perusing the store and chatting with the owners, I also discovered they do crafts classes for just about any craft you can think of. AWESOME.
