I wish I would have found this place sooner! The place is tucked in the Cafe of Life at the Beacon. I called them a day prior to make an appointment for an emergency appointment and they were able to take me in for a gel manicure ($39). The place is super cozy and was offered water or hot tea as soon as I got there. The owner, Sonia, was the nicest person! I was looking around on what color to get my nails painted and she knew exactly what I wanted when I told her my "vision". My nail tech (whose name I totally forgot) was awesome as well! The reviews for this place were excellent. I decided to give it a try because it was in my neighborhood. I won't be going back. To say the service is unfriendly would be an understatement. The owner seemed angry that I actually had the audacity to show up for my appointment. I walked in (on time). We were the only two people in the salon. As a new customer I expected a warm welcome. Not only did I not get a warm welcome, I didn't get ANY welcome. In lieu of a welcome, I was told to go wash my hands in the bathroom. During my manicure, I was scolded for the condition of my nails (which were indeed bad) and lectured (told everything in life needs to be done with intention). She also pushed my cuticles back significantly with no warning. It was painful. She told me afterwards that although it hurt, it was necessary to keep my nails healthy. I don't understand why she didn't provide a warning beforehand if she knew it would hurt. She did get friendlier toward the end but by then, she had already lost me as a future customer. To add insult to injury, my gel nails are chipping less than one week after my service. The two stars are for convenience and the aesthetics of the salon. read more

I have had quite the experience with nail salons here in the Atlanta area and now I know why... The nail Gods needed me to find my way to Covered Nail Bar. Sonia is a nail gangsta/ super cuticle killer thug! Ambiance: The space was small, intimate, clean and inviting. There was a small waiting area with 2 chairs, 2 pedicure thrones, and one nail table. There was a very large selection of polishes to choose from. There were nice soothing tunes playing and the place smelled amazing. Experience: I showed up to my appointment a little early and although I had not also booked a pedicure, Sonia was able to squeeze it in to her schedule even though it was getting late. She offered me wine (and it was the good stuff), she worked very efficiently, and was very sanitary. I am a licensed nail tech (although I do not practice anymore) so cleanliness is something I always pay extra attention to. When she did get up from the chair to do something, she sanitized her hands before returning to work on me which is just one example of her cleanliness. Her polish job has to be the best in the city. Hands down. No exaggeration. No sloppy paint jobs here! And once finished, she even cleaned up around the cuticle to make sure that the polish would not lift due to any debris and/or uneven polish. I don't think my cuticles have ever looked so good! Parking: She is in a building shared with other small businesses however I was able to park right out front of the door very easily. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Sonia for a one on one nail experience! Scheduling was super easy online as well! read more
