This is just a response to the owners' reply. My original review remains. I never expect anything for free. I also always tip regardless of the quality of work which is why I tipped you. This review is merely an unbiased review of the quality of work I received. I never expect work for free but you literally did a bait and switch. You never told me nail art was an additional fee. I told you over the phone I wanted to do a design and that I always do hard gel. When I showed you the design in person you didn't say there was any additional associated fee. This implies it's the same fee we already discussed. How is a hard gel fill $80 more than the fee for a new full hard gel mani with design that you quoted me over the phone? Any reasonable person would assume it's less or the same! You didn't spend any time shaping my nails and didn't even copy the design I showed you. Additionally, you DID NOT offer to fix anything. When I asked you through out the process, you said it was "too late". I would suggest instead of making yourself look worse, that you take this constructive feedback and grow. read more

Asked for a simple black matte manicure came out with a sloppy job. My 6 year old cousin could've done a better job. The nail tech had a book of stickers on the desk, so I asked to add one of her banana stickers. She didn't cut or shape my nails. She rushed through the coats with no drying in between sticker placement. The sticker is squished. She applied the clear black matte coat while the black coat wasn't even dry yet. Some of my nails are shiny, others matte. I was under the incorrect assumption you were known for your nail designs. If you can't nail a matte black nail job, you sure your Yelp photos are yours? If you're thinking about getting HARD GEL, do NOT go here. I have been an avid dip advocate and grew out my nails naturally with a hard time finding good techs. I decided to try hard gel and went here after reading lots about the trend and it being healthy. The first time was free in exchange for trying the service, becoming a "fun new customer" as she wants on her Instagram, and checking in on her Yelp. Well my nail cracked bad within a week and it hurt. I couldn't come and get it fixed because I'm constantly working. In two weeks I had to come in and pay $70 (normal gel/dip/manicure price) for what she considered a "color change" and "one" nail fix. Also a shaping. Two days later, three of my nails have similarly broken and cracked in the middle and I can't do anything with my hands so I now have to find a new tech, cut down all my natural nails super short, and give up what I've been growing. I have never had this problem before with any tech or technique and when texting her about this asking for help, she blamed my nails for being weak. In any industry is never right to blame the client or customer. Again I went back to research and the article I have linked says proper technician form leads to Nail breakage such as this. Nothing should happen this quickly after a manicure and when she did my nails, it took nowhere near two hours -- she rushed and as you can see in the pictures it is sloppy. Two friends gave me a gift certificate so I could get a little pampering from Zalak while staying in Los Angeles. I'm not exactly sure how they found her; I suspect it was because her business is close to the hospital where my husband was being treated, and because she is highly recommended. Zalak's shop is spacious and comfortable. She has a wide selection of nail polish colors and nail art findings. With music playing in the background, my daughter and I had pedicures done and we were pampered indeed! Our toes and feet never looked or felt better! Really disappointed with my nails. Lumpy with bubbles in gel, art was not even close to what I requested. I would prefer a refund because I need to get my nails redone as soon as possible. However, I'm not optimistic about the loss of being refunded I did receive a partial refund. However it was only after she argued with me to update the review. So I am updating it, but I'm not improving it. Beware! For $175 your nails should look like a living work of art. Techs can't just charge prices because actual nail artists charge more. This is a nail tech. A nail artist like Red Iguana, who is a recognized industry expert, never charged that much. Not even close to that amount did I ever pay and that included full nail art like you see in her videos!
