I recently had to say goodbye to my cat, Muffin, and I am so, so grateful to Lap of Love for their existence and in particular to Dr. Ruthie Parsley, for making one of the worst days of my life more manageable. I filled out the form on Friday night and booked an appointment for Sunday evening. They sent a follow-up email stating that they would call to confirm the appointment, and that if they weren't able to reach me to confirm details, they would need to cancel/reschedule the appointment. I replied back that I had to work on Saturday morning, and if it'd be possible to call not during those hours (so I could try to remain a non-functional mess at work), I'd really appreciate it. They actually called me that same night at 11pm and were so patient with me through my mess of tears. On the day of, Dr. Parsley called about an hour prior to give me an ETA and appeared right on time. She offered comfort, explained the process on what to expect, allowed time for questions, and gave us the time we needed to say goodbye. She took a clay impression of Muffin's mixed toebeans + a clipping of her fluffs for me to keep, and also gave us some more time while she went out to get Muffin's basket ready + I was able to carry her to her car to "see her off." It was the most peaceful transition I could have asked for, and I was able to hold Muffin in my arms throughout the process. The email she sent me the day afterward offered support + also showed she really listened/cared, and I received a card in the mail from her as well. I'd chosen to have Muffin cremated so per my request, Lap of Love sent her back to my vet so I could pick her up from there. My world is feeling a lot emptier, but this is the best I could've hoped for given the circumstances. Thank you for being there and for everything you do. read more

This is not a review of the vets but a review of the service. This goes to a call center of people trained to be compassionate. At first they were really nice. I wanted a specific woman vet. I told them my dog had been abused and I did not want a male vet. I made an appointment with the vet I wanted. I spoke to the pet cemetery and they told me they showed an order for the date and told me the name of the vet, which was a man!?! They changed my appointment without telling me. I asked about other vets and asked if I could speak to the vet. They told me no, I asked if they could speak to the vet, they said no. They made this sad time even worse. read more

Dr Dominique provided compassionate service and caring support in the passing of sweet cat Alec. Besides avoiding the dreaded car and vet office, having Lap of Love come to my home enabled Alec's best feline buddy Tycho to be present and give his final grooming to his friend. I highly recommend the supportive and expert vets at Lap of Love, who understand completely the difficulty of making the decision for compassionate euthanasia when the time is right. read more

We'll always be grateful for the care and wisdom Dr. Baroe shared for our family dog.

It has been two weeks since we sent our 14.5 year old fur baby over the rainbow bridge. His name was Pedro and he was the sweetest dog. Our experience with Lap of Love was exceptional. From my first call where the kindest soul named Alli listened to me cry and tell her where we were at in Pedro's life. She sent me numerous helpful resources and videos to watch. These were particularly helpful in that we felt confident we were at the right time to consider this. Our Vet Angel was Dr. April and this amazing individual cried with us, listened to our stories of Pedro and his life. She was so kind and her presence was a calming force for our little guy. She took her time, explained everything and patiently waited for us to give her the go ahead to proceed. Our little guy was so brave and the process was peaceful. We never want to lose our babies but I feel fortunate that we were able to send Pedro off in the best way we could. read more

A really tough saying goodbye to friend was made better by how caring and calm Dr. Dominique was.

There are no words that can fully express our gratitude for the kindness and compassion Dr. Amanda showed us as we said goodbye to our beloved Sonny. For fourteen and a half years, he was our faithful companion, our hiking partner, our source of laughter, and a cherished member of our family. Making the decision to let him go was the hardest act of love we have ever faced, but Dr. Amanda's gentleness gave us the strength to do what was best for him. She treated Sonny with such dignity and tenderness, and she treated us with the same compassion. In the midst of our heartbreak, her calm voice, caring hands, and genuine empathy brought us comfort we will never forget. Although our home feels unbearably empty, we find peace in knowing that Sonny's final moments were filled with love, surrounded by the people who adored him and cared for him so deeply. Thank you for the work you do every day. It takes extraordinary hearts to help families through such profound loss, and we will always be grateful that you were there for ours. read more

Incredibly compassionate service for a very horrible day. Dr. Ruthie Parsley was able to come to my house (on the weekend!) and help my cat pass with honor and surrounded by everyone who loved him. She spent time explaining the process and helping us celebrate his life. I can not recommend Lap of Love and Dr. Ruthie Parsley enough. She helped make a difficult day as smooth as it could be. Thank you. read more

For one of the worst days you can imagine, Lap of Love made it as pleasant as possible. It was so peaceful to be in our living room holding our furbaby while he crossed the rainbow bridge. Dr. Don was really kind and caring with our dachshund and with us. Also, the person answering the phones is absolutely wonderful. I was a mess that could barely talk through sobs making the phone call to arrange their services. The person on the phone was so patient with me and helped me get through it. I highly recommend this wonderful group of veterinarians and staff to help your furbaby cross the rainbow bridge. read more

Caring and compassionate and helped get me through the worst of times. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I can't say enough about Lap of Love and Dr. Dominique. We had such a positive experience during a very stressful time with our reactive, large-breed dog. Dr. Dominique showed such kindness and patience with our boy and us. I feel we made the right choice in euthanasia assistance. I came away feeling at peace. read more

I'm so grateful to Lap of Love. The veterinarian who came out patiently reviewed my cat's medical history and painted a picture of where things are headed. She also explained that my cat's teeth grinding was a sign of pain. She was super patient with me as I cried and as I grappled with the difficult decision as to when it was time to say "goodbye" to my beloved cat. After the euthanasia, she took my cat's body away in a beautiful basket, which was so very loving and kind. read more

This long over due review is for Dr. Erica. On behalf of my family and I, we want to thank you so much for your sweet, caring, and compassionate bed side manner on a very difficult day for us. Unfortuantely, our sweet Lila's illness was taking over her precious body and we had to make the challenging decision to help her pass. We wanted to make it as peaceful as possible for her, so we wanted to have this done in our home. After calling around numerous "in home" vetrinarians, and either there being no availability, or got an answering service, we finally (and thankfully) came across lap of love. The woman who answered the phone was very sweet and caring, and within no time, she was able to schedule the appointment for us the next day. Dr.Erica showed up on time and as soon as she arrived, we could sense her kindness as she walked in our home. She was so patient with us and most importantly, was patient and gentle with Lila. We have a larger family and one thing that really stood out to all of us is her thoughtfullness of the memory gifts. She took her time to get paw prints, and fur clippings for each of our households. This meant a lot to us, as we are all able to have Lilas memory in each of our homes. Dr. Erica, thank you again for being there for us on such a sad day. You really made an impact on our family, and although it's sad to think about, we do have other pets in our family and if/when that day comes when its their time to peacefully pass, you will be the first one we call. Thank you again for being there for Lila and our family read more

Dr. Delia made an awful day less awful. The process was sad but could not have been more peaceful. Carlos drifted away as we cuddled him and just after slurping a puppucino: his *best thing, hands down. I was worried about having a stranger come to the house but Dr. Delia had just the right amount of calm and confidence to put everyone at ease. Nothing felt rushed or unexplained. I am not sentimental-nobody would hear me talking about "gaining wings" or "crossing the rainbow bridge." But Dr. Delia made a comment about how relieving one's pet from a painful and worn out body is an act of love. She was right. In the end, it felt like a mercy. My utmost gratitude to Dr. Delia. The service is pricey but worth the cost if you can swing it. read more

We recently had to make the tough decision to help our Moka (GSD/Belgian Malinois), cross over the rainbow bridge Their services were recommended by a good friend of mine and I'm glad she did. From the moment we made the painful decision to the moment we saw her take her last breath, Lap of Love was there every step of the way. Dr. Dominique day of was very patient with us and ensure our 5 year old felt supported. We chose to have the procedure at home where Moka would be most comfortable and she would be surrounded by all the ones who loved her. Our son was not present for the procedure, but did get a chance to say his farewell. He had a cat brother cross the rainbow bridge 2 years ago so Moka is now in the moon shining down on us. He looks for the moon every night to say good bye. We got Moka home a day ago and nothing can make that empty feeling go away. Moka was my husband's service dog of 9 years. She traveled, experienced many things most dogs don't get to do. Her proudest moment, was to have a human brother. She welcomed him at the hospital hours after being born. Lap of Love, you've made this transition as easy as it can be. You showed care and love even when speaking with everyone over the phone. Thank you for your kindness and support during one of the most heartbreaking moments of our lives. read more

I'm not sure if I'm reviewing the Lap of Love that helped me, but I'll just review the one with fewest reviews to help. Our cat had a 2-3 week meteoric decline and although we spent 7000$ at one ER Vet and the UC Davis pet hospital, we got to take him home for a weekend of short improvement followed by him getting much worse and us never knowing what was wrong with him other than this was the end. Called Laps of Love East Bay (that was the first google result) and cried on the phone with the lady who helped me make the appointment for the following morning with Dr. Matt. We asked Dr. Matt if he had seen anything like what our cat was going through and he did a short evaluation and looked over our report from UC Davis. He, like us, was surprised everything was almost normal in all the diagnostics, but the appearances and aggressiveness of the poor cat's state screamed cancer. He was caring and patient and talked us through the 2 injection process, and before giving cat the second injection (which goes in the kidney) he said one of the kidneys was much larger than the other, which was by far the most useful clinical sign we had gotten out of the whole last week of our cat's life. Maybe it was lymphoma in the kidney or somewhere else but we don't know. What we do know is that at least kitty is not in pain anymore. We paid for the private cremation of our little friend and while we're unsure of what to do with the ashes at least he's back home with us with a display case with his collar, Pawprint and some pictures. We are still randomly crying about it 3 weeks later, but are grateful at least we didn't have to stress out a dying cat by dragging him to the vet again, after we had him poked and prodded with 7000$ worth of needles hoping that this was not the end. Doctor also left us a booklet of resources like counseling if this turns out to be harder than we thought. read more

A lovely service provided to take care of our dear loving, goofy, hairy friend of 14-years. In-home service was far better than dragging the sick in-firm pet to the vet. My 13 year old doggy " Miss Buster Posey " came to the end of her pain free, fun loving and active life, when she was diagnosed by the vet as having a terminal illness. On hearing this news and not wanting her to experience another moment of pain and listlessness, I decided to call this company. I'd used their services before when I lived in LA and my then doggy reached the same conclusion. The doctor they sent out was so loving, patient, and professional as I could have asked for in my moment of anguish. For The first appointment I had with them, I had to cancel, as I wasn't ready emotionally to go through with it. The staff member who answers the phone could not have been more understanding and set a new date for me. When the doctor arrived, she displayed great patience and compassion as she described the euthanasia procedure. She waited patiently while I queued up the bagpipe music, the Bill Withers " a lovely day and finally Louis Armstrongs " oh what a wonderful world songs. Knowing what to expect now, I started the music and the doctor began the procedure. I was balling with tears but again the doctor comforted me and I knew that my doggy made her peaceful transition across the Rainbow Bridge. I have put this review on the back-burner as we've moved through the grief from the loss of our Hunter Bean in November but expressing my gratitude to Lap of Love and to Dr. Dianicia, personally, is long overdue. As Lap of Love clearly understands, this was such a hard time to navigate for us, but Dr. Dianicia's compassion, calm presence and professionalism allowed us to be present and peaceful as we said our goodbyes. What a gift she gave to all of us that day. My husband mentioned afterwards, "it doesn't get much more peaceful than that" and he was right. The preparation emails from Lap of Love (of which I shared some of the info with my sister for her nephews), the thoughtful paw print (which we have hanging in our kitchen) and follow-up resources were all more than I could've expected. They also fit us in under the time estimates we were receiving from other in-home veterinary hospice care companies. But really, it was Dr. Dianicia that made this transition special for us. We ultimately made a donation to Angel Fund in hopes of paying it forward and spreading the word about the lovely services Lap of Love provides. read more

I recently recommended Lap of Love and I was prompted to look at Yelp Reviews. I neglected to write one after we had to release our 14 year old standard poodle in 2021. I prefer the term "release" because it is setting them free from their pain. Dr. Dianicis could not have been lovelier to us, as well as the people who took my call and made arrangements. I suppose she was used to having someone choking back the tears. Dr. Dianicis made a clay impression of Breena's paw and asked if we wanted a clipping of her hair...which we did. Her ashes came back in a lovely box with her name inscribed on a plate. It also came with a certificate and her paw print. Our other standard poodle will turn 14 in August and while she is still extremely healthy...we know her time will be up within a couple of years. We will not hesitate to call Lap of Love again. read more

Euthanasia is the most difficult decision a pet parent can make for their fur baby, and yet it is the last gift of love I could give when the time came for me to release my best fur friend from his earthly struggles and help him peacefully cross over the Rainbow Bridge. Dr. Carolyn Baiz-Chen helped to make that unbearable decision easier to bear through her compassion, her thoughtful explanation of the process and her understanding of the emotional trauma of ending the life of a beloved fur baby. when she arrive, Dr. Baiz-Chen greeted my16 1/2 year old labradoodle with tenderness, patience, understanding and kindness as she became part of Raleigh's end of life journey. Thank you, Dr. Baiz Chen for assisting him to gently cross over that Rainbow Bridge peacefully and without pain, stress, or fear. It was a beautiful, sunny day as he relaxed on his blanket in his own bed surrounded by people he loved and who he knew loved him. It truly was a gift of love to release him in such a calm, peaceful way. Dr. Baiz-Chen was patient, understanding and respectful of all our needs and provided all the time we needed to say goodbye. When we were ready, she lovingly transferred him to a soft dog bed, rested his head on a pillow and tucked him in with a blanket for his journey. She also prepared a lovely clay pawprint as a keepsake. Her compassion and caring provided comfort during a profoundly difficult time and made a dreaded day peaceful and beautiful.
