My Sweet dog had a wonderful life of love. When she was 16 years old actually, 2 weeks before she would turn 17, when I realized it was time to let her pass in peace. I called Peaceful Pathways and they called me back later that day and set up a time to come to my home. The Vet was kind and patient. My sweet baby got to pass away in my home in a peaceful quiet home she'd lived in her whole life. She was calm. Jenn has the perfect temperament and personality for this line of business. We sadly had to have our sweet 14 year old Shih-tzu put down after a battle with kidney failure. I was at peace with our decision because she had lost so much weight and had really stopped eating and drinking and knew her time had come. But when the day actually came I was really a mess. We booked only the day before, so Peaceful Pathways having available the following day was really great because I don't think we could have gone any longer. Dr Jenn was punctual, her admin Amy was also so kind and easy to work with. When Dr. Jenn arrived, she was SO kind and respectful of our space. You could tell she had done this many times and really knew her audience. She was so gentle with our sweet Stella and even after Stella had passed was so loving with her and every detail was very thoughtful. She wrapped her in a blanket and even her trunk was a sweet comfortable space for my baby to be taken to the crematorium in. While my friend recommended Peaceful Pathways, I did not utilize the service as the intake person on the phone was awful and uncaring, telling me my dog would likely die before the appointment so there would be a nonrefundable deposit requirement. I wanted to make the difficult appointment 3 days away, at the end of the week. The lady on the phone told me that my beloved dog would likely pass before the appointment because he was open-mouth breathing. Really?!?! Geez! I've been in contact with my vet and that is definitely not the case. This person on the phone wanted a nonrefundable deposit for the appointment even though the cancellation policy on their site states "...if a doctor arrives or a cancellation request is less than 2 hours before the scheduled time we kindly reserve the right to charge the full cost of the visit ($450). If the cancellation is due to the natural death of your pet this fee will not be applied." So awful to treat someone this way. She knew I was devastated and crying before these two issues came up. I now have to call around and go through more pain describing what I need and finding someone available. read more

I recently had to make the difficult decision to have my elderly cat put to rest. He had been declining for some time but suddenly stopped eating and drinking, and in general it became obvious that he was fading out. It was just before a holiday weekend, and I was both grieving, and quite frankly, panicked at the thought of watching him suffer and decline further while being forced to wait for an appointment with a vet clinic sometime in the next week. I called Peaceful Pathways in hope that my cat would have the chance to pass peacefully at home. Their receptionist responded quickly and was very understanding, managing to make me an appointment on fairly short notice. She answered all the questions I had and was patient with me when I lost track of the conversation and began crying. On the day of the appointment Dr. Winnick was exceptionally kind and gave me the time I needed to say goodbye. If I had to describe her in three words they would be; Compassionate, Respectful, and Patient. She never rushed me, listened patiently while I told her a couple of stories about my cats life, and explained everything about the process she would perform before waiting for me to make the final decision. My family cat of 19 years and some months was diagnosed with ESRD and given anywhere from a few days to a few months to live. Our primary vet gave us the option of either putting him down or keeping him on a regimen of IV fluids/other medications to keep him comfortable. However, even with the meds, he wasn't really eating and had lost so much weight compared to his prime. The deterioration happened very quickly in a matter of months, and I saw how much my parents and my cat were both suffering. The meds weren't a sustainable option as we didn't want to torture the cat with IVs daily and I think his condition was really impacting my parents' well-being. We decided that he wasn't really living anymore and made the painful choice to have him put down. I learned about in-home euthanasia from a co-worker and was very grateful that this service exists. The last thing I wanted was for my cat to be stressed during his last moments (he was vomiting during car rides to the vet) and for us to be bawling at a vet's office. Our goal was to get our cat as comfortable as possible before we put him down and to have him go peacefully in a familiar environment surrounded by loved ones. While we were hopeful he would pass naturally, he just would not give up! I dreaded the day of our appointment, and kept feeling conflicted about whether we had the right to cut our cat's life short. I'm still processing and it'll take some time before I feel okay again, but I'm very appreciative of Dr. Winnick's care throughout this whole ordeal. I work in healthcare and have seen medical professionals speak to families in a way that is uncalled for, especially when they are grieving. However, Dr. Winnick was anything but that. She was very patient and respectful. She knew what we needed before we even had to say anything. She explained the entire process and made sure we knew what to expect while allowing us some personal time to grieve every step of the way. There were little things that she did that felt like she went above and beyond during this difficult time, like have a basket prepared for our cat to rest in or having a rainbow blanket in the car (which for me, felt very symbolic of him crossing the rainbow bridge). This job isn't for everyone and I know I certainly could not do it. I have had 3 of my own dogs so I have walked this road before. Zoe had a liver tumor that we had removed by the grace of god. Sadly the tumor grew back in a year but I would not change anything or return one moment I had with her. Dogs just don't live long enough..... she was 14 and tired. I have lost dogs in the doctors office and was not doing that to her. Dr Jen came and was so caring and compassionate. She made sure that every step along the way was explained and on our terms. She gave me all the time I needed with her before and after. When she had to go away with Dr Jen she let me bring her out and had a little bed and comfy dog zone all prepared in the back of her car. I didn't have to hand her off to anyone. I carried her until the last moment myself and put her in the little bed just like her own bed. Dr Jen even put a little pillow under her head. Zoe went to rainbow bridge in the most loving and peaceful way possible. In her bed, in her room with mommy holding her and Dr Jen made it that way. I can't thank you enough Dr Jen. For all you do at the worst moments in all our fur parents lives you are a blessing for sure. Our dog was diagnosed with cancer and his condition suddenly took a worse turn last week. We struggled with the decision, but we realized that it might be time to end the suffering so we made the difficult call to Dr. Winnick. It was early morning so I wasn't expecting to hear back until their business hour. However I was surprised to get a text directly from Dr. Winnick right away. She was very empathic and understanding, providing us with all the information on what to expect and quickly setup an appointment for the next day. This was 9am that day. Our Angel passed peacefully that afternoon. It was already after hours when all this happened. I notified Dr. Winnick to update her on the situation, since the email says to notify them right away if conditions changed. I got a text back from Dr. Winnick right away, she was more than understanding and cancelled the appointment for us. All this happened right before the MLK long weekend, and today we just received a card from Dr. Winnick. For someone that did not even know or see our dog, her kindness was definitely heartfelt. This was the first time I've ever had to make a decision to put down a pet. This was the hardest decision I've ever had to make. Last Friday was when my sweet boy Teddy crossed the rainbow road. When I was on the phone making the appointment for the next day, The woman on the phone ( I don't remember her name) was so sweet and patient with me as I was choking up tears. The following day came, and it was super tough. When Dr. Winnick came she was sweet, gentle, patient, I am so glad I found her. She made the process for Teddy as comfortable as possible. I wasn't sure how I was going to endure through this whole experience but she explained everything that was going to happen and that made me feel that Teddy was definitely in good hands. This is probably the most difficult 5 star review I will write, but I want to thank Dr. Metzger and Peaceful Pathways for helping our beloved family dog of 13 years, Krissy, cross the rainbow bridge. I called to make an appointment for at-home euthanasia and the person who spoke with me was extremely kind and informative. She was able to answer all of my questions - especially because this is the first time I've ever had to do something like this. We were able to make an appointment for 3 days after with Dr. Metzger. When researching different services, I prioritized the following: - Ability to hold and pet my dog throughout the entire visit - Can accommodate my large household (8+ people) - Clay paw print included Because I have a large family, we did the procedure outdoors in our backyard. Everyone was wearing masks and social distancing when possible. Dr. Metzger arrived on time, went over my information, and collected payment. She then met Krissy and the rest of our family. She explained to everyone what would happen during the procedure. She was also very sensitive to everyone's emotions and let us take as much time as we needed between steps. She was super sweet, informative, and empathetic. At the end, we received a clay paw print, lock of her fur, and some pet loss literature. Definitely made one of the most difficult days in my life a little easier. They are good at returning calls and messages but they aren't sensitive of how ppl feelings when they have to go through such big painful decision. I called first time to schedule a service for six days later, at that time my cat was declining but not to bad yet, so I honestly told them if I need to reschedule if he is showing sign of wanting to stay longer, I will call to reschedule two days ahead even they have cancelation policy which only require for 24 hour notice. Then they told me don't make the appointment unless I am very sure about it. How can someone be so sure when to put down our fur babies?? Especially we aren't waiting till their last moments when they are having seizures on the vet table... So I called two days later when I'm more sure about it. That was on Monday, and I tried to schedule for Wednesday. I got text messages asking me commit to it, which makes me very uncomfortable and upset. I was going through so much pain to make that decision and how can they be so business talking and insensitive. It was my first pet and my first time to do thiis, Only because the first time I called I told them I wasn't sure, when I called back to schedule, they had sent me a text to make sure I committed to it. I ended up went for another company who are way more sensitive and even they told me don't feel bad to reschedule even on the same day if my cat was feeling better. It was such a comfort. I did need up sending my cat away on that Wednesday but not with this company. read more
