We recently made the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our beloved cat Simba, who was 16 years old and suffering from progressive kidney disease that had taken away her appetite and her quality of life. Choosing in-home euthanasia was difficult, but Peaceful Pathways made it as gentle and peaceful an experience as we could have hoped for. From our very first phone call, Amy was warm, patient, and genuinely caring as she helped us set up the appointment. We weren't sure we were making the right decision, and she answered all our questions with kindness and reassurance during a really uncertain time. When Dr. Jenn Winnick arrived, her compassion was immediately evident. She took the time to explain everything and assured us we were doing the right thing for Simba. She treated Simba with such gentle care and created a calm, loving atmosphere for her final moments. Her kindness turned an unbearably sad day into one filled with peace and dignity for our sweet girl. We are forever grateful to Dr. Winnick and Amy for helping us say goodbye to Simba in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by love. If you're facing this difficult decision, I cannot recommend Peaceful Pathways highly enough. read more

My Sweet dog had a wonderful life of love. When she was 16 years old actually, 2 weeks before she would turn 17, when I realized it was time to let her pass in peace. I called Peaceful Pathways and they called me back later that day and set up a time to come to my home. The Vet was kind and patient. My sweet baby got to pass away in my home in a peaceful quiet home she'd lived in her whole life. She was calm. This was the exact opposite from what had happened at the last dog I had put to sleep at the Vets office. Using Peaceful Pathways was the best kindest way to say good bye. read more

Saying goodbye to my 16-year-old senior dachshund was one of the hardest and most emotional days of my life, but Dr. Winnick made a heartbreaking experience incredibly peaceful and comforting. She handled everything with so much grace, putting us completely at ease. I also want to give a special thank you to Amy, who was so kind and patient during the scheduling process, explaining exactly what to expect. I am deeply grateful for their compassionate service and highly recommend them to anyone facing this difficult transition. read more

What an amazingly peaceful experience for such a difficult time. I was gutted to put my beloved senior dog down, but I could not have asked for a better experience to provide closure. -The visit lasts 30-45 minutes long. -First comes sedation, which we offered while our dog was licking ice cream and he practically fell asleep in the bowl which was so sweet. We hadn't seen him rest that deeply (*snoring) in quite some time - so this was a gift in itself. -Dr Winnick is wonderful about stepping away, offering space to grieve, whatever is needed. We had about 10 mins with him while sedation took effect. -We also received guidance on how to handle our other dog during the course, having her present. - Next up is the IV with euthanasia. Super quick when administered, but my goodness so peaceful. -She took his clay paw prints after he passed. She invited us to talk to her a little about his life. -We received another moment to say another goodbye, then helped him onto a stretcher brought by Dr Winnick. She had his head on a pillow and wrapped him in a rainbow blanket . -Any animal over 35lbs needs assistance with Dr Winnick to bring to the car. My husband and I each carried a side of the stretcher as we wanted to be "pall bearers" of sorts for our 60lb dog. -Dr Winnick drove away with him when we were ready. - She also gave us materials on how to process loss of a pet with other pets and with our children. We even received a coloring book and story for our kids. Truly just - human kindness. We had ocean waves on the TV, a lit candle, crystals surrounding him, and the smell of bacon in the air. I couldn't imagine a better, more peaceful send off for my sweet boy. We opted for private cremation and will receive ashes in the mail in ~2 weeks. Thank you Dr Winnick for your heart, kindness, and compassion. And Amy who helped us with preparing for the visit and scheduling. The whole experience was seamless and beautiful. We're forever grateful. read more

Amy and Dr. Winnick were so compassionate during the whole process. Very thorough, caring, and informative. Sensitive and understanding treatment using this service. They were excellent in a very sad time.

This review is well over due partly because writing a positive review for such a heartbreaking decision feels strange. When our 16 year old lab had a sudden health decline we knew it was time to let her go and we wanted to be able to give her a peaceful goodbye. We called Peaceful Pathways and Dr. Winnick was able to come that same day. We feel so fortunate that we were able to give our girl one last wonderful memory of soaking in the sun in her backyard surrounded by so much love. Dr. Winnick was kind and compassionate and took the time to explain things to us while also giving space to grieve. Everything was handled so well and I will forever cherish the paw print keepsake Dr. Winnick made. Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest things but using Peaceful Pathways to give them a peaceful and dignified goodbye made it feel a tiny bit easier. We are forever grateful for their help during such a difficult time. read more

Dr. Winnick is nothing short of exceptional. She is extremely competent and knowledgeable as a clinician. When we need a service like hers, we are not thinking straight. We are gutted and heartbroken. I cannot imagine having had a more exceptional and loving transition for my beloved kitty who had graced me with 18-1/2 incredible years. It broke my heart that we had to part from each other, but the peaceful look on his face was comforting as he transitioned. I cannot thank you enough, Dr. Winnick. read more

When it came time to say goodbye to our sweet cat, Frida, I was absolutely devastated. I didn't want to put her through further trauma of a vet visit and I'm so glad I made the decision to contact Peaceful Pathways. Dr. Winnick is amazing! So compassionate and caring. She really went above and beyond to make the experience right for our family and Frida. When Dr. Winnick walked in, Frida got up to go and greet her, which she didn't do for any stranger. I think that, like us, she immediately sensed Dr. Winnick's calm and gentle energy. I feel so fortunate to be able to look back on that sad day and know Frida left us gently and surrounded by love. read more

I had a wonderful experience with Peaceful Pathways. I dealt with Amy initially and then Dr. Winnick. Both were so compassionate and helpful. On the day I had to put my 15-year old diabetic cat to rest, Dr. Winnick came to my house and although it was one of the hardest, saddest days of my life, the whole process went smoothly and peacefully. She was informative about the process, but more importantly she was gentle with Omar, and very respectful and compassionate. I think this is 100% the way to go as opposed to stressing your animal out going to a veterinary office, and I would wholeheartedly recommend Peaceful Pathways. read more

I am so impressed with this vet and her staff. From the very first phone call I felt respected and comforted by their care and compassion. Euthanizing a beloved companion is terribly hard. Dr. Jenn did everything to make me feel that I was doing the best thing for my darling dog and she gave me all the information about how everything would happen. The actual procedure in my home was beautiful, compassionate and gentle. She showed great respect and care. Sadly, I've had to use Peaceful Pathways twice in a span of less than two years. Each time the experience was respectful and easy in terms of logistics, the process itself, and taking your baby away. When it came time to say goodbye to my 16 year old lab, Kenzie, I called Peaceful Pathways per recommendation from my vet. It was essential that I find someone who could come out the same day that I called since Kenzie was unable to stand up, and thanks to a cancellation that Peaceful Pathways had, they were able to accommodate us. Dr. Winnick arrived a couple hours after my call, and she couldn't have been more understanding, respectful, and patient during the process. She made sure I was able to spend time with my girl, and gave me all the time I needed to say goodbye. It was heartbreaking as expected, but it couldn't have been a more peaceful passing. I very highly recommend calling them when you need this help at a very difficult time. read more

Jenn has the perfect temperament and personality for this line of business. We sadly had to have our sweet 14 year old Shih-tzu put down after a battle with kidney failure. I was at peace with our decision because she had lost so much weight and had really stopped eating and drinking and knew her time had come. But when the day actually came I was really a mess. We booked only the day before, so Peaceful Pathways having available the following day was really great because I don't think we could have gone any longer. Dr Jenn was punctual, her admin Amy was also so kind and easy to work with. When Dr. Jenn arrived, she was SO kind and respectful of our space. You could tell she had done this many times and really knew her audience. She was so gentle with our sweet Stella and even after Stella had passed was so loving with her and every detail was very thoughtful. She wrapped her in a blanket and even her trunk was a sweet comfortable space for my baby to be taken to the crematorium in. I would give higher than a 5 rating to Peaceful Pathways as they did such a great job and have lots of after life options for your pet if you don't want to keep the ashes. Thank you so much Dr. Jenn and Amy for taking such good care of us. read more

While my friend recommended Peaceful Pathways, I did not utilize the service as the intake person on the phone was awful and uncaring, telling me my dog would likely die before the appointment so there would be a nonrefundable deposit requirement. I wanted to make the difficult appointment 3 days away, at the end of the week. The lady on the phone told me that my beloved dog would likely pass before the appointment because he was open-mouth breathing. Really?!?! Geez! I've been in contact with my vet and that is definitely not the case. This person on the phone wanted a nonrefundable deposit for the appointment even though the cancellation policy on their site states "...if a doctor arrives or a cancellation request is less than 2 hours before the scheduled time we kindly reserve the right to charge the full cost of the visit ($450). If the cancellation is due to the natural death of your pet this fee will not be applied." So awful to treat someone this way. She knew I was devastated and crying before these two issues came up. I now have to call around and go through more pain describing what I need and finding someone available. read more

Peaceful Pathways - we placed flowers around her neck to send her over the rainbow bridge - Pet Hospice Near Me - Palo Alto, California

Dr. Winnick is great. We decided to put our dog to sleep after 16 long years. My friend recommended doing an in-home euthanasia (which I didn't know existed) once I shared that Simba just had a stroke (on top of other various medical conditions he had). I'm so glad that we went this route. Dr. Winnick made every step of the process easier than I would have ever imagined. She has such a heart warming presence. From the initial inquiry all the way to the end when our boy crossed over the rainbow bridge, Dr. Winnick was patient, attentive, sweet, and caring. Thank you Dr. Winnick for helping us. Peaceful Pathways - Paw prints given to us. - Pet Hospice Near Me - Palo Alto, California

I have had 3 of my own dogs so I have walked this road before. Zoe had a liver tumor that we had removed by the grace of god. Sadly the tumor grew back in a year but I would not change anything or return one moment I had with her. Dogs just don't live long enough..... she was 14 and tired. I have lost dogs in the doctors office and was not doing that to her. Dr Jen came and was so caring and compassionate. She made sure that every step along the way was explained and on our terms. She gave me all the time I needed with her before and after. When she had to go away with Dr Jen she let me bring her out and had a little bed and comfy dog zone all prepared in the back of her car. I didn't have to hand her off to anyone. I carried her until the last moment myself and put her in the little bed just like her own bed. Dr Jen even put a little pillow under her head. Zoe went to rainbow bridge in the most loving and peaceful way possible. In her bed, in her room with mommy holding her and Dr Jen made it that way. I can't thank you enough Dr Jen. For all you do at the worst moments in all our fur parents lives you are a blessing for sure. When it was time to bring Zoe back home Dr Jen even arranged to drop her off in person and gave me a little paw print in ceramic. We can't thank you enough for your true compassion and professionalism. My baby and I are forever grateful. Bonnie and Zoe read more

My family cat of 19 years and some months was diagnosed with ESRD and given anywhere from a few days to a few months to live. Our primary vet gave us the option of either putting him down or keeping him on a regimen of IV fluids/other medications to keep him comfortable. However, even with the meds, he wasn't really eating and had lost so much weight compared to his prime. The deterioration happened very quickly in a matter of months, and I saw how much my parents and my cat were both suffering. The meds weren't a sustainable option as we didn't want to torture the cat with IVs daily and I think his condition was really impacting my parents' well-being. We decided that he wasn't really living anymore and made the painful choice to have him put down. I learned about in-home euthanasia from a co-worker and was very grateful that this service exists. The last thing I wanted was for my cat to be stressed during his last moments (he was vomiting during car rides to the vet) and for us to be bawling at a vet's office. Our goal was to get our cat as comfortable as possible before we put him down and to have him go peacefully in a familiar environment surrounded by loved ones. While we were hopeful he would pass naturally, he just would not give up! I dreaded the day of our appointment, and kept feeling conflicted about whether we had the right to cut our cat's life short. I'm still processing and it'll take some time before I feel okay again, but I'm very appreciative of Dr. Winnick's care throughout this whole ordeal. I work in healthcare and have seen medical professionals speak to families in a way that is uncalled for, especially when they are grieving. However, Dr. Winnick was anything but that. She was very patient and respectful. She knew what we needed before we even had to say anything. She explained the entire process and made sure we knew what to expect while allowing us some personal time to grieve every step of the way. There were little things that she did that felt like she went above and beyond during this difficult time, like have a basket prepared for our cat to rest in or having a rainbow blanket in the car (which for me, felt very symbolic of him crossing the rainbow bridge). This job isn't for everyone and I know I certainly could not do it. I hope I don't have to use this service ever again, but in the event that I do, I would want Dr. Winnick to be there for me. read more

This was the first time I've ever had to make a decision to put down a pet. This was the hardest decision I've ever had to make. Last Friday was when my sweet boy Teddy crossed the rainbow road. When I was on the phone making the appointment for the next day, The woman on the phone ( I don't remember her name) was so sweet and patient with me as I was choking up tears. The following day came, and it was super tough. When Dr. Winnick came she was sweet, gentle, patient, I am so glad I found her. She made the process for Teddy as comfortable as possible. I wasn't sure how I was going to endure through this whole experience but she explained everything that was going to happen and that made me feel that Teddy was definitely in good hands. I'm very grateful for Dr. Winnick and her team at Peaceful Pathways to take very good care of our family dog. I had just received a sympathy card from them yesterday in the mail, and it made me feel good about choosing Peaceful Pathways. P.S. This review might seem all over the place, I wanted to wait until later on to make this review as the wounds are still so fresh and I'm a mess creating this review. But I want everyone to know how great Peaceful Pathways is and Dr. Winnick. read more

This is probably the most difficult 5 star review I will write, but I want to thank Dr. Metzger and Peaceful Pathways for helping our beloved family dog of 13 years, Krissy, cross the rainbow bridge. I called to make an appointment for at-home euthanasia and the person who spoke with me was extremely kind and informative. She was able to answer all of my questions - especially because this is the first time I've ever had to do something like this. We were able to make an appointment for 3 days after with Dr. Metzger. When researching different services, I prioritized the following: - Ability to hold and pet my dog throughout the entire visit - Can accommodate my large household (8+ people) - Clay paw print included Because I have a large family, we did the procedure outdoors in our backyard. Everyone was wearing masks and social distancing when possible. Dr. Metzger arrived on time, went over my information, and collected payment. She then met Krissy and the rest of our family. She explained to everyone what would happen during the procedure. She was also very sensitive to everyone's emotions and let us take as much time as we needed between steps. She was super sweet, informative, and empathetic. At the end, we received a clay paw print, lock of her fur, and some pet loss literature. Definitely made one of the most difficult days in my life a little easier. If you are ever considering at home euthanasia, then I highly recommend Peaceful Pathways for their professionalism, kindness, and empathy. read more

Our dog was diagnosed with cancer and his condition suddenly took a worse turn last week. We struggled with the decision, but we realized that it might be time to end the suffering so we made the difficult call to Dr. Winnick. It was early morning so I wasn't expecting to hear back until their business hour. However I was surprised to get a text directly from Dr. Winnick right away. She was very empathic and understanding, providing us with all the information on what to expect and quickly setup an appointment for the next day. This was 9am that day. Our Angel passed peacefully that afternoon. It was already after hours when all this happened. I notified Dr. Winnick to update her on the situation, since the email says to notify them right away if conditions changed. I got a text back from Dr. Winnick right away, she was more than understanding and cancelled the appointment for us. All this happened right before the MLK long weekend, and today we just received a card from Dr. Winnick. For someone that did not even know or see our dog, her kindness was definitely heartfelt. I recently had to make the difficult decision to have my elderly cat put to rest. He had been declining for some time but suddenly stopped eating and drinking, and in general it became obvious that he was fading out. It was just before a holiday weekend, and I was both grieving, and quite frankly, panicked at the thought of watching him suffer and decline further while being forced to wait for an appointment with a vet clinic sometime in the next week. I called Peaceful Pathways in hope that my cat would have the chance to pass peacefully at home. Their receptionist responded quickly and was very understanding, managing to make me an appointment on fairly short notice. She answered all the questions I had and was patient with me when I lost track of the conversation and began crying. On the day of the appointment Dr. Winnick was exceptionally kind and gave me the time I needed to say goodbye. If I had to describe her in three words they would be; Compassionate, Respectful, and Patient. She never rushed me, listened patiently while I told her a couple of stories about my cats life, and explained everything about the process she would perform before waiting for me to make the final decision. Making the choice to have a beloved pet put to rest is never an easy thing. Dr. Winnick and her team have my deep gratitude for their care and support. Thank you for helping me send my little man off peacefully and without pain. read more

Only in the sky are there enough stars for Dr. Winnick and Peaceful Pathways; there aren't nearly enough on Yelp. She helped our dog Zoe pass over in 2019, and just this week, helped our dog Baxter. She is supremely calm, caring, supportive, empathetic, and professional. She calmed any fears I had about the timing of letting our dogs go.
