The food is average at best, or below average, compared to a lot of other Thai restaurants in the city. The "mild" in their dishes is still quite spicy. You can opt for "no spice" in the fried rice and pad thai, but the lowest spice level for the curries is "mild" (which I still find to be very spicy). Their pad thai is mediocre - 98% noodles that are somewhat soggy and stick together, sauce that is sub-par taste-wise compared to many other pad thai I've had in other places, very little protein (regardless of which protein option you choose), and very little of any other ingredients (including bean sprouts, other vegetables and garnishes). The Thai fried rice is alright - I like the mild taste and that it's not oily. They put more protein in this one, compared to the pad thai. But it could use more veggies in the mix. Green curry is flavourful and comes with pieces of bamboo shoots and green pepper. There is a good amount of protein (we chose fish) in this one. It's just too bad that it's too spicy. I'm glad they added steamed vegetables as a side to the menu (which used to not be there before) - simple, still-crisp broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots without any sauce complement the other dishes nicely.

Reservations accepted. We ordered tapioca pearl dumplings, crispy fried rice, coffee, and soy milk with grass jelly. The tapioca pearl dumplings filled with chicken, radish and peanuts came in five and were really delicious. The coconut crispy rice was made with crispy rice, cured pork, herbs and peanuts. We loved the texture and taste of the dish - it was very refreshing with the lettuce wrap, and combined with the house-made chilli sauce, elevated it. After these two dishes, we were full and took some coconut crispy rice home. Service was quick and friendly. Chef Dao came out to speak to us after our meal, and we could see the passion and love they put into each dish. Amazing Laos food is popping up in Toronto, and this is one of those spots. Lao Food Co also offers a monthly supper club, which is a three-course prixe fixe meal - which we plan on going to in the future. The restaurant is only open on weekends. Overall, we are excited to try this neighbourhood gem and would encourage others to try delicious Laotian food at Lao Food Co. Very good flavour on all the food. Especially liked their fish sauce dip. Very well seasoned. I didn't like the iced coffee as much though. This place is worth checking out for some more less-common Vietnamese dishes.

I let the egg sit for too long so it wasn't as funny as I wanted Banh Beo staple Vietnamese dish, so good, nice sweet and savory dish with the peanuts made it a perfect two biter. Not sure if it was super fresh as I did find some plastic around the rim of the dish. The shrimp cracker was really good as well, dipped with the fish sauce!! Wish it was a but spicy though. Don't be afraid to step away from your normal pho. These Vietnamese dishes are very good and can't be ignored !

But we had already ordered the pad thai - you get to choose the noodle for pad thai and the spice level, we went for the glass noodles and it turned out really delicious. Very well balanced flavours! The pad kra pao was also good and the portion sizes for both were actually really generous. We also ordered two drinks from Khem and my favourite was the Southern Thai pulled tea.

Got orh luak (oyster omelette - a combination of crispy hoi tod & soft orh suan) & kanom pal kad (fried radish cake). Oyster omelettes are apparently "renowned as one of the top three must-try street food dishes in Bangkok". Radish cake had a lot of beansprouts on top. They tasted a little like the dim sum version but without things like dried shrimp or Chinese sausage inside (but with large firm peanut halves), cut much smaller & quite peppery. The dish didn't feel integrated as the chives, green onion & beansprouts seemed scattered on top, not cooked (much less cooked together with the radish cake). The egg was also fried on its own, not with the radish cake. It was served with sweet soy sauce & chill slices in vinegar. I saw a video at another Thai place how they cook this on the street in Thailand: small pieces are fried on a griddle together with beansprouts & chives, so this is different. Oyster omelette was served with smooth sweet & sour red chili sauce & coarse green chili sauce. Both were good, but green was better. Which was good, because the oyster omelette had little flavour. The soft bit was very gooey & had a super mild flavour. The crispy bit was thin & crispy & ironically despite being thin tasted better & had more of a taste than the gooey bit. The beansprouts were underneath & more cooked than in the other dish because of the heat from above. The oysters were not fresh either.

The vegetable spring rolls were large but cut in half to resemble four mini rolls. It tasted good with the sweet and spicy sauce, but the inner veggie filling was piping hot (be careful, almost burned my tongue!). The curry portions were quite generous - especially the Green Curry which came in a bowl that was the size of a medium salad bowl! It was creamy and flavourful. The Ayam Curry was extremely savoury and the chicken was so soft. Instead of the creamy viscosity of the Green Curry, it harboured a thick, sauce-like consistency. It paired so wonderfully with the lightly toasted and buttered roti. It was so delicious that I ordered another! If I had to choose one to recommend, it would be the Ayam Curry.
