In my defense, I do like their cheap clothes, but you absolutely get what you pay for. Give it one or two washes and watch your new shirt change shape and quality before your eyes. Disposable fashion in the most literal sense. Honestly, I mostly ducked in here to escape the sights, sounds, and wall-to-wall tourists of the Theater District for a few minutes. On that measure, it succeeded. As a clothing store, it's the same as all the others. Three stars, a running theme.

I had an exceptionally positive and inclusive experience with Jazmin S at the Nordstrom Men's store…read moreon West 57th street. I was looking to purchase a present for my boyfriend. Specifically was looking for recommendations for a beard/mustache product - however I needed some guidance picking a product out. In the past I made the mistake of picking a product my brothers used and realized not all products are designed for all skin and hair types. I explained to Jazmin my prior mistake purchasing products and that my partner is half black and showed a picture to illustrate his facial hair type - so I was looking for a product designed for his skin and hair type. Jazmin could not have been more helpful and showed me two different facial hair grooming kits to choose from - and explained the price difference between purchasing the individual products vs. products as a kit. She was both knowledgeable and transparent. Also, she paid attention to details while not making me feel rushed at all. She noticed when I walked by the YSL colognes that I wanted to purchase a YSL cologne for my BF but he loved certain scents of the brand and strongly disliked other scents and I did not recall which one was which. So I commented in passing "I'll have to bring him back in person to get the cologne". While I was checking out Jazmin dropped some YSL cologne samples in the bag and my BF ended up really liking one scent- so now I know which cologne to purchase! Jazmin did me a great job with the facial kit recommendation, my bf LOVED the kit we chose and his bandmates were a bit envious- one said "my girlfriend doesn't buy me stuff like this after my performances!" You did me a solid!!

Over the past few years, I have purchased several fitted dress shirts and two $2,500 Canali suits…read morefrom this location. My last shopping experience for my second suit, unfortunately, made me not want to return. My first experience was with Michael G several years ago. He was extremely nice and helpful, showing me options and explaining the differences in the fabrics and where they were made. The fitting experience was great. I felt good at the end, making a big purchase. Later, I called to get some fitted dress shirts, and they had all my information on file. I trusted Michael and had him ship them to me; I didn't even need to come in; it was a very premium experience. The second time I purchased a suit, the experience was exactly the opposite. The woman who helped me seemed uninterested. She really didn't want to help at all. Given her brash, unenthusiastic behavior, I was hoping to go through the process myself, so I asked if she could pull up the profile Michael had made for me. Turns out they only save the customer measurement details for a year now. Seems ridiculous to save money on basic data storage rather than keeping customer records to expedite and provide good service. When I was trying on the suit, I felt rushed, and she never made me feel confident, which is always appreciated when making a big-ticket purchase. She didn't show me options or explain anything beyond saying the old color I had was no longer available, and the one I was holding was the new version they carried. When I received the suit 2 weeks later, the alterations were sloppy as well. Loose threads and not packed well. You'd think it was a $200 means warehouse rental I received. Just got another suit this month and found out I can get a made-to-measure custom suit in Soho for 30% less! They lost a lifetime customer, as I have been buying suits from Nordstroms since I lived in Chicago starting in 2014.

Oh, you carnivorous monkeycup: let me count the emmer-effing ways…read more I first entered "the know" about this spot via a Tumbl'd picture of a floral print bow tie that inspired within me a particular bloodlust. After some sniffing, I became aware not only of the unparalleled awesome that is Engineered Garments, but of this flagship-of-sorts that was conveniently located right around the corner from my then place of employ. These were more monied times for me, and something of a low-intensity monster was conceived the day Abdul (you've seen him in the blogosphere) led me to that very bow I'd been ogling. Daiki Suzuki has been designing meticulously expressive wearables under the EG name for something like 15 years, and this is the place where you're like to see the best mix of basics and limited-run OMGWTF statement pieces from his seasonal oeuvre. The staff is the chillest of chill, the art exhibits routinely lovely, the music choices ritually luscious, but the clothes? Say what you will about the life or death of "workwear." Feast your eyes on one of these impeccably styled mannequins and riff as I would, on some Flann O'Brien: this is very wholesome stuff, every stitch a sermon in itself.

She gave me excellent recommendations, helped me put together the perfect combinations, and even taught me a few things that I'll definitely carry into my makeup routine moving forward. What stood out most was her patience and professionalism. Even in such a busy store, while working alone, she managed multiple customers flawlessly and with ease. It was honestly impressive and beautiful to watch her handle everything so smoothly without ever making anyone feel rushed. On top of that, she made sure to tell me about current promotions, which helped me save tremendously. I ended up purchasing all of her recommendations and couldn't be happier. The customization process allowed me to get the rise, length, proportions and overall silhouette exactly where I wanted them, and the finished trousers fit exceptionally well. The fabric and construction are excellent, but what impressed me most is that the trousers look genuinely proportioned for me rather than simply being standard pants with extra length added.
