Young gal behind the bar gave us our menus to look over and we ordered fountain beverages. I chose the Monday Meatloaf lunch special which was Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and brown gravy. The Meatloaf was good and the mashed potatoes were genuine. We came for lunch. We'd been to this location before, but not since it became the Lantern. It's looks pretty much the same inside, except for a new back room that reminded me of a luncheonette. We sat at the bar in the front. We looked at their lunch menu but nothing really appealed. There was only one gal eating in -- having a sandwich and later two ladies vane for drinks and shared a sandwich. My husband had the Monday meatloaf. He liked it enough to take half home. It came with mashed potatoes and nothing else. I got an order of chicken wings Korean bbq style. I asked if they could do all flats. When they arrived, they weren't. The wings were good. I asked about getting carrots and celery and they gave me a few pieces of each. Prices are a little high. I'm assuming that's why the place was empty at lunchtime. I'm glad we came. Definitely a local joint. We went Thursday night, which they have trivia night, small place loud speakers. What was cool is that you actually win stuff, from Jell-O shots to $150 gift card as the top prize. We Waited 35 minutes for ribs, chicken nuggets and onion rings?? Had brunch today at The Lantern. It has been renovated and the diner space has been restored to 50s decor. The food was delicious. We had corned beef hash and biscuits with sausage gravy. They just had a grand reopening after all the improvements were completed by the new owner, Chad. read more

I'm not usually one for the tavern environment, but this place was pleasantly surprising! The waitress I had was probably the sweetest woman ever. She checked on us constantly, refilled our waters before they emptied, and was so helpful. I can't remember the last time I've had such a friendly hostess! The environment is also very unique. The front of the restaurant is diner style. Really gets you in the mood for a good breakfast! The second room made me feel like I was in a ballroom or a fancy room in an old film. Very simple but elegant. I absolutely loved it! The third room I didn't venture into, but it was a sports bar looking room! I think it's awesome that a spot can have so many different ambiances simultaneously. The food was also delicious. I wasn't too sure of what to order because there aren't too many photos on Yelp, so I went with the chicken sandwich lunch special. It was an actual whole chicken breast on a fresh bun, topped with a great portion of lettuce, tomato, and onion. The fries were crispy, and I even got a side of honey mustard that tasted like they make it in the house. Passed by this place so many times and after looking to see that they had $.75 wings on Wednesday... HAD TO TRY! Walking in it is exactly what is posted... local tavern but in a great way! Walls lined with TVs in bar area and plenty of seating. Was immediately greeted by Stacey and it was confirmed about the wings! Thought, ok they will be small and only one or two flavors right? NOPE! Lots of flavors to choose from and gotta say from the Thai lime chili to the Korean BBQ and others it did not disappoint! Good sized wings and the ranch was a buttermilk and delicious! As a big fan of LILO's in Lake Worth I was excited to check out that group's newest offering Lantern Local Tavern during breakfast on their opening weekend! The hostess was very friendly and offered us the last comfy booth in the kitchen area. This area probably won't be for everyone, but i enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the kitchen and seeing all the food being plated up at the window and then whisked off to its final destination. I peeked at the menu online and knew the only choice for me was going to be the Cinnamon Toast Crunch crusted French toast (the Cereal French Toast on the menu) with a sweetened condensed milk glaze generously poured on top! It was very good. I thought I'd need syrup too, but no...the French toast was well cooked but not dry and the sweetened condensed milk topping was plenty to keep it sweet and gooey (how I like it)! The menu is teasing a "coming soon" brunch buffet and all you can drink mimosas...so yeah...I'll be back for that! read more

I was visiting family in the area, and we heard that Lantern was a Bills Backers bar. Being from Buffalo, we were so excited to hear this! We wanted a burger and gave this place a try. We used to come to the Hive when it was located here. The decor inside the dining area is very dark, and the chairs and tables are cozy. The bar was packed with what looked like regulars. Barbara was our server and she was great, although she didn't inform us of the mayonnaise up charge and the extra 3% service charge. The burgers came out quickly and looked good. Two slices of tomato and a nice portion of cheese, lettuce, and pickles. However, there was no sauce. I asked for mayonnaise so I could create my own sauce. I didn't think it would be $1.18 for a condiment.. oh well. Beers were cold and the onion rings I added on were crispy and tasty. The problem was the burger. It didn't have much flavor and the color of it was very light. I started to question the beef in my mind and then I couldn't eat any more. I gave this place another chance for boozy breakfast since my lunch experience wasn't so great. I went with my husband and a friend and it was a much better time. It was not very busy when we arrived at 9am on a Saturday, but when we were done dining, it was a pretty full restaurant. The Boozy Breakfast deal is pretty good. 2 hours of bottomless mimosas, tequila sunrise, bloody Mary, and screwdrivers. $14.99 for well and $5 more for Titos or Espolon. The OJ mixer was good, and there was just a little pulp. The menu had a good selection for healthy and indulgent entrees. Everything from donuts and Cinnamon Toast Crunch Crusted French Toast to fresh egg omelets and even deviled eggs or biscuits and homemade gravy. The food was well seasoned, but the kitchen still needs some work. I ordered a Denver omelet with no onion and cheddar cheese instead of American cheese. After telling our server that it had onions and not Cheddar, she started to argue a little, and then she took my meal back and shortly returned with the corrected plate. The rest of our service was good, and our bottomless glasses were often refilled. The walls inside are a little dreary because there are no windows to let in natural light to the dining room, but the decor is interesting to look at. I gotta tell ya, I'm a huge Bills fan but can never get a reserved table. We go there a lot with friends-for hours drinking and eating. Also great tips. We've been before and been told the high tops were reserved so we all had to move! We've called to reserve and been told more than once that "we don't take reservations ". Then have been told to make a reservation you need to belong to 561 Bill Backers, which WE ARE! WTH!? I love this place but this is really pissing me off! read more

I went for lunch on Wednesday and sat at the bar. Kara the bartender was so pleasant and helpful. I tried something off their special Lobster Fest menu. I had the Lobster Chowder and the Lobster Croque Monsieur. Both were delicious. Big chunks of lobster in every bite. Their new 7 days a week Brunch menu is amazing. I had ate at Lantern Local Tavern to stop in and have a quick bite for brunch. I went with the biscuits and gravy and breakfast potatoes. I was very happy with this choice. The potatoes were very crispy, which is a necessity when it comes to those! Everything was seasoned great and came out hot. We also enjoyed mimosas while we were there, which they had a good list of options for juices. I went with the blood orange and it was very tasty. The service was good.. I would say it took a little while for our food and drink to arrive, which was surprising due to the little amount of people there during our visit. It was very quaint in the restaurant. We first went to the Lantern a few weeks ago after hearing about their lobster menu, the food was fantastic though the drinks were not,I would have given it 4 - 5 stars. Just came from dinner on Saturday night, so disappointing. They were out of all the lobster menu, out of French onion soup so les than thrilled. Management needs to train and a dress code for employees would be helpful. So sad - has all the potential but staff and lack of oversight and quality control not to mention the absence of any customer service standards kills this establishment. Upon entering the restaurant you have walk through the dinner section to get to the dining room which is a little odd. Once we were inside the ambiance was soothing and and gave a nice homey feel due well placed dim lighting. Food was aesthetically pleasing, certain things could have used a little extra seasoning but overall not bad. Service was amazing, staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. My only recommendation would be to have the kitchen/bar help to have alternate route to get supplies and trash from one side to the other with out walking it trough the dinning room. read more

I decided to give them a try to support local restaurants. I walked in and they have a bar with torn seats right in front of the kitchen. The food smell was so strong I asked to be moved to the inside restaurant/ bar. I was directed to a high top and waited over 15 minutes to get someone to come over and take my order. I asked the bar tender if I could place an order and she told me she didn't do that. She got a waitress to come take my order and the food came out fast. I had breakfast so it was average. I'll go back to Kona...way better! So there is that. I finished my breakfast and mimosa, and the waitress was nowhere to be found. The place was empty by the way. I wanted another mimosa so I got up to order and pay at the bar for the drink. Before I placed the order this guy walked by the table and asked if I was done and ready for my check. He took the plate and did not bother to ask if I wanted anything else. I finish my second mimosa and finally the waitress shows up! She gave me the bill and took off again. So I wasn't about to spend another minute there so I brought the check to her so I could get out. Horrible service!!!! Will never be back. read more

We really wanted to love this restaurant because it's close to home. It gives me mixed vibes, diner, fancy restaurant and local bar spot. So I'm not sure what part of it I enjoy. When you walk in you think it's a diner because of the booths. Then you get sat in a nice dining room with big comfy chairs but in the distance you hear loud chatter from the bar area that's tucked in the back. It's all very confusing. Food was sub par.
