When they moved to McLean earlier this year, I went with about 20 items to put up for consignment. (I had made appointment as they require.) I brought in beautiful clothes, in excellent condition. They took the boxes to the back to inspect the clothing and choose which they wanted to take for consignment; and while that was going on I browsed. I couldn't believe the downgrade in the clothing; while the quality was fine, I did not see anything stylish for sale. I was not even tempted to try anything on. After about 20 minutes the owner comes back and says she cannot take any of my items, although she would consider one in the fall (it was a spring/summer item, as were all the pieces, as this took place in mid-Spring) and I "could come back in a few months." Super dismissive and arrogant. The one good thing was the friendly young man at the counter, who I chatted with while I waited. I see the positive reviews here are years old, so here's an update: NTY management is just as or even more snobby now, the prices are even higher -- not just because of time passing but also likely the expensive location -- and they don't even have cool clothes any more.

Not a lot of recent reviews for New To You--well, I'm here to change that. I had a nice experience…read moreon my recent first visit to this store. The staff were visible and ready to help but not pushy. The inventory was well curated and full but not overly stuffed. I saw a number of nice sweaters and dresses that I liked, and I ended up buying one. Also a lot of fun gifts, jewelry, and assorted decor items. This store is geared toward an older crowd, which I really like. I'm past the age of shopping at some other resale boutiques that focus on only the trendiest items in juniors sizing. New To You is more JCrew and higher-end items. Prices seemed to be about 50 percent off original retail. Could you find some of these items thrifting? Sure, but it'd be like pulling a needle from a haystack. I'm willing to pay more for a tailored selection of good-condition items. I'll come back to shop here.

The closest comparison I have is Chico's, though this place is independent and the style is artsier. The pieces here are flattering and designed to be both fun but functional/practical, which I appreciate. I see a lot of pieces I think my mom would adore. That said I have, at 33, found that there is one brand there in particular - Ciara Sun Woo - that is ideal for young professionals and I have bought two of this designer's dresses on sale. They use high tech fabrics that are curve flattering and the perfect balance between clingy and drapey, and also they are super work appropriate but can often go day to night and come in nuanced solid colors. The prices on accessories are very reasonable and the clothing, while a little pricey, comes from smaller lesser known brands and they also have good sales. The staff is very friendly and helpful and it's never crowded so you can shop at a leisurely pace. The only flaw is is the location in the Metro mall and I worry about how well any of the businesses are doing in there. I never go into that mall anymore and sometimes forget this shop is there but when I do remember I think, "oh yeah! That place is great I should stop in." So if you're in Rosslyn check it out and support one of the few remaining small businesses in an increasingly corporate, sterile neighborhood.

Virginia helped me with all of my wedding paper products from save the dates, wedding invitations to thank you notes, bridal shower invitations, day of paper products (programs, personalized napkins) a beautiful embossed wedding guest book and more. I will post pictures and provide a more detailed review later. This gift shop is McLean's best kept secret. This is one of my favorite gift shops in the Washington, DC area. It is the place to go to for ANYTHING PERSONALIZED. They know literally everything there is to know about monogram etiquette and overall personalization (they will even tell you cool/ different places to monogram so you're not like everyone else). The store is beautiful - they have something for everyone. Guys - don't be discouraged by the name. There are gifts for men too - flasks, valets, things that will really be treasured.

I finally was able to visit and it was quite insane!! I had vivid memories of the teen/adult clothing stores that were open decades ago at Dulles Town Center. It's like fast fashion meets Rave, Charlotte Russe and H&M. Great idea bringing this to a busy mall with a lot of foot traffic. They carry so many items at decent/affordable prices. I can see why it was so hyped up. Shoes, jeans, tops---for men, women and kids. There were also miscellaneous items such as water bottles, suitcases, home deco, etc. There were 2 whole floors of items!! I didn't purchase anything, but I did eye stuff for my next visit. I love the self-checkout section. There was a barcode scanner upon exit. They are located on the opposite side of the 3-floor section of the mall. There is an entrance from outside the mall as well as inside. Would I return? for sure

No matter when, or where, I go, the item I want is out of stock in the size I need. I really am drawn to their novelty tees. Each time I am in here I always check them out in hopes to find one to add to my rotation. This stop they had a bunch that I liked, but after searching through everything there, not in my size, as I mentioned above. The selection of other items is great here, but not always what I'm looking for. If I wanted single color matching outfits, this is a great place to pick that up. However, that was not what I was in the mood for this time. Would definitely stop back in here if I am in the area again, but with more and more of these popping up there are locations closer to me.

From…read morethe moment you experience truly custom-tailored apparel, there's no going back--the fit, the feel, the confidence... it's on another level. What really sets Suitability apart, though, is the service. Curtis isn't just a clothier--he's an educator. He takes the time to teach you about classic gentleman's style in a way that's approachable and actually fascinating. I had no idea how much things like color coordination with skin tone mattered, but he breaks it all down so you walk away more knowledgeable, not overwhelmed. Each consultation is thoughtfully scheduled (at least 30 minutes), so you never feel rushed. Whether you're designing a dress shirt or a full suit, Curtis walks you through an incredible range of options--fabrics, patterns, colors, details you didn't even know existed. It could easily feel daunting, but he guides you every step of the way with expert recommendations. I've personally purchased three suits with matching waistcoats and several dress shirts, and every single piece has been exceptional in both quality and fit. And then there's the hospitality. Every time I stop by, I'm offered a drink--coffee, water, even a cocktail (he's got an excellent whisky selection). On Saturdays, he hosts an open house with fruit and pastries, which makes the shop feel more like a welcoming community than a store. I've even dropped in unannounced just to say hi, and Curtis always greets me like an old friend. On top of all that, Suitability carries top-tier accessories--pocket squares, cufflinks, colognes, wallets. He's also the only local spot that carries Secrid wallets. I once had my eye on a specific style he didn't have in stock, and Curtis went the extra mile--literally--to track it down at a trade show and secure the *last one available*. If you're even thinking about upgrading your wardrobe, do yourself a favor and visit Suitability. It's not just shopping--it's an experience.
