Visit Date: March 3, 2022 I came here to visit my girlfriend who works here before heading out to karaoke. I wanted to visit her diner at least one time although I'll be back again. They have a small option on the menu called the vegan box which I was interested in. I want to try mostly everything but for the night I went I tried the vegan scramble. It came with home fries. I thought it came with toast but I didn't get any toast and tofu scrambled with veggies. I threw some ketchup on that plate, a lot of ketchup because that's how I roll and ate that shit like I was shoveling down an omelet and home fries. I loved the vegan scramble and look forward to trying other stuff from the vegan portion of the menu when I come back again. Definitely visit the landmark and if you happen to be served by my friend who doesn't want her named to be shared tip her well. Quintessential diner. Staff is accommodating and service is quick. I ordered one of the daily specials which was stuffed peppers with a side of soup or salad. I opted for the chicken noodle soup. Food was homey. Simple flavors that should agree with anyone one. They had three beers on draft (all macros). Diner has two levels and the upper level is open in the middle so you can look to the lower level similar to a mezzanine. read more

The food here is fine. If the review were based on food alone it would be a 3/3.5. It tastes like diner food, but it is mid at best. This would be fine if the menu weren't outrageously overpriced. This diner charges prices where you'd expect a more premium and tasty experience, and serves food that is often only okay. The service could be far better. Especially at the front, I've never had a pleasant encounter with any of the men behind the counter. Landmark diner is well known in the area, but they have been riding on that fame ever since they remodeled. Some suggestions? Stop overcharging your customers for sub par food, provide a product that stands out, and tell your male staffers to say hello instead of grunting at a mom and her kids. The food was so fresh. It's the little things like how fresh and crisp the lettuce was in my delicious turkey wrap, and truly the best pancakes I've had in years. A lot of diners have gone down in quality but this place has kept it up. Definitely coming back. read more

Today I tried the Tuesday special, lentil soup and Hungarian Goulash. The soup was nothing special, but the goulash was delicious... exceptionally soft, fat free, large cubes of beef in a matching gravy on top of hot fresh noodles. Impressive. Yesterday it was brunch... whole wheat banana pancakes with sugar-free syrup. Excellent. Thick slices of melted banana in dark, tasty wheat. I've been visiting St. Francis Hospital, just a few blocks down the road and, to me, the Landmark is a way better choice than hospital cafeteria food. Very disappointing - in years past this diner was a notch above the rest, but no more. Would never go back. My son & I met up there for lunch and were asked to wait until the rest of my family arrived before we could be seated (the place was far from busy yet & they have 2 stories! I don't think they have the staff to open upstairs anymore). Once seated, my husband didn't plan on ordering food - he just came to see our son who happened to be in the area for this impromptu gathering & the waiter told my husband that he HAD to order something & could not sit with us without ordering at least something minimal - he ordered a tea. RIDICULOUS! Were they going to throw us out if he didn't want anything?? My small "greek" salad was a plate of stale iceberg lettuce with feta sprinkled on it - maybe 5 tiny cherry tomatoes & 4 olives. That's it! No cukes/peppers/grape leaves or anything of substance - I paid over $10 for half a head of lettuce - I refused to double the price by adding a single chicken breast. Prices have gotten outrageous at most restaurants on LI, and Roslyn is up there in the expense category for LI, but this was nowhere near worth the expense! Felt swindled...drive 5-10 min further into Port Washington for MUCH better choices. read more

This diner made such a great sunnyside up because they listened to my needs and preferred a well-done bottom. Tada! It happened! They even decorated my eggs to look sideways. Wow! My eggs had two eyes looking to the left! Isn't that awesome or what? You can't make this stuff up. Hubby also ordered some pancakes to try. It wasn't bad, but it's not the best we've ever had. We saved some pancakes for the next day. The place is quite spacious, suitable to accommodate people who like the extra space. Not the friendliest place. Between the front (the cold greetings) and the waiter... it's not the cozy diner you want. Between Louie's on Plandome and Landmark, Louie's is the place to go. Too bad they close much earlier. Love the people in Louie's. They are the feeling of 'home'. read more

If you're interested in leaving a restaurant and feeling like you've been nickel-and-dimed for absolutely everything, this is the place for you! If you order a grilled chicken wrap, which is on the menu, don't worry because when the bill comes you'll be charged an extra $1.80 for the "tortilla". If you ask your server if the sandwiches come with fries, and they say yes, don't worry because when the bill comes you'll be charged an extra $3.50 per sandwich per person for "FF". If you order pancakes or french toast, and expect it to come with syrup, don't worry because it'll be so watery it'll run off the pancakes before it even gets to your mouth. If you're going to charge significantly more than any other diner on Long Island, at least make your quality worth it. read more

I've been dining here for many years. Finally had enough. Had an issue with my meal and after the waiter could have handled it with ease, I asked to speak to the manager. She is the older lady with dirty blonde hair that's always by the counter. She was condescending, rude and had zero people skills with a nasty attitude. I tried to be polite and respectful only to be immediately responded to in a condescending manner. Not acceptable to a paying customer who's trying to be as respectful as possible. I've noticed this diner has gone downhill for a while but put up with it. I don't know about you but there's plenty of nice diners close by with much better service, definitely better food and nicer portions. Also, I the prices have gone up and while I understand that happens in business, at lease provide reasonable portions along with the increase. Let's just say the more I've ordered off that menu, some dishes are ok while many others are insulting to put in front of a customer. Nasty attitudes, inflated prices and embarrassing portions is more than enough a reason to go elsewhere. read more

Great diner with great diner food. The menu is as varied as you'd expect from a traditional Long Island Diner. Our party of 7 was seated right away and everyone loved the food. My only disappointment was with the fried calamari appetizer - not good. But the main course made up for it. The Jack Daniels burger was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. I came here for dinner and after several minutes finally greeted by the waitress. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to eat. I asked her to give me a couple other minutes while I was on the phone with my daughter and told my daughter loudly that I was hanging up the phone so I could order my food so while she was listening, she came over to take my order. The food was OK. Nothing spectacular or onion rings were definitely overdone and too hard to actually eat, which was pretty sad because I love onion rings, but waitress never came back over to check and see how I was doing or if the food was OK. I guess you had to be someone that they knew that all of the waitresses seem to flock to and have a conversation with while I guess the customers were being ignored And ass bus boy to actually bring me a box for the remainder of the Burke so I can take it home with me ask the cashier for my check since I didn't see my waitress since ordering my food so extremely poor service. Let me start by saying if it was possible to leave this place 0 star, I 100% would. I came here on a Monday morning for a private breakfast that I booked for 50 people upstairs at the Landmark Diner. The manager Sandy assured me multiple times that everything will be taken care, and not to worry, we would love to have your group, AKA rob us blind. My first mistake was not having this in writing, I actually wish we had a contract in place so I can actually prove to Sandy that she lied to me over the phone. You can only imagine my shock when I showed up with my family of 50 people, only to find out that what we agreed to on the phone was not what we were going to get in the diner. The only ounce of truth Sandy mention was that we would be on the 2nd floor of the diner. The only reason it was a "private area" was because no one was in this dump at 10:00am on a Monday morning. The reservation was supposed to be that Landmark Diner would charge me $20 per person plus 20% gratuity and tax for a buffet of eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, pancakes and waffle. Sounds like a great price right? Well when we arrived at 10am and there is no breakfast buffet in sight. I asked the waiter when and where the buffet will be set up, and he looked at me confused saying let me speak to the manager. In comes Sandy and she said there is no buffet, according to her "we never agreed on a buffet" I looked at her and said are you serious right now? So what are you charging me $20++ for? She said for one of the three choices: she wanted all the guests to choose between: an order of pancakes, or waffles, or 2 eggs any style with breakfast meat and toast. I said to her, with all due respect, in which world are pancakes $26 when you factor in gratuity and tax? Pancakes at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California aren't even that much. She said well those are our prices here. I was screwed, there was no way I could pick up and make 50 of my guests get up and go somewhere else for breakfast. Sandy did not seem to care, her attitude just kept getting worse and worse as I tried to reason with her. I tried to explain to her that what she did is wrong and she kept saying if you don't like it, you can leave. Trust me if I could have left I would have saved myself the embarrassment, inconveniencing my family and not given this place a penny of my hard earned money. Call it a misunderstanding but if I knew this was going to be the price I would have never came here. I thought that was going to be the last of the problem, that we would finally just get our breakfast, but of course to further kick me while I am down, Sandy decided to only give us 1 waiter for 50 people. The poor guy was running like a chicken with his head cut off. Sandy not caring for her staff, basically threw him to a pack of wolves, while she just went back downstairs and hung out by the entrance. If she was even remotely close to being a good manager, she would either send another waiter or two to help him, or she would help him herself. Now its around 10:45am, I had four people leave because it was taking way too long to be served. No one has had their order taken, this poor waiter was asking people what they wanted, then he would have to run to the kitchen and put it in. Finally, I found Sandy again and I said how could you just send 1 waiter up for 50 people, she said a second waiter will be right up. It was not until 11:25am until food started coming out, all everyone wanted to do is just wanted to get the hell out of there. Sandy of course was no where to be seen upstairs to make sure everything was ok. I went down to the hostess stand wanting to pay just so I can get out of this nightmare. At this point, I am mentally drained, she ends up charging me for 60 people when it actuality we were only 50, I barely ate, but I was in no mood to go back in forth with her. Maybe the Landmark Diner can use the extra $250 they made off of me to clean their upstairs area because it was absolutely flithy. Or here is a better idea, take the $250 and send Sandy to a class on hospitality and customer service. She could a tune up in how to treat people. I hope other people see this review and think twice about hosting a larger gathering a the Landmark Diner. read more

I've read many reviews complaining about the service. I've had no issues with the service. Our server came to us quickly even though the place was packed. The food was decent, not fantastic, not terrible. The coffee was (synonymous to donkey). This was enough to lower a star. It just tasted like stale coffee water where the ground were reused. It reminded me of cardboard (msg me if you want to know why I know what liquid cardboard tastes like). I also took off another because of them ambiance. It's just really dark in there. It was a bit depressing eating in that dark dining hall despite how many people and chatty everyone was. I would come again but wouldn't go out of my way. read more

Been here several times over the years. Pretty standard dinner, not great, but okay. Went there yesterday and definitely felt a bit uncomfortable with their covid precautions or the lack thereof. They had plastic barriers between booths but packed people in each booth without alternating the booths to space out the customers. In the center they had a huge party come in and they were too close for comfort. Also their billing is incredibly confusing, the price listed for the plain and cheese omelette doesn't match the menu, and then the toppings and their prices are not listed anywhere at all so breaking up the bill between my friends, I ended up with the extra $7 that was in the subtotal price but not listed on the bill it's self. Adding up the bill, my total is $50.55 but the subtotal that is listed is $57.50. No explanation for the extra $7 but of course my friends looked at their items listed and then added tax and tip, leaving me with the remaining balance. I didn't even understand that the extra $7 was from additional toppings until I just called and spoke with a very annoyed manager that just curtly told me it's from toppings added to the omelette and that they don't list them on the bill before promptly hanging up. It could've been explained better instead of treating me like an imbecile for confusion that their own billing creates. read more

Overall, wasn't terrible but wasn't great either. This established isn't going to stay a "Landmark Diner" if they can't keep up with the times. This place is just plain gorgeous, like an elegant restaurant. The inside and the exterior are almost too luxurious to be considered a diner. But the menu is voluminous, brimming with so many options. It seems like the chef is trying to concoct many newfangled dishes. Just too many burgers, sandwiches, egg dishes and salads to choose from. Even the side dish list is a long read. Greek and Asian favorites included of course. I finally settled on a Carolina burger deluxe which was impressively delivered with a half slab of bacon and barbecue sauce, and well done fries (I didn't even ask, they must have read my mind). We got to the diner about 9 pm. The hostess just told us to sit anywhere and never even brought us menus. After awhile, the waitress finally came over and saw that we didn't have any menus. She finally brought us some. We felt bad for her, because she was having difficulty walking. She finally took our orders. When the food came, my friend had asked for the salad dressing on the side. They brought the salad, but no dressing. I had to get up and find the waitress to get the dressing. The food was great, but not the service. I had been there before and didn't have any issues. Ugh I struggle to give them one or two stars. I love The interior! Probably one of the prettiest diner I've ever been. The service was good. I read the negative reviews and was a little weary. However, I am so glad I did not get persuaded to not go by them. I had the eggs Benedict. They were cooked perfectly, with delicious hollandaise sauce, juicy Canadian bacon, and a crispy, but fresh English muffin. The hashbrowns were also crispy, tasty, and delicious. My mother had the bananas Forster. The French toast was fluffy and tasty, and the bananas were sweet with the delicious Forster sauce. The coffee was hot and fresh. Ordered 2 eggs scrambled that comes with home fries and toast. The eggs were scrambled but in small little pieces. It's like they chopped it up. Almost sent it back but decided not to. Home fries were extremely small portion and super thin, also flavorless. Changed out toast for a toasted English muffin. This was an upcharge of $2.50 and I had to put the butter on. English muffin wasn't hot by the time it got to the table so the butter wouldn't melt into the nooks and crannies. I was never asked if I wanted a refill on my coffee. Totally overrated diner. This review is based solely on the breakfast I had from here whereas a fellow Yelper had recommended trying their lunch/ dinner option and stated everything was delicious. For our family Sunday breakfast, I didn't want to go to our local diner so we decided to try this diner out in Roslyn, which is located about 15 minutes away from our current neighborhood. We were very surprised because there was a humongous parking lot in the back and also a 2nd level to the diner but it seemed to be closed during breakfast hours. There was more than enough seating to accommodate us right after we arrived at 9:30 am. Service was good with our waitress always being around to fulfill our needs. I ordered the Western omelette served with home fries & toast and an iced coffee, my husband got a BEC sandwich and my kiddos got a spaghetti and mac & cheese kid's meal. Both meal came with a choice of dessert and my kids picked a vanilla and strawberry ice cream with whipped cream on top. Everything came out fairly quick, within 10 minutes or so. The kiddos were very happy and thoroughly enjoyed their meal, what kid wouldn't? Pasta and ice cream for breakfast. However, the rest of our food was just ok. Not gonna lie, the Western omelette and home fries from my local diner tasted better but the iced coffee was good though. The toast wasn't toasted all the way and the omelette was overcooked and bland. Pricing was also in line with all the diners we've ever been to so it wasn't a surprise. We may be back again to try other things on the menu other than the breakfast items. read more

I'm kind of surprised this place only gets 3 stars. Granted, the parking here is more complicated than at the average diner, but everything else was pretty damned fine. The place has a nice, classy appearance for a diner, the service is fine and our waitress was smiling... the Tuna Melt that I ordered came out in timely fashion, it was nicely done (and I liked the cole slaw & pickle), I hardly waited for the check, and the waitress charged our cards (instead of us having to wait on a line to pay at a cash register). We came here the other day and found this place a decent find. Pros: + Poached Athenian Eggs - a great take on Shashuka for sure! Absolutely delicious and a delicate blend of everything! + Decent service + Plenty of parking spots + Well decorated - it simply does not have the diner feel.
