I had two bikes tuned here in the last two weeks. My experiences are mixed, it seems like if you bring in a more expensive bike they do a very nice tune, everything cleaned, lubed, adjusted and wiped down as expected. If the bike you bring in is lower value, sure, they adjust the gears, make sure the brakes work etc but they left the chain dirty, the front brake worked fine but was set at it's maximum adjustment point on the adjustment barrel, nothing was wiped down or cleaned. It was a much different experiance. The tune cost the same between the two bikes, the service provided shouldn't be dictated by how taken the tech was with the particular bike. read more

Well, I was forced to return here to drop my bike off to be shipped to Ironman Wisconsin through Tribike Transport. Good, I thought, maybe they'll make it back into my good graces. Nope. Sure, I dropped my bike off an hour before the deadline...my fault. I asked if they could do a quick look over if they have time before it's picked up, and I got a straight up "No, we can't". Oookkaaaaay. And then, I got no "Good luck", even though it was obvious I was dropping it off to go to Wisconsin for an IRONMAN! Geez....it's kinda a big deal, ya know? Don't they have a triathlon team? Then, when I picked it up, I didn't even get a "How did your race go?". Nothing. I mean, can't a girl brag a little? That was your last chance Landis. ter they worked on the bike for about a WEEK, they told me they needed to order a part to bleed the brakes. After a second week they told me that the front brakes needed to be replaced which was fine since I know the bike was older and said they would give me a deal on them since it took so long. When I picked up the bike I realized that my back brakes were worse than they were when I brought the bike in. They said they were not aware that they needed to work on the brake brake then told me I needed to have the back brake replaced also since they were not able to bleed them. When it came time to pay ($170 total) I was charged for the tune up and additional the bleeding of the brakes which I was told before it was included. All they said they could do was apologize for someone misinforming me of their service but they wouldn't remove the charge since it's a separate service. I'm a small business owner, this nickel and dime customers is not good business practice. I will not be returning and would not recommend their services to anyone. Avoid this company and go someplace else to have your bike serviced. read more

I have been to this Landis a few times over the last 10 years or so and it's a pretty good place to get some help and they have a good selection of brands to choose from. Staff was help full helping me pick out my new bike, but I kind of already knew what I wanted from what I saw on the Internet. I ordered my bike, they said should be on Wed. so I called on Thurs. morning and they said "yeah we got it but we need to put it together, call you when it's done." ---FYI it takes about 15 minute to put a bike together. So I went on Fri. morning (they didn't call) and they had it almost done and took about 10 min to finish. Kinda made me mad they were so blase about it. read more

I don't know what happened with Matt but they were great to my friend. he ended up getting a Specialized hybrid for the purpose of commuting. Their selection is a little small but they carry a few good brands (Trek and Specialized) as well as a good selection of tools and maps/books. The sales people were very nice and put his bike together on the spot real quick. They are a good small business and are a little more accessible to the aspiring bicyclist than the big boys and junk shops. read more

I had an appointment with Ron for a bike fitting. I have been experiencing some numbness in my hand when riding and my doctor suggested I get my bike professionally fitted. Ron was very professional and answered all my (10 million) questions. He explained to me how my handlebars were way too big and my body was stretched too much while riding. He helped me put on different pedals, a new saddle, and suggested insoles for my shoes. He never pressured me to buy anything extra, just explained how different thing may be preventative for injury, or just make me more comfortable. I have always found the folks at Landis to be very helpful. I took a fall a few days ago and messed up the front brakes. Something was broke and I had no clue what to do. I have been in this shop several times and always with such great service. Today I bought a new bike and again the service was awesome. Very knowledgeable and honest. Salesman didn't try to upsell me. When I came to pick up the bike, the young men that helped me was absolutely friendly and great to deal with. There was a shifting issue and the claimed to have fixed it each time I brought it in and said it still was not working. I then took it here and they had it diagnosed and fixed. TRIATHLETES BEWARE - This place was not helpful and rude when we called on the phone. We are coming in for iron man 70.3 Tempe and had an issue with one of our bikes and needed to get it fixed before the race in two days. The guy who answered the phone shoved us off saying they had no availability til next week and when we asked if he could recommend another bike shop he just told us to call around and then hung up. We've been on the road for two days now and could use any kind of help or advice we could've got. They don't care about their customers so I definitely wouldn't trust them with your bike. New to Tempe, I needed some help with brake parts for my old Cannondale Scalpel. A friend from work recommended Landis and i was NOT disappointed. When i entered the shop, there were mechanics working feverishly repairing bikes, salespersons helping customers with new bikes, and lots of customers. I stopped in unannounced on a SAT afternoon, and they immediately fit my bike in for a quick minor brake caliper install and tune. I ran a few errands and returned 45 minutes later. My bike was tuned better than expected and they only charged me a nominal fee- Now, Tomorrow I can go take a ride as my bike is back on the road.! These guys are amazing! I brought my poor, slightly disabled bike to see what was going to need to be done to be able to get back in the saddle again. I already had a frame of reference of what was needed, as I had previously visited another bike shop (Bike Barn...do not go there), but was hoping that instead of getting gouged, the dudes at Landis would be able to fix up my ride...the guy I worked with (I feel bad, because I can't remember his name) gently took my bike and gave it a once over...he came to the conclusion that all I needed was a new chain, and new front brake (which I knew); he said they could fix the gear cassette (as opposed to replacing it, which is what BB wanted to do); no tune up needed (which BB automatically added for another $70). The nice Landis dude gave me the estimate, and it was less than half of what the money-hungry peeps at BB we're going to charge...a week later, I picked up my newly repaired bike, and ended up paying even less than the estimate! These guys are awesome. I did a rebuild on my brake master cylinder's but didn't have the tool to bleed it. I took my bike in Friday at lunchtime and they got me all set up by the end of the day and they even sold me the tool that I needed so I can do it myself from now on. This place is amazing. First, let's start with the obvious. This isn't a big box store, so don't expect big box prices, nor a $100 bike for you or your kids. This is a place to get serious bikes for all types who want high quality equipment and stellar customer service. There are some reviewers who haven't had a good experience but I'm not sure how that could be. Here's my story. I went on last Friday night and met with Jim, the manager around 5pm. I told him what I wanted as a novice cyclist with my first bike. (I knew nothing going in, trust me.) We discussed how and where I wanted to ride and he agreed based on my wants a hybrid would be appropriate. Jim took plenty of time to discuss the differences in the bikes, how they worked, and 100 other questions I had, and some I didn't. He patiently helped me out in the parking lot while I test drove a couple of bikes, and nearly wiped out on one with my hard braking. Over the course of the next 2 hours and 40 minutes, we covered EVERYTHING. He helped with accessories I needed, U-locks, car carrier, helmets, etc. After all that, he proceeded to do the same with my almost 14 year old son by fitting him out right as well. He was patient enough to address every need, even though the store closed at 7pm and we didn't leave until almost 7:40pm!! We noticed at the last minute one of the bikes was missing the reflectors, so he quickly ran back in and grabbed the ones we needed and installed, after he took the time to install my bike rack I just purchased on the my car, and help mount the bikes. Awesome. I came back in on Sunday and spent an hour with Jory. We discussed options for my wife's new bike, as well as many additional questions about my own new bike, shifting, etc. We covered flat repairs, and other things not discussed the prior night. Even though we didn't make a purchase, they still spent quality time with us knowing we would be back again for sure. I just love the time, attention, and sincerity we received from Jim and Jory and will highly recommend them to all. It's great to find knowledgeable people who care so much - something you would NEVER get at a big box. Definitely worth the extra money. Thanks so much Landis for putting us on the road! read more
