Best Bike Shop in the area.
    Tim M.

The staff are all avid cyclists. Tom, Eli, Walter and Ben all do great work and are active in the cycling community. The turnaround time is always super reasonable I rarely have to leave my bike overnight for a repair or maintenance. The selection of parts, accessories and bicycles is very impressive considering the size of the store. They have some very unique and impressive accessories one of my favorites was the Jansport Burrito Roll pencil case used for bike repair kit from several years back. The also offer membership for commuters offering a secure place to store your bike with keycard access 20 hours a day, 7 days a week to use showers, lockers, and towels. Membership also includes access to a basic self-service bike repair area for after-hours maintenance. 24-hour video surveillance and on-site security staff keep the peace. This is ideal since they are located at the Tempe Transit Center which has a light rail stop and bus access. They carry my favorite flat pedals "MSW Thump". They also offer an impressive list of bike rentals at reasonable rates.

Bought a bike and tires were replaced the same day. Guy checked not only the tires but the wheel.

Cannot say enough wonderful things about Tom and the rest of the team at Bicycle Cellar. We just moved to Tempe and needed to get a flat tire fixed on my wife's cruiser. Tom explained that the thorns from the plants out here can wreck havoc on bicycle tires. He replaced the tube within minutes and then recommended that we add this solution to the tires to prevent it from happening again. The fix was very affordable, so we brought in all of our bikes and we have had no more issues since. We have also brought in our bikes and Trikkes for maintenance and have been pleased with their detailed explanations, their work and their pricing. So much so that we ended up buying three brand new hybrid bikes based on their recommendations. We appreciated their ability to text and provide almost instantaneous responses, sometime even after hours. Their knowledge and helpfulness are some of the best that we have ever experienced. We already have referred others to their place of business and hope that this review will steer more people towards this quality business. Thanks Bicycle Cellar for becoming such a trusted business for our family and all of our cycling needs.

I'm writing my review as an out-of-towner. I'm at ASU for a three week science teacher class, and contemplated bringing my bike on the airplane (Southwest is very bike friendly). In the end I decided to try to live without my bike. Two days after I got to Tempe I stumbled on the Bicycle Cellar, and discovered I could rent a bike there. They were very helpful, including providing a helmet and lock (and loaning me a three-way allen wrench so I could make adjustments to the fit). The bike even came with a trunk bag that I keep the lock and other bits in. After a week I got a flat and brought it in and they fixed the flat quickly. Then I asked if I could borrow a pump in case the flat happened when I wasn't near them, and they happily loaned me one (I did pay for a patch kit, figuring I can always use more patches at when I get home). I had also broken the front fender (a stick got jammed in it when I was on a gravel road ride), and they didn't hassle me about it. When I first arrived at the Bicycle Cellar, I had been contemplating purchasing a cheap bike on Craigslist and selling or donating it when I left. While the bike I rented for 19 days cost me more than it would have to buy a one, I got a much better bike and the freedom it has provided me is priceless! I'd be much happier to have my own bicycle, but the Bicycle Cellar gets me almost there. Thanks, Bicycle Cellar! PS. They also sell used bikes, repair bikes, sell lots of small add-ons for your bike, as well as nibblies and water supplements (electrolytes, etc.). They also are open to members for 4am-midnight for bicycle parking with lockers and showers (you are issued a membership "smart card" that lets you in when they are otherwise closed). They're right next to the light rail, so you can ride to the Cellar, take a quick shower, and jump on the light rail to work. How cool is that???

The Bicycle Cellar rocks. Friendly staff and they know their stuff! I purchased my bike here last year and have been here several times prior to that for service on other bikes that my kids and I ride. They have ALWAYS been helpful and fair. They also offer bike rentals and bike storage and have shower facilities for bicycle commuters. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone who rides.

What started out as a Google search to rent a quality and fun mountain bike, at an affordable /fair price, lead us to Scottsdale Bike Company. Quick call on the drive from California confirmed they had what we needed. Upon arrival they noted we were stacking the bikes in the back of our suv, and one of the guys offered his personal hitch rack to ease our load and set it up for us. After a fun hour at the Mesa bike park, we had my gfs son's personal bike break. After fiddling and realizing the severity we quickly ran back to SBC just before closing. The guys got right to work without much more than a question to see if they could get us back on the road before we left the shop. I rented a Large MTB and they offered to swap us out for a bike more fitting for the 12 year old. I said thanks, we'll take it. They then insisted I didn't miss out and sent us on our way with another bike rental. A beautiful amazing and quality full suspension MTB. They inspected each unit thoroughly. Noting one had some damage, and despite them being able to send us with it, they did not. They ensured they sent us on the trails with a solid well looked after unit. As we came back to return the next day, and pick up the bike. They did everything they could to get us running, but it being a 10 year old model (They didn't have parts on hand) they offered to help but would take time to get parts, we're just in town for a short while. When I asked what we owed them for inspecting and trying to fix it, they declined our payment outside of the rentals. True gentleman, incredibly kind, generous with their time and resources. I'd pay every penny to them for parts, service, even a purchase. Whether visiting, or a local, take a minute to give them a chance to have your business! You won't regret it. As honest as they come.

Whether old and nearing obsolescence, I was trying to match what I had on my back tire and during my phone search yesterday I found that they had what I was looking for. Looking around their store I must say they had los of merchandise. The bad... seriously weighing the $10 fee for installing my new tire on the rim, I decided to let them do it. Now I certainly am no bicycle expert, just a person who likes to ride. One would expect the people who work in a bike store to be the experts. This tire is directional, as was the one that needed to be replaced. They didn't care. Perhaps it makes no difference which side the lever is on but to your anal, non-professional, you expect the lever to be on the same side it was on with the previous tire. One would expect that the serviceman would look at the old tire and then match up the new tire. This did not happen and now I basically wasted the $10 as I had to take the tire/rim apart and install it the way I think is correct. Details... to some it matters to some it doesn't. Attention to detail is something that matters to me. As a professional in a different field it means a lot. In the end I say... LANDIS, use them to buy if the price,is right but for service of a bicycle, go elsewhere. Go somewhere where details, no matter how small and perhaps insignificant actually matter.

While many may have standard experiences here, my recent dealings with Jessica, have involved gross negligence, unethical business practices, and a blatant disregard for their own contractual obligations. After three failed attempts to change a scooter tire--for which I was charged multiple labor fees (Over $110 with ABSOLUTELY NO RESULTS)--the shop's mismanagement resulted in: Structural Damage: An employee (Sloan) used a crowbar on the folding mechanism, causing a stress fracture (immediate) and over time it spread, completely severing the folding neck lock and also breaking the neck tension locking wrench making the scooter inoperable and no possibility of repair. **WATER DAMAGE AND FIRE***: The scooter was stored outdoors on municipal property during heavy rain (not even on theor property) This caused a short circuit, resulting in smoke, fire damage, and total electronic failure to where the scooter was not at all operable or salvagable. Ultimately a new one was purchased. Contractual Breach: When I requested the contractually mandated mediation to resolve these damages ($5,048 in total), Jessica Archer stated on record via a recorded statement, unbeknownst to her, but allowable under Arizona Law, she can be heard saying to me on recording that she would not honor the mediation clause because " she is going to do whatever she wants because it's her contract , and she's not going to mediation with me or going to honor her contract" Furthermore, my attempt to resolve this in person resulted in being intimidated and threatened with physical removal by staff (Jessica ordered Nicholas when i informed her she has a legal obligation to abide by it). I have served a formal demand letter as of January 22, 2026. Be aware that their service contracts contain "binding arbitration" clauses that they themselves may refuse to honor as such is the case with me, which then allows you to petition Superior Court to forcefully make them abide by mediation or have trial by judge or jury. Proceed with extreme caution! Upon dropping off , the demand letter and employ told me that jessica no longer works there. I informed him that reality and the Corporation Commission of Arizona says otherwise as Jessica and Randi are owners and principal agents....and of course this lie to avoid was recorded as well. If my demand to be compensated $5048.75 is not met by 01/29/2026, the certified letter goes out in the mail from Superior court that im moving forward with A Compel to stay or arbitrate which forces them to mediate or have trial by jury or judge. UPDATE: After receiving the demand letter pictured, they offered me a $90 refund to correct their actions listed in the letter. I didn't accept their offer. I'm In the process of filing a civil suit in North Mesa Justice court under the presiding judge Honorable Kyle Jones.
