Better than a glass slipper, Cinderella!

You, the reader, are the reason why I get up every morning. :D Just kidding. I get up for spin class! While my favorite spin studio does offer shoes to wear during class for free, after going to their anniversary spin ride where shoes were constantly being worn and used, I noticed the wet sweaty shoes were being passed around. Never have given it much thought before, it was then when I realized that I should probably buy my own pair of spin shoes. Enter Landis Cyclery, a loved local business since 1912! This place is older than my grandma! You can repair your bike here, do bike maintenance, and even do a "bike fitting." They sell all sorts of bikes, bike accessories, shoes, and fitness treats. Everything is organized. Need assistance? Their friendly staff is there for you. On my visit, I managed to snag some Shimano bike shoes during their Closeout Shoe Sale. I was stuck between a pair of Bontrager Femmes and some Shimano's so I asked a staff for his opinion. He was super knowledgeable, listened to my concerns, and gave me his recommendation for the Shimano's even though the Bontrager Femmes cost more money. I appreciated his honesty on not trying to up-sell a product. He even helped me put on the cleats for my shoes when I finished paying. Now that's service! I believe his name is Vaughn. I don't know why I go to spin class or what I'm training for but boy do I hope it never happens!

Salsa Timberjack 29er XT, converted to SS by the friendly staff at Landis.

Several team members at two different Landis locations went above and beyond to help me with my recent purchase. While on the hunt for a Salsa Timberjack SS 29er, the Landis team was unable to track one down and even made direct contact with Salsa to check availability. After confirming that there were no models available nationwide, Hank at the Warner location accommodated my specific desire for a single speed setup. Him and his team worked to source parts needed to covert one of their in stock XT models to SS for me, and set the bike up properly. They even discovered that Salsa had shipped the bike incorrectly with a non-Tubeless-ready rear tire and got it all sorted for me. Everyone at Landis really provided top-notch service and experience. I'm beyond satisfied with the outcome of my purchase and can't wait to stop-in at Landis in the future for my other bike needs!

Nice, zero protection for my derailleur or rear dropouts! Note the shredded cardboard from the derailleur and rear QR.

It's getting hard to find a bike shop in Scottsdale, AZ that will not gouge you on the cost of…read morelabor. Scottsdale Bike Co. is one of the last reputable shops standing in my beloved Town of 53 years. At other shops in Old Town, I feel the money getting sucked out of my pockets just walking in the door. Some of the smaller shops even think it's acceptable to talk down to me when I am asking about service. The Team at Scottsdale Bike Co. are my kind of people. They'll openly chat about what I can fix on my own and what I need them to handle for me. Their labor costs are the lowest I have found in Scottsdale, and I genuinely enjoy chatting for a few minutes with the service team when I have a chance to pop in to get some work done or see if they can find a part for me. If you're not getting your service and repairs done at Scottsdale Bike Co. you're throwing money away, and I can give you my Zelle if you want to throw your money away in my direction. Thank You Scottsdale Bike Co. for helping me keep my costs down as low as possible while I enjoy the thrill of the ride with my friends and family.

What started out as a Google search to rent a quality and fun mountain bike, at an affordable /fair price, lead us to Scottsdale Bike Company. Quick call on the drive from California confirmed they had what we needed. Upon arrival they noted we were stacking the bikes in the back of our suv, and one of the guys offered his personal hitch rack to ease our load and set it up for us. After a fun hour at the Mesa bike park, we had my gfs son's personal bike break. After fiddling and realizing the severity we quickly ran back to SBC just before closing. The guys got right to work without much more than a question to see if they could get us back on the road before we left the shop. I rented a Large MTB and they offered to swap us out for a bike more fitting for the 12 year old. I said thanks, we'll take it. They then insisted I didn't miss out and sent us on our way with another bike rental. A beautiful amazing and quality full suspension MTB. They inspected each unit thoroughly. Noting one had some damage, and despite them being able to send us with it, they did not. They ensured they sent us on the trails with a solid well looked after unit. As we came back to return the next day, and pick up the bike. They did everything they could to get us running, but it being a 10 year old model (They didn't have parts on hand) they offered to help but would take time to get parts, we're just in town for a short while. When I asked what we owed them for inspecting and trying to fix it, they declined our payment outside of the rentals. True gentleman, incredibly kind, generous with their time and resources. I'd pay every penny to them for parts, service, even a purchase. Whether visiting, or a local, take a minute to give them a chance to have your business! You won't regret it. As honest as they come.

Well this is actually a story of good and bad. The good is…read morethat they had the tire I was looking for. Whether old and nearing obsolescence, I was trying to match what I had on my back tire and during my phone search yesterday I found that they had what I was looking for. Looking around their store I must say they had los of merchandise. The bad... seriously weighing the $10 fee for installing my new tire on the rim, I decided to let them do it. Now I certainly am no bicycle expert, just a person who likes to ride. One would expect the people who work in a bike store to be the experts. This tire is directional, as was the one that needed to be replaced. They didn't care. Perhaps it makes no difference which side the lever is on but to your anal, non-professional, you expect the lever to be on the same side it was on with the previous tire. One would expect that the serviceman would look at the old tire and then match up the new tire. This did not happen and now I basically wasted the $10 as I had to take the tire/rim apart and install it the way I think is correct. Details... to some it matters to some it doesn't. Attention to detail is something that matters to me. As a professional in a different field it means a lot. In the end I say... LANDIS, use them to buy if the price,is right but for service of a bicycle, go elsewhere. Go somewhere where details, no matter how small and perhaps insignificant actually matter.
