    Chocolate cake

By far the best chocolate cake in this world and lives up to its title! I went to this little gem three times and almost packed cake to fly back to the US. Service is fast and friendly! They were always out of hot chocolate though. This is a cute date spot with comfy couches and chairs to sit on. It's a little dark but definitely a chic vibe. I highly recommend since you'll never look another chocolate cake again!

Went here because of a co-worker's recommendation. The only food item sold at this cafe is their signature chocolate cake slices. They do however offer various hot and cold beverages. Interior is homey with couches, dim lights, flowers and paintings. We each ordered a slice of their famous chocolate cake, and it was the best I've ever had! The cake portion was moist and melted in your mouth. The mousse portion was so smooth and creamy. The slices were topped with bittersweet dark cocoa powder, which balanced out the sweetness from the rest of the dessert. So sad they don't have this in the US, also sad I couldn't transport this back home.

Chocolate cake. The holes and wax drippings are from the candles lol

We didn't dine in but the inside was very nice with modern decor. They have the most delicious, dense, and decadent chocolate cake. It was so rich, one slice is more than enough. We bought a whole cake for a friend's birthday. Service was quick, once we ordered it we got the cake immediately. The price was a bit high but it was so worth it!!

We heard that Landeau has the best chocolate cake in the world, and since we were staying in a hotel right next door, we knew we had to try it. The space is intimate and cozy, but we came around 1:00 pm and we were able to fine a table easily. The chocolate cake is the only food option on the menu, along with coffee and drink options. The chocolate cake was more of a mousse texture but it was definitely rich, chocolaty, and decadent. We loved it so much that we got a piece to go. But, if you don't like the soft mousse texture, this may not be your type of cake.

My friend recommended me to try chocolate cake when I was in Lisbon and said Landeau had one of the best ones. We stopped by for a mid afternoon snack break after walking around Lisbon and entered a nice little cozy cafe with plenty of seating. We ordered our slices of chocolate cake at the counter and it really lives up to its hype. The cake was soft and light but full of flavor and with the right amount of sweetness. It was the perfect snack to pair with an afternoon coffee. I would totally recommend anyone visiting Lisbon to stop by!

This is some omg chocolate cake, so I highly highly suggest you get 2 slices if you're in the area. We just so happened to be waiting for a reservation across the street when I noticed the sign outside read something to the effect of "devilishly good chocolate cake". Since I was on vacation, I knew I'd regret not putting that claim to the test. Spoiler alert, it did not let me down. It was shaped more like a shallower cheesecake slice, but It was so rich and creamy, with a cocoa like powder on top. They say cake, but I wouldn't think of it as a light and fluffy American style cake, this was more like a flourless cake if you ask me. What I lack in confidence in describing this cake's texture, I can more than make up for it when describing the taste-it was ridiculously good. The two associates working, one may have been the manager or owner, were so friendly and welcoming. We sat and chatted with them for some time as they were complete strangers to Yelp. The cake slice was pretty inexpensive, and although not very large, the flavor was perfect. Enjoy. Try By The Wine across the street-you will not regret it. Enjoy! Thanks Landeau!

What is there to say about this cool dessert spot? The atmosphere is modern, the service was great, and the only real options for food are a piece of delicious chocolate cake. There is something nice about a place serving one item (and drinks) and it being so good that you want to come back for more. The cake is decadent and rich, almost like a torte but more cake like. I'd recommend coming here as a pre dinner snack or for dessert. The cake itself isn't too filling although you get a pretty decent sized piece. Im glad we tried it and would recommend everyone try a slice for themselves!

This place is soooooo adorable!!!! Very chill atmosphere. Ordered the famous chocolate cake. Was kinda leery since I saw a recommendation flood of it on Instagram. I have zero regrets ordering the slice. Honestly, it was the highlight of my visit to Portugal. Very rich, sweet and smooth. It was heaven in my mouth. You will have zero regrets ordering it!!!!!

Mon Dieu! The chocolate cake (4,10 euros) is delicious and luxurious. So delicious I went twice because I couldn't resist it. The layers are complex and together make for an out of this world experience for a chocolate lover. If my schedule would have allowed it, I would have visited a third time. I also tried their hot chocolate (with milk). It was extremely chocolatey in the best way, but I recommend you pace yourself for balance--do the chocolate cake and come back for the hot chocolate at another time. I did "carry away" both times (they charge a small fee for the compostable containers) because I wanted to have the cake in the comfort of my bed and after dinner. Ahhhh, the life! However, the cafe space is very inviting and moody, 100% cozy vibes. Do yourself a favor and get your own slice of cake! This is not something I ever want to share. Can't wait to go back to Landeau when I am in Lisbon again.

I heard about this place from a friend and saw that the chocolate cake was popular! It was decadent and delicious and rich with chocolate. The chocolate mousse layer with the cocoa powder on top pairs well together. The service is good and fast and there are many seats to enjoy the chocolate confections.

Amazing chocolate cake. Not even exaggerating, the best chocolate cake I've ever tasted. My only regret is that I tried this cake in my literal last hours in Lisbon. The store is minimal-chic in the best way. Cannot wait to visit Lisbon again and have this heavenly cake every day.

I only have one regret from my trip to Lisbon and it's not trying their chocolate cake. We were walking by this place and I saw the word "chocolate" outside and decided I need to go in. I thought it was a store selling chocolate. I wish I had checked their Yelp page so I would have known that they're famous for chocolate cake. We ordered the mocha and really liked it. I got a glimpse of someone eating chocolate cake, I studied their faces and didn't see major excitement so I thought okay, I don't need to try the cake. BIG MISTAKE. Now I am haunted forever thinking I passed on this chocolate cake. The place is really cool and has unique architecture including awesome ceiling. I loved their decor which was very cozy and the inviting. If I come back to Lisbon this will be my first stop.

I'm typically not a huge chocolate cake fan because I am usually underwhelmed by the chocolate taste however they are doing it right here!! It is a rich chocolate cake that is somehow not too sweet but also not bitter. Thr bottom layer is a denser cake layer but the top is a velvety mouse layer. Absolutely delicious combination, one slice is enough to share because of how decadent it is!

    So delicious!

What makes it special is watching the pastries being handmade right in front of you, which adds a level of freshness and craftsmanship that you can actually taste. The service was super fast and friendly. The pastel de nata came out perfectly, with that delicate flaky crust and warm custard that just hits differently when you know it was made moments ago. The espresso was equally impressive, rich and smooth, and the two together make for a simple but near perfect combination. The crust was super flaky and the tart was nice and warm out of the oven, but I didn't like the flavor of the custard. I did forget to add cinnamon to the top, but I don't think it would have helped me personally. The woman who stood next to me at the counter had a nearly orgasmic experience next to me, so it's obvious that my taste buds are apparently off. I loved the patience of the server, who got confused when I told her I wanted to eat in but wanted to take water to go. Note to self...Portuguese folks want to have their "to go" as "takeaway." What I also didn't know was that there was no place to sit!! I scooted down the counter just like all the other folks to watch the bakers prep the next gozillion pastries for the day. That was interesting. Then, I didn't know how to bus my dishes. I just left them on the counter like all the other folks and went away. I wouldn't skip going because of my personal taste buds, though. Enjoy it for yourself and let me know if you have a different opinion than I did!

I had been here about fifteen years ago on a solo trip when I waited in an endless queue for a takeout order. That same line still existed a couple of weeks ago when Jamie W and I visited on my return to Lisbon. This time, we decided to try the dine-in option which I wasn't even aware of until I saw a YouTube video from a travel vlogger who recommended it. Sure enough, the line was a lot shorter and moved quite a bit faster. It turned out they serve up to 400 people in an expansive dining room. The menu goes beyond the pastels and offers croquettes, salt cod fritters, various sandwiches, and other pastries. Of course we ordered the 1,6€ Pasteis de Belem. Four of them (Photo 6). Based on a secret recipe dating back to 1837, they compare favorably to the multitude of competitors, even Manteigaria, whose shops appear almost everywhere in Lisbon. The custard filling is creamy but not excessive and it's not overly sweetened. The standout is the thick and flaky crust, tender with a touch of salt. The 2€ Iced Coffees with Milk was a nice complement. Since we didn't have time to get lunch while sauntering through Belem, we decided to take advantage of their cafe menu and each ordered the 3,9€ Tuna and Mayo with Boiled Egg and Lettuce on Mixed Wheat Toast (Photo 9). I know it sounds simple, but it satisfied much like the kombini sandos in Tokyo. Totally worthy of my 8,000 milestone.
