I got a pack of four cupcakes and it was about $11 so it's a bit pricey but the cupcakes are really good and the cashier was very nice ! I tried the pineapple, chocolate ganache, and smores cupcakes ! The pineapple cupcake was very moist and sweet but I didn't get much pineapple flavor so that was disappointing even though that is the name of the cupcake, the cake part was just a little sour. The smores cupcake was moist as well and very sweet but did not taste like smores , it just tasted like a regular chocolate cupcake with a hint of graham cracker... no marshmallow flavor at all! But I might go there again to try other flavors. read more

I ordered a 4" cake to be delivered to my daughter and it was delivered to her lop-sided. The manger insisted that it did not go out like that, and blamed the delivery service. You can see from the pic that the cake layers and filling are uneven and the cake did not shift on the board. Very disappointed! Looks like a little kid assembled the cake. I paid $46. I LOVE LANCASTER CUPCAKE!!! Owned by a couple, Emily and Jeff, this cupcake business has been around since '11. They were also on 'Cupcake Wars,' so I thought that was pretty cool! :D The variety of flavors that they have are pretty impressive, such as Peanut Butter Oreo Cheesecake, Tiramisu, S'Mores, Toffee Crunch, Mud Pie, Cannoli, Toasted Coconut Caramel Fudge, etc. (be sure to check out their site, as they have special monthly features and flavors!). I ordered a 4-pack and chose: Peanut Butter Fudge, Dutch Apple Streusel, Pumpkin Cheesecake, and Sweet Potato Pie. Each of the cupcakes were super delicious and super moist! I was surprised that the cupcakes were heavy, but that's even better as I love dense-er type of cupcakes. Each one tasted exactly what they were named as, which was awesome! The Peanut Butter Fudge was fudge-y brownie like, and had a nice creamy peanut butter taste to it; it was the perfect amount of sweetness and indulgence! The Dutch Apple Streusel was like eating a piece of homemade apple pie! The Pumpkin Cheesecake was thick, creamy, and got you in the holiday/fall spirit! And, my favorite one of them all, the Sweet Potato Pie, was like biting into a lovely slice of sweet potato pie (the toppings of the mini marshmallows was just adorable!). I was visiting in Lancaster and we decided to go eat at on orange a few blocks away and we were just walking around when my sweet tooth hit reallyyyyy badddd. And I think the cupcake tooth fairy sensed that and made this place appear! It's so cool looking inside, like if unicorns were to have an easy bake oven set, it would look like this. I had the cookie batter, smores, and cookies and cream all in mini form, and I totally could have devoured about 8 more (of each!) The cupcakes are incredibly fresh, fun, and delicious. I brought these back home to Boston for my family, and even the next day everyone agreed: best cupcakes ever. They stayed completely fresh and delectable, even a day later. Let me start by saying that the cupcakes were delicious but... I do not recommend using Lancaster cupcakes for a wedding vendor. I felt as though I was catering to them from the start. They came recommended to us so we went with it but when we had our tasting we were able to pick 4 flavors but it was only available if they were making that flavor that week so one of the cupcakes I was not able to try that we picked and was only able to try some similar cupcakes but not the ones we wanted because they would not make them for us. They also offered deliver but they said they wouldn't unless we paid an additional $350 fee that was not in the contract so we decided to pick up and had to at 8am when we were just starting to get ready for our wedding. The day of my wedding my planner went to pick up the cupcakes and my cake... they had lost my order!!! Luckily it was just under a wrong name in the back but this delay made my planner late which put the whole wedding back a little. I was not happy with the customer service at all and would not use them to cater ever again. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of interesting flavors, like marshmallow peep, strawberry champagne, peanut butter Oreo, and London fog. DELICIOUS!!! Not much more I can say. My family of four decided to sit and eat our cupcakes (lemon, red velvet, and salted caramel) we all have different flavor palettes and we all loved our picks! I had the lemon, not too sweet and the perfect amount of frosting. We decided to stop in before we left the area and purchased a dozen to take home and share with friends and family. The cake itself was kind of dry and flavorless, but the graham crust on the bottom was yummy. The key lime filling was tart and tangy, and the frosting. Oh, the frosting! It was mint. Yup. Mint. Look, I get it. Key lime frosting is green. Mint frosting is green. But it is an unpleasant surprise for your key lime cupcake to taste like a (delicious) peppermint patty. I even called over my friend to try it out - definitely mint. As you can guess, the frosting f**k-up really put a damper on my cupcake experience... ETA: oh no they didn't! Lancaster Cupcake is my family's go-to place for treats and birthday cakes/cupcakes! There is something so yummy about their signature cream cheese frosting that I could eat it on its own and be incredibly happy. Our middle child has an egg allergy and Lancaster Cupcake has really perfected their vegan recipes so our son is able to have beautiful and yummy birthday goodies that are allergy friendly! We have had others that are dense or have clumps of flour in them but these are so moist and delicious. Their customer service has always been incredible too. Lancaster Cupcake is a small gem that if you wouldn't know it existed, you'd walk past the building. It's not exactly hidden, I just didn't know what it was for a year. I always thought it was some boutique. To me it is just that, a boutique of awesomeness. Their cupcakes are very good. They may not be the absolute best I've ever had, but they are good!! In fact, I rate them over most DC/NYC cupcakeries. When out of town I always try to find the best cupcakes around (which doesn't always agree with the waistline). One day I read an article that Lancaster Cupcake had opened and it hit me that I had walked past this place 50 times. After class one evening, in the dead of winter I decided to drop in. Best decision ever!! I have since been here several other times and it's never a disappointment. The only disappointment was when I realized I had no downtown classes and couldn't stop along the way. I vow to be back in September. There is never too long of a wait inside and the workers are friendly, which is always a plus. I always walk out with at least 4 different cupcakes. Prices are to be expected for cupcakes, I believe 2.50 each. This is the norm when it comes to good cupcakes. Still cheaper than larger cities and tastes better anyways.
