The low ambiance here is very enjoyable. Especially for those that enjoy having a slow morning. Great music selection. The coffee and tea are high quality. I got to enjoy the Bright Star Chamomile tea. Although I was visiting during a gloomy day, being present at Passenger brightened up my day. Loved getting geeked out about coffee at Passenger today. Simply asked what was available in the pot, and got schooled on the Burundi offering that was a half- washed processed coffee with black tea, molasses, and red cherry fruit tasting notes. Parked my Burundi outside, gnawed down a biscuit, and watched the world go by for a few minutes. Ave had their coffee in other shops, but have never been to the mother ship. Great place to watch the coffee roasting/bagging process while drinking some excellent coffee. The coffee shop portion of Passenger Roastery and Coffee Shop is very sleek, clean and small. We were in there on a day when three people were sitting in the shop and that filled it. Thankfully they have outdoor seating and the weather was mild. I ordered a latte with oat milk. There was an upcharge for oat milk. I asked for an additional shot of espresso. The barista informed me that Passenger already does more coffee in their latte than most shops. I decided the extra shot was not necessary. The latte was smooth and warm. It had a perfect balance of coffee to milk. I love that there was some latte art on top (a heart shape). Passenger offered a number of baked goods including some vegan items. I did not try any. read more

Walking around I saw this spot show up on the map, so decided to give it a try. The shop is beautiful, very clean and modern design. The back is a prep and packaging facility. The people working were packaging and didn't notice me immediately, so there was a minor wait. I ordered a latte and asked for skim. There was only whole or oat, so I asked for oat. There was a $1 upcharge for oat, a 25% increase in the price of a latte, which is very steep. There isn't a note about the extra cost on the menu and the cashier didn't let me know in advance, so I took a star off for that. As for the latte itself, it's beautifully made and the coffee base is delicious. Well roasted to give a good balance of caffeine and mellow flavor. read more

People who know me know I love coffee. When traveling I always seek out local coffee roasters. I did a cross country trip in which I visited roasters in 19 states. I always order a cappuccino in a ceramic mug because it's a staple and it's easy to get wrong. After my trip I stopped into Passenger and discovered the best cappuccino is right here in Lancaster. The baristas are pleasant, Knowledgeable and friendly. The coffee is exceptional, the teas are very good and the pastries are top notch. This is the place to get coffee in Lancaster. When looking for places to go in Lancaster, Passenger came up as a top coffee shop, even with accolades from Food & Wine. Stopped here after a quick run before our friend's wedding, and it did not disappoint! There was only one barista working and a small family in front of us with a large-ish order, so service was a tad slow. However, we didn't really mind waiting and escaping the warm weather (it was mid-July). Passenger has a pretty small menu, which made our decisions easier. We opted for cold brews, mine with oat milk and my husband's sans additions, which were tasty! Would love to make it back and try some more unique lattes, etc in the future. Passenger also had a variety of baked goods displayed, so we each got a biscuit - mine a classic biscuit paired with a mango jam and my husband with the savory biscuit with butter. Very light and fluffy, and I loved the pairing of the jam with mine! Passenger was a great pit stop on our trip to Lancaster, and we loved the modern and simplistic vibe. While the service could have been slightly more efficient (the barista definitely was taking his time, although he was solo on a Saturday AM), we enjoyed our brews and our pastries.
