The vibe at SQ1 is so chill, relaxing. Loved the flavors of milky froth, meets mocha, only wished my latte was a tad hotter. Trust me though, it wasn't difficult to drink. I could go for a cup now, actually. There's not much food nor sweets, at least when I was there, but there was Pokemon AND these pieces of paper, sticking out of the bricks. What on earth?? Okay, I did peek at a few. I asked the barista about the notes and he said, folks write about all sorts of things: notes to ex bfs/gfs, thoughts, anything really. Perfect oatmilk latte. Great selection of freshly roasted coffee beans for purchase and you also get a free cup of coffee when you purchase a bag. It's a cute little shop and opens early. I was one of the first customers and my order came out quickly. This coffee is unreal! The beans are freshly roasted and you can tell. I had the peppermint mocha latte, iced, and it was bold and flavorful. Loved the peppermint candies on top. My wife had the iced chai latte with oat milk and she loved it. They topped it with cinnamon and the flavor was delicious. The lattes were delicious, not too light and not too bitter - art is a bonus! Cant say much about the other items on the menu since we were only here for the lattes during our visit. as for ambiance, i appreciate that the place is nicely lit with natural lighting. Tables and chair are cute too - the chairs, especially, caught my attention as the shape reminded me of a guitar pick which I found adorable. But like i said, the cafe could get busy and so it may not be the best spot to linger but enough to enjoy being caffeinated. read more

The pumpkin muffin was flavorless and not very sweet and weird texture I think it was vegan or something but I wasn't told that would have been good to know anit was $5.50 for a small muffin. The next customer came in and the barista told them that they have a bunch of day old discounted pastries that are half priced and even giving some out for free but I wasn't told that... and spent $24 on two small pastries (one bad) and two lattes. This is one of the cutest, most charming cafes here in Lancaster! It has many warm, earthy tones with some really interesting seating styles (like giant fae-inspired wood? What would you call that?)! It's cozy, it's small, but full of heart. They have many products on sale on the side to support other local businesses as well! I had a strawberry match latte? I think it was? DELICIOUS. The beauty of the cup and the drink is glorious on its own, but I also enjoyed the taste which is most important. They do seem to be pretty busy with both pick up, to go, in house orders. I'm sure if we came at a peak hour this place would have been swarming with patrons, understandably so. Highly recommend you at least drop by and share a drink! A great coffee shop in downtown Lancaster! It has a hipster vibe to it, and plenty of seating. Seems as if the seating is designed for people to be able to work there. Coffee is delicious. There are plenty of baked goods. We didn't try any but they all looked delicious. It's super close to Lancaster Central Market, so it's easy to stop by for coffee and then shop at the market. Great coffee shop in Lancaster. They have some unique drinks like cardamom and lavender flavors for lattes and some interesting teas. Their food is ok, not bad, but nothing to seek out. You come here for the drinks, which are great. In the summer their patio is beautiful and in the winter the interior is cozy with an industrial brick vibe. I've come by here twice now as a stopover before needing to catch the train at the Amtrak station or before a salon appointment nearby. They make a really nice cortado (they call it a Gibraltar) with oat milk, and their cinnamon rolls are delightful! It's a really great cafe to sit, chill, read, or do work on your laptop! In my experience, staff always greet me, give me space to decide when I look at the menu, and really quick with getting your order out! Our first coffee shop visiting Lancaster was an excellent one! It is a small specialty place that has some snacks but is all about quality. The shop itself is small it cute with enough seating and music playing quietly in the background. I ordered my usual latte and the barista did a fantastic job preparing the drink. The shot came out with loads of crema and the milk was textured beautifully. She drew some very nice latte art that was served in a porcelain mug. The drink was smooth and velvety and had a very nice finish. They have some street parking outside and they even offer merch! My favorite local coffee shop! I feel like I am stepping back into Seattle when I visit. The location is big enough to come inside and hang out comfortably but small enough not to attract huge crowds. Their coffee beans come from all over the world and are very reasonably priced. Square One is an excellent stop for coffee. I spent a good couple of hours so I got to try a number of items. To start off, I got an americano. It was well balanced and a good showcase of their espresso. In my opinion, the ratio of water-to-espresso was good (8 oz total). I also ordered a pour over of the Ethiopian that they had. Perfectly brewed and bursting with floral and berry notes. They even preheated the cup - great attention to detail. To finish up, I got a rosemary tonic, which was their "seasonal favorite" at the time of posting. It's a very tasty, savory twist on an espresso tonic. I may be a little biased because the shop is a few blocks from my house, but this is a city fave. The baristas are always so friendly, and the business is super inclusive. They make a tasty cappuccino, and their pastries are super yummy. I do wish they had some more hearty food options, like sandwiches. But the breakfast sandwich (when they have it) is great. I was so pleasantly surprised when I finally visited today. I come to Lancaster regularly for business trips and never ventured into square one because I thought they'd be snobby and wouldn't have what I like to drink (I'm not a hardcore coffee drinker). Lucky for me my coworker picked this place to meet today so I was so happy that I happened to ask if they do matcha lattes with almond milk (it's not on their menu), and they do! Not only that but they also do a lavender matcha also! I went with the plain because it's not sweetened (though the almond milk slightly is, which is normal for most places so I'm not complaining). I was also worried they wouldn't have much food options (again thinking it was a more hardcore/snobby coffee spot). Very pleasantly surprised to find a good variety of pastries, multiple gluten-free options, and also fruit!!! Apple slices+pb! A perfect alternative for those who may be avoiding dairy (the other spots in downtown seem to love serving fruit with either yogurt or cheese), so I was really pumped on this also. To top all of this off the woman who took my order was soooo nice even though I am not particularly hipster or coffee-snobby or anything. (Yes I've had experiences at other shops where ppl made me feel very out of place or whatnot for what I order). This is definitely my go-to spot from now on when I'm in town! Square One is probably my favorite coffee shop in Philly. I miss settling in to one of the tables with an Americano and peanut butter cookie and zoning out while I get some work accomplished. I was really excited to find out that Square One has another location in Lancaster, where I spent a long weekend with my husband. We ended our trip by swinging by the takeout window for iced coffees to enjoy on a morning stroll before returning home to Philly. The barista was friendly and the coffee was delicious. This is how you adapt a business in COVID world. They used a window as a pickup counter and the door as the ordering counter. Keeping everyone outside and with adequate space. We felt very comfortable picking up coffee here. Coffee was good! I had a black cold brew to enjoy on our walk around Lancaster. The staff was quick and friendly. They had a concise menu which shows their attention to detail in the coffee the use. Overall a very positive experience.
