Counter space - A cafe counter with coffee machines, a refrigerator stocked with drinks, and shelves with supplies at Chestnut Hill Cafe.

My husband and I LOVE it here. The staff is friendly, the vibe is so pleasant (always soft music playing in the background,) and it's a super easy walk for us that makes for a perfect weekend routine post-workout. I do wish they left creamer and sugar out and always had napkins on the table, but those are little things that don't even come close to souring our experience. Highly recommend!

The two stand outs of this establishment are the quaint space and the location in a pretty tree lined neighborhood. Near where I grew up actually. The other plus is the bagel's were NY style and very good. The service and tone of the staff was a tad less then friendly. I stood there for a few minutes and watched three of them talk amongst themselves when it was pretty obvious I was waiting patiently at the cash register to order. After I ordered they kept talking prompting me to ask if they could please make up my latte. No rush with this crew. Oh, and one more thing. I asked for a bagel w/ cream cheese and tomato. As you can see per the attached picture, by the letter of the law there was indeed a few particles of tomato sprinkled on my bagel. Never saw anything quite so chintzy. We're in tomato country and no slice!?? Wouldn't hurry back. Too many other great coffee shops in Lancaster to explore.

Been here dozens of times. Used to walk 20 minutes just to get my ice coffee on. Consistently great atmosphere - art, books, nirvana, fun mustaches, f and mers, church goers, awkward dates....Unfortunately, what's also consistent is that you'll be dripping buckets into your latte...this place is 90 degrees year round. I'm not sure if they want to convince you that global warming is real but it doesn't matter what time of year it is, you can count on leaving moister than you came in. Atmosphere: 4/5 Service is pretty hit or miss. They have crazy turnover and at times they are swamped (Sunday lunch). Sometimes your capers are missing off your bagel. But that's the life of a high volume business... Service: 4/5 Food is nice but nothing special- bagels, wraps, paninis. Quality is very dependent on who's making it. I've had bagels and recently a ham and Brie panini..very nice. Food 4/5

I walked by Chestnut Hill for so long waiting for it's doors to open. Like a movie preview you see years before the scheduled release. It's on my walk to work, and only a few blocks from my house. So yeah, add me to the list of people who couldn;t wait for it to open. I actually have some friends who were so annoyed at the time they took to open that they refused to go in. THEIR LOSS. Seriously, this place is awesome. By far my fave coffee shop in the city, and maybe... the world :D I usually have a Creme Brulee Latte and a Egg sandwich on a bagel in the morning. Both are by far the best you can get in Lancaster. The creme brulee latte is creamy, and beautiful. I wish I knew more cool coffee shop terminology, but anyway their roast is awesome. I love love love their espresso drinks. The breakfast sandwich doesn;t try to be anything fancy. It's just a solid breakfast sandwich with good ingredients. They also just added an option for croissant, it's pretty good, but I'll stick to my everything bagel. I don't want to name names, but the best sandwich maker knows who she is. What makes her the best sandwich maker? In a word, butter. Plenty of butter on that breakfast sam. Just had lunch there, which spawned my urge to review them. It was a Ham and Brie sandwich. Really tastey and fresh. I wanted the corn salad, but they were out, but fortunately the fresh greens salad stepped up to the plate. I was not dissappointed. I always leave there full and happy!

If you are looking for a modern, cozy, neat, and cool, this is not the place for you. Cafe is very relaxing, laid back, and low key. Staff are friendly and helpful. They look happy to be there. I saw a lot of homemade bakeries - muffins, oatmeal, scones, and cakes. Place also has plain yogurt which you can pick toppings of your choices. Matcha green tea latte is a must try!

Cool designs on the cups, adding to a homie feel.

With a love for coffee and experience working at Caribou Coffee for a little while I started out 2014 with the mission to visit all of the coffee shops in my area. After visiting a few, I thought why not write reviews and share my thoughts on each of them. So here we are... without any further ado let's dive right in to my unbiased review of Chestnut Hill Cafe First, I must say Chestnut Hill Cafe is definitely a winner! Location and Ambiance: Great location near F&M campus, and a great ambiance for working and enjoying a meal or just a cup of coffee. Coffee: I grabbed a cup of drip coffee, and it was truly fantastic. They also had a great selection of lattes and other beverages Food: The food was definitely a winner for Chestnut Hill Cafe. I tried the chicken peanut wrap, and it was made perfectly. That and their bean and corn side was also amazing! Staff: The staff was nice, and got us our food. Seemed friendly overall! In summary, I highly recommend Chestnut Hill! Thanks, Connor Brady

Another one of my favorite coffee spots in Lancaster. Wonderful and friendly vibes in this popular West Lancaster hangout spot. Lovely atmosphere inside and great outdoor seating. If you're hungry they also have a great selection of sandwiches. I often come here to relax and get a little work done on my tablet.

Excellent breakfast. Convenient location in the city. Smallish portions but reasonably priced. Loved the iced vanilla matcha.

Just stopped in for a warm drink. Ordered the Chai coffee drink. Tasted terrible and was room temp. Tossed it.

I recently decided to turn in my CDL and head back into the office, which allows me more time to get my workouts in and perfect my look. Normally, when I pick up something new, I do a lot of research; I dive all in. I'm glad I "dived into" coffee. When you're a truck driver, you usually hit truck stops where the coffee isn't great. However, being diverse and cultured, I started trying coffee in Latin communities. I noticed they used special machines, which sparked my interest. I eventually started visiting specialty coffee shops. Most of the places I get food from don't open until 10:00 AM, but coffee shops are open much earlier. That's how I found Passenger Coffee here in Lancaster. I knew it was going to be a great spot the moment I walked in; it was clean, inviting, and smelled amazing. A friendly employee greeted me with a smile, and their pastry display looked great. I told her I was new to coffee--only about two months in--but that I was enjoying trying different kinds. I explained how I normally take my coffee and mentioned that the last time I had one, it had foam on top. She gave me a small coffee to try, as well as one with foam (a latte or cappuccino). I think that's all I want to drink from now on! I used to make fun of people who said, "Don't talk to me until I've had my first cup," but now I finally understand why. I highly recommend this place for the excellent customer service and the cleanliness of the location. The pricing is affordable, too. I hope my review helps!

There was an Asian girl who helped me... and since I'm pregnant I asked her how much caffeine was in the matcha. The matcha was delicious! Strong creamy cup! I think the best I've had in PA! Too bad it's far away... or I guess that's good for my wallet and baby haha.

Plus, lots of wonderful coffee houses, but yeah.. I'll stick to pie, when writing this report. Now, originally, I was giving LPC 4 stars, but customer service received by Mika (hopefully I spelled his name correctly), elevated this review to FIVE stars. One thing I love more than the food, in certain instances is - the customer service. Back to that, in a moment. Ahh... what to get, so many yummy pie choices (blueberry, mixed berries, key lime, chocolate chiffon.. small/large/sliced.. with or without icecream.. want a latte? coming right up! I've been eyeballing that peanut butter pie, for quite some time. Massive slices. Sweet tooth, satisfied and then, some. Peanut butter pie, reminded me of a peanut butter cup meets a 3 Musketeers bar; the filling was smooth, fluffy - loved the ganache topping. Too rich to eat all at once. About 15 minutes later, noticed my steamer wasn't made. Uh oh. Inquired up front. Turned out, it wasn't made. Even though someone dropped the ball, Mika picked it up and turned my frown, right side up, with his warm, can do personality. It was made, perfectly and served with a cheery smile.

It is a cute little shop located in the Gallery Row area of downtown Lancaster. The inside is small and seats maybe around 20 people. There is a display case full of their pies right up front, and to get to the bathroom you walk down a hallway where you can see them making the pies, which was a nice touch. For my coffee, I went with a coconut latte, and my family decided to split a 4 inch coconut cream pie. The cashier was especially kind to my kids, which is definitely worth mentioning. I tried the pie first, and it was really good. Both the whipped cream and the coconut custard were excellent and really emphasized the coconut flavor. I also appreciated the toasted coconut on top, which added a bit of crunch and a slightly different flavor. As for the coffee, it was good as well. The coffee flavor was bold and rich up front, followed by a coconut syrup finish that had a nice flavor without being overwhelming. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I thought both the pie and the coffee were good, and I would love to try more of their pies.
