"If this is coffee, please bring me some tea; but if this is tea, please bring me some coffee."―Abraham Lincoln ¡Review #800! Roasted Rooster is the one-stop shop for all one's caffeine needs at the Kitchen Kettle Village. They have all sorts of drinks to meet customers every desires, from lattes and cappuccinos to smoothies and even hot chocolate for the kiddies. We stopped in to grab some chai and I ordered a dirty iced chai w/ coconut milk ($6/Lg) and Carissa got a standard iced chai ($5/Lg). As soon as I placed my order I saw the barista go right for the liquid pumps. -_- When I saw that I knew these would be terrible. The Mermaid® does a chai flavored syrup and it's pretty bad, but somehow this was worse. Saccharin, watery and no spice flavor whatsoever. I figured mine might be slightly better than Carissa's since I had a shot of espresso but it was actually worse. Prices are also a bit high but that's to be expected from a tourist trap. Maybe the other products are better but I suspect it's a lot of pre-made drinks that just involve adding water and/or ice.

Great little coffee shop in Kitchen Kettle Village. I asked for a recommendation and was introduced to the delicious iced Chilly Jamaican with cream. Its a wonderful mix of ice coffee, vanilla, and caramel. The location also sells coffee beans or ground coffee. This a great place to stop in and get an afternoon pick me up. Give them a try and ask them for this lovely wonder. My only regret is I wont have it to order back home.

I came to Kitchen Kettle Village craving my coffee fix and found it at The Roasted Rooster. Adorable cafe with great service. The baristas were very friendly and my latte was delicious. My one complaint is they only had one barista making the coffees and even though it wasn't crowded (there was one customer ahead of me) the other two employees were just standing around and I had to wait awhile for my drink.

    Good Coffee.

The service was awful thanks to the very rude girl (with glasses) who cashed me out! I couldn't believe how she spoke to me

I wanted to try a new place for breakfast on my way to Lancaster and gave it a try. Spacious seating: booths and table and chairs. Place your order at the counter and someone will bring your meal to you. Then when you're finished, clear your table and place the dinnerware in a basket before you exit. I came on a Thursday morning so finding a booth was no problem. My meal came out in a reasonable time. The lady who took my order was very friendly and welcoming. If the food was better, I'd try this place again. But the service alone would not lead me back. I ordered Pop's Special: eggs made to order, choice of meat, toast and home fries. I was expecting shredded potatoes or diced potatoes as home fries; not thickly sliced potato chips. I wasn't a fan. The eggs tasted like whatever oil they used on the griddle, and had the same taste as the home fries and bacon. My husband ordered Mom's special. That was similar to Pop's special but instead of home fries, a very large pancake was served with a scoop of butter. Same oily taste with his meal. He couldn't eat the pancake because it was too buttery. The people were great but not so great meals.

Mostly it's where we stayed (shoutout to Airbnb), but also it was the fun and different experiences/places we visited around the Intercourse/Lancaster area like Stoltzfus Meats. This store doubles as a place to eat at as well as a spot to get plenty of (I bet you can guess) meats to cook up in the privacy of your own home. Normally, a place like Stoltzfus might have been somewhere we may not have even ventured into, but wanting to spend as much time in that aforementioned Airbnb, we saw the great Yelp score of this spot and what it offered in the way of food to cook, and so Stoltzfus was visited with a meaty mission in hand. What does Stoltzfus offer (beyond just saying meat)? Well they really do have a massive selection of different types of steak, pork, chicken, and even some non-meat meals (pizzas, mac and cheese, etc.). Some items come frozen which would have worked well for us had we been staying longer than a couple of days, but we decided to hit up the counter and get some fresh uncooked items that we could make for dinner (and breakfast). Once being helped (which was quick as there were many people working) the staff member was friendly (albeit we had a little confusion about the amount of sausage types we could buy) and we were able to purchase a few different flavored-sausages, some macaroni salad, and some breakfast sausages to make the next morning. After grabbing these we looked at some of the prepackaged meats and found some marinated chicken strips to get as well. Once back at the Airbnb, we cooked everything up and the meats definitely were tender and flavorful. The macaroni salad was also pretty solid. Though nothing blew me away, the meal we made was great for the price we spent. Best item was probably the breakfast sausages we had the next morning. They were a maple apple flavor and dang were they delicious. Overall, Stoltzfus Meats did the trick for our little Airbnb getaway. Perhaps not a place we would have ventured to if not staying in a location that warranted some potential cooking, I am still glad we got to experience Stoltzfus and would definitely return if we did end up back in that part of the Pennsylvania state with the need to make a meal. Even if I physically don't come back, I know my mind will at least continue to return here!

Our first stop of the day was Rumspringa Brewery which I had been to about 12 years prior, just before I started yelping. It's co located with my hope wine gallery. The taproom itself has bright wood floors which dominate the color scheme and then there is merchandise all around the room including sweatshirts and beer to go. Finally there are pictures of Amish country on one of the walls which is fitting. I went with a flight here As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery. At rumspringa it consists of 5 beers for $15. I chose the harvest gold, red caboose, otra mas, altbier and finally the blood orange cider. For my first beer I started with the Harvest gold which was a nice malty beer with lots of flavor and a clean finish. Second was the Red caboose which tasted like a nice brown with some hops on the front and a nice caramelly flavor on the finish. Up third was the Otra mas which had a smooth start with a sort of malty and sour type finish all rolled into one. I don't think I have had a beer like this in a long time and it wasn't my favorite. Fourth was the altbier which also had a smooth start with a deep rich flavor on the finish. It was a really nicely flavored beer and my favorite of the bunch. Last but certainly not least was the Blood orange cider which was sweet from the start with a bit of fruit at the finish. I don't know that I could have told you it was blood orange until the end of the aftertaste which had almost a perfume like taste of it. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. It doesn't seem like you are going to get any supper hoppy or trendy beers here and that's ok as they are doing good with more traditional recipes.

There goes my dream of the Amish stomping on the grapes like in old France. The place also was severely understaffed. One poor woman was up and down those stairs trying to do the job of three people. Will be back to try the spirits.
