I stopped by here yesterday with my wife for some afternoon drinks. We were child free for a couple of hours and since it was Father's Day weekend decided to stop at a couple of breweries. Our first stop of the day was Rumspringa Brewery which I had been to about 12 years prior, just before I started yelping. It's co located with my hope wine gallery. The taproom itself has bright wood floors which dominate the color scheme and then there is merchandise all around the room including sweatshirts and beer to go. Finally there are pictures of Amish country on one of the walls which is fitting. I went with a flight here As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery. At rumspringa it consists of 5 beers for $15. I chose the harvest gold, red caboose, otra mas, altbier and finally the blood orange cider. For my first beer I started with the Harvest gold which was a nice malty beer with lots of flavor and a clean finish. Second was the Red caboose which tasted like a nice brown with some hops on the front and a nice caramelly flavor on the finish. Up third was the Otra mas which had a smooth start with a sort of malty and sour type finish all rolled into one. I don't think I have had a beer like this in a long time and it wasn't my favorite. Fourth was the altbier which also had a smooth start with a deep rich flavor on the finish. It was a really nicely flavored beer and my favorite of the bunch. Last but certainly not least was the Blood orange cider which was sweet from the start with a bit of fruit at the finish. I don't know that I could have told you it was blood orange until the end of the aftertaste which had almost a perfume like taste of it. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. It doesn't seem like you are going to get any supper hoppy or trendy beers here and that's ok as they are doing good with more traditional recipes. read more

The wines are rather mild of glamour, the ciders were just ok. Seemingly they buy a lot of their grapes in from other areas. So the wines can't be called local. There goes my dream of the Amish stomping on the grapes like in old France. The place also was severely understaffed. One poor woman was up and down those stairs trying to do the job of three people. If you've been to Swashbuckler Brewing at the PA Ren Faire, this is a lot of the same stuff. I would call this very middle-of-the-road... not bad beer, but nothing unique, trendy, or adventurous. For my visit, I got a full flight, and really enjoyed the Wild Oat Stout and Harvest Gold Kolsch out of the lot. The two ciders that came with my flight were sickeningly sweet, and didn't work with the rest of the beers on tap. That is to say, it's not all bad. The space is a decent size and there's a very friendly staff. If you like wines, they have that in spades (also Mt. Hope Winery stuff). Maybe this is good for some, but there are much better brewery options in the Lancaster area. read more

Walk into the Mount Hope Wine Gallery, skip the wines if you're not particularly interested in tasting fruity wine, and head upstairs to Rumspringa Brewery Company. Driving between Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse, how could one not stop at a place aptly named for that time when Amish youth venture out to sow their wild oats? This brewery is also probably the last drop of alcohol you'll find if your immediate future is a very dry Intercourse. There are no tours, but the taproom is bright, clean, has two rest rooms, and serves a variety of their craft-brewed beer. Rumspringa is a nano-brewery but everyone in your party except the driver will probably find something to like from IPA to Stout. Small trial glasses are only $2, plus $2 if you want to take the souvenir glass home. My revelation is the ginger ale which is actually ale at 4.75% alcohol. The fun and knowledgable bartender said to first take a sip, swallow, wait a few seconds, and take a bigger sip to get the full flavor. She was right! Definitely a delightful diversion traveling through the Amish countryside. read more

Loved visiting This brewery. It is located upstairs from the wine store. Once upstairs it's a full bar with lots of beers on tap. The Trippel was amazing and refreshing on a hot summer day. We also liked the IPA and the Bock. We did a tasting of all the tap beers. The snack were just bar snacks. Fries (crispy and thin) and nachos (cheesy and beefy) were fun but nothing gourmet. The space is bright, airy and fresh. If we had some more time we would have gone back again. read more

Our second time here. We came last year and loved it so stopped on the way to Hershey this year. People are super friendly and they let you sample if you'd like before you order. There is also a free wine tasting downstairs. They have games to keep you busy while enjoying your drink and to keep kids occupied. Great place! read more

Rumspringa Brewing Company was my last solo stop on a road trip before I met up with a friend in Lancaster. I have to admit was drawn in by the name but underwhelmed by the product. The tasting room is located upstairs from a wine shop. The Rumspringa tasting room has a lovely decor (going along with the barn theme) with a bar and several tables. It was not crowded when I was there (maybe one other person and a couple showed up later) so I chatted up the brewer at the bar and then settled on the sampler since I couldn't decide on just one or two beers. Now I knew when I ordered the flight that it included all eight available beers. It doesn't sound like a lot but when they are all lined up in front of you (especially when you've already made a few other brewery stops) it can seem like an impossible task. I struggled through. Of the eight beers I had, I enjoyed the Harvest Gold (a kolsch), Red Caboose (an amber ale) and the bock (I can't remember the name). I thought the Wild Oats (a robust stout) would be my favorite but despite its coffee taste (which I usually like) it was not. My flight also included a lager, hefeweizen, IPA and a pilsner. I landed on three stars because while the tasting room has a great atmosphere the beers are a bit on the weak side. There's definitely potential here but I think something is lost in their attempt to provide so many different styles all at once. read more

Enjoyed my experience here. Loved the vibe/atmosphere. Lots of light streaming in through the windows. The beer itself was pretty good, not amazing but I enjoyed it. Prices are reasonable. Believe it was $14 or so to try everything. It's also $2 per glass if you want to select your own. Service was really friendly. The woman was very patient and helpful and took her time to explain everything even though there was a line. Bunch of souvenirs for sale here too. Would recommend! Stopped here along our drive through Lancaster. Great place. Very relaxed. Not overcrowded. My partner and I got both a wine and beer flight which both were delightful. Food paired great with the drinks. The selection of things in their "gift store" are quite unique. And the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We will be returning when in the area again. I was here on opening day by accident 4? years ago. This nanobrewery makes some delicious beers. I remember liking the Oatmeal Stout the best, and getting a growler to go. The place is small; located in the 2nd floor of Mt Hope Winery on RT 340 in Bird In Hand. Pleasant atmosphere & good service. Had that new brewpub smell, probably 'cause I was here on opening day. Tasting bar for Rumspringa is upstairs - Mt Hope wines downstairs although they are upstairs too. Beer is actually brewed at Mt Hope. Six beers and two ciders on tap - generous flight portions - highly recommend. They do offer some bar food - limited to pretzels, fries and artichoke dip... friendly knowledgeable staff. Tripel Team is my fave but at 10%.... it has that clove flavor I like. Hazy Day is citrusy but nice - definitely worth a visit. read more

They have a great selection of beers and ciders along with a great wine selection from the Mount Hope Estates winery. Great and friendly bartenders and a great atmosphere. Everything here is very reasonable priced. Definitely a hidden gem that that I would highly recommended visiting. read more

Old barn turned into a brew pub and winery ... Ton of potential but misses the mark. Uninspired tourist trap - take your and light it on in the parking lot instead. Free wine tasting sucks people in off the tour bus (and any unfortunate passer by) with their single note and below average wine ... Not worth it even at the current pricetag of free. You then head upstairs to their brewery and to enjoy more single note, bland, and amazingly overly sweet beers and ciders (amazing how they could actually accomplish this) at $8 a glass. If you muster the courage to have food you will be met with processed, pre-bagged faire plopped onto a dish. read more

They have a limited menu--10 appetizer - type items, but varied enough to create a lunch. The mac jack & bacon bites were particularly good! The upstairs bar was pretty empty, but it made sense, since I visited on a Sunday afternoon. Free samples of the beers and ciders! Great atmosphere, great drinks, good shirt selection... snacks are low brow as expected. The stuffed pretzel is a must try..

Beers aren't great but it is a good stop if you happen to be going through Intercourse (PA). While I wouldn't plan my whole day around it, it is a cute tasting room to hang out for a little while. It would be better served as a stop on a multi-brewery tour of the area. The beers are on the lighter side so some of your group may enjoy them. Also there is some really sweet wines to taste but we did not partake. read more

Bartender Kenny is the epitome of this place. He gave me a triple team beer and I don't normally like beer but this far surpasses any beer I've ever had. So I called Shark tank immediately and I know that sounds crazy. I really did because I really love this beer and it's so strange because again I don't usually like beer, and it's made me feel different than any beer I've ever had my entire life. This place is owned by the PA Ren Faire. The building is beautiful, and the merch is funny. The bathroom is clean and accessible. The tables are nice, but the chairs are small and flimsy. We had a flight of beers, which were disappointing. The alcohol content is low, and the flavors are unimpressive, especially for the price. The best beverage was a Margarita wine. They do not make their own food, and they were sold out of some menu items. The Bavarian Pretzel was delicious after we scraped 98% of the salt off of it. The cheese curds and spiral fries were decent, but overpriced. The kitchen closes at 5pm! What? No food after 5pm! The service was nonexistent. No one came to the table after they seated us. I had to go to the bar to make orders. I asked for glasses of water for the table, and the server came with a single 6 oz glass of water. They were not interested in providing good service, and we were the only customers there for a while. read more

Came here last week with my family. I sampled a few various beers, bought a pint of Octoberfest, and hung out a played some cards with my friends. My girlfriend and I decided to give this place a try since we are beer nerds, and we loved it. As soon as we walk in, we were greeted with a friendly "hello" and welcome since this was our first time here. The bartender was super friendly and willing to answer any questions about the beer. The place had a very beer hall style to it and was very spacious. The beer was eclectic with so many various styles to choose from. Prices for the flights are great. The beer and cider was good, staff was ok. The bathrooms were horrendous!

Don't go here on a busy Saturday afternoon if you want to be served. The barmaids are too busy to serve you or even acknowledge you. The Stoudt's Brewery and Restaurant in Adamstown is a better bet. read more

3 stars for the atmosphere. People were friendly. The interior was cool. Downstairs they let you sample as much wine as you want for free. The beer was underwhelming. I hate to be a picky NY/NJ tourist type, but I've had way better microbrews. Didn't stop me from downing 2 pints, though. read more
