We stopped by to pick up some beers since we didn't have much time in Lancaster. Very friendly staff that explained all the beers to us and helped to make our decision. Atmosphere felt like a welcoming and fun local haunt. Just cracked a few last night to share at home and both were delicious (Oktoberfest & Helles). Would highly recommend.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Great space with a wonderful atmosphere. The beer is good too, reasonably priced. We enjoyed our complimentary branded growler for a few days. The cider we took home was well received by out of town friends. We will return.

Very friendly staff and the bar staff was great. Very informative and explained each type of beer that was on tap. The beers on tap were all great. Cant wait to come back and experiece the upstaira bar again... Update: a year later... The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We went right up to the beer upstairs since we know about it this time. Awesome bartender. Even brought out a glass of water for my daughter in a "fancy" glass just for her. She thought it was awesome to have a fancy glass. Can't wait to come back again!

Did you know in 1642, America's first brewery was built in Hoboken, NJ?

Walk into the Mount Hope Wine Gallery, skip the wines if you're not particularly interested in tasting fruity wine, and head upstairs to Rumspringa Brewery Company. Driving between Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse, how could one not stop at a place aptly named for that time when Amish youth venture out to sow their wild oats? This brewery is also probably the last drop of alcohol you'll find if your immediate future is a very dry Intercourse. There are no tours, but the taproom is bright, clean, has two rest rooms, and serves a variety of their craft-brewed beer. Rumspringa is a nano-brewery but everyone in your party except the driver will probably find something to like from IPA to Stout. Small trial glasses are only $2, plus $2 if you want to take the souvenir glass home. My revelation is the ginger ale which is actually ale at 4.75% alcohol. The fun and knowledgable bartender said to first take a sip, swallow, wait a few seconds, and take a bigger sip to get the full flavor. She was right! Definitely a delightful diversion traveling through the Amish countryside.

Loved visiting This brewery. It is located upstairs from the wine store. Once upstairs it's a full bar with lots of beers on tap. The Trippel was amazing and refreshing on a hot summer day. We also liked the IPA and the Bock. We did a tasting of all the tap beers. The snack were just bar snacks. Fries (crispy and thin) and nachos (cheesy and beefy) were fun but nothing gourmet. The space is bright, airy and fresh. If we had some more time we would have gone back again.

Our second time here. We came last year and loved it so stopped on the way to Hershey this year. People are super friendly and they let you sample if you'd like before you order. There is also a free wine tasting downstairs. They have games to keep you busy while enjoying your drink and to keep kids occupied. Great place!

Rumspringa Brewing Company was my last solo stop on a road trip before I met up with a friend in Lancaster. I have to admit was drawn in by the name but underwhelmed by the product. The tasting room is located upstairs from a wine shop. The Rumspringa tasting room has a lovely decor (going along with the barn theme) with a bar and several tables. It was not crowded when I was there (maybe one other person and a couple showed up later) so I chatted up the brewer at the bar and then settled on the sampler since I couldn't decide on just one or two beers. Now I knew when I ordered the flight that it included all eight available beers. It doesn't sound like a lot but when they are all lined up in front of you (especially when you've already made a few other brewery stops) it can seem like an impossible task. I struggled through. Of the eight beers I had, I enjoyed the Harvest Gold (a kolsch), Red Caboose (an amber ale) and the bock (I can't remember the name). I thought the Wild Oats (a robust stout) would be my favorite but despite its coffee taste (which I usually like) it was not. My flight also included a lager, hefeweizen, IPA and a pilsner. I landed on three stars because while the tasting room has a great atmosphere the beers are a bit on the weak side. There's definitely potential here but I think something is lost in their attempt to provide so many different styles all at once.

Stopped here along our drive through Lancaster. Great place. Very relaxed. Not overcrowded. My partner and I got both a wine and beer flight which both were delightful. Food paired great with the drinks. The selection of things in their "gift store" are quite unique. And the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We will be returning when in the area again. PS first level (wine tasting area) is dog friendly but 2nd level (barn cafe) is not dog friendly *for reference*:)

Tasting bar for Rumspringa is upstairs - Mt Hope wines downstairs although they are upstairs too. Beer is actually brewed at Mt Hope. Six beers and two ciders on tap - generous flight portions - highly recommend. They do offer some bar food - limited to pretzels, fries and artichoke dip... friendly knowledgeable staff. Tripel Team is my fave but at 10%.... it has that clove flavor I like. Hazy Day is citrusy but nice - definitely worth a visit.

They have a great selection of beers and ciders along with a great wine selection from the Mount Hope Estates winery. Great and friendly bartenders and a great atmosphere. Everything here is very reasonable priced. Definitely a hidden gem that that I would highly recommended visiting.

    Wild oats robust stout!

Good microbrewery & a beautiful building. We were welcomed & given suggestions for beer to sample based on our customary choices. They have a limited menu--10 appetizer - type items, but varied enough to create a lunch. The mac jack & bacon bites were particularly good! There's a winery here too, so groups can sample what they'd like. Would definitely recommend this!

I stopped by here yesterday with my family for dinner. We had ridden the Strasburg Railroad earlier…read morein the day and were looking for a place to eat when I fired up Yelp and found the Tavern by Spring House Brewing. It is located on East Main Street in downtown Strasburg. The inside consists of a large main room with an L shaped bar, a number of TVs, and then a second dining room off to the side. Since no one was seated in the second room and we had twin four year olds with us, we chose that space. Unfortunately the TV in that room was broken, so we were not able to watch the Steelers game that was on. Aside from that, the room itself had a cozy and slightly eclectic feel. There was a decorated Christmas tree lit up in the corner near the staircase which gave the space a warm seasonal vibe. The walls were decorated with brewery signs and beer themed banners, and a bright yellow decorative mantel stood out against the darker wall colors. Overall it felt casual and welcoming and worked well for a family dinner. For dinner on this evening I went with the Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak while my wife chose the K Town Mac Bowl. The menu described my wife's dish as three cheese cavatappi pasta with smoked pork slaw, Korean BBQ drizzle, sesame seeds, and scallions. My sandwich was described as smoked chicken, American cheese, buffalo sauce, gorgonzola, onion frizzles, ranch drizzle, and a hoagie roll. I thought my sandwich ended up being good, especially since it was chock full of chicken. The hoagie roll was toasted and buttered nicely and added a good crunch, which the onion frizzles helped reinforce. The gorgonzola added a nice pungent pop of flavor. While I did get some buffalo flavor, I definitely could have used more. Because of that, the sandwich was a little on the drier side despite having cheese, buffalo sauce, and ranch drizzle. My fries were seasoned and had a nice texture, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight here. At Spring House Brewing, a flight consists of four beers and I chose the Cucumber Salamander, Backroads Shadows, Daily Planet, and Love and Rockets. The Love and Rockets ended up getting mixed up and I was instead served Grease the Poles. I started with the Cucumber Salamander, which is a sour. It was a bit tart right from the start and that carried through to the finish, with a little extra pucker at the end. Up next was Backroads Shadows, a lager with a crisp, clean start before the malts came through on the finish. This felt like a really good easy drinking beer. Third was Daily Planet, an IPA that had citrus up front followed by a solid hop presence that carried through the finish. Last was Grease the Poles, a pale lager that started off very clean before finishing with some lighter hop notes. Out of the bunch, the Cucumber Salamander was definitely my favorite. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Our food and drinks were good, and I would be interested in trying more of their beers.

Looked like there was only 2 servers for the entire place which was busy. My husband liked his chili, so that's the two star review. He said it had a lot of flavor. I had the brisket sandwich which was very small for the price with not a lot of meat. The meat had no flavor at all. Was not served with the au ju, which I had to ask for. Unfortunately, the au ju did not make it any better. The Cole slaw had a good flavor and was not sweet, so that was the best part of the food.

We could have moved to a table but we enjoyed chatting with Boots. He is easy going and quite knowledgeable about everything on tap. The menu has sandwiches, pizza and pub food. Their stouts are indulgent and well-executed; the Fresh Roasted Peanut Butter Ale is a fun, off-beat twist that's worth a try at least once; and the food (especially the crab dip and spicy wing option with Creepin' Dog Hot Sauce) rounds it all out so the experience doesn't feel like "just beer." If I were you and planning a visit, I'd start with a flight including the Double Chocolate Milk Stout + Fresh Roasted Peanut Butter Ale, grab the crab dip and maybe some wings with Creepin' Dog sauce -- that combo sums up everything great about what Lancaster does right.

When we first got there, staff greeted us and let us know when the next train was leaving. I hadn't planned ahead to ride this time, but they also told us there's a park a little ways down that's included at no additional cost, which was a really nice option to have. From the parking lot at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, you can actually see the playground behind a fence across the street. Once we walked over, we just took our time looking at the trains up close, passing the shops, and letting the kids explore as we went. The playground isn't huge, but it works. It's not gated, but it's tucked in enough that I wasn't worried about my kids running off. The ground is tire shred (which I prefer over tan bark), and there's seating for adults nearby. Bathrooms are right by the playground, which makes a big difference with little kids. There's also a Thomas the Train LEGO display at the Toy Train Store (not too far from the playground) which my kids loved. Next time, I'll plan ahead to include the train ride, but this was still a really good visit.

The man immediately jumped into the conversation with an attitude and said, "I actually do work here." The whole interaction felt unnecessarily aggressive from the start. He was dressed in plain clothes with no name tag, uniform, or anything showing he worked there, so there was no clear way for visitors to know he was staff or that the stage was off limits. The situation could have been handled much more politely and professionally. Because of that experience, I honestly wouldn't come back. I also wanted to quickly add that if there was a sign, we did not see it.
