We absolutely loved having Penny's Ice Cream at our wedding in August! The ice cream cart was such a fun addition to our reception, and months later, our guests are STILL talking about how much they loved it. The ice cream was amazing, the cart was adorable, and the whole experience added something really special and memorable to the night. We also loved being able to support a local small business as part of our wedding, which made it feel even more meaningful. If you're considering Penny's for a wedding or event, I can't recommend them enough. It was easily one of our favorite additions to the reception and such a hit with our guests. We loved everything about it! read more

What a hit for our daughter's wedding at the Stoltfus Homestead and gardens! Barb was amazing to work with! So accommodating, willing and able to serve our guests! It was the perfect addition to our reception ! Our guests RAVED about having the ice cream truck available! It really brought the whole vision of a fun, relaxing reception together! The ice cream was so delicious too! Creamy and flavorful! Two full scoops in a cone or a cup! Impressive all the way around! If you're in the fence...JUST DO It! You'll seriously regret it if you don't!!! read more

Penny's Ice Cream - Food Trucks Near Me - Lancaster, Pennsylvania

The best ice cream I have ever eaten. It's that simple. Perfect service, clean store and the most amazing cup of ice cream I have ever eaten. Get in your car and start driving to Penny's. I really don't care how far away from Lancaster you live. It's going to be worth the drive. Start driving now and don't stop until you get there. Well, depending on how far away you live, you will need to stop for gas....but that's the only reason you should stop. You can eat when you get there. And you might want to bring a toothbrush, because you won't want to leave for a few days. It's that good. Bravo Penny's!! read more

We hired Penny's for our wedding and we would hire them a million times more if we could. Not only is the ice cream super delicious, but the service was excellent as well. My wedding guests continue to compliment us on the ice cream cart 4 months after. We were so extremely happy with Penny's and we recommend them to anyone looking to add a little fun to their event! read more

I love Penny's! I hired Penny's for my wedding and it was such a hit! My husband and I eat ice cream everyday so having it at my wedding was the perfect touch! All the guests really enjoyed it. The little cart and umbrella were so cute, and the attendant was so sweet! The ice cream was incredible- great taste and flavor options! Easy to work with from the planning stages through the event. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Penny's is a newly opened ice cream truck servicing downtown Lancaster. While ice cream trucks are not a new sight around town, what makes Penny's stand out is their location and product. Located in the Prince St. pop-up park, Penny's delights customers by selling Carmen & David ice cream. We were excited to find out it would feature Carmen & David's ice cream and even more excited to find out they rotate some of the flavors. Overall a great, local experience. read more

Had the opportunity to experience this ice cream for the 1st time at the USAG Women's Golf Open at Lancaster Country club this past Sunday. I wish I had gone back for seconds! It was fantastic and not a stretch to say it was the best mint choc chip I have ever had....Only wish I could get it on a regular basis back home in Montgomery County PA ... or can I ?! read more

Ice cream was delicious. But at the wedding venue this weekend my daughter needed dairy free ice cream for her son. Which you advertise dairy free. She asked the girls if it truly is dairy free and no chance of cross contamination. The girls could not guarantee no cross contamination because they use the same scoop and the same water to rinse the scoops. If you advertise dairy free make sure you train your girls to take precautions to keep it dairy free. If my daughter wouldn't have asked and just assumed it would be dairy free that could have been disasterous for my grandson. Please train them to keep a scoop and the rinse water separate for the dairy free ice cream. read more

Verdict: Had a few minutes. Penny's was a good pick. Looking to spend a little spare time before an event and found myself walking into Penny's. The place was hoppin', packed with plenty of patrons eager to get their ice cream fix like me. I went with the toasted coconut because it's awesome. I'd show you a picture but it was indeed awesome and it's gone now. You'll have to go and get a cone of your own. You could get a bowl too. I don't judge. Go crazy. Get the cone and flip it over into a bowl. It works really well. Trust me. read more

We tried the apple cider sorbet for the first time the other day. This was by far the most delicious, most flavorful sorbet EVER!! It was absolutely amazing!! We would have taken a picture, but we snarfed it down so fast, and we didn't want to stop eating long enough to take a picture! read more

We booked Penny's Ice Cream Cart for our wedding and we are so happy we did! Barb worked with us every step of the way to verify head count and flavor selections and they handled the rest. The cart is absolutely adorable and made for some amazing photos. And to top it off the ice cream is INCREDIBLE! All of our guests would not stop talking about how much they loved the ice cream. I would highly recommend Penny's Ice Cream to anyone for any event (or to just enjoy some ice cream). read more

They have an actual store on prince street now. It has a lovely backyard patio. They bought the ice cream from the previous owners on Carmen and David's. The ice cream is some of the best I've had. Their kids cones are only $1.35! The staff is so friendly and service is quick. It's a great local spot to take the kids. I'm glad I don't live in their neighborhood or I'd stop by everyday. read more

This was the cutest little ice cream place and the girls working behind the counter were the absolute sweetest. As soon as I stepped inside the smell was intoxicatingly delicious and I told the girls right away how delicious it smelled. They said it was because they were making waffle cones and they make theirs with almond. It smelled so sweet and better than anything I have smelled. I wasn't planning on getting a waffle cone but I had to after trying that. The cone was so tasty, it was a different texture and the taste was definitely sweeter. It reminded me a little bit of a pizzelle . Needless to say, that paired perfectly with the lemon chocolate chip ice cream I got. They said we could sample any flavor and I selected that because it sounded so different and the girl described it as tasting like your grandma's lemon cookies. It definitely did! Very homemade taste and the chocolate chips were smaller and paired surprisingly well with the lemon. My friend and I sat outside because they had chairs and tables set up but the inside was nice and cool and very cute and there were many seating options inside as well. read more

Wow. Just wow. Visiting Lancaster from NY and Penny's was recommended by my Airbnb host. It did not disappoint! It's a cool little place with a mini ice cream parlor setup for kids to play and color to the side. The ice creams are to die for. Creamy, fresh and delish. I ordered the 3 mi I scoops which actually weren't mini at all! I had dark chocolate, maple walnut, and salted caramel. Still can't pick a favorite. They were all incredible. Love this little place! Friendly staff too! read more

Good ice cream, but unfortunately the service was very bad. The girl in the window of the ice cream truck was on her phone and seemed upset when we walked up to her. She was quite unfriendly while taking the order and unfortunlately made the overall experience a very poor one. Sad because I've always loved Penny's in the past but will be hesitant to order again when my company rents the ice cream truck. read more

An ice cream truck that sells locally made ice cream, kudos. I'm deducting one star because I asked if the sorbet was non-dairy and the answer was "I think so." Thus, I didn't attempt it and find out the hard way if it was or not. I brought one of my sons here on a very hot day. Still open at nearly 8p on a Sunday night, score! However, one of the reviews from PK H. stated "you shouldn't have to pay a month's paycheck for a simple ice cream cone." I was expecting a very expensive cone. I think it was $3 and change. Perhaps if that is what that reviewer makes in a month, it may be time to seek better employment. I'll pay three bucks and change for something that is made locally - the money stays here and then is spent here. That's a good cycle. Other than it melting all down my son's arm (he has bad ice cream etiquette), he was pleased. read more

My family tried to setup a curbside pickup, due to having Immuno compromised family members. This was extremely difficult to setup. After receiving a email representing negativity, I gave up conversing with them. I will remove them from our list of new products to experience. This place is adorable. I love the ice cream options and everything tastes fresh. I got the sampler for the snickerdoodle, salted caramel, and the lemon and strawberry swirl. WOW. Get that snickerdoodle flavor and try the lemon strawberry swirl. Their ice cream reminded me of bi-rites in SF and i was hit by nostalgia. Not to mention it's next to Lancaster burger truck and they conveniently have cute little tables for you to sit. I can see this place being perfect for a hot summer night under the lights they have! read more

Even better than I expected! We love to try out new (to us) ice cream places. It's always a bonus when it's handmade ice cream instead of a brand. The ice cream at Penny's is sheer perfection. Creamy and rich while curiously light tasting at the same time. I was having difficulty deciding when the server told me about their three mini-scoop offering. That was exactly what I needed! I tried Blueberry Cheescake (good, light blueberry flavor, Chocolate Coconut (fantastic dark chocolate with loads of fresh coconut) and Black Raspberry (tied with the Chocolate Coconut as my favorite). Decor is simple and clean with plenty of seating inside. Prices are very reasonable. Servers are friendly and helpful. read more

Delicious ice cream, cute atmosphere, great service (despite the person serving us being 7 months pregnant!). They had a great special 50% off sundaes and the PB sundae was amazing. The shop smelled like ice cream heaven. Hopefully they have vegan options soon! My brother got the root beer float and I love that they gave us the remaining root beer that didn't fit in the cup. That was nice and we will be stopping by again when we come back from NY read more

This is a review of the new 200 block of North Prince Street location. I have been there twice now. It is too close to my office. This could be bad! I like the three mini (not very mini - more like a regular) scoops so I can try 3 at a time. Banana Bread was fun - and good. Also liked (not sure of names) Chocolate triple threat and Chocolate Oreo. Flavors change a lot which is nice and there is a wide variety. I would think they have at least 20 flavors at a time. Cute little shop with a few tables inside and out. Check it out! read more

OMG I don't even know where to begin! The owner who has the daughter penny, who this is named after, is so cool! She was so nice and patient with me and she looks like Scarlett Johansson! It's uncanny! The ice cream here is sooo delicious and the flavors are incredible! The ice cream itself isn't too heavy or creamy to the point it makes you sick on a hot day. It's perfect! And the waffle cone is AMAZING it's thin, fresh, and crispy! It also has a lovely little sweet taste! I cannot wait to try more flavors here! I love everything about this place! read more

Awesome spot to get your ice cream fix! Wife and I went here after dinner, and dug this place! The staff here is very friendly, and they had a great selection of various ice creams. I decided to get the maple bacon ice cream with a waffle cone. The maple bacon ice cream was full of chunks of bacon and the saltiness went well with the sweet maple ice cream. The waffle cone was also freshly made as well! I also dug there was outside seating in the back since it tiny in the shop. Great ice cream here, so you should go here for your dessert! read more

I was devastated when Carmon and David's closed, this made my summer. This is the best of both worlds, ice cream truck and Carmon and David's I've cream. We missed Carmen and David's when they closed and were excited to see a new shop selling their ice cream (because let's not forget, Penny's doesn't actually make their own stuff). The quality of C&Ds ice cream is great but the lack of professionalism from Penny's owner was disappointing, to say the least. The truck was parked behind my work with no sign indicating that it was anything other than open and ready to serve. When several employees went to purchase ice cream, the owner who was scooping said he refused to serve them unless they were F&M students. He was there to work an event, in a public parking lot with no signage saying that it was an exclusive event and nothing to show he was unavailable to other guests. If it had been noted somewhere that it was a private event (albeit in a public space), or if the students had been getting the ice cream for free, we would have understood. As it was, the students were being required to pay for their scoops. When I went over he refused to serve me until I informed him that I was an F&M alum. He then lied and said he had not refused service to the other employees but that he simply had to serve students first. There were absolutely no students in sight, when we had initially gone to purchase there were only two students, and in either case he flat out refused instead of asking them to just wait for students first. The owner was sarcastic when he "apologized" and we left. Pennys lost out on at least $40 in sales and 12+ customers from all areas of the city who will be getting their sugar fix elsewhere from now on. Moral of the story: if you need dessert in Lancaster, head over to Splits & Giggles or Dough & Co. at least you'll have service and a smile. read more
