birthday cake

I ordered my son's first birthday cake and it was truly perfect. The cake was beautiful and made his special day feel even more meaningful--and it tasted just as amazing. You can really feel the care and love they put into their work. I've ordered from them before and they never disappoint. Always fresh, always delicious. so grateful

I have been getting cakes here for all my employees' birthdays for 3 years because they are delicious, fresh and not too sweet, but the service is getting worse and worse every time unfortunately. today I went to drink cappuccino with my husband, the girl counted dimes for cents and out of twenty-five cents we were given 80 cents in change, of course we threw this money at the tip, but it spoils the overall impression of a good place. we also waited a long time for one drink, because there were no clean mugs, there was no one else there at the time. so my conclusion is that the desserts are awesome, and the service needs improvement, I'm not sure if I'll come back here in the near future.

Hmm... my budget tracker tells me I've been here 3x in 2 weeks! Maybe not the best plan for my waistline, but I couldn't help it! Each day, there's 15ish mini pastries to choose from ranging from $1.79-$1.99. They're the perfect size to have a taste of everything. Fancy individual cakes and pastries are $5-6 and perfect for celebrating a Happy Every Day! Outside of this, there's various 6-8" case cakes, cookies including macarons, and a few bar options. Espresso drinks are also available, but they don't do it iced. Lately, I've enjoyed the mini blueberry lavender pastry, pistachio apricot pastry, and almond marzipan mini. The coconut chocolate individual cake was so appealing to the eyes, but most of the flavor of the sweet was a coconut mousse and lacking a bit in cake layer. My oldest toddler inhales their macarons, and usually she doesn't eat much unless you stuff it in her mouth. I ordered an 8" pistachio strawberry torte from here also. It's dome shaped and decorated with macarons on the outside. The girl at the front could've done a better job with a greeting upon my entrance, and when she couldn't hear what I said, she mumbled a careless "huh?" Also, considering I spent almost $50 on a cake, it would've been nice to receive a macaron that looked a little better, but the staling blueberry one I got was drastically mismatched as far as size of the top and bottom cookie. No wonder she gave that one to me... she grabbed it from the back, as the display case was still being set up, and I couldn't see what she had put into the box. Anyway, the decorating on the dome torte was creative and lovely! I was expecting way more ratio of almond cake layers to pistachio mousse, since the majority of your cake slice will end up being mousse. The strawberry compote layer in the middle and the crunch added inside the cake was a nice touch. Plan to be back at some point for sure!

Amazing place! The desserts are fantastic! Unfortunately, I took a picture just of one stand with desserts but they have more and different kinds. I was impressed by the incredible variety they offer! The quality of desserts is also wonderful and delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and nice. The staff were friendly and nice, happy to guide me through their extensive menu and offer recommendations. Can't wait to come back there again!

I found Lana's Dazzling Desserts from Yelp a few years ago, I ordered a Mango Mousse Cake for a family birthday party, it was a big hit, even my mom who is picky with cakes loved it! Lana's has become our favorite bakery since then! Their cakes are consistently good, both esthetically and taste wide. The decorations are elegant and beautiful, and the cakes are not extremely sweet. The ratio is more mousse and less cake, if you like mousse, their cakes are for you! Actually, if you go to their "Cakes and Tortes" menu on their website, just click on any cake picture, and it will show you a cut piece of that cake! So, you know exactly what are inside the cakes. Other than the Mango Mousse Cake, our other favorite is the Pistachio Strawberry Torte, which sometimes comes in sphere shape that is more fun looking. I also like the Triple Chocolate Cake which is very creamy and rich, and is definitely ideal for the chocolate-lovers! I used to order cakes for our special days, now as we are only having cakes for our immediate family during the Pandemic, I would just go there to pick one. There are so many good choices available that it is not hard to find one to purchase! For now, the 6" and 8" cakes at the store are $30 and $50 each respectively. I also love to buy their individual pastries for my mom when I go to visit her, and she just loves them! The staff at Lana's are also pretty accommodating, and they handle the cakes and pastries with great care!

Again amazing cakes and deserts even during a global pandemic. I purchased the passion fruit cake, omg it is soooo beautiful and sooooo delicious. Tastes like a vacation on the beach with a drink in your hand. Got a mini of the chocolate raspberry, fabulous for chocolate lovers. Tried the pistachio and it was a five star. Also purchased one of the mini mangoes it was so light and tropical loved it

Coconut chocolate cake with mango. Mmm

My favorite bakery. Cakes and pastries are not only beautiful but delicious as well. Or go to for special occasions and weekend treats.

It's a family-owned, grab and go kind of bakery with all the classics. Churros, elote, conchas, and plenty of other panadería favorites. But if there's ONE thing I keep coming back for... It's their tres leches. You can call ahead and order a full sheet cake, or grab an individual slice like the one pictured here. And let me tell you--the cake is SOAKED in milk, exactly how I like my tres leches! Some places are way too stingy with the milk, but Lupita's Bakery does not hold back. The cake is incredibly moist without becoming soggy. The icing is also super light and airy, almost like whipped cream, which I LOVE. And somehow, with all that sweetness, it's not overly sweet at all. Everything just works perfectly together.

There's a nice refrigerated area with tres leches cake slices, flan, and pop. It's a true panaderia with la concha of different choices (a few times they were really dry and crumbly), cookies (tasted stale the past 3 times), and the churros (ALWAYS the win here)!!! The churros are delicious when they're freshly made - regular cinnamon sugar, filled with chocolate or vanilla. THIS is why I come here! Some of the pastries are hit or miss, maybe depends on when I'm stopping in? The churros however are always good and keeps me coming back. Plus I can't walk into a Mexican bakery and not leave with a la concha or other goodies.

They were very professional, the tasting went very well and they were attentive listening to ideas and coming up with a classic but unique cake together. We didn't want a cake topper, and we were only using real flowers for the wedding and not reception so we opted for flowers made from icing (which turned out really neat!). We wanted a cool ombre look because our colors were navy blue, light blue, white and silver. It turned out really neat without being so blue everyone's teeth would look like Smurfs lol. We did two layers with Fudge in the middle, and two with Oreo and it was SO good. I cannot recommend them enough! All photos are by Mel Schroeder Photography in the Chicago Suburbs.

However, the past few times I've ordered from there, the products have been somewhat underwhelming. Got two kolaczki's and both were very dry. Also got a slice of German chocolate cake and it was dry, too sweet, and tasted old. The doughnuts are generally very good as well as the coffee cakes. But the pastries do not taste as good as they look behind the counter. I admit, I did arrive about 20 minutes before closing, but that should not affect the taste that much.

The customer service was also great and everyone was friendly and welcoming. I got the strawberry matcha, and it was honestly so good. It wasn't overly sweet, and I could taste both the strawberry and matcha without either flavor overpowering the other. I also tried the milk bread with custard inside, and it was absolutely delicious. The bread was soft and fluffy, and the custard filling was the perfect addition. The prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, too. Definitely a great spot to grab a pastry and a drink, and I'll be coming back to try more!

This French-Korean bakery chain offers a wonderful variety of pastries, breads, and cakes. I have tried many of them over the years and have been happy with their quality and taste, although they are on the pricey side. I am a fan of their Mango Cloud Cake and recently ordered a 6" one for my birthday. Yes, I prefer to pick out my own birthday cake, haha! When I picked it up on a Sunday around 12:30 p.m., I was surprised to find the bakery totally packed. It was quite chaotic, with lots of people browsing pastries and baked goods while carrying trays and tongs around the relatively small space. I have also noticed that, unlike the Chinatown location, items at this location are not individually wrapped. I personally prefer individually wrapped pastries for hygiene and convenience. There was a long line for the two cashiers, but luckily, it moved at a reasonable pace. Although I was only there to pick up my cake, I couldn't resist buying several pastries as well. A friendly staff member, who was probably the owner, helped me retrieve my cake. It was packaged really well, and a plastic server/cutter and a "Happy Birthday" cake topper were included. The 6" cake is called Mango Cloud Cake #1, and it was almost perfect. Both the mango cream and cloud cream were light and not too sweet, and the cake itself was moist and fluffy. However, there were only a few small pieces of mango in the filling, and unfortunately, they contained fibrous seed material that made them impossible to eat. I had to spit them out. This experience left me on cloud 8 instead of 9! The cake cost $41 plus tax, so I hope they are a little more generous with the mango pieces next time.

Sweet Thing Bake Shop - Cake in a jar!

Sweet Thing Bake Shop

Oh. My. Goodness…read more In full disclosure, I won a recent giveaway from Sweet Thing Bake Shop for a 6 inch double-layer rainbow cookie cake. I wasn't asked for a review or anything in exchange for the cookie cake. My review would be the same if I had paid for this myself. I am, apparently, just the luckiest person on Instagram this week. The cake was delivered to our home on Tuesday morning. It was well-packaged in a sturdy box, plastic wrap, and a plastic collar to keep everything contained. Though it looks like I benefited from local delivery, I have no doubt that the cookie cake would have been fine through courier shipping like UPS. I bake quite a bit so it's always an extra special treat to have something made by someone else, especially something that's adorable *and* delicious. And this hit both marks. The cookie cake is colorful with rainbow sprinkles throughout the cookies and also used for decorating. I was slightly concerned that this would be too sweet. You know, that kind of cloying sweetness that makes your throat ache a little or your tongue feel fuzzy? There was no reason for concern. The balance of the cookie and buttercream is perfect and it's clear they've spent a lot of time perfecting that buttercream recipe to be a complement to the baked good rather than something trying to steal the show or mask inadequate baked goods. The texture of the cookie is perfection - soft enough to bite into, sturdy enough to not be mushy or sponge-like. When I initially won the giveaway, a few friends asked me for a review because they saw my entry and were intrigued. I've messaged all of them and encouraged them to either order for shipping or come visit and sit in my kitchen while we sample more goods. I'm already browsing the menu, dreaming of what I'll order for my own birthday in a few months so I don't have to bake for myself. Thanks, again, Sweet Thing Bake Shop! You made my week brighter and I'm eager to try more!

I have been going to Deerfields Bakery for decades; I just realized that it is not "Deerfield" or…read more"Deerfield's", but "Deerfields". Before we fell in love with the mousse cakes of another bakery that's just minutes from home, we used to order most of our birthday cakes from Deerfields, and picked up at the location in Deerfield. In addition to cakes, they specialize in a full line of baked goods, including pastries, cookies, cupcakes, pies, danishes, donuts, muffins, bagels, and more. Recently, I needed to order a small 4" cake for the first time ever, since all of us didn't want a large cake, even a 6" cake would be too much, because I am usually the one to finish all the cake leftovers. Also, there were only about 3 days for the bakery to make the cake, our other bakery needs 7 days, and probably would not make a 4" cake. I knew that Deerfields could do it in 48 hours. I was pleased that I could order on their website, although their choices for 4" cakes were very limited. I picked a velvet cake with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting ($30.95). However, it has 4 layers and serves 6-8, we would still have leftovers. This time, I chose to pick up at the Deerfields in Buffalo Grove, where I had visited a couple of times, and I like this location much better than the one in Deerfield. It is like a storybook bakery to me! The bakery is picture perfect inside and out, visually appealing with lots of vibrant colors and beautiful displays. When I visited, the spacious bakery was festively decorated, which was quite charming. There's also a café inside, with some tables on the first floor, and the entire cozy second floor dedicated to café dining. The café serves breakfast and lunch Wednesday through Sunday. Like many other bakeries, Deerfields is closed on Mondays. On this weekday when I came around noon, the bakery was bustling. I would give this experience 5 stars for both the cake we ordered and the excellent service we received, especially from Greg, who greeted me as soon as I walked in. The customer service team had emailed me suggestions for decorating the small cake, and I replied with my specific requirements. However, it seemed that my reply had not been read. I needed the center of the top filled with more roses so the design would not look like a wreath. In the future, I will follow up with a phone call to confirm the details. One staff member from the bake room (Brianca?) came out and explained that it could be done, but I would need to wait an hour because all the bakers had just gone on break. I agreed and said I would return to pick it up. Just as I was about to leave, Greg came out from the bake room with the good news that a baker was available to do it right away. In the end, I only spent about 10 to 15 minutes waiting, which I used to take photos around the shop. The cake turned out beautiful and delicious, moist and velvety. I myself didn't care that much for the thick buttercream frosting, but the cream cheese filling was quite good. Since we had the cake after a big dinner, we all opted for small pieces. However, all of us didn't mind eating leftover cakes the next day. When we crave for a more traditional cake in the future, we will definitely return to Deerfields again!
