It's truly more than a light store. Over time we have been updating our home one project at a time. Now that the dust has cleared we're at the decorating stage and pulling everything back together again. Which usually is the fun part. However, I have spent an enormous amount of time running around to multiple stores for weeks trying to find a few special wow factors to add charm and warmth to our new clean, lite and airy design. I exhausted myself going to every store I knew down town to uptown. I was in sticker shock as to what this new sleek upgraded decor was going to cost me. I went to furniture stores where I did find lamps & decortive items but they were very pricy. I also tried some of my favorites discounted home stores but some merchandise lacked the quality. I was looking for lucite lamps, ottomans, pillows, vases. I wanted something whimsical & unique - like a faux fur throw for the sofa or an orchid floral arrangement as a centerpiece with out spending a fortune. Frustrated at driving all over town only to find that everything that appealed to me was out of my price range, I decide to set my focus on searching for just a pair a of lamps and recalled Lamps Plus where I had purchased many light fixtures over the years. Soon as I walked in the door, I was thrilled...eye candy everywhere. Dazzling brilliant unique chandeliers, gorgeous glass & lucite nick-nacks, crystal candle holders, charming mirrored furniture and an awesome selection of stellar mirrors, fur and faux pillows and of course lighting of all kinds! It was a one stop shop for all my needs. I found everything I was looking for to add charm and pizzazz to every room of the house. Compared to other stores they are priced so low! Their pricing on chandeliers - amazing! I've been back there at least six times and there's always some kind of a sale going on. I've even ordered items that they dropped shipped to my home which came in a timely fashion. My wife and I visited the Plano Lamps Plus after viewing their website. The website gave us great ideas for the types of floor lamps in which we were interested. It's an easy store to browse about and get ideas but the inventory is so large that it is helpful to have a place to start. We approached the first lighting consultant/salesperson that we saw. Yav M. was courteous, knowledgeable but most importantly listened to our ideas and needs. We found the floor lamp we needed on display but unfortunately the Plano store did not have it in stock. Yav made several calls and found one in Arlington and had it shipped to Plano. It was delivered as promised and Yav followed up with us by phone with the news that it had been delivered in perfect shape. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Only 4 stars because of a glitch with installation. You are better off hiring your own installer, they use a third party via the Handy app. Lamps Plus collects the fee, but the app request that you pay the fee again in order to provide the information to the installer. Installation company called said they couldn't install on scheduled appointment because they didn't have the necessary information but would send individual out to get the info. He came out and was polite, informed me they'd get me rescheduled in the next 2 days. Never heard from them again. Get an email from Lamps Plus the fee collected for installation was $300 over what Handy said fee would be. Receive two more emails o e from Lamps Plus and Handy asking to rate their service for a job not done. So I went to the store explained the situation to the manager after talking to corporate office. They refunded the entire installation fee. Th manager said I'm not the first to complain. Gather in other states they do have their own installers. If I hand them been on top of it don't know if my over charge would have been refunded if the installation had taken place. This Handy app is a black eye for them and their customer service. read more

Excellent service! I needed new light fixtures in a house we had recently purchased. I used the "In-Home Consultation" link at the bottom of their website and within a few days, I'm sending Pansy pictures of my house to get her opinion on all of my needs! She was able to superimpose images of the lights she suggested over my current fixtures so I could see what it would look like! I kept adding to her list of what I needed to replace, and we decided a home visit would be best, so she came out that same day! Pansy walked me through the house and taught me all sorts of lighting design tips I never knew! And gave me insights specific to my house...for example, like my house color pallate isn't right for white fixtures, as it would make the countertops look dirty (I thought white was always good!) AND that I need a shorter fixture at my front door entry because of the way the house is designed.) And she has been in interior design for 20 plus years, so she knows all design! With her help, I got the peace of mind that I was not spending money on mistakes! I also appreciate that she did not push anything on me, and she didn't start with the most expensive features just to see if I would buy them, but chose fantastic options and very good prices. Not a fan of their fan service. Purchased a large outdoor ceiling fan only to get home and have the electrician ask us for the downrod. After spending all that time and money it would have been nice to know that it wasn't included. Guess what? That diameter rod is not carried at Home Depot or Lowes. I called Lamps Plus store and the employee did NOT want to be on the phone and sure didn't want to check to see if they carried the 1/2" diameter rods. "If you bought the fan here then we'll have them." GO CHECK BUDDY. I don't want to drive 45 minutes to Plano just to find out you don't have them. Pure.Lazieness. read more

I was a little bit hesitant to go to lamps plus because of the previous reports customer service issues. However, I was more than impressed with service that we received. We were helped promptly and Raul showed us various lighting options that we may be interested for other areas in our house. The only down side was the fact that the fixture we picked was not currently in stock so we had to order it. I am confident that it will be worth the wait though! read more

Sorry to say that my first experience with Lamps Plus will be my last. We ordered a lamp from Lamps Plus through Amazon-- it was not from a third party but fulfilled by Lamps Plus. The lamp was missing a small part. I called ahead to the store to see if I could get that part. I was helped by a nice sales associate who told me to come in and they will simply exchange the lamp. I went in and I was helped by Yav first and then by another gentleman. They told me they cannot help me because they are paid by commission and since I bought it through Amazon and they did not get their commission, my only recourse is to send it back to Lamps Plus through Amazon. He also went on to say that I probably paid less. I told him no and that I have the receipt, I paid the same amount as what the store sells it for, because it was purchased from Lamps Plus. It's unfortunate that Lamps Plus cannot stand behind their products and their employees obviously do not know customer service. I even called their 1-800 number and spoke with "Angela" who was also extremely rude to me. My money and I will never be going to Lamps Plus ever again. read more

I went in the first time and was assisted immediately by an associate who helped me select a couple of fans. She told me I could call in if I decided to buy and pick it up later, so I did the next day. The day after purchasing the fan, I went to pick it up...and the customer service was just terrible. There were at least seven employees in the store, but only two at the counter. They were both helping someone so I waited in line. This other lady stepped up, cut in front and started asking the associate a question. He couldn't help her so he called someone else to help her. He knew I had been waiting. He should have told her to wait. It was talking him a while to assist the people ahead of me so I walked over and waited behind the other line. This associate had to move to another register because the customer ahead of me only had cash. Instead of returning to the original register after he was done, he started to help another customer...so I was left standing there. By this time, my husband had returned from Starbucks with a drink. I finally got help when another associate came by to help yet another customer. She wasn't in the best mood either. I only took 5 minutes of her time! If I didn't ask for the receipt, she wouldn't have given it to me. Then there's the very pissed, unhappy guy who helped me carry out the fan...My husband asked him two times if he could help, but grumpy guy didn't even respond. No he's not hard of hearing. I even thanked him and he was still very grumpy. I recommend you have your stuff shipped. Don't go into the store. I really hope I don't have problems with my fan. read more

My husband and I are building a custom home and we were a bit overwhelmed with everything lighting related that we needed to pick out for our new home. When we walked into Lamps Plus and were immediately greeted by Yav Muteba. He greeted us with a warm smile and was all ears and in tune with what we needed. He picked up on the fact that we were a bit overwhelmed, so he grabbed a pad of paper and pen and suggested we start with one room at a time. He asked questions about our style and began walking us through the store. Before we knew it, we had everything all down on paper and were done for the day. What could have been a very frustrating experience turned out to be a fun and educational experience thanks to Yav. We actually ended up placing 5 orders with him, 2 of those being very large orders. We encountered some delivery issues with a couple of those orders, but Yav jumped right in resolved all issues (sometimes even working on his scheduled days off). My husband and I cannot say how appreciative we are for Yav and the staff at Lamps Plus in Plano. We have referred everyone we know to this store and to Yav, and we will continue to do so. read more

I was really nervous to come here after reading bad reviews on Yelp, but couldn't find the modern style light I needed elsewhere. Fortunately, we had a really good experience here! We came twice to look at the lights --- hundreds of them on display here. It is just so much better to see them in person. Plus we were always offered friendly help when we were there. We did choose a light and it was a display -- a nice gentleman came and carefully took it down and wrapped it up very nicely and safely for the trip home. I also saw other staff take down an intricate and very long chandelier and they took great care and were wrapping up the crystals carefully before removing the fixture. And we now have a beautiful new kitchen light -- and it was at a good price too! read more

My wife and I have done business with Lamps Plus in Plano for a number of years and during that time have made many purchases from their store. Several years ago we bought two ceiling fans. One has served us well for a number of years. The second fan has been quite troublesome. Lamps Plus sent service people out to service the fan. Still we had problems. Then, Lamps Plus replaced the fan a second time free of charge. After some length of time we started having additional problems with the fan. Ashamed of causing Lamps Plus so much trouble over this fan, I went into the store to offer to buy a replacement fan and pay for the installation. The wonderful, patient folks at Lamps Plus insisted or again replacing this troublesome fan at no cost to me. Their manager Nick Turner runs a quality store and he and his staff go that extra mile to make sure their customers are satisfied. I wouldn't even consider buying a light fixture or electric device elsewhere. read more

We went to LampsPlus because of the expertise and attention to detail that we expect in a specialty store. We easily could have made a decision to go to Lowes or Home Depot. Your store failed in the execution of our order. We spent two days to decide on exactly what we wanted. Our sales person was excellent and very knowledgeable. We went to extreme detail to review the order and make sure everything was correct. We paid a lot of money for remodeling our entire house. We were assured that the items would come in within one week as they were all in stock. We selected your preferred installer to ensure quality work and close relationship with your store. We received a call the next week and said the things were not in and had to reschedule installation. We reluctantly agreed and scheduled the next week. We received a call again that next week that the materials were not in and had to reschedule. We reluctantly rescheduled. Come to find out the parts did come in and could have installed. So we are in week 4 of the order and they finally arrived to install. The installers were excellent and provided great service. But there were entire parts missing and could not install everything. They did not bring materials that were on the order but in the store and the store failed to order everything that we agreed to. Some of the parts where in the store which was less than 1 mile from the house, but they could not install due to their schedule. Not sure where the breakdown was as talking to the store, installer, installer's management. Very, very confused and in the end not everything was completed. Now we are going to reschedule again to complete what should have been done anyway. Over one month and still not complete. We paid extra money with expectation of quality service but not received. It was a large order and expected "experts" to get it right. Very reluctant to do business again and will consider telling others about the process. read more

I was in Plano on 5/23/15 visiting from Austin, excited to actually visit a Lamps Plus store. I've done lots of online purchases ( 2 chandlers, 2 ceiling fans/light kit, vanity lighting, and a large mirror) but this was my first time to get to shop in a store. I selected a beautiful square crystal ceiling light Possini Euro Bella. When I got to Austin and opened the box I was deeply disappointed to see James had given me a LED Chrome Ceiling Light Possini Euro Magda that was not crystal or anything like the light I wanted. When I contacted the store Angel said she would issue a call tag and pick it up and Lamps Plus would pay the shipping fee but I would have to wait until the wrong light was received in their store before they would send the correct light unless I wanted to pay for another light. The return/reissue process took over a week for me to receive the correct light, which I received and the receipt said return Reason: Changed Mind - Return to Stock. I didn't change my mind, I was given the wrong light and made to wait over a week to get the correct one. I thought I'd receive an apology note with the new light and most likely a discount on the light for the store's error or a coupon for a discount on the next purchase. Instead the error was blamed on me and to make it worse, they even spelled my last name on the shipping label for the new light. I will not do business with a company that blames the customer for their error and does nothing to make it right. read more
