This is a friendly and welcoming restaurant with wonderful creative dishes expertly prepared and a changing menu with delicious daily specials. There is a feeling of community here with many local regulars and exceptional service and engaged managers. The seafood is excellent and fresh, the Chicken Pot Pie is legendary and huge, the Chicken ala King is fabulous. All the servers are wonderful, especially Ginny ( Ginger), Amanda, Michelle, and many others whose names I can't recall. The best soups are the Vegetable Beef Barley and the Chicken Escarole with meatballs. The Wedge Salad is as good as any I've had at Vermont's farm-to table restaurants, just so perfect! The Diner is extremely clean, the portions of food are more than enough and the service is excellent. I would highly recommend Alla for a waitress. Don't misunderstand...The food here is really good. My problem is their drink policy. My wife and I had our usual crepe breakfast, coffee and tea. My 2nd cup of coffee was included but we were told that if my wife wanted a second cup of tea/ With a new tea bag they would charge another hot drink price. I know that everything has increased price wise , but a $2.89 penalty for a teabag ??? Come on you already robbed us $2.89 for the first cup. How much is a teabag maybe 7-8 cents??? Consistently amazing service. Last night we had Amani as our server. WOW she was soooo attentive. I mean right there when we need a refill or whatever. That's what I call service. So much so that I had to call the wonderful the beautiful manager Andrea over as I usually do with all the servers. We go there faithfully and every time exception service and yes delicious meals. We previously posted a glowing review of this establishment. Sadly, since the ownership changed we have noticed a downward slide in the food. Examples: my wife found a hair in a serving of corn, there was an ingredient missing from her Jersey Shore Salad and my pork roll and cheese sandwich which was supposed to be served on a Kaiser roll ended up being served on toast with one of the slices of pork roll slightly burned. These sort of things are pure carelessness and can easily be corrected by closer managerial attention. read more

The interior is very clean and it still has that "very new" look and feel to it. I really hope they can keep this up. The place is beautiful. Restrooms are to the left as you enter and there is a nice place to hang coats. Immediately to your right as you enter is the counter area. Straight ahead, as you enter, is the host stand and bakery counter with register. The pastries were gorgeous. I love a diner that can produce pastries that make me envy their looks. The service -- excellent. From being greeted by the host, to the attention from the server, to the cashier who took my payment, everyone was friendly and on top of what they were doing. The food -- OH EM GEE. The menu is what you'd expect from a diner -- it's comprehensive. I wanted breakfast because breakfast is good at any hour, but I decided to try something different. I ordered a chicken fajita wrap in a white tortilla. The menu said it came with fries and slaw. When my meal came out, the wrap had been pressed in a panini maker, which I LOVED. We got the lamppost sampler (3 wings, 3 mozzarella sticks, 3 potato skins). Delish. The wings were very good. Boyfriend and I shared: jersey cheesesteak (cheesesteak with pork roll) and curly fries and the farmers omelette and scrapple. The cheesesteak and fries were delish. Scrapple looked gross but it was very good. The omelette was light on the toppings side and we think they made us the wrong one. Service was great. New Years Day out to breakfast, decided to try the new guy in town. Arrived to find plenty of others who decided to do the same! Despite the crowd, we were seated within two minutes. Couldn't help but notice the good number of staff here to serve. We were quickly greeted by our server, pleasant and wishing us a Happy New Year. Coffee was hot, fresh and delicious. Water served without asking for it, nice. Pancakes and pork roll were very good, as was my wife's scrambled eggs. There are places that are just as good and a little less expensive, but the well decorated restaurant keeps it at three stars.
