I went to Bob Penkhus Mazda at Powers and had to deal with creepy car salesman who put my car key in their office so that I would have to ask for them before they would let me leave. Absurdly bad experience with this dealership. Make your own choice, but I will never go back…read more Bought a new '26 F150 Lariat through them via a broker, and added in a Sportliner bed rug, available from Ford Accessories. First, they charged $825, which is $200 more than most dealers. Then they mucked up the appointment time by an hour and a half, leading to 3 hours at the dealer for what is supposed to be a 30-60 minute job. They utterly butchered the install. They carpeted OVER the front bed hooks and Boxlink plates. They carpeted over the drainage tubes for tonneau cover, making them inaccessible. They carpeted over the tailagate, despite explicit and repeated instructions (including that day!) not to since the truck had a ProAccess tailgate that would be rendered unusable. They miscut the holes for the storage bin, bed lights and ProPower port and did not secure them, leading to gaping, misshapen holes, and room to stick your hand in behind the loose carpet. See pics for all of the above. After pointing this out, they refused to take responsibility. They claimed they "had" to carpet over the tailgate, and that they did not cut any holes...it arrived from Ford that way. Two other dealers looked at their work and said these rugs do not come precut, and they had never seen such shoddy work. (This is my third F150, and my third Sportliner...I know how they are supposed to look.). The only solution and end result: I paid a reputable dealer to rip out the ruined Sportliner and throw it away, bought a new one, and had it installed correctly at another dealership. It was done in an hour and for hundreds of dollars less. Caveat emptor.

We purchased a late model vehicle there recently. The buying experience was not bad. They are…read moresimilar to CarMax in that the price is the price. It's a no haggle car buying experience and we tend to like that better. The price we paid was reasonable, not dirt cheap but not high. The vehicle we purchased had extra-low miles and was in very good condition. The 3 stars given here are because of the positive nature of that part of our experience. Everything after the sale has been awful. There was one thing that needed to be repaired and they agreed to repair it as part of the sale but said they couldn't do it that day. Turns out they couldn't do for a month! Curious that their service department is that backed up. It was the hazard lights. The switch was either bad or disconnected and we were leaving the state on a road trip, so waiting a month wasn't an option. They decided to get a local Chevy dealership to do it because the vehicle still has full manufacturers warranty. That still had us waiting weeks and having to do it at a time that didn't really work for us. I picked up the phone and called the Chevy dealership a few blocks away from ClearShift and they were able to take us the next day. So we wound up dealing with that ourselves and are still not clear on why we could find next day service and they couldn't. Now it is 5 days until our dealer plate expires and we have not received anything to take to DMV to register and plate. Called the DMV; they have no record of a title application and told us to go back to the dealership, get a new dealer plate, and get a clear picture of why they haven't done this and when they plan to do it. Have called ClearShift more than once, before and after calling the DMV. Can't get a human in that department and nobody returns my calls. Tried texting; so far no response. I would have loved to give them 5 stars. The GM (or owner?) of the dealership was really nice to us, and very accommodating. We were impressed. The salesperson was nice and we didn't have any issues with her. We love the vehicle we purchased. They had good resources for financing. 5 stars was theirs to lose and they're busy losing it. It feels like now that they cannot make any more money off of us, we aren't important. Seems short-sighted. I still (cautiously) recommend them if the right vehicle is there for you. That's the only reason we went there--they had a hard to find truck we really wanted and it was exactly what we'd been seeking and were struggling to find. We truly love it and are not sorry we bought it. We are really frustrated with the very poor after purchase service.

The second we walked in, not one, but TWO of the workers looked at us and immediately walked away; one even snickered. After 2 hours, we were finally able to get someone to help us. It was a white male, dark full hair, dark eyes. The first think he asked me was if I was "there to translate for my FOB mother". Immediately, I asked him to repeat himself because I genuinely could not believe that was the first thing he chose to say to a customer. It somehow got worse from there. He proceeded to ask my mom if she "even knew how to drive the car" and then asked me if she had "won it in some kind of immigrant raffle." When I told him that his comments were completely inappropriate, he apparently decided the best way to handle the situation was to start explaining BMWs to us like neither of us had ever seen a car before. He pointed at the steering wheel and asked my mom if she knew what it was for. We were there for an OIL CHANGE. At one point, another employee walked over, looked at my mom, looked at me, and asked if we were "sure we could afford the service." My mom literally pulled out her BMW key and put it on the counter. He stared at it for a few seconds and then asked if it was "a rental." The most bizarre part was when they somehow managed to lose the car while it was being serviced. Yes, the car. They told us they "couldn't locate it" despite having the keys. We waited another 45 minutes while three employees walked around the parking lot looking for a black BMW that was apparently sitting inside their own service department the entire time. When they finally brought it back, the oil change still hadn't been done. I have never experienced such blatant disrespect, condescension, and incompetence at a dealership. We came in for one simple service and somehow left feeling like we had been interrogated, insulted, and taken on a scavenger hunt for our own car. Absolutely unacceptable.

A week later, Ephi texted saying the vehicle was still available and that the dealership was now ready to compromise. She sent pricing details and service paperwork at 11:58 a.m. Because I was at work in back-to-back meetings, I was trying to coordinate with my husband during the day. We decided he would stop by after work to finally see the vehicle in person since we had only seen online photos and videos. He drove 25 minutes out of his way, only to be told by another salesperson that the vehicle had sold at noon. The frustrating part is that Ephi never bothered to let us know the vehicle had already sold, even though she had just sent us paperwork minutes earlier. That means she was actively discussing the vehicle with us while it was apparently being sold to someone else. I understand dealerships want to make a sale, but basic communication and respect for customers' time should be expected. We were actively working our jobs while trying to coordinate this purchase, and those jobs are what bring in the money allowing us to buy a vehicle. Also, my husband wasted a significant amount of time driving to see a vehicle that was no longer available. In the beginning they promised to change our opinion of the car buying process after being burned previously and they failed miserably at that.

Working with Macy at H M Brown was the best car-buying experience I've ever had…read more I found a few cars I liked on the site, and Macy brought them all to my house for test drives. I handled the financing from home too--filled out a quick form online and heard back within hours with a rate lower than anything I'd found shopping around myself. Once we found the car I wanted (a 2024 Mazda in perfect condition), wrapping everything up was incredibly easy. No hidden fees like you get at other dealers. The only time I had to visit their location was to pick up my car and sign a couple papers. This was my first time buying from H M Brown, but now I'm a customer for life.

Extremely disappointing experience with HM Brown Automotive…read more I was purchasing a vehicle through another dealership that had confirmed the vehicle was available in HM Brown's inventory. HM Brown was aware that the other dealership had a buyer for the vehicle and was proceeding with the sale. The next day, when the dealership contacted HM Brown to arrange transportation, they were told that HM Brown had sold the vehicle to someone else. To be clear, this wasn't simply a situation where a vehicle happened to sell before we could buy it. HM Brown knew there was an active transaction involving the vehicle and another dealership, yet chose to sell it out from under that transaction. I understand that dealerships want to sell vehicles, but I also expect businesses to operate with integrity and honor their commitments. This experience made it very clear that I could not trust HM Brown Automotive to do so. I would not recommend this dealership, and based on this experience, I would be very hesitant to do business with them in the future.
