We've tried twice now, it's just not good. The first time it was very chaotic and the food was greasy and bland. This time the pass around didn't make it around until we were finished. The steak was the toughest steak we've had in our lifetime. The mashed potato and green beans were very bland. Our waitress was great, the fried chicken was pretty good. Go for the rolls and apple butter! Finally was able to get to a Lamberts. The decor is great and the staff is friendly. It can be quite busy but you don't wait very long. Raise your hand and catch a hot roll. They are fantastic....especially with some apple butter. They go around and scoop on your roll. There are also "pass arounds" which are sides or apps they offer everyone. We were in a very large group and it did not take long to get our food. Some items eaten were hog jowl, pulled pork sandwich, chicken tenders, meatloaf, and ribs. All were solid and plentiful. It is an experience and worth a trip off the beaten path. I went to the Lambert's Cafe for the first time in June 2024. And I loved it. I cannot wait to go back. When we got there, there was a line all the way out the door down the sidewalk we decided to wait. I went to the restroom when my friends were sitting in the lobby area and by the time I came out, we were ready to go to our table. It didn't take us 10 minutes. Then comes the roll throwing which is really a fun thing. And those rolls are divine. They remind me of the rolls that I loved as a kid in my elementary school. I even had to take a couple with me because I knew I'd crave them later. Then all the freebie veggies they walk around offering, as much as you want, as often as you want, in addition to what you've already ordered from the menu . My dinner was good. The turnips were great with the cornbread muffin. The pass arounds were good too. We had a wonderful server that was sweet and professional. She did have to be reminded to bring back a drink cup that she took off with to refill but didn't bring it back until we grabbed her(literally) to ask for her to bring it back. It still took quite awhile but she brought a to go cup with our to go boxes. All the service was attentive and timely. The store was decorated for Mardi Gras, very pretty. Service was awful, to the point we had to go to the front and ask for our waiter. Food was terrible. Pork steak burnt black, chicken livers over cooked and so dry they were not edible, fried shrimp served cold, only got one pass around - fried potatoes and they were cold and floating in grease. Lambert's is an experience. I went with my husband and two kids. Of course there is a wait, but there was so much going on that the 20 minutes flew by. There's a gift shop for adults and a train set there for the kids. This place is for FOODIES. Serious foodies. At first you think the big box of butter on the table is because they haven't cleaned off the table. It's not. You'll need it. Your drink comes out in a 32-48 ounce plastic mug. Just go with it. Then someone comes by throwing hot rolls. Raise your hand and get ready to catch. My only advice with the rolls is to pace yourself because right after that someone comes around with a bucket of fried okra. Put down a piece of paper towel and enjoy. We had fried chicken, hamburger steak, a pulled pork sandwich, and a kid's hamburger. The food portions are MASSIVE. And while you're enjoying it, someone comes around and loads your already filled plate with delicious potatoes and onions and another person fills you up with pasta and tomatoes. Every plate we had was amazing. Then they sent us home with more hot rolls. The price was reasonable and the service was great. You may need a few extra minutes to gather yourself after eating all of that food, but it's definitely worth it. This place will see me every time I'm in Foley. read more

Lamberts is a dining staple during our family trips to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. It is very family oriented and staff there is typically very hospitable. They are home of the "Throwed Rolls". Literally, rolls are thrown at you (at your request) and you better not drop it lol. Kids really enjoy this gesture. Hell, adults enjoy it just as much, lol. They have the best apple butter to dress up your roll, if desired. Honestly I was surprised (and happy) to see that they are still carrying on this tradition post Covid. We last visited in 2017 and absolutely nothing has slowed down or changed since our last visit. The consistency and quality of their service and food is still there AND the portions are still plentiful. You will not leave here hungry. Unless you're early, you should expect a minimum 25-30 minute wait time for seating - wait time varies on the day and time of day. They are a very popular restaurant, but it's worth the wait. read more
