Firstly, the passion fruit lemonade is the bomb and they have games on the table which make the ambience cool and chill. They also have a dj on Fridays so the place is very inviting. I also assumed my fish would be in a filet form but it can shredded which I didn't mint but it was also overly spicy from whatever sauce it was mixed with. If there's an option to not get it shredded with the sauce I would welcome that next time, since I want to be able to adjust the heat with the picklez as I please. At times our waitress seemed clueless, she would forget things we ordered but it's a small restaurant so I wasn't too bothered because she wasn't far when I needed to address something. With that said I still love bunnan as it's a great Haitian restaurant in Flatbush where I can get a classic meal. I will certainly go back again and again

I can't put my finger on it but it didn't have a flavor of ANY blend of natural cheeses. I'd know, I'm a cheese connoisseur! Perhaps they use imitation cheese. Simply put, their macaroni au gratin is inauthentic as in no veggies (onions, bell peppers) nor ham or ground beef used either. At least the Diri Djon Djon and Lalo was decent. I've had better Salad Russe. It was either missing onions or salt. The condiment cup of Pikliz is shorter and smaller than the usual 1.5 oz. Most restaurants provide sizes 2 oz and larger and that's how I was able to tell the difference. I never even knew those solo dipping cups came any smaller! Probably so you can ask for more so they can charge extra. Not only do they make sure to cut corners on the Pikliz. Which wasn't even enough to mask their thick, brown, over-fried, DRY and STALE bannann peze that has been sitting out. After they cut the plantains they don't soak in salted water. Bannann peze SHOULD NOT be so thick, should be made-to-order and served hot, fresh, golden and crispy. Just look at their photos and see for yourselves compared to other bannann peze / tostones you've eaten / seen. Then to ask if I need utensils for a to-go order? No ma'am, I'll be using my fingers and eating out of my hands today, thanks for asking. Don't ask, just automatically include utensils in the bag for the astronomic amount you charge for your food. Chain restaurants or even mom & pops all simply include utensils and napkins when preparing to-go orders. Only time to get away with that is when delivering. At which most times customer may decline since they're home / work and may already have those items. Price point - garbage for side of macaroni au gratin I'll let you all be surprised for yourselves on the rest on menu. * If anyone gave this restaurant 5 stars... they're obviously not Haitian and/or their tastebuds are shot.

What I will say when it comes to the experience and food is that it doesn't get more authentic than this. I asked for a recommendation and was told to order the griot, which was well seasoned and quite large portion size wise. The plate came with a rice of choice, two fried plantain, beans, pikliz and dipping sauce for the meat. Not bad for $20. The bar seats were comfy and I was on my phone. There was also loud reggae music playing from the other room, so I was jammin. I got home and dug into my food and it was almost perfect. The griot was delicious. Just crunchy enough on the outside and tender on the inside. The black rice was a little disappointing, but nothing major. I love black rice, but it lacked flavor. Fantastic Vegan Options and Friendly Staff! I recently visited Lako Cafe and had an incredible experience. As someone with food allergies, it can be challenging to find a restaurant that caters to my dietary needs. However, Lako Cafe exceeded my expectations with their outstanding vegan options and attentive staff. First and foremost, the vegan menu at Lako Cafe is simply outstanding. They offer a wide variety of delicious plant-based dishes that are both creative and satisfying. Whether you're a committed vegan or simply looking to explore new culinary horizons, Lako Cafe has something for everyone. From delectable vegan burgers and wraps to mouthwatering salads and flavorful desserts, their menu is a vegan's paradise. What truly sets Lako Cafe apart is their staff. They were incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to help me navigate their menu based on my food allergies. Their knowledge and willingness to assist in selecting suitable options made me feel valued and well taken care of. Their attention to detail regarding food allergies is commendable and gave me peace of mind while dining. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting, with a cozy and modern interior. It's a great place to relax and enjoy a meal, whether you're dining alone or with friends. The service was prompt and efficient, and the staff members were always ready to offer recommendations or answer any questions. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Lako Cafe to anyone who appreciates delicious vegan food and excellent service. They truly understand the needs of their vegan customers and provide a memorable dining experience. I will undoubtedly be returning to Lako Cafe whenever I'm craving flavorful and allergy-friendly vegan cuisine. Keep up the fantastic work! Rating: read more

A group of Haitian colleagues and I decided to meet here over brunch to have our first meeting of the year for our organization. First I'll start by saying that this place is really cute and cozy. The vibe and the decor felt very modern yet familiar at the same time. I ordered their golden latte and the egg fromage crepe w/ salmon. The food is absolutely delicious and surprising quite filling. The latte was exactly as expected (who doesn't love a good hot tumeric drink?) The only complaint I had on my first visit (and this could be due to your usual new business links) is how long it took for my food to come out. I must have waited at least 25 minutes because it looked she had to make one crepe after the other. Hopefully they get more equipment and more help as they continue to grow. I was really disappointed with the service I received last night. I ordered what I thought would be the griot (fried pork) with sweet plantains, black bean sauce, and black rice, a meal I was truly craving and looking forward to. Instead, I received a vegan plate that was nothing like what I ordered, and my black bean sauce was missing entirely. When I called to explain the issue, I was told that they don't give out free food and that all they could do was have my black bean sauce ready for pickup, even though I was already home. Nonetheless, I was unhappy, and I ended up having to throw the food away along with my $25. Very disappointing experience overall. read more

We started with a bag of small, cornbread-like buns that were slightly sweet and so delicious--perfect for snacking before the main dishes arrived. We also ordered two homemade drinks: the Senegal ginger drink, which had a bold kick to it, and the bouye drink, made from baobab fruit, which was creamy, slightly tangy, and refreshing. We'd never tasted anything like these. Both were unique and complemented the flavors of the food, which came out quickly. For our main dishes, we tried the Chicken Yassa, a traditional Senegalese dish of marinated chicken cooked with caramelized onions, lemon, and mustard. It had a wonderful tangy flavor with tender, flavorful chicken that literally fell off the bone. We also had the Thiebou Djen, the national dish of Senegal, which is a savory, tomato-based fish and rice dish cooked with vegetables like carrots, cabbage, and cassava.
