Nice people, clean, would recommend not staying close to restrooms due to smell. Sites very close to another.

As others have mentioned, this location, barely lives up to those expectations. This hotel misses the mark in several areas. Most notably, it fails to meet my cleanliness and maintenance expectations. The hotel has a lot of wear and tear, which it appears that some unskilled DIY amateur attempted to fix unsuccessfully. This only compounds the appearance of disrepair. By Hampton and Hilton standards, this location ranks poorly. However, in a community like this with limited lodging options, it does appear to still be the best option. The management should not rest on its laurels of this fact. Being number one on Google or Tripadvisor does not give you a pass to lower your standards to just above those of your local competition . You have an international brand and fiercely loyal brand followers, who expect more.

Left note at desk for manager to contact me, never did. In fact, staff seemed dumbfounded and had no clue this was going to happen. Poor individual had to deal with issues and questions without managers guidance. In short, clean rooms, great desk, dining, and cleaning staff. Manager is incompetent and must be a coward that is too afraid of answering guest inquiries!

I don't think it's the fault of the current staff -- it just is what it is. I like that Holiday Inn hotels offer a free breakfast, and the breakfast is usually decent, too. The breakfast here is offered for several hours during the morning, and there are things like pancakes, yogurt, cereal, English muffins, fresh fruit and hard-boiled eggs. You can assemble an OK breakfast for yourself here. There's a little gym area in the hotel, but it's not much. There was an elliptical and a treadmill, as well as some weights. That's about it, and I think I was the only person using the workout room the whole time I was there. There were no sanitizing wipes, but there were some towels and a TV. The room was OK. The bed was probably the best thing about the hotel because it was super comfortable and soft. The pillows were comfy, too. The bathroom was OK, but the sink was clogged and filled up quickly. Basically, everything was OK but nothing was great.

I had a reservation at the Holiday Inn at Lancaster Ohio so I checked in and went to the room. That night while sleeping my blood blister opened and caused a stain approximately 12 inches in diameter on the sheet. When leaving, I reported this to the desk clerk and she said "No worries." I made another reservation for that following Saturday. When I arrived on Saturday I was told by the desk clerk that my reservation had been cancelled because of the incident from my last visit and charged me an extra cleaning fee for the blood stain. I wonder what they do when a woman starts her period during sleep and leaves a stain? What happens when someone develops diarrhea and leaves a mess in the bed and a trail all the way to the bathroom?? So Holiday Inn of Lancaster Ohio ...sorry for being human and making your maid have to do her job. It's nice to see how THIS Holiday Inn treats the veterans and senior citizens of the USA when traveling. I went to another motel nearby in Lancaster and they were happy to accommodate me and I got a cheaper room with better cable TV service!! No more Holiday Inns for me!

Honestly I don't know if it's a new owner or they have just been trying hard to…read moreturn it around. Because I have been renting a room here for almost 3 months now and the only problems I have had to deal with are ones I have caused or my actions have caused. Other than that I don't mind it here at all. I have talked to the female owner (the wife) those most and I have dealt with her husband a couple times(the other owner). I do not have one negative thing to say about the ownership or how this place is ran. My AC broke the very next day he is replacing it. After he gets off his regular job. so he is always busting ass to keep up on this place so is the wife. They don't deal with bullshit. they had the right to tell me to leave serval times and I wouldn't of been one bit mad at them because from a owners outlook they had every right. Instead she told me what I was doing wrong and to change it that was my warning. (no she didn't have to even give me a warning). I respect them both and I was honestly very surprised by this place. we got a nightly room at first for a few nights then by some miracle a weekly room opened and we got that that. So I have been in two different rooms and I have to say they both were very clean no trash or anything laying around. Everything was set up and ready for the next resident. My first time staying here has definitely changed my mind and opinion of this place. I based my opinion off of what I heard other people saying and I'm glad i didnt let it dictate rather I stayed here or not. This place is a motel yes so no its not the fanciest shindig out there. After I was here for like a week she lowered the price for me. She didn't have to do that. Then the price went lower when i got a weekly room. I'm in a jam and I have been looking for a more permanent place to rent but as long as I'm looking I don't mind to stay at the Lancaster motel ! A+ P.s. I'm sure my grammar is off and my punctuation Isn't up to par. However on this fine day I just haven't it in me to give a shit ! Ta Ta

I'd rather sleep on the street like a homeless person than stay here!

Whistlestop is located at the end of a dirt road (literally off the beaten trail), so don't be too worried if you wonder if you're going the right way--keep going back the road and it's just over an old rail line. The B&B is the basement of an old farm house and the room is spacious. As Brian mentioned, the room had a queen size bed, couch, working fireplace, pool table, kitchenette, and private bath. The owners, Sherry and Mike, were a delightful couple and we had a chance to peak into their beautifully renovated kitchen and meet their lovable boxer, Lucy. Tons of snacks to pick from, but easily the best were the homemade sticky buns and chocolate chip cookies. Sherry stocked the fridge and pantry with breakfast items for the next day (yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, breakfast bowls). Brian enjoyed a couple rounds of pool while I feasted on several hours of HGTV's "Property Brothers" on the biggest flat-screen TV I've seen in someone's house (60-inch?). The bed was cozy, covered with beautiful colored linens, and I think if you wanted to leave the blinds open, you could wake to a beautiful sunrise amongst the nearby trees. I woke up early Sunday morning to do a bit of reading and enjoy a cup of tea by the fireplace. Perfection. Since we were there in late March, we didn't get to enjoy this amenity, but there is a fire pit so you can make some s'mores (yes, they provide all the fixings for that too). I need to ask Brian when we can go again...it was a great weekend to unplug and just relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of Columbus. (although, they have free Wifi, just in case you need it :) )

I've been thinking about how to do this review the right way for a few days. Anyways here goes…read more.... THERE ARE NO BEDBUGS! I spoke to the gentleman before going out about these reviews. When I showed up we were shown the beds and given the opportunity to walk around with the cabin owner. Everything looked clean. We stayed 4 nights and there were no bites between the 6 of us. Ok now that part is done -- the cabin is a bit past it's prime. There is no Wi-Fi. I am a worry wart so I was nervous about the structure of the home. Starting at the top portion of the house: there were three beds up on the left, careful of the second (or was it the third) from the top stair which isn't truly a stair anymore, it's leaning at a 45 degree angle so it would be easy to slide down the stairs if you aren't using the stair rail. The main floor: the bedroom on this floor is perfectly fine, though the bed is a bit springy. It is connected to a LARGE bathroom with a jet garden tub. The kitchen is lacking cabinet space and counter space, if you are planning on cooking. The fridge is also void of the drawers, and door rails so there's no stage on the door. The stove has seen better days but mostly works fine. The living room has 2 couches, 1 love seat, wood burner, and an older box TV. The floor is a bit weak in here, seemed like one good ragger away from caving in. There are two ways to get to the wrap around porch which is also way past it's prime. That's really all I'll say about that because it's fine enough. There is a grill. The basement: this is where the shower is located. It's also where you get to the hot tub. Other than that there wasn't anything amiss downstairs. Everything was pleasant, it was clean and everything smelled good. There were plenty of clean towels and the kitchen has enough in there, that most people can cook about anything. We found 1 tick the entire time we were there (4 nights 5 days)
