There are tons of amenities and restaurants nearby in Logan so if you don't want to fuss with cooking over a fire - you can just go to a restaurant. This was a very fun, romantic experience. This is a beautiful little preserve located near Hocking Hills. When you first park and head in,…read more you are greeted by the picturesque Lake Odonata. There is a trail that takes you near the lake and the Beaver Pond to the right when you are facing the park, with a short floating boardwalk through the wetland area to your left. The longer trails are the Casa Burro Trail (1 mile) and Shelter Trail (0.5 mile) and can be accessed by heading up the path past the historic buildings that now serve as the nature center and classroom spaces. The Casa Burro Trail overlaps a bit with the Shelter Trail before veering uphill through the forest and giving a good view of the sandstone cliffs. The Shelter Trail is a bit flatter and provides a nice journey through the woods. Most of the loops bring you back to the Nature Center, which has reopened though they are limiting the number of people inside at one time. Also near the Nature Center is a raptor area, where two birds, a Barred Owl and a Red-Shouldered Hawk, who are unable to be released into the wild, are residing. The naturalists are terrifically friendly here and can often be found near the information kiosk and nature center. They were offering some very cute kids activities and materials on our most recent visit - there is a dragon footprint scavenger hunt through the woods, and they gave out little prizes for completing it. A great place to visit!

In order to use the fire pit, you must purchase their fire wood which is inconvenient as well. They have a hidden fee for cleaning your cabin if you don't sweep the floor before you leave. They have a swimming pool which is smaller but we still enjoyed it. The office's hours are 10-7, which sucked for our attempt at an early checkout and on the road. The kitchen was closed our entire stay so we weren't able to order food here. We liked the cornhole which was next to our cabin. Another note is that the WiFi is absolutely terrible and will drop your devices constantly and only operates at 2G. The driveway up to the KOA also is super hard on your vehicle. This campground was close enough to hikes at Hocking Hills but we probably wouldn't stay ever again.

Yes, there is a pool, but it is small and typically has children. This is a resort place. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Give'm a raise but don't raise the outrageous room rate. Would I come back? Yes, I would but would not take the ground level. There are a few other things I would change, but nothing horrible, though the Cafe can go away as I'll never pay for the overpriced items.

My friend rented out the recreational area for a graduation party. I arrived about an hour before…read morethe party ended (just getting off work). Although I don't know what was said during the scheduling, I wondered, towards the end, if he had been informed that he had to stick to the scheduled time. Being as late as it was, I assumed he was the only last renter of the day, since no one had a sense of urgency as the party's "end" time neared. Of course, when the time came, a large group of people appeared, waiting for us to clean and clear out. Even though he was a little frustrated about having to clean up so abruptly, I reminded the guests that whether or not we knew, it was our responsibility to stick to the plan and be off the premises by the deadline. However I think it necessary for any organization renting to impress upon the customer the importance of adherence to scheduled time. No, I'm not saying that it was their fault or responsibility at all, but somehow I think he and his co-planners believed they had the cut-off time to use to clean up, being as late as it was. Lesson learned. Thankfully, the incoming party was kind enough to let us scramble and dump everything without incident. The area was nice, nothing out of the ordinary, so I give it 4 stars. I've never participated in any of the July 4th festivities at his location over the years, but I have had my concerns about security from time to time, particularly with the incidents of violence. But again, that's on the people, not the organization. Some things, even security have difficulty controlling.
