    Look for the signs!

So I've visited this Canopy Tour in the past with someone close to me. Today I returned, solo, for another go at it. Now, yesterday was my first tandem skydive so honestly I was a little worried that zip line might be a bit of a letdown after that - NOT TRUE! Wow, I had an absolutely great time at Hocking Hills Canopy Tours today! So keep in mind that this is a popular place, so it's very important to make reservations. Their web site is easy to get those reservations going, but if you have difficulty with it the people in the office are super friendly and can talk to you on the telephone too. The first thing you might notice once you pass the entrance signs is a steep hill to drive up - no worries, it's a well maintained gravel road. At the top it opens up to a spacious parking area and nice, flat grassy grounds. Once you've checked in with the office, you'll be able to meet up with your guides for the tour. They will walk you through the process of strapping on your harness and help you with it to make sure you're wearing it correctly. Afterward, everyone in your tour group will go through a "ground school" with your guides teaching you how to safely participate in zip lining. These are knowledgeable people so pay attention - it will help later! Soon, you'll be transported to the fist zip area. From that point you'll pretty much be "zipping" from tower to tower, or tree to tree, departing one platform for another via steel cables which you are hooked into (remember that harness you put on earlier?) As with any such adventure activity, there can be an element of risk involved, so be sure you understand this and if you have questions be sure and ask. We had a tour group of 7 total, which included a family of four, two other folks, and me. None these three subsets knew each other, but by the end of the tour we were all taking and getting along great! This has been my experience at similar adventure outings, whether rafting, kayaking, skydiving, zip lining... you get the idea... it's a real bonding experience, even with strangers! Remember I mentioned I've been on zip tours before? Well what really made this tour stand out, were the two guides: Justin and Montayna. They both had a fantastic sense of humor, clearly love their jobs, & encouraged camaraderie among all the participants! This made the day extra fun and, for a solo visitor like me, a whole bunch more comfortable! I'd return just for that. Hocking Hills Canopy tours also offers Segway tours although I've not participated in that activity. Also available are several different zip line tours. The one I selected was their "X" Tour. It's close to home base so I'll likely return some time!

We finished our original canopy tour about 4 hours ago and we are STILL talking about how much fun we had. It was me, my husband, our 15 year old daughter, and 13 year old son. From our ahhhhhh-mazing guides, Cheyenne and Dani, to the fun zip lines, gorgeous views, and awesome camaraderie with our fellow adventurers, our experience was top notch from beginning to end. Things to note - You WILL learn how stop and many safety items before you are asked to zip line up high in the trees. If you are lucky, you'll get incredible guides like we did who will tell funny stories and make each stop feel like an experience. Short shorts won't be a good choice unless you really really really like wedgies. Closed toed shoes are required. They will hold your important items like keys so you won't run the risk of losing anything out on the course. Seriously though, if you are thinking about booking this adventure, do it! You won't regret it.

A great little zip line package near a number of other Hocking Hills sights. We did the "Original" Canopy Tour, which is a number of zip lines mixed in between rope bridges and platforms in the trees. Before you start your guides get you all gear up and give you a quick class on what will be expected and how to do it. There was nothing hard about this tour, just a lot of fun! Our guides Ama and Raquel were great, they ensured everyone's safety through the whole tour. Both were constantly passing in information about the trees, flowers, wildlife and the Hocking River. They also told a lot of jokes to keep everyone laughing. You both were awesome, keep doing what you're doing!

The X tour was great! It took about 2 and a half hours to get through the whole thing and there is a lot of variety on the different zip lines. They take you through trees, planes, high zips, low, over water, and even a through a cave! As some of the other reviewers have said they take safety seriously which I appreciated and felt secure along the entire trip. Another plus is that they take pictures and email them to you for free which is different from many zip tours! Our guides were informative and entertaining and it definitely added to our trip!

Absolutely exciting and awesome experience. This is a must do if you are visiting Hocking Hills. We visited Hocking Hills on the week of Independence Day weekend. We were group with kids. We weren't sure what things to book before arriving. But this was one of the items in the list. We stopped by 2 pm asking for super zip. As we don't have reservation, we were told to stop by 3 pm for walkins. We did checked in for super zip for two people and dragonfly for two kids. You signin for waiver and pay at the desk. You will be taken to the zipline course for super zip in their vehicle. Only people doing zip line will be allowed. We had few taking kids to the dragonfly when two of us went to superzip. After climbing to the top of the tower, actually it was little scary so decided to be going in seated position than flying position. But the ride for exciting and fun. After doing it we were up for another one. While we were taken back to remove the accessories, we were telling the staff we should have for packages with multiple rides. The staff was really nice and said we can mark wrist band with additional ride and can charge while going back to office. It saved us time. We went for next one in flying position. Next time I will be back for other rides like Segway adventure as well. They send some free photos of the ride to your email. Great service and awesome staff.

Me and two friends signed up for the X-Tour and joined up with a group of 6 others. We have all ziplined before, so there was nothing scary about this. It was really fun! When you make a reservation, they ask that you arrive 30 minutes in advance. I don't think this is totally necessary if you sign the online waiver ahead of your arrival. We basically got there 30 mins early, checked in at the desk, and were told, "you're all set, you can just wait here until we call your group". Make sure you use the restroom before beginning the tour. The 11 zips are of different lengths, heights, and scenery. Each zip lasts about 10-20 seconds each, yet the entire experience does indeed take 3.5 hours: you start with putting on equipment, going through a demo on how to brake and pull yourself in (if you zip short), 11 different zips, and ranger transport back to the start. Much of the time is spent waiting for the group of 9 to take their turns one by one, but we were never bored. Our guides were Zach and Sadie. Zach was the outgoing talker with a lot of energy, and Sadie was the calm one who made sure we were safely clipped on every time. They do not take safety lightly here. Many times the guides stated, "you/we can't do that or we'll get fired". Meaning, they don't mess around with the rules because your safety is of utmost importance. On the last zip, they will take a picture of you hanging over the river, and the picture is included in the cost and is emailed to you after your tour. You also get a snack at the end (your choice of Nutri-Grain bar, Special K Pastry Crisp, Lance peanut butter sandwich crackers, Quaker granola bar, Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies, Rice Krispies Treat). There is 1 platform that requires climbing a few stories of stairs. There is a water station at the first platform, and another on the 7th platform. They do not recommend taking your cell phone with you for pics, but you can do it if you have a zipper pocket and you know it won't fall out. Adventures like this are worth the money - it's not something you can do just anywhere, so why not splurge on something different and fun!

Zip Lining was on my Mom's "bucket list" so we booked the "X" Tour and the "Super Zip". Both are highly recommended "must do's". The X Tour was 11 zip lines and was amazing. It had various lengths and speed and the view was amazing! The Super Zip was an adrenaline rush and over by the time you relaxed and enjoyed it. You almost have to do 2xs in a row. The facility and staff very organized, friendly and safety oriented. Our tour guides, Zach & Shelby, took very good care of us and made sure we felt comfortable w/ the zip lines and made sure we ahead a good time. The took especially good care of my Mom and made sure she had a blast w/ her bucket list adventure. I would highly recommend HH Canopy Tours and will be going again.

I've brought several groups here and highly recommend the X Tour! Request Kristin and Claire as your guides, they're the best!

We had the best time on our X tour with guides Ama and Cheyenne. I have a fear of Heights but by the 3rd zip I felt completely at ease, I was able to relax and enjoy the rest of the tour. Our guides were knowledgeable not only about zip lining but about plants and wildlife. If you're looking for a quality zip lining tour Hocking Hills Canopy Tours will deliver and if you're looking for the best tour guides I suggest Ama and Cheyenne.

My son and I were here in October and did the Original Canopy Tour. We had the BEST time!! Red and Justin were our guides and they were thorough, safe, professional, and HILARIOUS!!!! We loved having them as our guides. The ziplining was scenic and fun. I highly recommend anyone to go ziplining here!!

Ask the Community - Hocking Hills Canopy Tours

Do they do refunds if the rain is too heavy?

If the rain is a torrential down pour, we will hold the tour back a bit and wait for it to pass or cancel and issue you a raincheck or reschedule. It usually passes quickly.

While your down there your using a provided map to guide yourself around and match the corresponding areas ( Ex; A to A or 1-1 ) We went after it had just rained the night before, so everything was VERY wet. Wear waterproof/walking shoes if you plan on exploring. Be prepared to get dripped on by very cold water coming off nearby rocks, and the "ceiling". Coming down the initial very steep stairs is a beautiful view of different levels of rocks decending into a tunnel/cave where the rest of the cavers are. Tons of puddles all over the ground from collected rain water and the "droplets". Most the areas are about big enough for one person to walk through the tunnel areas at one time, and if your a larger person i DO NOT recommend going down there. Some areas are extremely tight and really only accessible to someone under 4'5 and around 100 pounds or less. (Im 5'4, 140 and some areas i almost got stuck cause it was too tight going through the rocks. It is neat to see though, i dont think id want to do it again as it is just wet rocks and the furthest tunnel was closed from the previous year that occurred from some heavy rain water. (The water collected, over time causing a collapse). So that was kind of a bummer but i get it for safety reasons. The gem mining was fun, definitely loaded with a lot of "gravel" type rocks so that was new for me, Ive only ever had ones with dirt/sand that yield rocks/gems/shark teeth. We found some really interesting gemstones in each tray. The petting zoo was great. I thought it wad Going to be boring and smelly, and i was happily wrong. The goats were adorable, when we came in a baby jumped through the fence and was following our group. And when we came inside the "pen" to pet them he ran back in it was very cute! The deer were a little skittish but very sweet and gentle. The treasure hunt/maze was VERY fun we enjoyed getting different prizes snd trading them within the group.

Having friends that used to live in the village, I've had the opportunity to visit several of the area houses during and after their transformation... I love the historical feel and the effort made to preserve the essence of the area!! Why only 3 stars??? Well, as I mentioned at the start of this, I've done this sort of thing before. I love the intent of the fund-raising activity, but I feel the price of $20 per person is ... a BIT much. Had it not been for Groupon offering $15 for TWO tickets, I would not have attended. So glad I did not shell out $40 to stand in line or well over an hour at each house. They're nice and all, but way to crowded. And to stand in line for that long to only see 2-3 rooms on average in most houses..... When I did this a few years ago, I totally loved the experience of meeting and talking with all the people who had actually paid money to come look at my house. It made all the work and effort worth it!! Here in German village, I met only one single owner... REALLY??? Anyway, it was a good onetime experience, as I will probably not attend this again.
